41  Economy / Services / Re: GPU Repair Service and parts on: November 13, 2012, 09:08:36 AM
I'm not looking to purchase non working cards especially if something else could be wrong with them. I just figured I'd throwthis out there as I'll be ordering a whole lot of parts for my own use! I can get a discount on large quantities and figured I'd pass that discount down...

Figured I'd support bitcoin by accepting them as payment also Smiley

MrTeal - I'm just dealing with basic repairs right now but I'll have a look if I can find that VRM for you!
42  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Can two different NM, series GPUS work together? on: November 13, 2012, 08:57:17 AM
Same as everyone else said any card combo will work (with compatible drivers and SDK)...

Just one exception in case you were wondering, they will work just fine for mining but don't expect to use them *together* for gaming. You will be able to use one of them if you want to play games, preferably the faster, but you won't be able to crossfire unmatched cards.

I have heard of rare cases that people got unmatched cards to work with driver and software mods but they all took a performance hit.

Just wanted to make sure you understood that part of it Wink

Otherwise go for it, I've even mixed nvidia cards with amd before!
43  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Using renewable energy to mine? on: November 13, 2012, 08:20:57 AM
Sorry if I'm repeating something already said I'm on my phone and it's hard to read over everything...

Renewable energy is very expensive in most cases (such as a GPU Miner) however very easy to do with newer technology like ASIC and even FPGA. Our ASIC Mining Contracts will be using both wind and solar as a matter of fact. Completely off the grid we will have a small wind turbine during the windy winter months and a small solar panel during the summer months. What makes things even easier is that our ASIC Miners use just 5VDC and we'll be using a modified Android device rather than a PC to run the mining software, which also uses 5VDC! That means no DC/AC conversion is necessary and we'll be able to run for days on a few batteries. If for some reason either were to fail we are setup so that our equipment will fail back over to the main grid but we wanted to give this a try and so far successful but the real test will come after all the ASICs are attached.
See that makes no sense.
If you can provide renewable power for less then it costs to run it from the grid it doesn't matter how big your load is it would pay to run everything from it.  Especially when the cost per watt scales down the larger your setup is.

In the case of a GPU Miner, even just a single home PC you would require a much larger setup that would cost tens of thousands of dollars! The batteries alone would cost more than you could make in a lifetime with a single rig. You would be surprised at the enormous size of the UPS it took to run one rig for just 15 minutes! Luckily our data center has both battery and generator backups for power failure!
'Your' data center looks to be a bunch of random pictures you grabbed from the web Tongue

You either didn't read what I said or mis-interpreted what I was saying. The cost to convert DC to AC is much more expensive and you use a LOT more power to use a 1.5KWH PSU for a few GPUs (that's a huge understatement!)

Powering a bunch of ASIC Miners at only 1W per GH is not only more feasible but also uses DC so no conversion is necessary other than a cheap DC Regulator.

Not only is the turbine and solar panel a fraction of the Size and Cost, but there is no AC Conversion required which again is extremely expensive,  and the battery backup for times there is no wind or sun is absolutely nothing compared to what is needed to connect your entire home or business just to run a GPU Miner for 1-2GH at most!

We're just experimenting at this point anyways but it's just running a single circuit that only consumes DC power to begin with.

As for the pics, they were taken with permission by a colleague that is building our website. I never said it was "my data center"... Again, read and you'll see that the business is being run at the data center we work for. I'm a Network/RF Engineer and work out of one of the largest data centers in the Midwest.
44  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How much do you pay for power? on: November 13, 2012, 07:54:18 AM
FFS I can't believe what some people are paying! And I thought mine was bad...

In WI, I'm considered R3 (even without mining) which is the highest, there is no R4)

Subsidized Residential is like .027/KWH
(Income restrictions)

Residential 1 is about .05/KWH
(Apartment/Condo)

Residential 2 is tiered .02-.12/KWH
(Small house/large Appt or Condo)

Residential 3 is tiered .04-.14/KWH
(Large house)

In my case it's 12hrs peak and 12hrs off-peak. I don't remember exactly but I think I chose 6AM-6PM peak hours. We're able to choose 6-6, 7-7, 8-8, or 9-9...

It's worked out very nice in winter! With all the 6970s and 5970s I've been running I could literally TURN OFF my heat in the house if it was above 25F outside (in a 4,000 sq ft home) and stay above 70F!! Those things really kick out the heat!

The entire operation is moving to the data center I work at though once our ASICs arrive. We need the added security for our new ASIC Mining Contracts but we'll be running on wind/solar there. Commercial 4 is actually less if we need to failover to the grid for power!? WTF...
45  Economy / Long-term offers / MAKE MINING FAST on: November 13, 2012, 07:27:10 AM
The companies making ASICs have all said late Nov early Dec before any are shipped so ASICs won't be out before the halving per block. I personally have invested somewhat heavily into ASICs along with my colleagues and we have further decided to offer ASIC Mining Contracts with a we'll thought out reinvestment plan. We have been running numbers on every possible scenario and are in every case, extremely profitable using a dividend + reinvestment plan.

A small investment (as low as 0.25 BTC) will give you about 125MH to start and end up with over 1GH after a year, this is on top of a profit of over 20BTC or $250 at $12/BTC... Not bad for just 0.25 BTC!

Earlier posts are correct however that people with deep pockets will make the most money, Using our models you would need appx 350-400GH to continue the reinvestment plan. Our numbers are based on 25BTC/block and a difficulty starting at 30MH and adding about 10% per change which is very conservative!

There is definitely money to be made, keep in mind that the value of BTC is based on supply and demand and with only 25 BTC per block and difficulty of at least 25-50M the value should rise at least 250%!

I still think it is worth it for everyone to consider ASIC Mining even this late. I'm not sure how profitable a jalapeno would be, but I would say there is definite potential in a single!

If you don't want to take the risk of spending $1300 I'd suggest taking a look at some alternatives whether our ASIC Contracts or elsewhere. If you want to check ours out we are staying 100% private and confidential so that no one gets screwed like GLBSE Bonds, 100% of the return is payed to Contract Holders, and we have been placing orders since June so we will be getting equipment early. Don't mean to spam, just offering my thoughts and suggesting an alternative.

46  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Proportional mining? on: November 13, 2012, 06:49:30 AM
Nice response, I'd just like to add to or simplify though...

Before ASICs were announced, 1 share = 1 block at difficulty of 1. This is still the most common of all the pools out there but after ASIC Miners are available the difficulty and rate of these miners will be so high that a pool operator will most likely change this ratio. BFLs monster can do 1.5TH which is so fast the bitcoin network can't even keep up with the amount of shares submitted so the difficulty ratio per share will need to be increased.

As a GPU or even FPGA miner, this means that it will take that much longer to submit a single share (example ratio 10:1 would take 10x longer) however you will still be payed for 10 shares at the pps rate. If however you are currently mining at a pool that is already using a higher difficulty ratio, let's just say 2:1 as an example you are submitting 2 shares at the pps rate for every share you submit.

Using that example, if you had submitted 100 shares and only paid 100xPPS rate you're getting screwed. I wouldn't worry too much, none of the major pools are doing this yet but if you're part of some small unheard of pool it would be something to watch at least...

Just take the number of shares submitted x the difficulty rate x PPS and you should have your exact payout Smiley

We don't have any of the solar/wind details up yet until ASICs are tested but if you wanted to check out our business and/or ASIC Mining Contracts here is our site... We're offering Contracts at just 0.25 BTC that give you nearly 125MH and with careful reinvestment will yield over 1GH within a year! Highest yields of any available and we're staying 100% private and confidential so that no one gets screwed like GLBSE!

48  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: The last month is among us.. on: November 13, 2012, 05:58:28 AM
Keep in mind that prices change on availability and demand... with only half the output and 10x the difficulty I would expect prices rise at minimum 250% within 1-2 months! The price will most likely drop a lot immediately after the split because of all the GPU miners selling their BTC right away if they quit but will then level out...

Or you could look into ASIC alternatives like the business my colleagues and I have started! We're offering ASIC Mining Contracts at as low as 0.25 BTC that give you the full proportionate power of an ASIC without having to purchase one individually. That's nearly 125MH per contract and no worries of power! With careful reinvestment you'll have over 1GH after a year, not bad for .25BTC IMO...

Either way I recommend holding off selling your BTC and your GPUs for a while! If you'd like to see our ASIC Mining Contracts you can check out the details at our website. We are going to keep everything 100% private and confidential because of all the people that got screwed by GLBSE!

49  Economy / Services / GPU Repair Service and parts on: November 13, 2012, 05:23:36 AM
I am just taking a headcount for now but after repairing my own GPUs I know what a pain it is to find the correct fans, replacement thermal pads, R&R, etc!

I have 17 more of my own GPUs to replace fans and I will be ordering more parts soon. If enough people are interested I will be putting together some kits including OE Fans, the BEST Thermal Pads, and replacement screws.

Prices would be *approximately* 4.5BTC (for reference design GPUs) and would be specifically for your GPU and include various thermal pad sizes of 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5mm. OE Thermal pads are rated at just 3.5W/mK while the replacements are 11.0W/mK and I'm working on getting some as high as 17.0W/mK!

Non-reference GPUs can be fixed as well but I would need to check the price and availability of their fans.

I could also offer a service to repair your GPU for about 6-7BTC including return shipping within the USA.

Please post here if you would be interested! I'd appreciate it if you not send a PM so that I can answer all questions here.

Thank you!

What's up with the site? I'm pretty new but I love the site, first experience with sports betting Smiley

...but I haven't been able to access for a few days and I've got some unsettled bets and a fair balance that I could use!

Other sites report it being down also. Does anyone from anonibet keep up on this thread?

Sounds like something I could handle. I'm working on something similar now in fact. PM with some more info...

What type of script / database are you using? Or is this a brand new project?

What's up with the "stuck" payments the past 24 hours or so?

I have several wins that have yet to be paid out, status is stuck at "Unknown" for quite some time now!?

If you need a list of the wagers I can PM you, here is one of them for example though:

57  Economy / Gambling / Re: SatoshiDICE.com - Verified rolls, up to 64,000x winning on: June 05, 2012, 01:23:48 PM
What's going on with the payments?!

I have a bunch of transactions that were "sent" but aren't being picked up by blocks as they are found. I also have a few bets that despite having a payment TX, can not be found on blockchain... I'm also missing about 30BTC worth of bets that haven't shown up at all, I could really use these BTC right now - it'd be nice to sell some while the price is up Wink

It's up to pools to confirm transactions.  Very small payments can take a long time to confirm.  There are some pools out there that seem to be very misconfigured since there have been times where pools are creating blocks with < 200 transactions in them even with 2,000 waiting for confirmations [WITH FEES!].

However, I've just started playing SatoshiDice for fun with some friends, and there's one thing that has really slowed down being able to play:  Sometimes a TX goes from PENDING to UNKNOWN.  My assumption is that means the original payout TX was trying to use funds which weren't confirmed, and due to time it eventually became an "orphaned transaction".

What's the normal turn around time for SatoshiDice to resend UNKNOWN transactions?

Thanks for the response!

I have been playing Satoshidice from the beginning and never had problems with UNKNOWN transactions in the past. This seems to be a problem in the past few days - if you look back at the posts it looks like someone cleaned out their wallet on a large bet that really slowed down processing but I thought that problem was fixed. Seems they're having more problems again today :\ Go figure I have no problems when I Lose 50+ BTC but can't get paid on my small transactions that I now need to play more or spend :\

In over 10,000 bets I have never waited more than about 30 minutes on ANY transaction with the exception of the first few days when they were working out the kinks.

So as for my small transactions that are being held up (the ones that DO show on blockchain.info but not my wallet) is this just a matter of time and a different pool picking up the smaller transactions and fees? For example, my oldest transaction is about 2BTC + fees and I've been waiting for at least a few hours now... it's right there on blockchain but it's just stuck as unconfirmed!?

Thanks again Smiley

Update:

I'm done betting for now, just more "stuck" payments... Can someone please take a look at this one and let me know if you have any ideas? Any input would be much appreciated!!

The first transaction shows up on blockchain.info but NOT in my wallet.

The second transaction however can not be found in either - blockchain or my wallet!?

This is just one of a number of them like this, I also have a number of transactions on blockchain.info that are "stuck" and all of them are being relayed by the same IP (someone in France) does that have anything to do with it?

TIA to anyone that can help me out!

Thanks Andrew!

...and that's the reason I keep coming back Wink Unlike any of the other sites out there, I know I can always count on you!

Luckily for me, most of the BTC I lost I won by pure luck over at satoshidice so I'm not out too much personally. I'm just wishing I had bet more when I started playing at bitjack! There were days I had won 50 hands in a row but I was betting small, just my luck to catch a bad run at .5 - 1BTC a hand lol!
60  Economy / Gambling / Re: Buying up cheap coins? Play your hand at Bitjack21 BlackJack! on: May 17, 2012, 06:33:50 AM
OMG, I've played a lot of blackjack in my life but wow... never realized how unlucky I could be!

Doubles, slits, you name it I lost them ALL the last few times I played  Undecided enjoy the 15-20BTC or so, don't think I can afford to keep this up anymore for right now!

BTW, any idea why the site has been so slow the last week or so? Maybe it's just me, but switching to Chrome sped things up a while back but the past few days it has been almost unplayable and I've had to refresh constantly?!
