41  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who's lost money? Some people must have on: April 16, 2013, 08:05:55 PM
Bought in the first time at $4....$4!!!  Ignorantly used up all of those and bought in again when it was rising at about $90.  Cashed out and bought in again at $220.*Doh!*

Had to cash out one final time to protect the capital(and teh queen).  made a 10% profit riding the waves after that, but in the long run. it was too stressful so I am just sitting on my cash right now until I learn more, we hit the $20 mark, or I have to pay for something online.  Would love to see more small businesses accepting BTC, but with this volatile market, it isn't happening.

Still bullish for the long run!

I'm still at a profit but every time I put in my bid to sale the price runs away from me

Had an issue with that during the big fall; the price would not only run away from me, but would also run right over and past me without my coin selling!  It was horrifying.  Shocked  Angry
42  Economy / Speculation / Re: 6-hour forecast on: April 16, 2013, 07:44:22 PM
Great analysis!  This thread(and a few others) really helped me today,  I almost made a huge mistake buying in at 70 b/c from what I could see we had hit bottom and were on our way back up and I was missing my chance to buy in cheap.  Cheesy

Thanks.   Kiss I will be studying more of this EMAs MACD, Slow Stochasic, and StochRSI thing until I actually know a bit.

i had some thoughts of doing a subscription-type service, or (because i can't stand the esotericism) post a weekly analysis for a bounty, if there is demand for such a thing.

I would be very interested in that. There is so much to learn and it's very exciting.

not the Winkelvai,

So did anyone else find it odd that a day or two after the crash they were all over bitcoin news and even obscure youtube videos?
Figured it was just my paranoia bells acting up again.
Haven't read much up on those guys; they look feckin evil.
44  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many bitcoins do you presently own? on: April 16, 2013, 07:06:42 PM
With so many waiting for the bottom, many are going to miss it badly, I think we are in for a few weeks of sideways movement, and then a big spike back up, possibly into triple figures when peoples patience runs out.

This is what my uneducated gut is telling me, but my mind is second guessing it.  Last time I allowed my brain to supersede my gut I lost out on the big sell-off and barely broke even, selling what I didn't need for services.  I tried to hang on to a few, but to no avail.
After reading all the experienced bitcoiners' posts saying it will drop again shortly, it really makes it a tough call.  Most of the press I have read since yesterday has been positive(which is shocking and confusing).

Buying in at 69-70 sounds great if it's not going down any further. -.-
Speculating: Once a sideline hobby, now taking the place of eating, sleeping and all things holy.
45  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many bitcoins do you presently own? on: April 16, 2013, 07:01:14 PM
Today I am gonna sell all of them. Bitcoin dream is over.

What a full 8-post dream you have lived!

Of course, most will see through your BS.

46  Economy / Speculation / Re: There is no price discovery... on: April 16, 2013, 06:57:00 PM
More power to them as long as they get it up into 1000s... Lol...

Not before I buy back in!!  >o<

47  Economy / Speculation / Re: There is no price discovery... on: April 16, 2013, 06:50:56 PM
Glad I listened to you guys.  Price is down somewhat from earlier.  It's mostly bots putting in tiny bids to drive it down, right?  Someone may hate me for asking, but is there any way for exchanges like bitfloor/Mt Gox to stop the manipulation? I understand the need for bots to an extent, but they're being abused.

The few financially minded people I have spoken to about bitcoin say they love the concept, but price manipulation is just too easy and it will never be effective as a currency or way to trade until this can be stopped.

Otherwise, they said they would be all for it.
They also questioned, "What is bitcoin's true value?" which I don't think there is an answer to, yet.  I heard the number $3,333 thrown out there once, but can't find the thread to see who said it and what their background is to determine if it was a legitimate guess or not.
48  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why on earth would you buy now? on: April 16, 2013, 06:39:39 PM
proudhon says now is the time to buy. he's been right before

Cheesy

One of the main things I have learned in this forum is not to listen to that guy.

Of course, he could pick up on that and start giving advice that's the opposite of what he really thinks.

Then the manipulation will be in full effect. :}
49  Economy / Speculation / Re: There is no price discovery... on: April 16, 2013, 05:43:38 PM

Hey dreamscape, should have bought last night when it was $50 ;-)

If you don't know much about the market, your best bet is to buy and hold, and definitely not more than you can afford to lose. Some folks think that we are on our way to single digits and bitcoin is on its way out and we should all go back to Fiat. Some folks think we will stay in the $50-100 range for a while before going back up again, and some folks think the next rally is days away.

Learn about the fundamentals of bitcoin, its uses and applications, and the corruption in the current system of fiat banksters. If that inspires you and you believe in bitcoin, buy at the current price and hold. Long-term, this hasn't failed anyone yet with bitcoin. Your other option is to "speculate" i.e. learn as much as you can about the price movement, keep up with news, but at this point it's anybody's guess as to what happens in the next week or two.

Haha, I was watching it like a hawk when it hit >50 and spiked back up suddenly. I think I went into shock and had no clue what to do, so I fell asleep with the live graphs running and woke up to what I considered "a pretty steady rise".  lol

Been speculating heavily since before the drop and it didn't do me a bit of good b/c I didn't go with my gut. But in the long run, I don't want to be a speculator.
I do believe in the principle and am trying my best to get behind it.  Guess I'm sort of weak, but with these daily excercises maybe I can have strong hands before long.

Still not sure if the price will drop significantly again before the steady climb we are all hoping for, guess no one knows.  With the info I have gathered today, there is a good chance it will drop at least a bit before it stabalizes.
Think I will wait for a slight drop, then buy in with all the fiat in my account and hold.  If it goes down, I just won't use the coin until it meets my original price again. But I like to think it will go up when the next rally hits and continue a steady climb.

Meanwhile, I guess it's time to study terms and acronyms so that I can at least talk the talk and impress....some idiot.  Thanks again.

50  Economy / Speculation / Re: There is no price discovery... on: April 16, 2013, 05:26:48 PM
Thanks for the advice, guys.
I was trying to save money and buy on the cheap end, but this is ridiculous; you're right.  I'm just going to wait.

I really enjoy this forum and all the different opinions and voices of experience.
Still trying to figure out who is who, but it's nice having it to sift through and even the perceived idiots here aren't half as bad as main stream media's goons.

Bitcoin tabs are down and I am going to go eat, finally. lol

Take it easy, guys.
51  Economy / Speculation / Re: There is no price discovery... on: April 16, 2013, 04:46:59 PM
So who's doing it and when will it drop again?

This is the toughest learning experience since puberty.

I know nothing and need to pay attention is what I have learned so far.

Still don't know if it's a good idea to buy right now or not.  I need to use a few coins within a few days but obviously don't want to buy right now if this is a trap.
Seems to me, atm, the price won't fall while people are buying, so I am just chasing it, waiting for a small dip to buy in and finding none.
Ask wall coming up on the floor @79.98. 222 coins.  Does that count as a wall?
Just how easy is it to manipulate the price at several different exchanges at once?
Right now I am just chasing the price.
Where is my fairy Godmother?
They just blew right through the 'wall' like it was nothing....Holy shite.
Do I buy in now!?
Think I'll just go hyperventilate in a corner somewhere.....
52  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Uh oh on: April 11, 2013, 08:30:14 PM
And unlike bitcoins, usd actually keeps it's value and can be spent on things.

You should stick around here. You are useful.

I know Ilol'd.  Thanks.
53  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The problem is not with bitcoin on: April 11, 2013, 08:26:13 PM
Seriously, for a long long time people have been saying "bitcoin is a bubble bought on by the greed of idiots" and now after the second major price crash caused by exactly this people might realise this.

Greed will always exist outside of gold silver or bitcoin. Bitcoin is not the problem, the centralized exchange is.

Bitcoins are fundamentally flawed for this reason. Why should anyone spend now what will be worth more tomorrow? Why should anyone invest in anything or buy anything when tomorrow you could buy twice as much?

Because it is money.

As a teacher once told me:  bears eat and bulls eat, but pigs get slaughtered.
54  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So... This is how you kill bitcoin. on: April 11, 2013, 07:51:03 PM
That would be good, because next bubble could be much bigger. If it goes down to 1 cent, I'll get a large loan to buy millions of bitcoins. At the next bubble I'll be a billionaire.  Cheesy Wink
me too Cheesy Wink Wink Wink Wink

I hope you guys aren't serious.
55  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-04-10 NaturalNews: The bitcoin bubble explained on: April 11, 2013, 12:52:12 AM
So you like Bitcoin but hate people who are willing to sell them to you cheaply?

I was being sarcastic(hence the eyeroll) and partially throwing back to my statement. I sold in the middle of a panic sell even though I wasn't panicking, so.... No one to hate on, but myself and the bankers.   But the panic sellers do frustrate me.
I am still wondering if what I did was a good thing or a bad thing.  On one hand, I stuck to my original plan and sold before I had to sacrifice all my coin.  On the other hand, I didn't sell when it was high, but rather, when it was low and contributed to a panic sel.
I guess next time I will sell when it jumps, even if I want to stay in and buy when it drops even if I have no clue whats going on.
Like my sig says, I'm here to learn; earning and learning.
56  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-04-10 NaturalNews: The bitcoin bubble explained on: April 10, 2013, 08:48:17 PM
I want to apologize for being part of the sell-off.  180 was my limit.  It wasn't a panic sell, but calculated to cover my initial investment without having to lose all my coin.  You know, I had a feeling that what was mentioned in this article was the case when it happened earlier.  Don't know why, but just thought that the market was small enough that the banks could manipulate it so easily by buying and selling.  My gut feelings have proven true in the past, I should listen to them more often. The past two days there has been this nagging and negative feeling about btc, but I didn't pay any attention to it, chalking it up to the bad press planting seeds(even though I had laughed at it when reading).  Oh, well.   Bet they wet themselves.  And it's climbing again.  Guess my negative feelings were just about my idiot self selling and not btc. But at least I stuck to my plan. (?)  Guess I'm not a spartan, after all.  Cry

Now that I have insured my initial investment has been safely covered and the other half of my btc are just profit to let ride till the end, I can say:

Panic sellers SUCK.  Stay the fuck out of bitcoin!!     Roll Eyes

Mmmmmmmmmmm, Roman.  Kiss

Had a make-believe issue with depositing my btc this morning.  Still not sure what happened, but even with their increase in volume and dealing with so many various things this week, they still got back to me **within an hour** of my email and everything was resolved immediately.  It could have been a problem on my end. Either way, the short email Roman sent was more than enough.  Now I am sorry for unnecessarily filling their time/inbox. Will gladly donate btc to his cause, as soon as I find his wallet address--my next mission. Wink

They keep this up and I will NEVER have to use any other site(P2p once in a very blue moon).
Thanks, Roman!

Some bodies are scheming.

I'm pretty sure we are all scheming.  Some just have botnets at their disposal.   Wink

*Young, untouched and innocent face* Nah, I never scheme. What's a botnet? Tongue
