If I may.

Here's the problem.

Quite a few times, (I'm a BMW Enthusiast) I've gone too look at older BMWs, like E30s for example.  The dude selling the car will pop the hood and say "Here is an amazing BMW V6 Engine..." I stop him right there and say outloud "You're a moron!" and I leave.

I have to.

By default I can already assume:  He is NOT the owner of the car.  He does NOT know anything about BMWs.  He CERTAINLY did NOT change the Timing Belt every 100k miles.

BMW does NOT make a V6.

Now he may have been "a good guy" and an "honest guy" but he was NOT gaining my trust or my money because of his inexperience. It was too much of a gamble for me.  I'd respect him if he stuck with Fords and Mopar out where he belongs.

I would bet you are NOT out here to scam someone, you already have proven that reputation on this board... but using improper terms like "Unlimited" and "its anonymous, but i'm wondering how some of my clients haven't gotten caught yet...

The purpose in selling the VPN is to attract people who are not qualified to build and maintain their own VPN.  And you've scored there for sure.

But f THEY are identifying loopholes like you pointing out a V6 in a Bimmer then its gonna be hard.

Bottom line: Have a nice "Sell Sheet" made up and post it around the forums... just be the dude collecting the BTC and these guys won't troll you... (as much)

So is this thread dead?

I read over the requirements on the first post from the admin...

Creating Forum Software will be a big mistake. And do NOT leave MySQL.  There's a reason why its the MOST SECURE DB in the *Nix world.

Install and Pay for VBulletin 4.  Its BULLETPROOF.  Get a bunch of us together for SEO and attractiveness.

The ONLY vulnerabilities you will have is on the Nix side.

And assuming this is at LEAST a VPS over at Softlayer, we can tighten it more than a Southern Baptist Raised Teenager on her Prom night.

You will regret hand writing a forum when a proven one exists for years.
I did it once, than the particular programmer who did it, got very upset with me.

I was expected to spend SEVEN FIGURES (and I was preparing to) on obtaining my source code after a disupute.  Its not worth it.
You will not come close to the security and professionalism of VBulletin.

You have my word.

the term "bitcoin?"

I get this forum as the fourth result on the first page (disreguarding the "news" section) when googling "bitcoin"

I also get this forum as the 4th result when I google "bitcoin".  I live in Alberta.
Dont use Chrome... and clean your cache, you're not seeing organic results

So is the restriction lifted automatically? I thought you had to post in the sticky thread.

4 posts and 4 hours board time.

I agree with the one that suggest to buy your own hardware and to colocate.
Than put a webcam in the top of rack front/back and check for whoever opens your rack - I remember someone to have already done this, but only once that the FBI got their server, and they recorded via that webcam the FBI trying to reinstall the server on the same rack supposing that nothing happend... LOL!

Thats awesome

Bitcoin.org has a link to a google search for "bitcoin forums", this site is the first result on that search. Bitcoin.org is the first result on a google search for bitcoin. Problem solved.

in the internet industry, that is a fail. Sad

Google "james" and then google "james tylee"  ... I'd rather win with "james"
54  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google "bitcoin" and take a GOOD LOOK on: September 06, 2012, 04:53:41 AM
Ok...then the seventh result on the first page.  Either way, I think repentance is right, and results are location dependant.

Not location dependent, Google will indeed display results based on watching your trends and searches, but thats localized to your habits.

Clear your cache and temp files.. you get true rankings.

Ah, yea, don't disregard the "News Section" that's still SEO

OK Now we're just being funny.

You have to admit the site has a WEALTH of information... I've already made some friends... I'm meeting one guy for coffee in Virginia, meeting some other people out in Jacksonville FL.  And I can't wait for my next run to NYC.

The site does GREAT THINGS... (aside from all the scam accusations for the poor new guys that are dumb enough to ask for a loan after they hit 5 posts).

I see the thread where the admins are asking for making the site better and some dude is like "3600 BTC" to make it better?

That's insane.  I'm relying on this site to learn and hopefully help USE this currency.  Because I'm already emotionally attached to this site, its frustrating to see it go down often and lag and 404, etc...

I refuse to believe the owners "want to be on the bottom"
58  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google "bitcoin" and take a GOOD LOOK on: September 06, 2012, 04:23:16 AM
Bitcointalk.org doesn't even show up on the first page.  As of this moment its not even number 1 on the SECOND PAGE.

Thank GOD. We've done our job then.

Bitcointalk was created because they were embarrassed to have this community linked to the main bitcoin.org domain. In that regard its doing exactly what its supposed too.

I fail to see the logic... enlighten?  Whats the purpose of this site then?
59  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Google "bitcoin" and take a GOOD LOOK on: September 06, 2012, 04:17:19 AM

This forum, which I agree is here to HELP people overall... has absolutely NO SEO attained.  Hell you don't even have a LOGO in the corner.

SMF... Really?

Is it fair to say that this site (which again, I feel is a GREAT SITE) is only and actually HURTING the Bitcoin communities and projects by not FIGHTING to be up top at number 1?

No one will come here to learn if they can't find it... Not having a logo in the top corner almost makes me lose all sense of pride in coming here.

Again, I'm here for the great people and the learning experience... but how many MORE would come if your resutls were better and the site "appeared as if" the owners and admins "cared for it?"

so it's limited to 1Mbit?

'unlimited' is an industry-wide lie.

Yay!  Someone.

I want an unlimited Hard Drive.  Can I get Unlimited Space.
