Bitstamp under $1000 now. Lame

I love how people make these huge knee jerk reactions and sell off huge amounts rather than being a bit more smart about things. Massive selling on Gox and Stamp right now, no doubt it will recover again within a day or so and just makes everyone and Bitcoin look stupid.

The four-letter abbreviation just sucks. It needs to be three letters. Maybe MBT or MBC. Or maybe just redefine 0.001 BTC as 1 BTC and say that the total supply will be 21 billion instead of 21 million.
It doesn't work like that, there is this thing called SI units, almost every country uses them for things (expect America, they are still using pounds and ounces and cups and other antiquated units) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_System_of_Units#PrefixesPre-fix, i.e. you take the unit (BTC) and put something in front, for example mili, micro, nano etc.

Yeah I read that and had to do a double take! So 99% of them are already mined, how is that a good thing for anyone but the initial developers?
So many altcoins try and "fix" problems with bitcoin, but they just take things to extremes.

Not if he claimed he gambled it all away on satoshi dice?

"Why dont you AT LEAST cash out your initial investment?! You're crazy! So what if its 40% of your current balance, and you'll cut your coin count in half!!"
Me: You don't get it.
I had this repeatedly from my girlfriend. Sold 40BTC to recover £4500, was left with about 30BTC, this was only about a month or so ago... WORST MISTAKE EVER!

One thing that didn't come across/wasn't discussed is that you can divide Bitcoins into smaller parts.
I think we need to move to mBTC before folk begin to understand this. A guy at my work didn't understand this either and he's a programmer like me. He assumed that they could only be moved in whole units and didn't understand how that would work if its a currency. When I explained it can be divided to 8dp, and that could be changed in the future he was like "ahhhhhhh that makes a lot more sense"

I'm waiting for £1000 or approx $1600 that is a nice milestone for me for Bitcoins.

Gotta be time for a bit of a correction on MtGox, its steaming away from BitStamp
I've bought some steam games, also a few items from the following website including a self massager which is really cool: http://electronichealing.co.uk/The downside is something I bought for £150 only a few months ago now effectively cost me about £2200 at todays prices... I don't even want to think about the stuff I bought with Bitcoins last year!!

Depends on if the story is picked up and run with by major news companies ala BBC.
Sir Richard Branson has his fingers in many pies with Virgin, including Virgin Bank. It could be seen to regular folk that this is something worth looking at with him being a rather successful entrepreneur!
Imagine if he decided to accept Bitcoins for Virgin Airlines? Or used Virgin Bank to help with a bitcoin exchange. Sure its highly doubtful, but many others could be thinking the same things.
Perhaps due to the news about Sir Richard Branson and Virgin Galactic accepting Bitcoins?
I just need to the price to hit $7500 and I am on my way to the stars! Also this is the most epic news in a while, on the official site Sir Richard Branson officially states he has some money invested in Bitcoins and thinks this is a great technology. That is a HUGE endorsement and if this news spreads more could get a lot more big wigs interested finally.

It's all great in theory, but not until more work is done to reduce the size of the blockchain growing. Adding all these extra things in will only serve to bloat the chain faster.
A lot of their games aren't even in stock. Looks like a company that just re-sells digital codes they have bought from people?

I don't think we've had enough scams yet, another one is definitely needed for anyone that hasn't yet suffered a loss. Unfortunately this one is so blatantly obvious only a complete mong would fall for it... right?

Even if they did have a flaw / backdoor for SHA2, which is very unlikely, they would be mega retards for ever using it unless it was for a massive security issue. All your internet banking and tons of other things rely on it, if there was an exploit then all hell would break loose!
In terms of the FBI cashing out the silk road BTC, they can only do that once it has gone to trial and a verdict has been decided.
