43  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Bitcointalk forums accounts for sale. Accounts from 2012 just .15btc on: March 26, 2014, 10:15:07 PM
This is proof mods don't give 2 shits about this forum.

Nah, the forum policy allows selling of accounts. We can't really stop it anyway, so better let everyone know that accounts are being sold and traded. Do not trust anyone just because 'their account seems old'/'have a lot of posts'.

Honestly if i'm trying to check if someone's a scammer I just read through a few pages of their latest posts and check the dates. It's pretty easy to tell who's a legitimate trader and who is not.
44  Economy / Economics / Re: IRS is going to tax Bitcoin on: March 26, 2014, 10:11:11 PM
Hi,

Well, Bitcoin has gained a bit more status, the IRS considers it like trading in property.

CNN:  "The Internal Revenue Service has issued a formal notice saying it can tax Bitcoin transactions, calling it a property -- not a currency."
<http://money.cnn.com/2014/03/25/technology/innovation/irs-bitcoin/index.html?iid=HP_LN>

IRS Notice 2014-21:  <http://i.cdn.turner.com/money/2014/images/03/25/IRS_Notice_2014_21.pdf?iid=EL>

cya,

No one except people who are trying to run publicly-seen legitimate businesses that accept btc will be affected by this. Obv, no one else will bother reporting their day-to-day bitcoin trades.

They're hurting the one group we want to grow. If anything, this will just push trading btc for goods back down to the black market.
45  Economy / Economics / Re: I know Gold and Silver are money. Is Bitcoin money? on: March 26, 2014, 10:08:59 PM
All currencies lack 1 if you're applying this universally. Some people find no value in money or luxury resources at all.

Bitcoins lacks 7 and 8, although 7 can be attained given time

Now there's no excuse for other large retailers not to start accepting BTC!

One small step for btc...
47  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Which tax is the least bad? on: March 26, 2014, 10:01:47 PM
Presuming a society has taxes (safe bet there,) some taxes could be considered more intrusive, less efficient, or generally worse than other taxes.

Which taxes do you feel are the least bad?

Bonus points for explaining why; double points for also pointing out the especially egregious taxes, and explaining why.

Forced taxes are a bad idea overall IMO, but if I had to choose one it'd be sales tax.

- very small amount
- doesn't apply to necessities
- doesn't infringe on personal property
- only applies when somebody is making a purchase in an active economy

Your opinion

Add a bitcoin transaction on http://bitbitcoins.com

Technically it already has, but as far as stabilizing at ~$1000 I could def see it happening one day
50  Other / Meta / Re: Images not loading well on: March 26, 2014, 09:50:59 PM
People have been complaining about this the last week or so:

ive been getting about 50/50 luck of images showing over the last few days. Theymos clearly doesnt put much effort into server upgrades for the site
Not sure it's Theymos' fault, nor that it's a server/hardware problem. It seemed to happen all at once, and the rest of the site loads decent.

Subject line says it all

Why have embedded photos stopped working on this site?

It probably is a Chrome thing, due to it not sending the Cookie(s) for some of the images.  Haven't seen any bug reports on that, though.

I use chrome and personally haven't had ANY problems viewing images. I also automatically block cookies.

First official Beef for Bitcoins thread lol

Just Thought it worthy to note that for those in Aus there is http://www.honestbeef.com.au/index.php that excepts Bitcoin.

I have not tried them as I think am too far from them for shipping.

Packs are 20Kg so make sure you have plenty of freezer space.

54  Other / Off-topic / Re: Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. WTF? on: March 26, 2014, 09:30:03 PM
My favorite its been hijacked and is being loaded with a weapon, my guess would be an low altitude EMP that is being deployed by Iran or Russia (sorry Russia... this would just be speculation based on the timing and possible motive of this jet disappearing)

Hijacking it to fit it with some form of weapon is laughable. Iran and Russia have plenty of their own planes. Why hijack one everybody is going to be looking for? ,

Not promoting this theory, but fringe groups exist and operate in countries whose governments don't necessarily approve of their beliefs/actions (especially in the middle east which is rife with secular religious groups). It is, I suppose, still feasibly possible that the plane was hijacked for one reason or another.

are those questions easy to answer?

I worked with a girl who was a vegetarian, who was very nice...opposite of your description.

I should clarify, my girl had a more meek and kind personality (and she never pushed her veganism on anybody), but I have met OTHER vegetarians/vegans that are not so..reserved.

Then one day she came back from lunch with this dazed, happy grin....I figgured she done fallen in love or got stoned or something.  Everyone noticed it.  Asked her what's happened.  Her grin gets bigger and in pure happiness she said...

"I just had a Hamburger...."

Lol, I'm glad she liked it.

While I was growing up, one of my dad's girlfriends was vegetarian (and had been since she was like 15). One time we went to this indian place that we went to somewhat regularly and she ordered the same thing she ordered everytime, only this time she noticed miniscule bits of chicken in it. Apparently, those chicken bits were part of the recipe and she had been eating them everytime we went there. I'll always remember the look on her face when the waiter told her  Shocked

I just watched 'mr. nobody' last night.

A few cheesy cgi moments and some lost potential on the script, but overall the movie was excellent.

7/10, would recommend.
