41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official BlackCoin statement from CryptoRush - Very shocking information on: March 25, 2014, 02:46:02 PM
Its clear to me, at least on reading this that fyrstikken and Linkandzelda believe that the developers of Blaccoin knew about this bug (in other words it was a feature) and used the feature to extract coins as soon as the update went live. Its a feature triggered only by a particular use case, that would likely be used by an exchange and no-one else. It would not certainly be used by an exchange but its likely no-one else would use it in this way. So this feature would only affect exchanges that used the client like this. Perhaps the DDOS was also orchestrated by the coin developers. Now I have no knowledge of what the actual situation  was but that at least is a seems a possibility.  Indeed once the client starts giving balances that are north of the true value by 21e6, you are going to be screwed whatever checks and balances you have.

The law of dealing with any type of stolen property.  This is an old old law, dating back to biblical times and is represented in Uk, US and most modern legal systems.

44  Economy / Goods / Re: Monogrammed Hankerchiefs on: March 08, 2014, 01:08:43 PM
Ok, looking into Black and Blood Red.  Its likely that I'll have to order quite a few of these before I even embroider 1 but I too had thought that Black or red would be nice.

Thanks for the advice.
45  Economy / Goods / Re: Monogrammed Hankerchiefs on: March 06, 2014, 08:50:36 AM
More competitive price you say -

Ok I'll offer at 6$, plus the cost of shipping from the Uk  and there is no minimum order.  Shipping inside the Uk will not be much.

I wont accept escrow, but for a limited number of orders, and at my discretion, I will accept that you pay on receipt of goods, provided the order is made publically here, and you have some time as a Bitcointalk member.

The Bitcoin logo is a great idea, but will require a bit more thought - I cant immediately do it but I may be able to so will think about that.
46  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to Deal with Poloniex situation on: March 04, 2014, 06:19:10 PM
Why not do the 12% levey, but award 12% "other coins" lets call them pcoins. The promise is there to pay these back gradully over time at a rate of 1 bitcoin per pcoin and they sit on your account at the exchange.
So far thats the same as what was proposed.

But now we introduce the chance to trade these pcoins. Its an exchange after all.  Their value in BTC is allowed to float and they can be traded between between accounts on the exchange. Not withdrawn.  At regular intervals a small dividend is paid until one BTC per pcoin has been paid, and then no further dividends will be paid (and the pcoins are likely worthless and will be removed at that time assuming they are.)

This means that people unhappy with the situation can  dispose of their pcoins for what the market will bear - presumably less than 1 BTC  - and those that want to can buy them up at a good price. This seems to me a better way than selling shares which is more complex.

So a bit disappointing that I have so far had no orders..

Long-term Bitcoin enthusiast looking for an honest way to earn Bitcoins....

Anyone got any suggestions as to what I would need to do get some sales?
48  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will hit $1000 by this Friday (07-03-2014) on: March 03, 2014, 09:35:49 PM
Really a prediction without some reasons given is not very interesting.  And a prediction without a reason is just a guess.

I think that Rawted  is saying if you do have a prediction, then you need to share the reasoning with us, otherwise, its just not worth the space of a post.

I mean, I can start a post saying "I'm the greatest" but thats not interesting either. This is bitcointalk, we'd all like to know why you think this and then we might get some interesting discussions going.
49  Economy / Goods / Re: Monogrammed Hankerchiefs on: February 28, 2014, 10:44:08 AM
Hmm, the silence in here is deafening.

Ok, so here is an offer. 10% off the price of the first order I get through this thread, on the understanding that once you have received your order you post here to say what you think.

This offer is for the first person to take it up - once its gone, its gone.

50  Economy / Goods / Re: Monogrammed Hankerchiefs on: February 27, 2014, 01:58:42 PM
So a pack of 5 would be $32.50. This does not include shipping: so I am fairly sure I can ship anywhere. If you want something crazy like overnight, that will, of course be expensive, but normal shipping (which should still arrive in a few days) should be moderate. I recently shipped something to Malasia and that only took a week. To be clear I do need to ship recorded (that is, signed for) because otherwise if you say they haven't arrived I would have to ship again!! It also means that if they do not arrive we can follow this through with the shippers.

What country are you in ?
51  Economy / Goods / Re: Monogrammed Hankerchiefs on: February 27, 2014, 09:54:05 AM
I have changed the price to be in US Dollars, although I should make it clear that dispatch is from the United Kingdom. Since Bitstamp prices are in dollars, it doesnt make any sense to quote in Uk Pounds!.

I appreciate the criticisms that the other two posters make - I am keen to do what it takes to get some orders!! I have an expensive machine sitting here not working. If there is seriously a trust issue here, please get in touch and lets try to resolve that.

Embroidered handkerchiefs are a lovely thing to have - practical too - my 4 year old daughter has all her handkerchiefs embroidered when she goes to nursery, and guess what they come back to here when she looses them !! They make a great present for a girl or a guy, and (get this!!) they are guaranteed non fattening!! They can of course be washed by hand or by machine time and time again. So it a permanent thing. People say that they are not hygenic, but if you have enough for at least one a day or more when you have a cold, then you will find that they are more hygenic than tissues!! One lady I made some for decided to give them instead of Christmas cards!

So tldr; Who will buy these wonderful items!!

52  Economy / Goods / Re: Monogrammed Hankerchiefs on: February 25, 2014, 09:04:32 PM
Thanks very much for your comments:

Hankerchiefs are 14 by 14.5 inches.  In terms of a limit on the number of letters, there is no hard and fast rule - i can do it smaller if you want more letters but I said one word just to put it in the realms of reasonability. I can not write an essay!!

Escrow? Well I have to make the handkerchiefs before I send them and I have said I will only post it recorded delivery. So if it doesn't arrive you ask me for the tracking number. If its not your address you call me out. If I don't send it you call me out. I have been a member of this forum for a few years, and I am sure if anybody said it did not arrive, I would never sell another handkerchief!! Post it here!! Good feedback too please.
But I have to make these before you receive them and if you change your mind I am out of pocket. So for the moment I am saying no to Escrow. Its not as if I can sell your goods to anyone else. I'm trying to start a business here is it likely that I would not send?

Some pictures of one I just made being made and completed below.

53  Economy / Goods / Monogrammed Hankerchiefs on: February 24, 2014, 04:17:59 PM
So Here is the offer -

Monogrammed white cotton handkerchiefs - you can have a letter, initials or a first name (But first name and second name will usually be too long) embroidered onto the handkerchief for the equivalent of US $6.5 at current Bitstamp ask price when I receive the order.

For that matter you can have something funny or odd on your hankerchief, up to you. (Sissy, Macho Man, Playboy, use your imagination here, you decide!!)

Minimum order is 5 handkerchiefs (the same) , and I will post at cost anywhere in the world. Please state the colour in your email. (eg Blue, Red, Pink, Green, Gold,  but I have many colours just say what you would like.)

Email me your order, address and country, I will calculate postage and send you back the price in Bitcoins. Once you pay I shall start working on your order, which will usually be dispatched in a matter of days.
Packages will be sent registered. (No option to send unregistered I am afraid.)  Once dispatched, I shall send you the tracking code.

Please send me a private message with your order if interested.  Any questions can be asked on this topic.  This is a genuine attempt to run a business in Bitcoins!!

Disappointed. I like sausages.
55  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will Bitcoin reach $ 3,333,333.00 in 2034 ? on: December 21, 2013, 02:51:27 PM
I do feel that he has missed one thing out of this calculation.

Old technologies die slowly. The main death happens rapidly, but the old stalwarts continue to use it long after they should. There are still places (I believe where you can send telegrams.) There will still be (a few) people watching Cathode Ray Tubes long after we all switch to flat screen. And although its troublesome to buy them, some still insist on incandescent bulbs, or even candles for a variety of reasons.

So its probably true that bitcoin will never replace 100% of the money supply and I dont think in 20 years much will have been replaced. My estimate (given all the other assumptions) is 10%. Thats opinion of course.
So maybe not 28800  $/BTC but (in round figures)  3000 $/BTC.

So thats my 2 Satoshis!
56  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: anyone honest in this forum wants to sell small amount of btc??? on: December 14, 2013, 08:26:08 PM
Bittylicious.com ? Payment by bank transfer to the seller, bitcoins usually within minutes or hours, fully escrowed.
57  Economy / Marketplace / Re: New Fast Bitcoin Exchange in the Netherlands on: June 25, 2013, 11:32:22 PM
Great news. We need more exchanges.

So I am a little worried about people stealing my cash on exchanges, for this reason I would like the concept of binding a bank account to a account to be a 1 time event. You add your bank account for withdrawal purposes at account creation time, and thats it, its unchangeable.

Did I say unchangeable, well , ok its a SLOW event, that takes many days and involves email or sms notifications. or other security.

I'd like the adding of a bitcoin address to be similarly immutable. You can add a bunch of them, they get used in rotation, but once added you cannot add more, or maybe over a few days.

So your account is hacked, what can they do. Withdraw your money to your accounts, or trade your money, thats all.

I want to be able to choose the password I use - none of this oh it must be upper / lower case and contain an underscore business, remembering passwords is hard and resetting them ought to be hard, and I need to
freely choose the password or I cannot remember it.  Warnings about too short are fine and should preferably be grounded in terms of it would take X hours of computer Y to crack that!!

I'd like 2 factor confirmation of any withdrawal, via my email, send me a pin!

Good luck with your venture.

Nice 7 minute piece about Bitcoin on the BBC

(But I think only visible in uk. :-(   )

Pretty positive and I would say quite accurate.
59  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Difficulty Not An Issue? on: June 06, 2013, 06:46:55 PM
Um, it seems only fair to mention that before Josh joined BFL, he ran one of the larger mining pools. As far as I know he still does, and he does this from his own premises which happen to be in the same town as BFL.  Thats where he lives and why he accepted a job at BFL!! This much is pretty mush established fact if you look at thr history through previous posts.

I dont know if BFL are mining or not, and I dont know when or even if I will get my equipment from BFL, but the above is pretty relevant to this thread.
60  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PSA: Bitcoin's survival and long term prospects depend on MtGox getting killed. on: May 15, 2013, 06:17:59 PM
I Agree with OP. Vote with your feet people. I personally have found Bitstamp pretty satisfactory.
