Hi guys hoping to get some feedback on my room plan:

#1 is my current plan: pull cold air in from the window and push them over rigs with fans behind each rig, then pull hot air out from the front of the rigs and use an exhaust fan in the ceiling to collect hot air and exhaust it out of the roof.  This should be sufficient cooling for about the ~105 GPUs I can fit on that shelving unit

HOWEVER! I would like to leave open the possibility of expanding in the future without having to move the exhaust fan's ceiling location. So I was wondering if #2 would work if I double my size. As you can see I'd be using fans on the ground to push the incoming air up at all the rigs but I'm unsure if that 15 ft (4.5m) is too much distance to hope to carry the air.

Fwiw, I'm dealing with 75-85 Fahrenheit (24-29c) ambient temps

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

You could probably get better temps using a duct to get the cold air as low as possible. That way cold air would be pulled up through the rigs and out the top exhaust. You could also split the ducts and have two cold air ports, one for each shelving unit. Just make sure you have more exhaust than intake, you don't want to positive pressure the room as this might disrupt the airflow. Also might want to suggest brillow pads on the intake just for light dust, debris filtration.

I sold some WCT for BTC in the wallet. But when I try to withdraw the BTC, I get a "station error". Can someone please explain why? Thanks.

Why would you do that, the way things are headed we'll be over $5 by next fortnight?

Since you are such an expert on the future, please help answer my original question.

If you'd asked nicer I would, but since you asked like that, figure it out for yourself, dumbass!

Because I'm a nice guy I'll give you a hint, you need to pay the piper.

A transaction fee? I have enough waves to pay a transaction fee.

windjc, I'll make you a deal I'll trade you all of my waves for all of your IOTA. Sounds fair right? Smiley

Had to give it a shot. Hope you held most of it. Thanks again for the OTC sale long ago. Big things coming for that project and Waves!

Have you guys found using wood rig frames has any affect on room cooling vs using aluminum frames or whatever?

I dont have a ton of rigs but I dont think something like this would really matter. Best answer to this is to look into the thermal conductivity of the type of material your rig frame is built from.

K Value (therm cond)

Aluminum = 205
Wood = 0.12-0.4

So obviously the thermal conductivity of the aluminum is much much better. The wood will retain more heat and swell much more than than the aluminum however it is not electrically conductive (mostly Wink)

Probably more important in the wood vs aluminum debate is thermal expansion. Linear growth coefficient for aluminum is about 23 and for wood it can vary from 54 to 27. So wood rigs will "swell" more than the aluminum frames.

Aluminum rig Pros:
Frame strength
Corrision resistance
Better thermal properties

Cons:
Electrically conductive
More expensive
Harder to make

Wood Frame Pros:
Cheap to make
More simple to customize
Won't conduct electricity

Cons:
Will expand and contract more
Can rot, bugs, absorb moisture
Could catch fire

I'm a cheap skate so I go wood build and have always used this guide because I can make them in 20 min.

Holy shit LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL You are the ultimate troll dolores

You should see this dumb motherfucker in the Mobile GO ICO thread. Dolores legitimately goes on a rampage against the devs calling them scammers and scam coin and how he should get refunds and all this stupid shit we've all become accustomed too, then the devs come on and show him he made a math error and was completely wrong. The guy has the most basic grip on the English language and apparently has a CAPS lock key that only gets pressed every time he gets laid. If you notice its very rare...

pls can someone explain me

i have invest 3400 gamecredits at  the time i send to ico av price of game was 1 usd so i have invest 3400 usd

now on dashboard i have almost 17.800 mobilego tokens..with Total Funds Raised To Date $14,612,348.81

so av price on my token is 0.14,6 ( $14,612,348.81 /100.000.000 )  if i do 0.14,6 x 17800 its 2800 usd

why the fuck i am - 600 usd on my investment ?  Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked pls this must be wrong ..or ico token calculation is a fucking trap ...i need an answer now!!

ps  ico investors pls do the math and report whats going on thanks

Yes, because your math is wrong. We aren't selling the 100 million coins, we're selling 70 million to investors. So the price per coin would be 14,612,348.81/70,000,000 which equals .208 per coin x 17,800 = 3,715.7 USD.

Marketcap on coinmarketcap will be based on 100 million, but we aren't selling or liquidating the 30 million. So the price will be determined by the 70 million investors hold and are willing to sell at.

lol lol yes true !!! i was wrong...i forgot that ...we pay for 70m ...other 30m tokens are reserved  Grin Grin

I think if you guys are building large budget rigging operations you need to really take into account coin stability. I realize the term "Stability" is almost an oxymoron in crypto, but I would not want to build a $15-30k  Nvidia only mining operation and have ZEC drop 30% in value in a week. Eth over the last year has a strong history of development and ecosystem. Zec has not developed or proven itself as far as ETH has. Diversify as Phil does and maybe have 20 AMD rigs on Eth 20 Nvidia rigs on Zec. Spending $699 per card on 1080 Tis is not cost efficient if ZEC value plummets and ETH stay the same. You now have those same cards mining eth when you could have saved $450 per card and just bought 480's anyway. I guess i'm just saying perhaps its better to diversify for long term stability. Thoughts?

Yes you are right! This is a very important reason for me to build my own rig. So i can switch between coins if i need to. With 480 you do ETH, MONERO, ZCASH, etc

But in fact if i do calculations i start always with ETH, because just like you, me believe is the strongest in this coin ;-)

I really did not get the point why the 1080 was so more expensive, while i does not so much better on ETH, but now i think i get the point... Its because the guy who posted it maybe is mining zcash, and for him this card is the best?

But after a few days research i noticed the RX 470 or RX 480 are perfect. Sapphire should be the best, but i see that the difference between brands is not so big so whatever. 4gb is MORE then enoufh for ETH, but if i want to mine litecoin maybe in future (when price go up more and more) then i should keep in mind that i need 8gb for that.

And also the OC version's should be a bit better because its better for OVERCLOCKING?

I just wanted to share my idea after some days of research :-)

I wouldn't even bother mining Litecoin with GPU's since those new L3+ ASICS give you 504 MH/s and that blows any GPU rig out of the water. The RX470/480 or the newer 5xx series cards are certainly the way to go if you are mining Ethereum. It might be worth it to buy the 8 GB cards though since the DAG is getting larger and larger and you will have until 2019 for 8 GB mining. The other main thing might be that Ethereum might switch to POS because of the problems with EThash being too memory reliant. Just my 2 cents. I believe in Zcash and if development goes as planned it will do quite well. The other upside is there a huge mining cycle left for ZEC while ETH POW mining is on the inevitable decline.

Yeah dont try mining any LTC with GPUs thats been overwith for a while now. You're burning too much electricity for little profit. I don't run 4GB cards so i'm not sure what they're hashing.I have several rigs of rx 480 8Gbs, and they are running around 29.5 mh/s on Eth+Decred after strapping and some afterburner adjustments.  I have one zec rig right now which is basically the sad bastard child of my old 280X mining rigs from last year. They are pulling around 300 sol/s each at 210 watts, so not very efficient but still making profit on totally paid off gear. If Eth switches to POS don't worry everyone will go to ETC. Eth and Vitalik have too much money now and they will create some shitty halfway step between POS and POW.

I'm getting angry with my first GPU that I bought (it is a MSI 470), I have downloaded the Geth and it's take a lot to get synced but at the end it doesn't work, it gets corrupted or something like that.

philipma1957 can you please guide me where to start, I have seen many threads and sources from google but I'm getting stucked and unable to start mining ethereum.

Just point the miner at nicehash and auto convert to btc.

Didn't do this but I bought an SSD and removed 1 RAM as I had 2x 8GB RAM and seems that now it get synchronized.

I'm very very new to mining could you guide me something about automatization as it gets stucks and I need to restart both eth and the other bat file

I'm getting 19MH/s with MSI 470 but I think it should be more, should I overclock/volt it?

Search YouTube for a video on how to strap memory timings. This should get you to 23-24MH/s. You can further raise your memory click to 1950 MHz , drop your core clock to 1100 MHz, and under-volt your chip to 0.94-0.99v.

This should get you to 26-27 MH/s or so.

I second the suggestion for strapping. Its incredibly easy to do if you just do it right and follow the steps and make backups. I brought 4 rx 480s from 24 Mh/s to 29.8 Mh/s each. Thats an extra 23.2 MH/s so basically a free card. They don't run any hotter or use more voltage than before strapping.
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: May 04, 2017, 08:10:34 PM
@fullzero is probably right and POS is not a good scheme (most likely), but I would like someone try and see what happens just for a sake that all possibilities are investigated.
You will still need a good computer and reliable connection to participate, so computing is involved, it is not exactly a bank account.

Regarding numbers, I think that they aim at 1-2% yearly coin addition (eth). This comes from not every coin participating in POS. If such thing happens soon, ethereum would actually have lower current inflation rate in comparison with bitcoin. Participating coins would be paid something around 5%, more or less. Theoretically, you can POS-mine with CPU and POW mine with GPU, so why not?

Finally, Ethereum founders ALWAYS maintained that ethereum would eventually go POS, so miners should have been prepared for a transition.

Waves is using POS and LPOS right now (Leased Proof of Stake). Community is torn between "Hey i'm making money by doing nothing but leaving my coins in my wallet" and "Wow, the rewards for leasing are really shitty. Fees generated are low and we need more transactions." So far the general consensus is that it is a good thing, and over time with more adoption, POS will net a lower return than POW mining but will promote accumulation of coins. If people are hording coins to get better rewards from POS than that creates a bearish market place.

If Eth goes to POS, miners will be pissed and accumulators will be happy. The bad part is that probably 75% of all transactions done in Eth are due to mining and redistributing mining rewards anyway. So if going to POS means less transactions, then less rewards for staking. Am I correct on this?

Tytanik is there actually updates goin on right now? When  try to remote into my rig I'm getting a message that maintenance is going on for 30-60 min yet I've noticed my rig has one card down not mining for about 5 hours now. It could just be my hardware but I've never had a card crash on me and I've never seen this update message before.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: May 04, 2017, 01:18:54 PM
I think the return on leasing waves is actually pretty terrible right now. Unless we start getting a ton of traffic and transactions to boost fees leasing is not something I'm excited about. I am excited that the LPOS system is working and that is huge props to the dev team and Sasha.

I feel like if I have 10000k in waves I can sell that for $7000 and make 3 GPU mining rigs that will net me $7k in 2.5 months, have a wallet full of tokens and I now have 18 GPUs paid off that I can continue to mine profitable coins with or sell second hand on eBay. I wont be selling my waves since we're making lots of good progress and I'd really like to permanently trade my coins on DEX from now on instead of using polo and coinbase, but just my thoughts on the stat of LPOS right now.

Its just to risky for me to go in on the iBelink GB.

There are huge drawbacks:
$5700 for equipment is a lot to me
Difficulty rise after everyone receives miners 3 months later (I know there will be those who get them early and really make out like bandits and jack up diff.)
Actual hardware reliability (hashrate tracking seems to go up and down from what i've seen and not holding 10.5 GH/s)
And the biggest for me: This could be vaporware!!!

The ACTUAL risks do not outweigh the POTENTIAL benefits for me. If the GB guys get these going in 90 days and make a fortune that is awesome for them, I really hope they do! I won't feel bad because i was left out, or scared to jump.

I will feel bad if I lose $5700 on a shit miner that may or may not even exist. These machines sound too good to be true and I'd rather make less money on something guaranteed than gamble on a machine I have seen nothing but a youtube video of.

What do you guys think are they the real deal?
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: iBelink DM11G - Group Buy - $5700 on: May 03, 2017, 03:48:42 PM
Can you elaborate on why the Friday deadline?

Why are these purchasing contracts for these so short on time?

From what I know the manufacturer is ready to start the production of units and have given any Batch 1 customers a deadline to show up in Beijing in person and sign contracts.

There are several groups that are buying miners from the first production batch. The terms are the same for all groups, and one of the requirements is 100 units minimum order quantity. That's it.

If there are several groups and the minimum is 100 units, imagine the nuclear difficulty that it's going have on DASH.

Network hashrate for DASH is about 3TH, so if each iBelink DM11G does 10GH x 100 units = 1TH x 2 Group Buys = 2TH.

So that is more than half of the network hash added that is going be online. Anyone know how to calculate profits with the difficulty when that much is added? Lol

It seems pretty unrealistic to me that with current calculations, it says ROI is 30 days or less even at 0.30c kilowatt.

On that note, I'm down for this unicorn ride. Count me in as 1 if only philipma1957 is escrow, I trust him with my money. Did group buys with him before. I can only send bank wire. Hope you got a good tax accountant philipma1957, lol. Let me think for now. LOL

Difficulty is going to skyrocket if 500+ of these units go online. Which will in turn hurt the profitability as time goes on, thats crypto though.

Kilo: I may be down for one of these be right now I'm on the no side. Seems like the only proof we have is one video and tracking hashrate that seems to be dropping or not maintaining the 10GH rating. Having escrow through phil is great and I 100% trust you and the other guys in the group buy, I'm just a little afraid of vaporwaring $5700 down the drain. Is there anything else out there to give a little more confidence in iBelink?

Phil just got the RX480's delivered at the house, will be installing them tomorrow or Wednesday. You happen to remember what settings you ran with them? I will start there for baseline testing. Thanks.

well on smOS i did

1150 core

2150 memory

0 power stage

70% fan.

I always ran them on smOS

for zec i did

1175
2050
1 power stage

70% fan

Phil, been fiddling with the cards for a week now in smOS and think I found a pretty stable OC for them all. I flashed all 4 cards and was able to get much better speeds in both Ethereum mining and Eth+Decred.

Using your values above I was able to get around 24.5 MH/s dual mining with eth at around 135 watts. After flashing I was able to reach speeds around 29.3 MH/s dual mining and dropping memclocks to 2185 (2200 was too unstable I saw big fluctuations in MH/s).

Right now after flashing I'm sitting around 117 MH/s for Eth while dual mining.

They will solo mine eth at 30.4 MH/s. I will be testing them on ZEC soon.

Using custom .bat on claymore v9.3:

-wd 1 -r 1 -epool stratum+tcp://eth-us-east1.nanopool.org:9999 -ewal $walletETH/$rigName -esm 0 -epsw x -allpools 1 -mport -3333 -dpool stratum+tcp://dcr.suprnova.cc:3252 -dwal worker.1 -dpsw x -dcri 30

Will be fine tuning Powerstage (currently 4) and testing stability. Cards have worked flawlessly thanks!

You dont hold 100 BTC, you don't even hold 10, you're a bottom feeding scrub who just enjoys trolling. You change your signature every time theres an ICO, you spam post nonsense on every board, that's little fish stuff. Someone profiting 100 BTC a year does not do that. So STFU because we're tired of seeing you and no one cares anymore.
