41  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: My small(but growing) mining farm on: October 24, 2018, 08:49:12 PM
Good job bro, i hope you will be able to ROI , looks like a lot of money is spent on setting up the farm aside from the cost of asics and psus, as for the cooling, since you have that much space and relatively a small number of machines, try to keep a distance between them, that will help in keeping both temps and fans low.

Thanks, luckily industrial power is pretty inexpensive here so I can still maintain profitability. I will give the spacing a shot come spring time I’ll just need to invest in some extension cords for that.

Yes, I can see it too, it's worth to mine while it's so profitable, I do not think that this profitability will last long.
I disagree, I believe the hype in regards to LCC releasing their hivemining will make the value of each coin increase.
43  Bitcoin / Mining / My small (but growing) mining farm on: October 24, 2018, 07:25:50 PM
Some of you may know, I used to have my machines remotely hosted years ago. This was basically because the cost of power in Connecticut is the third highest in America. I knew I was moving to Michigan so in January of 2018 I started looking for a perfect facility. This ended up being one of the hardest parts as industrial rental properties were far too large and too high of rent, and the commercial spaces lacked the appropriate power.

I ended up finding a hybrid space in April which was perfect. The front has an office and the back is about 1000sq ft of garage space, with 25 feet high ceilings and an overall length and width of roughly 50'x15'. I have room for roughly 2000 miners given the high ceilings. The problem was the current panel was only 200amps with mostly 120v, so I had to spend a decent amount getting another 200amp panel installed full of 3 phase 230v breakers.

So my current setup consists of 24-120v outlets on 20amp breakers and 12-230v outlets on 20amp breakers. I started off with 19-S9s and 6-T9s. Now I am utilizing pdu's to expand before having to expand with another 400amp panel. I already have the local electric company coming next week to provide a site survey for my transformer upgrade. Reason being, once I hit 55 machines I will be at max capacity.

Now I have acquired 10 more s9s and 1 z9, and hope to acquire another 10 in the next few weeks. Being 25 feet tall ceilings I came across a new challenge. The extensive height of the ceilings made the hot air pool up at the metal roof and come down like a thick fog drowning the miners in heat. So the solution was a 30000cfm upblast exhaust fan in the roof and mesh holes in the garage door for air suction in. I am still building and had to spend a lot of time fixing cosmetics, but here are my machines as they stand now. Attached is the video of the space after I installed the fan (still working on cosmetics as a construction company was here previously and left it in pretty rough shape).

https://youtu.be/cxmjioInNq0

Attached is a picture of the expansion occurring.

Questions, comments, recommendations certainly welcome. (Yes those plastic racks will go in favor of the black and the cabling will get sorted once my electrician comes and tells me what can/cannot be done and where.

Been mining here for 3 weeks and accumulated nearly 1k hush.

Seeing 30% greater earnings daily than mining bitcoin directly with my farm.

Theyre not allowing any pre-orders either for the next batch, so it appears to be pointless for them to even have these products listed on their site. Who knows if anyone outside of the great wall receives them.

Added a z9 mini to my farm and have it chugging along on kmd.

Have the latest wallet and staking is still not working...I was under the impression nothing had to be done to receive staking interest. (Similar to agama with Komodo)
50  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9 boards no longer hashing on: April 17, 2018, 05:02:48 PM
some first thoughts..

Have you measured the dc voltage?

Have you tried another PSU?

Have you tried swapping a control board from a working unit and see if it starts working ok or not?
Also forgot to mention. The voltage does vary by a couple of volts from outlet to outlet. In this specific region of the us, the 110 outlets read in the 120-130 range. The 220 read the n the 220-230 range.
51  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 stops mining on: April 16, 2018, 08:32:02 PM
Thanks I might try that. I have an extra power supply. I'll try switching them and see if that helps. It's still running when it's not hashing which is why I didn't think about a new power supply.

Try a better ETH cable.

A cat 7

Not a cat 5.

Will cat 6 cut it or no? I am having the same problems as this person with only two machines out of 25. Could the cat6 be the culprit?

Will give it a shot and report back. Thanks.
53  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9 boards no longer hashing on: April 15, 2018, 11:52:59 PM
I saved the current firmware as a backup and just tried bitmains firmware from their site with no change. Very odd as nothing changed in the 24 hours it was mining. No power surge, no power outages nor brownouts. Just went to bed with it mining happily and woke up to it mining at 0 speed with no chips recognized.
54  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9 boards no longer hashing on: April 15, 2018, 11:43:14 PM
Controller swapped with a spare, same with the psus (but also hp 1200w psus), fans also changed and Ethernet cable changed. I’m stumped.
55  Bitcoin / Mining support / S9 boards no longer hashing on: April 15, 2018, 11:11:49 PM
I recently relocated my mining farm to a new location. (19 S9s, 6 T9s). I repackaged everything in their original boxes for the haul to the new location (700 miles away). Upon setting up the farm in the new location, 2 of my s9s now occasionally fall into some sort of limp mode (hashing two of the three boards) and one stops mining altogether. I have ordered new power supplies for the two that sometimes mine on two of three boards. (All of my machines run on HP Platinum series 1200w PSUs). The power outlets of the farm are half 120v half 230v. Oddly enough, the machines acting up are the ones plugged into 230v. However, when I swap these machines over to 120v now, they still show the same symptoms. Should I purchase the bitmain power supplies and give those a shot? Kernel log data below.

I have one S9 that stops mining completely and hasnt mined for a couple of days now. I am going to try a new power supply. (I currently use HP1200w platinum power supplies, I am going to source a bitmain psu and give that a shot). It worked fine for 24 hours, now doesnt mine at all.

You have to ask the bitcoin atom team for that. This is a pool thread.

Whoever is renting hashpower right now to mine bca and dumping on exrates. You need to understand, when you drive up the difficulty 5x and you sell for whatever buy offer you see, you are dramatically destroying profitability. In just three days of renters mining bca 250terahashes went from earning over 200bca a day to just 50, and the price has been driven down from over .003 to .002. This means you just reduced profitability of mining this coin 5x in just three days time. The volume is low enough on exrates where if you are mining hundreds of coins a day you can dictate which way the market will go. Be smart with your renting/mining/trading.
