41  Economy / Economics / Re: Money Matters on: September 12, 2018, 09:38:33 AM
When consumers can't afford things they might counsel themselves by saying: "money isn't everything". As if to declare they benefit on a non material level by lacking the funds necessary to afford things.
At the end of the day, rich people can also say that "money is not everything" especially if they obtained their riches by trampling others(for example a corrupt politician or a drug lord who is not happy with their life).
Isn't it interesting that those who pontificate that "Money is not everything" usually have money?
While I do disagree with Hydrogen's point at some degree, I can at least say that those who are poor also console themselves by saying the same thing thus making everyone able to pontificate that statement.
42  Economy / Economics / Re: Breaking: Winklevoss’ Gemini Launches U.S. Dollar-Pegged Cryptocurrency on: September 11, 2018, 12:30:23 PM
If what Voltaire said is true and "fiat money always returns to its intrinsic value of zero" then why would anyone ever want their currency pegged to fiat which history may dictate is destined to crash, eventually?
The reason for that should be obvious to anyone. People want their currency to be pegged with fiat because of the trust of the citizens fiat currency gained from the backing of the government and central banks.
A trusted stable coin may allow more whales enter in the game and destabilize Bitcoin trading even more.
Entering of more whales in the game would not only destabilize bitcoin trading. It will also destabilize cryptocurrency trading as a whole, including the not well-known altcoins.
43  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How to create a cryptocurrency? on: September 11, 2018, 11:12:49 AM
Basically there are three ways to whish you can create a cryptocurrency which are:
Are you really reading mate? You only answered the question in the title but it is not related to the OP at all. OP here is offering services including the creation of own cryptocurrency for other companies.
Contact us if you would like to know more about our services or have any questions. Please fill in the form below. Our customer service department will contact you to assist you as fast as possible.
OP, I believe this thread is not suitable for Project Development since you are offering services here. You would have more luck in looking for customers in Services board or on Marketplace(altcoins).
44  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Difficulties (ups and downs) faced in trading? on: September 11, 2018, 07:40:30 AM
If you're a beginner, it's better to focus in buying more bitcoin and less than altcoins
Beginners can focus on buying altcoins as well so long as the altcoin they choose to invest into have long history and did not experience a pump recently. Focusing only on trading bitcoin would not help them gain more knowledge on trading cryptos.
Aside from actually trying to learn and study first before going in, I always suggest that new traders should always use only a very small percentage of their total trading stack(probably 5%, depending on how much the total stack is) to start their trading.
That would depend on how much money they got on their portfolio IMO. If a beginner's portfolio is less than 100$, it is better to start with 15% of their money in crypto rather than 5%.
45  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Huge difference in ETH, BTC and fiat pair. on: September 10, 2018, 09:43:39 PM
I wanna buy some CPChain (CPC) but I'm looking at https://www.livecoinwatch.com/price/CPChain-CPC
And I notice the huge difference in ETH, BTC and fiat pair.
Why is this? ETH has a +70% change in the last 30 days.
While BTC and usd only have about a +4% change.
Since it is running on a free market, a huge difference in different pairs is not that uncommon. On a free market, the pair with most volume is the one who is constantly being updated and the pair/s that have low volume can sometimes differ in price. Also, the price is dependent on what price the market is willing to buy and sell a certain coin in a certain pair. From the statistics you gave, my only conclusion is that ETH pair had a +70% change instead of only +4% like the other pairs because it had more trading volume at that time and traders are willing to buy and sell at a higher rate than usual in that pair.
46  Other / Meta / Re: Programmable merit sent on: September 10, 2018, 10:13:36 AM
Theymos can easily implement that but a mere program cannot identify who makes a quality post that contributes to the community. If you are worried about merit sources, there are people assigned as merit sources(with replenishing sMerits stock) who goes around giving people merit for quality posts that contribute to the community although their judgement can somehow be affected by a subjective opinion sometimes.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Growth Nears Ceiling, Ethereum Co-Founder Buterin Says on: September 09, 2018, 01:03:05 PM
Does this mean that future investment in crypto will be unprofitable, and will the bull market no longer exist?
You should pay no heed to statements made by experts like Vitalik Buterin because most of the times they act for their interest and profit. Crypto will always be profitable and the bull market will still exist so long as people use it for speculative purposes. An average joe might have heard blockchain at least once but the question is if they already own any crypto of some sort? Of course not. Keep in mind that so long as crypto can be developed further, there will be no ceiling in sight since bull run will continue.
48  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Philippine Standard Towards this community on: September 09, 2018, 11:15:45 AM
So he got his education elsewhere and moved to the Philippines, correct? That's quite different from actually being born and raised here.
At least being born and raised here is not an excuse for anyone who really wants to learn computer programming. I know a dozen people who are raised here in the Philippines but earns the same amount as what Moloch's friend earned and knows how to build websites(albeit their skill on it being self-taught).
I couldn't agree more, they would be much better off learning a real skill instead of spending tim eon this forum begging for scraps.
We can't blame them for doing so because most of them are just doing bounty in their free time.
49  Economy / Speculation / Re: Settled at ~$6400 for now? on: September 09, 2018, 09:48:29 AM
I think that's already priced in.
It is not already priced in IMO. I believe that it will be priced in ones we hear the news about ETF rejection or approval again. Either way, I think this BlackRock ETF have a bigger chance of acceptance in SEC because of it will track multiple cryptocurrencies that are currently listed in Coinbase's wallet.
And everyone can see it, but some refuse to do so.
Well, some newbies don't because they didn't care to research bitcoin's price history at all.
50  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Buying from bitcoin.com? on: September 08, 2018, 10:37:49 PM
can somebody from New Zealand or Australia buy BTC or BCH from them using their credit card?
I am not someone from New Zealand or Australia but you might want to try using Paybis to purchase bitcoins using credit card balance and if you want some bitcoin cash, buy it on exchanges after you have bought some bitcoins. You can also refer to this site to choose which exchange is the best to use in buying bitcoins when the first option above did not work for you. They might be complicated to use but at least it is better than bitcoin.com
51  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Binance Founder, Zhao Changpeng Interview! on: September 07, 2018, 01:14:27 PM
I did not understand either because they mentioned FCoin
The article linked by OP probably is trying to shill FCoin using binance's popularity(although Zhao Changpeng's statement is completely unrelated to FCoin).
what does FCoin have to do with binance?
Based from their main website FCoin is a trading platform and if you are asking how the two is related, then I can say that they are only both platforms used in trading. Besides that, the two company behind it itself is not related to each other(and neither does Zhao Changpeng praised the technology behind FCoin).
52  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Hits $24,000 In Iran on: September 06, 2018, 12:23:33 PM
Reading the article, I felt I was outdated in the news like I didn't know that the value of bitcoin can differ to other countries, how can it be possibly? It's totally absurd to think.
That price of bitcoin there is made possible because of the massive increase in the inflation rate of their national currency, IRR.
I don't think it even hit close to $20k, but rather $2k, since it was only 101,800,000 rial recorded on their exchange.
If that is the case, then its value would be approximately 2417.77$ but it is still absurd because of the discounted selling price. It is still sitting in a good price to do arbitrage trading IMO by buying there in Iran and selling it on international exchanges. It would be a lot easier to move those funds rather than selling there.
53  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Storing data on blockchain on: September 06, 2018, 10:32:33 AM
Is there any way we can storing a song or a movie on blockchain ?
I believe Enigma and Storj are made to fulfill that purpose although they are focused more on the security of the data you will store. Maybe in the future, there will be a blockchain implementation that will have the same functions as Google drive.
What kind of data do you need to store? What are you going to use it for?
Based on OP's quoted post above, maybe he is planning to store a file with a large file size or probably a backup image of his own PC(containing sensitive data such as his private keys).
54  Other / Meta / Re: Scammers entering on the forum without obstacles on: September 06, 2018, 08:16:36 AM
Probably is true that people just need to learn and stop investing time and money in things that are dubious or "too good to be true". That is the easiest solution.  Smiley
I would not expect that solution to work because it is impossible for everyone to learn and stop investing time and money on scams. Take con men and Ponzi scheme founders as an example. How were they able to scam people despite the rampant information spread about typical scams? The best solution to the problem at hand IMO is the strict regulation of announcement thread and marketplace posts(if theymos decides to help fight against in this forum).
It means just opening a economic opportunities for red tag as there is no rule that say Bounty cannot be manged  by the user having red trust.
Only fools will try to invest into ICOs managed by them because red tagged members have visible warnings under their profile. Anyone who didn't heed the warning beforehand is either an utter fool or someone who just invests blindly and does not read or do his research before investing.
55  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Margin Trading during a possible bull market? on: September 05, 2018, 11:36:10 AM
You are just better holding your BTC or maybe buying some promising alts and hope for the best. Don't try and get greedy because you might get margin called and then the bull market will happen; without you.
You are right that OP is better off holding his bitcoins if he only learned margin trading recently but IMO he can use at least a little portion of his portfolio to try it, for education's sake.
I know this method of trading is EXTREMELY risky. Do you have any recommended guides for being a successful margin trader? Of course the master will not share their secrets, but there has to be a quality guide or information out there.
I don't know if this will help you, but you can refer to this site for information about how margin trading works. After reading the information that can be found on the site, try searching up margin trading more here in bitcointalk and then educate yourself by trying it for education's sake. Just remember to only invest what you can afford to lose.
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The quality of the bounty has dropped very badly. on: September 05, 2018, 10:39:56 AM
This is a manifestation of the decline of the market. It seems that ICO model has been difficult to finance enough money now, so these ICO-based bounty, the risk of not paying is also getting higher and higher.
It is not the manifestation of the market decline but rather the dropping quality of bounties and ICOs are caused by developers who want to get money real quick by proposing repetitive ideas/products on their ICO(which is typically not better than its competitors). This in turn results to ICO's failure.
It's hard to find a satisfying bounty /ico now,how long do you think the bounty can live?
Bounties will be there so long as people use ICOs to gather funds for projects here in cryptospace.
57  Economy / Reputation / Re: "btcltcdigger Bounty Manager" Abusing Bounty Hunters on: September 05, 2018, 09:03:54 AM
You might want to move this thread to Scam accusations section or on Reputation section because IMO discussing alleged bounty manager abuse does not belong in altcoin discussions. Also, someone can give you a better answer if you can provide the name of the bounty campaign you have joined or its bounty thread. Showing a screenshot of telegram conversations is not a proof enough to prove bounty manager's abuse since he might have removed you because of terms and conditions or you might have had violated a rule.
58  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN IS THE BEST HOUSE IN A TOUGH MARKET? on: September 05, 2018, 08:01:16 AM
Most of the new investors coming into the crypto space are really emotional investors and doesn't understand that fluctuations of values are just normal since bitcoin is very volatile.
It is normal that they didn't understand the normality of bitcoin price's fluctuation, most of them are just people who get drawn to bitcoin because they heard that somebody got rich quick by investing into it after all. Since they didn't research about bitcoin's history, it is a given that they only know little about its volatility. Either way, bitcoin being the best in a bearish market IMO is not the result of its utility but instead, it is the result of the trust of the community bitcoin itself has built up over the years.
59  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Electric cars are the future, but not with batteries. on: September 04, 2018, 01:11:56 PM
I'm sure there could be a mechanism that allows you to swap fully charged batteries for the empties as well so charging times wouldn't be an issue if you have spares.
The problem is that you cannot simply swap your batteries as fast as you can fill your gas tank to full. Also, anyone would not want to go through the hassle of opening up your hood(or anywhere your battery is stored) and the hassle of removing and reattaching some things when you are in a long distance travel because you could have had used that time to do other more important things or rest.
Free energy is free whereas gas costs a lot of money. Doesn't really matter if it takes a little longer to 'fill up' and seems a small price to pay for free energy.
Still, the time it would take for it to be fully charged is a long time and typically charging happens at the busiest time of the day(which is in the morning). You would not need to drive to work at night, do you? (unless you are in a night shift or travels for only a kilometer or two, the long charging time is fine).
60  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Total Number of full nodes operating. Less than 10k. on: September 04, 2018, 12:00:51 PM
That is still a big fall. What happened?
Most of those numbers you have seen from the blog you are referring to might have just tried to run a full node temporarily and lost interest. People probably lost interest in running a full node because of plummetting bitcoin price. Also, most people just simply cannot afford to run full bitcoin nodes because of the bandwidth limit on some countries(like in the Philippines for example).
