Explain.
When I set 2-factor authentication on their security options, after i logged out. I re-login, I back to security options, and I was able to remove the 2-factor option WITHOUT the use of itself.
To be clearer, if after I set 2-factor protection somebody steal my user and password and login from the homepage, he/she is also able to remove the 2-factor protection, add another btc address, and withdraw all the balance. So their 2-factor protection is a pure fake, just an illusion to be protected.

Hi all,

I am one of the robbed Kraken's customers, and I'm happy to have found this thread because in another one somebody told me "You have to prove otherwise ppl ignore you"

I use BTCs since 2013, and of course I store the most of them out of websites exchange because I think they are ALL absolutely unreliable and uncontrollable; lucky to have avoided MtGox, lucky to have avoided Bitfinex, so this time I have been caught! Smiley but I also have been lucky and able to limit damage under 0.6 BTC only, and it's the 1st time I have been robbed by an exchange.

Kraken is simply an akward 100% criminal band, and this because:

1. They sent me an email telling they detected a suspicious login on the account and for this reason as precaution all withdrawals were on hold. Unfortunately the account was already emptied since 5 hours!!
2. Their support told me I probably had been a victim of phishing: Unfortunately, since I open the account I had user and pwd stored in the browser so I never digited nor on a fake site nor on their original one
3. Their support accused me I didn't protect enough the account with 2-factor protection: true, but I investigate and tested their system and 2-factor activated option is easily removable without any password
4. They don't have an email confirmation system for withdrawals
5. They don't have a sms confirmation system for withdrawals
6. When I expose this facts, their support never reply

I am surprised to read ppl who are sure Kraken is honest and reliable, they are pure fucking vampires..just I don't have known if they are correlated in some way to Bitfinex robbery

Yes.....loads and loads of Kraken customers are all the victims of 'fishing attacks'. Of course. What else?

Really hard to say for sure what is going on here, but my best stab would be, that Kraken likely have rats within their own ranks, with back end server access, who are aware how shockingly bad and misleading Kraken's security is, and are taking advantage of it. This has been going on a long time, but recently, the frequency of account thefts has been picking up, and the level of complaints going on social media, has become noticeable to the point that Kraken's squeeky clean image (fuck knows how they have that, just shows the power of good PR), is finally coming under question.

I suggest you make a complaint to the SEC. Enough complaints pile up on their desks, and they may just eventually investigate.

1. Indeed I suggested them to check the robbery at their internal, but they don't want to listen reasons and they always sing the same song: phishing or somebody has stolen my pwd. It's also obvious they don't try to improve security, likely intentionally..should we guess why?
2. Make a complaint to the SEC? What is the SEC? could be useful? I know that when BTCs are stolen, are stolen forever.

43  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Multiple Kraken Accounts, Robbed/Emptied. Kraken say "Fuck you, its your loss" on: September 01, 2016, 04:30:52 AM
I just got my account emptied on Kraken then other day. As users of Kraken will know, with the default security settings, when you make a withdrawal, you get this Email:

Quote
Hi,

A withdrawal request has been made for the withdrawal address named b. If you requested this action, great, it was successful.

Thanks for choosing Kraken Bitcoin Exchange
The Kraken Team

Note: if you didn't request this action, your account may be compromised and you should do the following:

1) log into https://www.kraken.com immediately and go to Account > Funding > Withdraw - you may be able to cancel the withdraw if you catch it soon enough.
2) change your password;
3) create a new set of two-factor authentications;
4) create a support ticket letting our support staff know about the incident: https://support.kraken.com.

The IP recorded for this action was 5.185.87.61.

So basically, Kraken who are in the business of handling Joe Public's money, and therefore must also be in the online security business, have a default security procedure, of not asking Joe for Email verification to confirm withdrawal request, but simply telling him that a withdrawal attempt has been made, and that he has perhaps 45 seconds to cancel it before it is processed!?

Needless to say, I contacted Kraken support immediately about this, and here is the Email correspondence so far (basically, 'FU pal, you are bumped):

Hi,

I'm sorry for your loss.

Rather than email confirmations for withdrawals, we have a global settings lock feature that prevents attackers from adding new withdrawal addresses even after they have access to your account (and presumably also your email), and you can be alerted when an add is attempted. You didn't enable this security feature on your account.

I need to confirm your identity to get you access (at least to withdraw) with the account again. I'll look to write again in a few days about this. Let me know if there are any questions you have. I'm happy to answer them. Again, I'm sorry for what's happened.

So, you have Email verification security features, that I, Joe Public, didn't enable? I would suggest that it is Kraken, who due to dealing in online finance, who are in the online security business, not Joe Public.

Kraken is basically the only crypto exchange that doesn't at least operate Email verification as default for withdrawals, one of their customers gets robbed and you turn around and basically say 'Sorry pal, but it's your loss', you never enabled some security feature hidden down the bottom of some sub menu'?

I mean seriously, an Email message stating something along the lines off "You have just made a withdrawal....if it really was you, then great, it was successful, if it wasn't then you have perhaps a few dozen seconds to cancel it"? I am not sure which jurisdiction Kraken is based in, but regulated exchange or not, I am sure that Kraken has a Duty of Care to exercise more caution than this, since they are in the business of handling other people's money. It isn't like this is the first incident of this. And since this same thing has happened many times before with Kraken (I googled it), why aren't Kraken insisting on basic Email verification, just every other crypto exchange under the sun does, as a bare minimum?

And what about all the spraff you have on your website about getting me to provide as much information possible, in order that you can identify the theft? You haven't asked me for any of that. instead, you have asked me to prove my identification in order to withdraw the remaining few Euro's in my account? On your website, you state that perhaps the theives may have obtained my password from other 'compromised' crypto sites. Perhaps that compromised crypto site is Kraken itself? Somewhere on your servers, is a copy of my Kraken password. One theory I have, is that the theives are operating within Kraken itself. If hackers could compromise an exchange thus gaining access to customers details (including passwords), then 'trusted' members of staff could also access this same information, and using the security loop hole, which for some reason Kraken leaves open, whereby the onus is on the customer to activate Email verification, customer's funds can then be stolen?

None of my other accounts have been compromised. Only Kraken. That tells me that the first place to start looking for the rat, would be with Kraken itself.

As I stated in my response to Kraken, none of my other accounts have been compromised (ever). Only Kraken, which makes me think that the rat is to be found under the floorboards of Kraken itself.

GMK-
I think you should post some info proving your statements or people will dismiss you as someone who is angry and trying to make false claims.
If you have at least some kind of proof- chatlogs, screenshots, an explanation to why they are a "scam", people will be much more likely to listen to you.

1) I am not angry, just disappointed..I'm aware that any kind of money not in my pockets is unsafe and at risk, then I accept it can happen
2) I want to keep my privacy, so I don't want to show screenshots of my account, the stolen amount, etc.
3) I would just give an advice to future victims..If you and/or them don't trust me, it's your problem, not mine. You will be surely...krakened?! Smiley
4) I have no personal interest to accuse an exchange just to have visibility or replies on a forum.
5) Kraken has very bad security countermeasures: their 2-factor protection is removable WITHOUT any password, any withdrawal is available with no email confirmation, no SMS confirmation etc.
6) Read this part of email I've received by them: "We detected a suspicious login on your Kraken account this morning. As a precaution, all withdrawals from your account are presently being placed on hold. In order to restore withdrawal functionality to your account, you will need to contact support (support@kraken.com). Note: other functionality on your account, including trading, may still be active." VERY GOOD, THE ONLY PROBLEM IS I'VE RECEIVED THIS EMAIL AT 10PM WHILE MY BALANCE HAS BEEN COMPLETELY EMPTIED AT 5.30PM  Grin
7) They spam advices about phishing and they allude I have been a victim. Unfortunately for them, I never digited anymore username and password simply because when I opened the account I stored them in the memory of my browser.
Cool When I expose these FACTS to their support, they NEVER reply

Sorry in advance because I don't know where to post this warning.

I suggest everybody TO KEEP AWAY from the exchange platform called KRAKEN. They manipulate accounts using pwds and they steal cryptos from balance. Their security is fake, and their excuses, more.

Greetings

ok grazie ancora, adesso almeno mi è chiaro il funzionamento di base
47  Local / Mining (Italiano) / Re: Antminer S9 on: July 04, 2016, 12:46:56 PM

grazie ancora, ciao

48  Local / Mining (Italiano) / Re: Antminer S9 on: July 03, 2016, 01:01:08 PM
grazie delle risposte
altre domande:
saluti

TOPMINE scammed along with HashOcean! They're all starting making the preparations for halving reward!  Grin
well a ponzi could use the halving reward as an excuse to give the half of interest they normally give..their false image is to be a cloud mining
50  Local / Mining (Italiano) / Re: Antminer S9 on: June 30, 2016, 02:08:04 PM

Hold! I've been holdin since '13, and plan to hold for atleast another 10 years.
I agree. I think and I do like you. The only difference is you fix 10 years of limit while I don't, no limits. I just risk a small part to try to accumulate more, but the most are long-term to infinite untouchables. I only hope to never be forced in life to sell.
54  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is your plan to get rich with Bitcoin? on: June 16, 2016, 07:59:58 PM
actually i have no money at all. that is why i am just doing earning from a signature campaign. i think that is the most easiest way of earning bitcoin if a person dont have money or investment.

Yeah, signature campaign in this forum is the best way to earn bitcoin. It is way more better than faucets which consumes all of your time for the whole day. But you won't get rich just by relying on signature campaigns here, you should try some other ways to earn bitcoin like trading altcoin. Trading altcoin is a good way to earn more bitcoin than gambling it or investing at hyips or ponzis.

Signature campaign is good to earn bitcoin but it cannot make you rich in future, you should also find other ways to earn bitcoin, you can only get rich with it if you hold high number of coins.
why it cannot make you rich in the future? if you will participate a lot in the campaigns right now when the price is still pretty low i think you can become rich after the price growth

i dont have a plan of becoming rich with bitcoins though i sometimes participate in signature campaigns that allow me to earn money, i hope it will make me rich pretty soon
I have got some ideas from my friends that we have hold some high rank account with signature campaigns and posting in daily basis according to campaign rule. Also we can do some trading to earn in another way.

Its always good to have high rank account as the payouts are higher for those accounts but at a moment majority of campaigns are not entertaining new participants to join it.
maybe I have not well understood what a "signature campaign" exactly is, as I am foreigner..but looking at what appears, it seems to me that some enterprises "donate" small quantities of BTC basing on this forum's users age. If I am right, it seems ridicolous the concerning follow-on, as we are talking about weekly 0.04 BTC weekly destined to users so pioneeristic that maybe currently own 4000+ BTC.
If I'm wrong please correct me. If I'm right please correct who still has not understood that BTC price grows with sharing and not with greed.
55  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is your plan to get rich with Bitcoin? on: June 16, 2016, 05:04:24 PM
You can only get rich with bitcoins if you are a miners. but it requires large investment and risk in order to be profitable. considering the cost of electricity and the efficiency of miners
Not only miners anyone can become rich with bitcoins. My plan to get rich in btc or with btc is that I will work as hard as I can, at the same time the coins earned will be kept in a wallet for future price increase and sell them at that time, so I get more value of my hard work.
I course I want to get rich with the Bitcoin but the question is if it is possible and if it is also gong to happen. It is all going to depend on the price and on how many Bitcoins I have.

so far anybody have invested in bitcoin a while back is having a very good time because of the big amount of profit we are gaining from the rise. and mostly if you have invested back when everybody was asleep and ignoring this huge opportunity then you are over three times in profit which is still rising.

If you want to get rich with bitcoin then I think you need to hold it for a long time, and there is also no risk in it and you can also try your luck on trading to multiply your coins.
Yes absolutely right to be rich we could collect bitcoin and hold until a long time. We should also try the trade to double our advantage and we could have a lot of bitcoin.

This is the time to collect as many coins possible as price will be really higher in future and that time it won't be possible for us to buy bitcoin.
It will be always possible to buy BTCs for everybody, who already is owner and who's not, unless turning off the whole internet. Just decrease progressively the quantity affordable proportionally to the price increase. Sons of sons of sons I think could still buy/use 0.00000001 or superior, and if they doesn't there will be a sub-cripto equally useful and practical. It's just matter of culture.
56  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is your plan to get rich with Bitcoin? on: June 16, 2016, 11:41:39 AM
I'd say buying and holding BTC until it substitutes entirely any stupid fiat currency, but I risk to become too old because people is so stupid to deserve a stupid fiat currency

That is one of the way of getting rich, if you are going to buy and hold a lot of bitcoin and just wait for a price increase and sell it. Then for sure you are going to rich, but you need also big capital for it, I think now it is still not late to buy more bitcoin. Because it will going to increase.
Yes this time is not too late but if you buy now its not good to hold for a long time it should be sell it after the halving you do not earn big profit if you buy bitcoin now and hold it for a long time.
Getting rich is up to you, if you are a lazy man you always want is to wait i think you can not getting rich, you need to stretch your bones find a job or start a business do not depend your life in bitcoin.
another misunderstanding...no sales from here! I will keep BTC until death and spend them only when and what and if i need! Smiley
it doesn't matter if I'm lazy or not, it matters which is BTC market cap: at the moment, it is ridicolously small and consequently, very volatile and unreliable
But I can make you understand better with an example that could similar represent it: mobile phones
step 1 mobile phones=huge, expensive, no SMS, no internet, no markets, no merchants, just few customers
step 1 BTC=buggy, nerd matter only, experiment, few miners only, etc.
step 2 mobile phones=normal dimension, cheaper than step1, SMS, but most of people thought it's stupid, unuseful, privacy oppressive and a status symbol only of riches and pseudoglamorous ppl
step 2 BTC=major bug fixed forever, on markets/merchants, some ppl interested, development, possible miners boom
step 3 mobile phones=small dimension, much cheaper than step 1 and 2, SMS, internet, ppl realized that can be useful, easily affordable and as common and everybody has it, no more shameful to own and show it===> boom, mass run to buy mobiles
step 3 BTC=enthusiasm but still no mass, price to stars, much contrast, hate and disinformation from media, governments, economists, etc.
step 4 mobile phones=evolution to smartphone and relative run to purchase, ridicolous telephone costs
step 4 BTC=mt gox disaster, declaration of illegality from some governments, fear
step 5 mobile phones=almost everybody owns a smartphone with ridicolous and/or free fares, VOIP, apps etc.
step 5 BTC=maybe wake up after disaster, but still few ppl know it and use it, still no mass development
step 6 mobile phones=what happens after smartphone?
step 6 BTC=what happens to BTC price if most of worldwide ppl learn to use and put some savings in BTCs?

No, there's a small misunderstanding  Grin
The idea is to never sell BTCs accumulated because there will never be the need to do it; this because they could be already become the only worldwide common money. Just to spend it and enjoy it, with the relative power of purchase they should have reach in this scenario. There's no need to own many BTCs in this kind of scenario to be extremely rich: 0.0001 could be the price of a villa with swimming pool, instead of a commission of a transaction, if billions of ppl decide to swap from fiat to BTCs. But the most of ppl is stupid, ignorant and disinformed, then deserving the slavery of fiat currency.
