41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Dogeparty, Counterparty for the Dogecoin blockchain! (official) on: September 17, 2014, 03:25:26 PM
@wendell,

please fix wallet.dogeparty.io, it keeps syncing for 2+ days and doesn't show the right balance. It's not professional to keep it stuck like that for days.

this project has so much potential.  but i think their team could be biting off more than they can chew.  but i'm still hopeful.

Hopefully we can handle it. Is anyone else having the syncing problem? We've been discussing the balance issue on Skype with Dominik, but it seems to be a UI (only) issue that we inherited from Counterparty, and not everyone is experiencing it.

Please, if you have issues with the wallet, leave them (in as much detail as possible) here, rather than on this thread -- and if you have already done that, thanks:

point taken.  but there are well meaning people here that would like to help in their own way too.  a white paper about your project is not only necessary, but also very useful for a crypto-nerd like me who likes talking and educating people about crypto.

i am not demanding anything, but education is key.  that's all i'm saying.

All I can say is that we'll do our best. :-)
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Dogeparty, Counterparty for the Dogecoin blockchain! (official) on: September 15, 2014, 07:06:51 PM
wendell, please improve both communications and effort to educate the people, especially the dogecoin community. a whitepaper, faqs, write ups and videos would help a ton.

i noticed most in the dogecoin community don't really know anything about dogeparty.  time to change that.

With all due respect tokeweed, we'll do what we can, but I don't really think it is going to be part of our agenda to proselytize Dogecoin users for the time being. We are not doing this as a pump and have no expectation of gains from XDP. We have been pretty up front about the fact that Humint issued Dogeparty primarily because we needed it for a few projects which we are now steeped in developing.

That is to say, for the time being at least, we have our hands full. Porting all of the Counterparty tools to Dogecoin was, as predicted by everyone but me, not as trivial as it sounded. We simply don't have the resources to exert much more effort in this direction. If you guys want to see more activity around it, by all means make that happen. We will help you and promote your efforts in whatever way that you can.

Now, we are looking for more developers to help us with core stuff; if we can free up some cycles there it would give us more time to consider how we can make the big picture more accessible. If anyone here is interested, please take a look at our GitHub https://github.com/Dogeparty and get back to me.

By the way, if anyone has a "stuck" wallet for reasons that are our fault (i.e. you didn't lose the passphrase) and wants to look up their balances, they can use this:

When will we have a working exchange in Dogeparty? Is that going to be introduced when the burn is completed?

We are going to try to have it working shortly, but no guarantees. Lots of unexpected twists and turns in porting this to DOGE.

Is this the main thread though ?? awfully quiet here....

This is the official Dogeparty thread on bitcointalk, but if any of you need to reach us, the best way is through Skype via this link or on /r/XDP. If you have a technical issue with the wallet, please post it as an issue on the Dogeparty GitHub and we'll try to get to it as quickly as we can.

The plan is not seriously to block 80% of functionality for US users, is it Huh Do I need to go get excited about NXT now instead? I really like the idea for this platform, but it needs to work...

Where can I get a legit answer about this? Is the dividend function blocked in the US? I know the wallet is still being worked on, am I freaking out too soon?

See below.

This bit from the Counterparty wiki (when translated to doge) should suffice as an effective workaround if needed:

"To pay dividends in BTC, you should, for now, just use a regular Bitcoin client, coupled with the output from 'counterpartyd asset ASSET', which will list all of the shareholders (and their holdings) of ASSET."

So you could pay dividends in DOGE using the regular Dogecoin Core client, coupled with output of 'dogepartyd asset ASSET' to send to all asset holders in proportion.

But I really hope the dividend function is meant to operate for all users; it does on every other platform.

Any dev care to straighten this out?

OK, we inherited the code that is blocking you from doing this from Counterparty. We don't plan to keep it, it just hasn't been pulled out yet. So yes, the distributions feature will be available everywhere. You can track the issue here: https://github.com/Dogeparty/dogeparty-wallet/issues/3

@wendell, I pm'd you several weeks ago, but do not get any response. Can I get my private key by the 12 passphrase? I am asking this because of below issue.

Your 12 word passphrase effectively _is_ your key. To get the actual converted keypair is what the JS wallet does so of course you can convert it. Not sure what you would do with it though.

Regarding your issue, it's acknowledged in GitHub here: https://github.com/Dogeparty/dogeparty-wallet/issues/8 but we have not been able to reproduce anything like it yet unfortunately. Sad Hopefully the MultiAPI issue is fixed now though?

Yes, everyone please test your wallets again.

If anyone is having issues still, please report it here:

We've identified the wallet problem as a bigger problem that most likely also affects Counterparty, but it is highly unlikely that anyone has lost anything. You guys just really stress-tested it! Hang tight for news and a fix.

I've never been this excited about burning something since I burned an ant with a magnifying glass when I was 7

Poor ant. Sad But hey, for science?!

I already issued an asset named XDOGE but I want to send back 1 XDOGE to the sender for every 9 DOGE they send, and do it automatically.
I know PHP and I have a vps so if I knew how I could probably code a vendor and put it to work.

I will send this to Jeremy Lam

Where can I learn to set up a vending address for an asset?

Do you want to setup a vending machine, or just create a new asset?

When will the decentralised exchange be implemented?

Not yet, but this also very much depends on how much demand there is. A market w/o liquidity is pretty bad.. Wink
[8/13/14 12:58:50 PM] Pete Moss: true that, i respect the decision to leave it disabled right now for the burn initiation
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Dogeparty, Counterparty for the Dogecoin blockchain! (official) on: August 13, 2014, 04:53:57 PM
Trying to copy paste the address in the online wallet just drags it around, that is highly annoying. - Edit: Just clicking it auto selected it, I tried to highlight it.

Edit: Question: If I send exactly 1000 doge, and it's 998 after a network fee will that still work, or do I need to bump it to 1002 doge so 1000 arrives?

Sorry Langly, this is very new software.

Yes, you'll need to bump it to 1002.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Dogeparty, Counterparty for the Dogecoin blockchain! (official) on: August 13, 2014, 03:53:23 PM
Here's the burn address:

https://dogechain.info/address/DDogepartyxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxw1dfzr

Up to 122 Million Doge already.

Yes, but PLEASE PLEASE folks do not send DOGE here directly. Please use our wallet to burn!

in the wallet page it says testnet.

There is a LINK to the testnet wallet on the wallet page. If you enter from wallet.counterparty.io it is the real thing.

I'm sorry, you're quite right -- there was one other testnet reference in there. We'll take that out.

Apologies everyone, having dogeblockd troubles. Wallet will be online shortly here:

http://wallet.dogeparty.io

Counterparty requires that a kind of "Genesis transaction" happen manually before we start, so doing that now and getting the wallet online.
is it testnet or not???

It's not, it's the real deal!

Countdown at 00:00:00 but 23 more blocks to go before start... See here:

EDIT: Dogecoin network is a bit slower than usual today, so our calculations appear to be about ~20 minutes off.
