41  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why do many people fail in trade? on: January 30, 2024, 11:21:09 PM
What are your additions to understanding the learning time for someone who is learning to trade? I think sharing here will benefit those who may be close to giving up in this field.

In my opinion the biggest problem for people starting out to trade is their unrealistic return expectations. I am not really sure where it's coming from, but somehow there is a believe that you can make very high returns in trading in a short time. Which definitely true, but you need to take a lot of risk to achieve those returns and there is no guarantee to actually get your money. Step one for any beginner in the trading world should be to acquire all the necessary knowledge and slowly gain trading experience over time. There is no need to rush anything, there will always be new trading opportunities around and we can take it slow. FOMO might seem like a real issue, but it's not and we shouldn't fall into that trap. Starting small and not commuting all our capital at once should help a lot to reduce the initial losses in trading.
That is the mistake that beginner traders are doing, they won’t start trading at a small amount thinking that it could be a waste of time trading small amount and gain small profits as well. If they can be profitable with trading, then they should seize the chance while it’s still possible. That’s the reason why a lot of newbies these days are failing in trading because they are often lead by their greed and emotions, without realizing that trading will only work and become profitable if you have gained all the knowledge and skills that it needs, which I think newbies clearly are lack of knowledge and learning skills.
42  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is merit necessary for my survival here on: January 30, 2024, 08:59:04 PM
You don't need merit to secure your account. Without merit, you can learn, post and partake in bounty altcoin as an hunter. There are so many accounts for on the forum existing for so many years without a merit.
Most people are just ignoring what the forum is really about, and they are focusing on other things. Merit shouldn’t be the main reason to be here, and merit is not needed to secure an account. If you are desperate and looking for merit, then you might not really be able to stay long in the forum here before you might end up going against the forum rules. The forum is basically for learning, and if you are really ready to learn, you are also going to receive merit.

Do you still encourage people to participate in bounty campaigns? To me, bounty campaigns are not really profitable like before, most are just time wasting because the rewards aren’t really worth it, and some are even scam projects that will never pay you. So the best thing is to rank up your account and join the signature campaign if you want to earn, or if you have any skills, then display them on the service board.
I believe what push these newbies to be eager about merit system is their greed to earn profits, or they just don’t know the whole concept of this forum, that its all about knowledge and learning acquisition first and when you have acquired that, receiving merits will eventually follow. But we all know that merits are not the only basis for survival. If you consistently follow the rules without breaking them, you will surely be safe from kicking out from this forum. While merits are also considered vital, but it does not guarantee your survival in the forum.
43  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: January 30, 2024, 10:05:09 AM
No Ginebra in the finals but still there's the San Miguel Beermen that just swept them. And we're still waiting for the result of Magnolia and Phoenix Fuel Masters. I thought that it's gonna be a sweep too but let's see on the what ifs it is going to be Fuel Masters that will be making a history of doing a straigh 2 more wins. Otherwise, if they lose on Wednesday on the MOA arena against the Magnolia then that's it, it's going to be SMB and Magnolia at the grand finals.
I can't remember the last time these two met in the Finals, but I remember that Magnolia once became a champion. Although on paper it may seemed look like SMB is the heavy favorite, but things could be different in the FInals, just like how these Magnolia vs Phoenix has turned out to be. I hope there will be no sweep in the Finals, otherwise it will be a boring series. Magnolia is still capable though against a firepower Magnolia, if SMB have JMF, Magnolia also has Laput who is a 7 footer if I'm not mistaken.

I did a little research as I could not also remember, they won a championship last 2018.

Here ;
https://www.bworldonline.com/editors-picks/2018/12/19/205737/magnolia-is-pba-champion-once-again/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnolia_Hotshots

That was a long time ago, over 5 years, maybe they'll get the championship this time but we never know since SMB is also a strong team. Sure enough, they will be the underdog, compared to the last time they won a championship.

They have a chance this conference if they will finish the Phoenix in game 4. Magnolia is more on hussle plays but they don't have great outside shooters unlike SMB, so based on my analysis, they'll unlikely to win in the Finals. Although we can say that Magnolia also has bigs, but Fajardo is well experience and IMO still the best player in the PBA (local), and their import is blending well on their system as you can see he doesn't force his shots, everything went according to their plays that's why their offense looks very effective.
44  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 30, 2024, 06:56:21 AM
Utah Jazz got their 3rd defeat in their 6-game away series. Actually, Brooklyn is not a very strong team, but they performed very well in this match and beat Utah easily. (147-114)
Utah will play their next game against strong New York and they will most likely lose.
Most likely. Jazz are just actually good at home but their road record is bad. You can't trust them on the road, losing over 30+ points, this team ain't gonna make it to the playoffs, they are just hype but not really a good team. They seemed to have a deep experiment going on as you can never tell who would be the top scorers at the end of the game, even if their usual starters are playing.

It is difficult to know the results in advance, but New York is in great form right now and has a 7-game winning streak. They defeated Charlotte away with a score of 92-113 and from now on they will play 6 matches at home. The 7-game winning streak may extend to 13 games.
New York is very consistent now, it's hard to bet against them at this moment, just ride with them in every game until they lose.
45  Economy / Economics / Re: Save while young better than wait on: January 29, 2024, 11:43:00 PM
I can’t tell that it’s bad parenting. Maybe parents have some lapses in teaching and instilling in their children the value of saving but that does not mean that these parents are actually showing bad parenting. There are actually some parents who do the savings for their children, so that in the near future, when these children have reached their mature age, that’s the time they can get their savings and spend and manage it wisely based on how their parents have taught them on how to manage their finances.
46  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The lessons I've learnt as a bitcoin long term holder on: January 29, 2024, 06:11:33 PM
Who else is optimistic about the halving as I am, it would be bitcoin birthday soon, hope your all buying now
Me.  Wink
You can add to it that as a long term Bitcoin holder, you're always learning. That's how we're going to survive a long term holder because as we learn from the others, we discover new things and when we develop that, we're the ones to benefit from it. One mistake in the past that me and for sure many others did was when we're panic selling. With some bad news that's being reported on the media, that's already making us nervous. But eventually, if there's a newbie out there, you'll be able to control your emotion and don't believe with every news that you read from these crypto news media outlets. Many of them are like paid, shilled, sponsored just to put everyone who has a weak heart down and pushed to sell their holdings.
Learning should be inevitable that it should takes place continuously so you will be guided accordingly in your long term investment. While it's crucial to learn, it's also vital to stay patient and stay out from having high emotions. Once you become emotional, you get carried away with what is happening around most particularly with what is trending in social media. And from there, you will lost your focus from your investment which will lead you to become discouraged from your long term investment and end up quitting from it for good.
47  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: January 29, 2024, 06:11:16 AM
I’m not a big fan of today’s matchups. Too many games that could easily go either way. Not good for multi-bet opportunities. Might have to just stick with the OKC Thunder beating the Detroit Pistons but the odds make it so if you sat today out you’d probably be better off.

Edit: Not looking good for OKC… Hopefully people sat this one out.

Biggest parlay destroyer. The number 1 team in the West lost to the Pistons, who would expect that? NBA is reall unpredictable, that's why they call it amazing things happened because we were amaze with what happen. Another almost huge upset is the Raptors beating the Hawks, good thing they got lucky and beat the Raptors by one point only.

I'll just watch out on next game as OKC will surely bounce back. First game back at home against the Wolves. I know they are on a back to back game, but they are good at this kind of situation, so I'm gonna back them, it's sure another nail biting game.
48  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 29, 2024, 05:31:17 AM
Fuck NBA. Fuck OKC.1st leg curse. Another day, another upset. First the Spurs destroyed the no.1 seed in the West Timberwolves yesterday and now the Pistons win against the Thunder with a score of 120-104. How many times have the Pistons won this season without Cade Cunningham compared to they win this season? This makes me feel that Cade Cunningham is the problem for the Pistons. The team is great without him. Yesterday he played against Wizards and they lose.
This tells that nothing is guaranteed in gambling, anything can happen, even the worst team could beat the best team, nothing new here mate. Just calm down, you'll get it right next time, we have games tomorrow, bounce back strong and be happy.  Grin
49  Economy / Speculation / Re: Best time to buy BTC NOW? on: January 27, 2024, 08:21:21 PM
Currently, bitcoin is already priced at $41k so it has recover slightly from the said price drop. But I still suggest to never doubt buying bitcoin if you are really determined to buy. No one can tell when it will drop its price significantly so as long as you can afford to buy, then buy now. And be ready to DCA in the next days and months before bitcoin halving takes place.

I guess bitcoin has huge potentials enough to make it irresistible to buy. So asking if this would be the best time to buy or not is actually showing no confidence to bitcoin.

50  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: January 27, 2024, 12:29:58 PM
Yeah, +7 with the way Clippers is playing that's something to watch out, though Celtics still going to be the favorite but for gamblers who loves taking risk, this one might be a game to watch and bet on.

Something to watch on how the Celtics will beat this team. Sorry. I just felt like it's a big trap, although Zubac is out but they were still winning without him, and for one of the hottest teams in the NBA now getting +7 on the road, that sounds odd. I'm leaning with the Celtics here.
51  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casinos not asking for KYC to register and play, but do require it to withdraw on: January 27, 2024, 11:36:40 AM

I don`t think that it is a problem to KYC. Nowadays everybody can find your private data - every day we hear how our data was hacked, every week i get at least one call from the cheaters, etc. Of course it doesn`t mean, that we can show our id to everybody without research. The problem is that KYC is used as official cheat from casino.
Such decision as we are talking about - KYC before the first deposit, will defend gamblers, but casino don`t want to use it.

That is true, and it's the risk of submitting a KYC documents to verify your account. However, it's not new as even banks and other financial institutions requires you to follow the KYC protocol. Hacking is possible, but it's less likely to happen if the site you are trusting has a strong security, so to ensure that they have, check  on their reputation and their popularity, if they have both what are you looking for, then trust them, but never think it's guaranteed that your account and documents are safe, or hack-free.

Ultimately, everything must comply with regulations. The final decision is our own choice. If you want to play anonymously, you can look for a casino that doesn't ask for KYC. if we don't have problems with KYC, we can use many casino choices.
I know there are a lot of casinos that doesn't ask for KYC. However, it's a matter of question if we can trust them or not?
IMO, I don't trust them, unless they are decentralized, but if they aren't they are still required to follow the law as operating illegally may put them at risk and our money as well, so it's a no go.

Some gamblers don't think about KYC, especially those who like certain sites regarding the services or games there.
KYC issues are requested when we get a big win and want to make a withdrawal. however, the casino carries out the procedure. it isn't very pleasant, but that's the procedure they apply. Just follow it, if there are no problems, your withdrawal will be processed.
It's not a big issue if we sign up and agree with it. We need to read and understand what we sign up for. Simple as that.
52  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Pacquiao vs. Buakaw - April 20 on: January 26, 2024, 11:38:41 AM
Would be fun to watch both legends but was more excited on Pacquiao coming to the ring again considering I'm not that familiar with Buakaw though it ring a bell. I think the favor would be on Manny considering it is his niche that they'll fight for but there's not much of disparity though on both sports. Will support Pacquiao all the way.

Yeah right, knowing pacquiao as one of the defending champion in the world of boxing, It's nice to know that he's going to fight again since He mentioned then that he will retire from boxing and he will focus on the senate in the Philippine government. I can see that many gamblers will come out and bet huge amounts, I know most of them will definitely vote for pacquiao.

This fight isn't really the most interesting fight of Manny this year, but his fight with Mayweather which he previously announce. Although there's no confirmation yet from Mayweather, but Manny would not made up stories just to hype the fans or call the attention of Mayweather, most likely there's already a on going discussion on the possible big fight, a rematch but on a exhibition fight.

Buakaw is great though but boxing is Manny's territory, so I don't see any chance that Buakaw would beat him, and we can't compare this to Francis vs Tyson Fury as it's completely a different story.

57  Economy / Gambling / Re: Why they need a license if bitcon is not money? on: January 20, 2024, 12:21:22 PM
"Crypto casinos" are not yet regulated anywhere, the one being regulated is running the "casino" itself, whether it is a accepting cryptocurrency or not. That's why there are options to pay via fiat in other ways. And who else doesn't wants to run a "licensed" casinos when getting them is very cheap.

Casino is no different from exchanges. If exchanges are regulated, therefore Casinos needs to be regulated too.

Exchanges deals with crypto, casino deals with crypto, there's no difference. So it doesn't make sense to question why Casinos need a license.

58  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casinos not asking for KYC to register and play, but do require it to withdraw on: January 20, 2024, 11:39:53 AM
The first thing I do always is to make sure I read the terms and conditions of any casino before I think of proceeding to create an account with them, this has helped me alot to avoid falling into unnecessary pressure from the casino when they demand for such casinos.

While I can say you did a great job being a gambler, this is a different scenario of most of the gamblers. Let's admit it, most of us does not read the TOS of a gambling site before we use their service, as we are thinking that their TOS could be the same with other sites we played before, or that it's not too important.

So, with that kind of approach, we should put in mind that we have no right to complain if the site's action does not favor us like we are losing money but their action has a basis which is their TOS.

60  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Philippine traders need help! We want an exchange with p2p feature like Binance. on: January 03, 2024, 02:52:00 PM
What is Binance's positions regarding this? Have they issued a notice to Philippines users that they will stop them from using the platform? If not, then there is no need to worry. The trading will continue only that you will need to bypass the block by using VPNs.
There was not message coming from Binance regarding their position on this. About using VPN to bypass the block, it has also been discuss in our local community here but it was discourage as it might result to compromise of account, you know, from Philippine IP then suddenly you change to other countries IP.

As far as I recall, Nigeria Government banned crypto and tried so hard to make sure its citizens don't engage in crypto trading but instead Binance encouraged them to carry out p2p trading  Grin
But are they using VPN to bypass the block? If they are using and nothing bad happened to their account, then I see this as a good signal to try and consider it as one of the best solution.

There are also alternatives like localcoinswap, Agoradesk, HodlHodl. Centralized exchange like Bybit, Huobi, Okx, Kucoin offer a service similar to that of Binance. Just check them out.

Wow. I didn't know there are lots of services that have p2p features asa well. Although I'm familiar with some but I haven't been using them for a while since all my transactions now are on Binance. Thanks for this, I'll gonna check it.

Here's comment[1] from a someone's friend who work with Binance
