I broke the news of these coins to a few of my friends, and I can guarantee that they will buy at least 10 coins. So there is definitely interest in this. I am really looking forward to having one or two of these. They look soooooo good! I'm curious how many friends you have that are interested.  Well, I've only told 3 people so far. I have another 4 or 5 friends who I suspect might be interested  The more people post to this thread the more I am seeing how there is a need to put a order cap in. I agree. I also think the cap should be kept low, maybe at 5 coins. I'd be royally pissed if some jerk swooped in and bought all the coins before I have a chance to! |

This comes out to be 25 LTC x 2.701 = 67.525 USD for 9.475 USD worth of silver. So thats 7.12 times over spot price of silver.

Check your math again. There is 10 LTC included in the coin plus 1 LTC send to development team for Litecoin. You don't have to buy it. Ok, I stand corrected, you get 10 LTC back, but that still makes 15 LTC per coin lets do math again.. 15 LTC x 2.701 = 40.515 USD That is still 40.515 USD for 9.475 USD in silver, way over spot price I guess you have to be a bit of a nerd to appreciate the beauty and value of these coins. I'd pay more than 25 for these if I had to. |

You're missing the point... First of all, the coin is worth it's weight in silver, as well as the 10 Litecoins in the address on the back. So you're actually just paying 15 LTC for the silver. Secondly, it's not the silver you're paying for really, it's the collectors value. These are worth every cent in my opinion, especially the first batch. |

Also, having two or more "strong" alt-coins provides competition. With three strong dev-teams there's bound to be a lot more cool innovative ideas than just one "super-strong" dev-team spinning away on a single track.
I agree in theory however that wasn't his point however with the exception of NMC and PPC there hasn't been any real innovation. His point was about mining being profitable. That implies by simply adding a continual supply of new coins/chains you could ensure all mining is always profitable. Like I said just make a million of then and end global poverty. I see. You're absolutely right. My main reason for prefer litecoin (or a faster coin) over bitcoin is simply the confirmation time. When I have to wait over an hour after a transaction is initiated in order to use that amount, it's simply impractical and completely unnecessary. litecoin takes much less time. (though something like worldcoin would be more ideal). Why wait an hour then? You are accepting less security just starting accepting Bitcoin with 2 confirmations. Tada 66% faster. can you prove it is less security than? Less than what? |

do i have to say this in every fucking thread? without litecoin and other altcoins, bitcoin mining would cease to be profitable. alt coins are necessary evils because they spread the hashing power out accross multiple networks, allowing everyone to profit in some way shape or form. without litecoin and altcoins. you could multiply the difficlut by 5 and decrease your profit by 50 percent. those are just guestimates of course.
So we should make 1,000,000 altcoins and end poverty. You don't really believe what you wrote do you? I think you're putting to much weight on what he's saying and therefore missing the point. A few alt-coins is a good thing, considering it spreads everything out more evenly. Creating a million shitcoins as is the case today, you will only have a million weak, useless pieces of crap that does no good to no one. Very few coins, are written from scratch. I took something existing, and made it better. Not uncommon for to use already existing source code, to make something else. That's why source code exists, and that's the deffenition of open source. I'm sorry you don't like my coin. Define " better ". What you've done is changed some numbers. You probably don't even truly know what they do, just that they do something and that something will generate free money for you if people are dumb enough to mine your shitcoin. Also, you're right that not many coins are written from scratch. I'd say < 0.5%. However, the coins that actually made it anywhere isn't pure copy&paste. They are actually contributing with something new, your coin is not. Just stop this madness... Don't be an asshole. I actually looked at the code. Yes he started with the foocoin source code. sure he probably followed the guide for the most part. But he did go deeper, and change some more complicated features, such as diff adjust and the reward ramping. Is it copy paste for the most part, yep. Did takes as much work as starting from scratch? nope. Did he still spend probably at least 2 weeks of his spare time, researching, compiling and testing? probably. At least it has a working windows client, and he only premined a very small fraction. I'm not defending this shitty coin, but the guy generally seemed like he made this coin as a learning experience. This could just be a test coin. maybe something better is in the works. My point is still valid. Changing the difficulty isn't really contributing with something new. I'm all for creating alt-coins for learning purposes. I have done so myself, for learning purposes. With emphasis on learning purposes. Pushing a half-assed coin to the public is done for no other reason than trying to make money off of people wanting to be " early adopters " on the " next big thing ". It won't happen. It will only end in a few early adopters, and the creator, dumping their massive premine ( even though it's not premine, it's pretty much a premine if you're the first one to start mining it ) for a great profit, and a few morons losing actually valuable coins in the process. It's a well known process to most on here by now, seeing as it's happening every day. I will continue being an asshole if it prevents people from posting shitcoins on here, for the betterment of the entire community. |
