41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling on: August 06, 2017, 01:52:13 PM
The sheer fact that a mining op can choose to mine empty blocks on BTC and BCH AND caused this fork mostly because that will disappear in future BTC core is APPALLING... THIS WILL NEVER BE BTC NOR TAKE OVER FOR IT AS LONG AS MINERS CAN DO SHADY SHIT LIKE REFUSE TO PROCESS TRANSACTIONS AND STACK UP EMPTY BLOCKS TO SUBMIT IN STRINGS!!!

You only feed into allowing this by legitimizing this bastard coin.
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HoboNickels - HBN - High Fast Stake - Version 1.5. Come on in the water's fine! on: August 06, 2017, 01:29:41 PM
I think I got the kinks all worked out of 1.5.5. I am finalizing some testing and should have it released today or tomorrow.  On my big wallet with a TON of weight I get about 40-50% orphan rate. On some smaller wallets I get much lower. But the wallet no longer gets caught up in the millions of unresponsive orphans.  And when no new blocks are in, the wallet drops to 1-2% CPU.

This is great news Tranz thank you for your hard work. I will test once you put it up.

I had a question about syncing and P2P connections... is there something in the base QT that limits connection speeds? It seems like all these old coins sync really slow no matter what... but all of these newer Java based swing wallets sync the chain like a damn torrent! Or is it just bandwidth from the peers? Or is this just a result of the bulk from 20 second block target?

Examples:

HBN (QT) gets 14 or so connections and still takes 3 to 5 hours or more to sync 2 days of blocks.
ZEN (JAVA) gets 7 to 10 connections and syncs a couple days worth of blocks in about 3-5 minutes tops.
HUSH (JAVA) gets 5 to 8 connections and syncs a couple days worth of blocks in about 3-5 minutes tops.

Just curious if you had encountered anything pointing to QT limitations on this.

That is cruel and unfair to people following the rules. Anyways, as far as crypto world is concerned, the expectation of anything fair is itself unfair Wink

What rules are you referring to? No one is breaking any rule or law or anything really. This thread is a bad assumption about things 99.9% of the users here know zilch about.

Bottom line, there owuld be huge headlines if someone had a Ethereum asic... best case scenario there are FPGAs out there but ETH and its like will be GPU coins until the day Homestead is implemented to deprecate it.

keep selling guys, im buying  Smiley

I want to sell at .2, you want?

BCC will be the craziest rollercoaster in crypto for some time I guess Wink

Not really... it is just going to fall in line with the other SHA coins and be mined when profitable since it has a difficulty adjustment in addition to the usual from Bitcoin.

It is going to be funny watching people cry over and over because the new diff retarget still leaves them stranded after pools jump to other profitable coins.

Laughable really.

Nothing intriguing about it. Millions of people with millions of free coins arriving will point straight down.

Truer words have yet to be spoken here on BTCTalk.

We've got our first block on https://bcc.suprnova.cc :

OMG this is great! Only you lol...

In other news... Bittrex deposits are flooding in... now over 36K Bitcoin Cash listed for sale and 5400 BTC of buys posted.

Time to scoop a little cheap coin just in case...
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ZEN] ZenCash: Private, Secure, Resilient CryptoCurrency with zk-SNARKs on: August 04, 2017, 01:31:15 PM
updating to the latest wallets. Huh

At the start of zen, I mined 120 coins approximately. Backed up my wallet files. I can't remember if you could access the private keys in eleos? Then after updating the wallet approximately version 0.0.5/6 windows 10 64. I could not import my coins successfully. I have been afk for a few months since then.

On a different computer running eleos 0.0.7 mined another 40 coins over the past month. The wallet files are again backed up. Earlier this week I deleted the app data and installed 0.0.9 and imported the wallet. 100% connection still no coins? import successful.. I tried importing to swing as well but no luck.

Clearly I'm missing something. Wink

I asked on the official forum but received no response for well over 30 days. Any advice would be wonderful.

I had the same issue you are experiencing. Eleos is a very bad wallet with too many issues. This was how i fixed it. Restore all the appdata folder back to what it was with the wallet. Then go in the Zen folder and delete blocks folder, chainstate folder, and database folder. Leave everything else the same from when you were on Eleos 0.0.7. Now load up the newest version of swing and you it will load up your previous wallet and you will have all the coins again after it fully syncs.

Thank you so much! I recovered the second wallet. The older wallet I only have the wallet.dat and importing it always results in it converting into a .BAK file. I can't restore the appdata.

Anymore tricks to help me  Grin Grin

If it wasnt encrypted, i believe you can use pytools to open the wallet.dat file and inside you will find your addresses and related keys + lines of transactions related to your addresses.

I have had success recovering keys from unexcrypted wallet.dat files using pytools but this was 4-5 years ago when it was new and BTC only... only use  on a copy of your backed up file never the backup itself.

CRASH!!!!!!!!!

Watched it happen.... have fun cuz we are about to test the floor folks!
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ZEN] ZenCash: Private, Secure, Resilient CryptoCurrency with zk-SNARKs on: August 03, 2017, 01:36:08 PM
Excellent updates from the team. Wish I could have been on the Discord this week. Next time.

Even though all coins were affected by the BTC/BCH split, ZEN seems to have held its own, recovered well so far and has the right kind of backing to continue its stability. When nodes arrive, I will be ready!
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling on: August 03, 2017, 01:08:12 PM
It takes ...
...>  283 056 Thash/s   für BCC total

Wow - last 3 blocks came in 10min / at same Difficulty !!

so no  / 6  is needed  and we have about

> 1 698 336  Thash/s   for BCC in total !!  or only 4 time less hashpower than big  BTC   Shocked

So 20% of net hashrate for combined BTC/BCH SHA256d... regardless of outcome 20% is nothing to scoff at and that voice says something.

Thanks for taking the time to throw that info here! Also your sig second line is perfect!

SCARY TRUTH INCOMING!

Total coins for sale on Bittrex HASN'T CHANGE MUCH AT ALL!!!!!

It was just under 9K listed BCC post fork... it is now only 9200ish listed. No deposits or withdrawals. Enjoy your bubble because the moment deposits open you will all be dumped on.

If hashrate does not return, because no one can exchange their minted BCC, miners will turn elsewhere. Without a significant portion of the total ASIC hashrate, there is no reason for this coin to keep its inflated value.

Now at 20K Bitcoin Cash listed on Bittrex with 3600 BTC of buys in queue.

Blocks are moving now we will get a show!

The show at Bittrex gets better and better... 3400 BTC of buys with over 24000 Bitcoin Cash listed for sale.

There is NOT ENOUGH here to keep it from being dumped into the dirt when deposits open.

On the plus side, playing the alts during this made a ton of gains for a lot of us here I hope!

Maybe this BCH thing was the biggest scam in the History of Crypto.
You may be onto something. There is no reason for this to exist, none whatsoever. It most certainly is not "satoshi's vision". Just a premined altcoin.

Quoting for posterity and historical purposes. This shit is excellent!

https://pool.viabtc.com/

Now we are sure that ViaBTC is misreporting the information.

According to them, still, after the block mine, half of the entire Bitcoin world is mining BCC.

 Shocked  Embarrassed  Sad

There seems to be one reason for that: There is a sub-community who considers ViaBTC authorative, who is relying on ViaBTC for information.

I am so sorry for that community.

I'm even sorrier that we have to be the recipients of all this anti-effort at the behest of untruth.

I just about cannot stand it. Just about...  Angry

This is what is called "evil".

Hmm I'm not sure and I didn't do much diligence myself but from what I've heard and read that BCC thing is the "last try" of the Antminer producers to save their advantage in SHA256 mining by using the "Asicboost technology". Asicboost isn't compatible with segwit and they'd lose their advantage and would need to miner like every other sha256 asic if the network switches to segwit blocks.

However - the way that bitcoin abc (BCC) handles it - IS Asicboost compatible..

Now if I'd had a farm (in china) with several Petahashes and thousands of miners / racks - I'd at least understand why I'd try to save my 25% speedup against other miners.. My company is 25% more profitable as long as I can mine "empty" blocks where only 1 TX is incuded - the TX which pays the block to the miner (myself)..

AFAIK (not sure) ViaBTC / Roger Ver is somehow connected to Antminer etc...

Hey, How'd you answer before I posted?  Wink

Like any of that is secret. Thanks for the insight OC!

No minimum stake time, or no minimum stake amount?

in any event, new wallet still not staking after nearly 24 hours  Sad

This not a POS coin... later in life there will be nodes that pay for being secured and online but you wont earn interest just on a balance here.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling on: August 01, 2017, 01:33:22 PM
And it begins...

GL to you all and hopefully the fork goes as planned unlike every other coin to date... but maybe one day...

Please listen to those who have been here a long time, they have repeatedly warned everyone to be careful with your privkeys. Even Satoshi knew from the start... NEVER DELETE A WALLET!!!! Essentially that means never abuse or expose your privkeys.

Lets see what happens today!
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling on: July 31, 2017, 02:03:44 PM
This will be interesting.

Be cautioned... I wouldn't keep BTC in any address that matches a privkey you import to this fork. You should send your BTC to a fresh address IMMEDIATELY after the split is proven... and never use that new privkey in the new coin.

Not saying for a fact there will be trouble... but due diligence demands protecting and separating these two.

Curious to see how the next two weeks goes... how much hashrate will BTC lose?

*popcorn time*
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 26 GH/s on single rig Ethereum Mining on: July 31, 2017, 01:45:56 PM
If you check the home page, the list of top miners, there are many such miners with exactly the same hash powers.

Moreover a couple of them were found with multiple 26 GH/s workers. This makes me believe about the possibility of multiple ASIC miners.

Doubtful there are ASICS. Likely there are FPGA arrays crunching away, but ASICs wouldn't be able to have this much silence if they existed yet.

There are a few server builders out there and last I checked Bitworks has a ~130 MH/s ETH rig in a 4U server chassis. 20 of those to a single address and bam you got 26 GH/s. Wouldn't doubt it might be Bitworks themselves using that pool for burn in too...

Who knows... but ASICs aren't a concern yet, and they can be dealt with in these coins.
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HoboNickels - HBN - High Fast Stake - Version 1.5. Come on in the water's fine! on: July 31, 2017, 01:21:43 PM
Tried the 1.5.5 version,

Syncing seemed even slower than the 1.5.3 version.

Went back to the 1.5.3 version for now.

Instead of making everyone continue to suffer with slow performance.

Why not go ahead and Kill PoW Mining and move to a 90 Second BlockSpeed in a hard fork.
And schedule the hard fork within 30 to 45 days, because to be honest I doubt anything is going to make a difference til you complete those two changes.

Thanks for your efforts.

╥Aztek

PoW Mining is already slated to be dead by block 6 million.  Can't change it now. 90 seconds change will likely come but not ready yet.

Also I never said this was for faster sync? This was for better staking performance.  Did you let it sync and stake? What was the CPU usage like for you? How was the gui performance? Etc..

I have had the same issue Tranz. New wallet opens... but I never get any new blocks added to my existing chain, I let it go for 3 hours thinking it might catch the right node and start but nothing.

May I suggest you take the instructions you gave for getting debug and all other info you have asked for from others with issues and put it in the OP? I would definitely like to assist if at all possible so that 1.6 rolls without issue.

In the meantime I am back to 1.5.3.
