![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Frossoleary.co.uk%2Fimages%2FQuarkLogo.png&t=663&c=hO3K2CCuq-2wJA) Here's my go. +1 Is there an ASCII symbol for this logo?

This may sound like a silly question, but how easy is to create a new type-able symbol like BTC? Does anyone here know how to do that? EDIT: How silly of me, should have google-it first. I just found this: http://bit.ly/o3YXq

My vote is with the original - there were some nice black and white ones -
I believe we should vote after the deadline... some of us haven't posted yet. Please confirm deadline. thnx ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) +1 A confirmation to the deadline is most welcome. If possible, append to the thread title.

You know, it looks WAY TO MUCH like the Ripple logo, and that sucks. ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) I think there's a better way, something more like Bitcoin and Litecoin. Something as simple as that, would make people look at Quarkcoin, and compare it with Bitcoin, not Ripple. Subconsciously, investors would choose something they already believe it's good. I'm working on a solution, but not sure if I'll have the time to finish before the deadline. An extension to the deadline is most welcome.

If Quark is to be a currency like the Dollar Pound Yen etc then making an overly complicated logo is counterproductive.
You want a logo that can be used as a symbol in a font. Current logo already meets that. The current logo in black can be shrunk right down to be used like $ or BTC followed by numeric digits.
For an example of what I am talking about check out page ~73 on the Bottlecaps thread where a user modified an amazon.com page to have items for sale in Bitcoin, US$ and Bottlecaps (and a proposed Cappachino name change).
The issue with the current logo is that will not reduce appropriately, and any other fancy alternative will have the same problem. Keep it simple guys, think Bitcoin, think Litecoin. See what is already working, then explore concepts on how to bring that to Quarkcoin. That is the recipe for success. I must say that achieving that sort of simplicity is not easy, I know, I do that for a living, but is essential to get Quarkcoins mainstream. It's all about making the QRK brand easy to digest, and obviously, using good design to add value to the project. If the project doesn't receive any submission of a high standard, we should consider extending the date a bit further, and even raising the bounty to attract more professional entries. Don't underestimate the power of design. I'll put some time into this myself, but I would also love to see other people's submissions too.

I think I'm out. These types of competitions are generally frowned upon by the design community and with the moving goal posts and deadlines I don't think I can invest any more of my time into this I'm afraid. If you don't get a suitable entry I would be happy to work for Quark on all or any of the elements outlined, perhaps just reworking the current logo. Feel free to get in contact via my portfolio http://ohcg.co.uk/Best of luck. stay in with us do you do any Web work ? as well - FLip does - too - Down to collaborate ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) . We should have a community poll on what the coin will be called. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Should the project change name? NO, NO WAY, don't do that, that would be a HUGE mistake. Quark is a BRILLIANT name for a crypto currency, and here is WHY: 1. It is immediately recognisable by geeks. Both, physicists and treekies! (That is a way to differentiate in the midst of so many randomly named coins) 2. In the physicist world, a quark is a elementary particle. Metaphorically, we could say there's no crypto currencies without QRKs. Quarks are essential to have. 3. Also, quarks are the only elementary particle in the Standard Model to experience all four fundamental interactions. Metaphorically: +, -, *, and /. 4. It has a meaning directly related to currency. It's the name of a character that has ACCUMULATION OF PROFIT as a life purpose. That in my own opinion is the most amazing reason to stick with it. It's a subconscious reminder, for investors, that this is a good coin for profits. I love this one. 3. Finally. What about the hassle and disturbance and surely depreciation that will follow with a name change? Why do that with such an AWESOME name? Just in case you want to know my credentials. I'm a logo designer and branding is my field of expertise, and the above is my professional opinion. Really, you have a winner name here. All it needs to grow is to keep up the good work and a growing community rallying behind it. Please, feel free to ask anything, I will be more than glad to answer. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Invalid address, per definition, are invalid, so the transaction would not complete. Now, if you mistakenly send them to a valid address, then yes, they are lost and you'll make someone very happy indeed.

I'm working on raising capital to build the site, and for that reason I haven't specified how many Bitcoins I'll give away yet, but surely something that makes sense! Consider this: once the website is up and running I'll have to spend some money with marketing anyway, so I figure it would be better to spend by giving some Bitcoins than anything else really. But since Coinners is still in a very early age I thought it would be nice to give the people of the forum the heads up and let them be the first to know when the give away actually happens. Oh, and no, Coinners will not be a website to buy and sell coins, rather a marketplace for the exchange of products and services for virtual coins.

Wow! Amazing tool, the best data any trader could get about Bitcoins! Many many thanks for that. MtGox is planning to trade LTC and NMC soon, should we expect you'll expand to those crypto-currencies as well, because that would be fantastic. Once again, thanks for taking the time to put this together!

The lag over MtGox is nearing the point of becoming the first exchange that puts people off trading on it, something needs to be done about that asap.

Hi guys, I'm looking to connect with developers to start a crypto-currency related project. I'm a marketing professional specialized in branding. I come from an IT background so I have a good understanding of many technologies. I own and maintain a few websites and blogs where I make use of my coding skills, so expect me to be as much geeky as you are, but with the added benefit of understanding how marketing works. You can find a lot of info about me over the web, as I'm quite active on a wide range of websites, forums and social media. If you are curious, this is a good place to start. I've set up a holding page for the project I'm looking to build here, and while it suggests some sort of virtual currency marketplace I'm open to other ideas. If you are interested in exploring an interesting opportunity, and you are a competent and serious developer, please send me a PM. I would like to hear from you.

If you are coming here to learn more about Bitcoin and other crypto-currencies, and especially if you are considering to invest in one, you should consider DevCoin most of all, as is already being traded over Vircurex and compared to other alternative currencies is at its bottom price. This graph below shows how smart money is moving into DevCoins right now... ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FCxGyEXN.png&t=663&c=OpAjZWFua6Ukfg) That's what you would have paid for a BTC back in the beginning of 2009, so you should consider getting yourself some DVC for sure. They are just way to cheap not too get on board. If you want to do that, visit Vircurex exchange here with my affiliate link, or here without it. I appreciate if you use the affiliate link, so thanks for that! ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Great idea Adam! I'm thinking of starting a Bitcoin-related project myself, so it's always exciting to hear of new projects, and I hope you really get this going, as I will surely be listening to it, wish you all the best.
