52 week challenge is more focus on saving rather than gaining something in return. Personally I would pick Fiat Currency if saving money is the case because I would not worry at all about volatility also if I would be doing the 52 week challenge with Bitcoin and when the prices is getting high I would be forced to convert my Fiat into Bitcoin just to cope up with the challenge making it not efficient as I would be buying Bitcoin that time at current market price whether it is down or not. Well to summarize my answer to your question the quick answer to your question about "saving" then obviously Fiat currency is the best compared to Bitcoin.

i am not yet in the millionaire club because i don't have 21 bitcoin in my wallet but i have a dream that i can make more bitcoin by doing trading and other ways. for people that don't have money and only have small part of bitcoin, they can feel its hard and difficult to earn more bitcoin but i am sure that they can do it like others people.

i would prefer investing for a long term run. and i think this is a lot more secure compared to trading. because in trading you must be full of skills and have a habit of reading so that you can ride if there is pump and dump. wrong timing might let you lost you capital.

If people sell now it's not for panic, a panic selling happens most of the time when the bitcoin price starts falling down and people are afraid that the bitcoin price is getting crashed and want to "recover" or avoid a huge loss. Bitcoin has it own pump and dump but whenever the price gets higher we expect that there could be a good way to hold for a longer time as we hope that bitcoin price will increase more, and if this doesn't happen we see a way to spend the bitcoin because we are facing with a loss soon, so people at this time spend them on altcoins or even in fiat.
i think now people have become mature and they are not going for panic selling, we have some good examples in previous days as the price of bitcoin get a good support after falling up to some points. I think that we are in a time that the panic selling is already happening and we can conclude this from the bitcoin price, who wouldn't make any panic when the price for only 1 week has been dropped to $313 (until now at the moment of writing) so if people are holding 10 BTC there is 3k lost, for 100 BTC there is 30k lost and so on, this is really for panic, but I won't sell mines because I hope later this Q2 the price will get higher. yeah another panic selling days happening righ now , for a small example one of my colleagues here have sold the whole bitcoin he have few minutes ago , he decide to take a break after got good profit on altcoin like eth and dash , but a little bit dropped when talking about bitcoin . Hopefully the price isn't going down too much but still it is for making panic, the profit on ETH and other altcoins has come after the bitcoin price crash which is the perfect situation for traders, even though the value of bitcoin earned is not as before but still it is good if these people hold these bitcoin for a longer time and not sell not because I don't see as a good/perfect time to sell bitcoins right now as I hope that the price will be better in upcoming weeks/months. Yeah I do have the same thought like you. And because of that, I am holding more than 10 Bitcoin and wait until its prices to hit $2000. There is a high possibility that the prices will hit $2000 before June and therefore, I can earn a good amount of FIAT from investing Bitcoin.
