41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: April 08, 2017, 03:12:08 PM
I am very excited for upcoming distribution as it is coming nearer. It will be great to get some share of them this time I am fully ready to become part of Byteball community. Bitcoin are already laying in my wallet to use them for something really good and attractive.

There's only three days left to go until the next distribution. Bitcoin's going up so you can't lose by keeping your bitcoins in your wallet and using them to claim your free byteballs.
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: RISE | 1 Million RISE Give-Away | Delegate Contest on: April 08, 2017, 01:13:39 PM
Rise mainnet is being updated/migrated to the latest code to provide a stable platform.

Is the latest code the promised brand new code, or the same old code with bug fixes?
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does someone at DOGE central know something we don't - Wolong? on: March 03, 2017, 11:22:50 AM
It's only because interest in dogecoin has been dying for a long time. This is because the coin technically is just a clone, and they have no plans to introduce anything new. Unlimited supply means constant inflation, not to mention that a joke/meme will always become uninteresting after a year or so. Since that important figure in doge (forgot his name) quit, it had never been the same.

I understand that, but the price has been TOO stable. With the recent market volatility and constantly increasing supply, how can the price remain SO steady??

Doge is 16 sats today according to coinmarketcap. At the start of last November it was 31 sats, and it's been slowly dropping since then. That's not a stable price, it's a slow crash.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BLC] Blakecoin Blake-256 for GPU/FPGA With Merged Mined Pools Stable Net on: February 07, 2017, 10:34:53 AM
Although its a bummer we lost bittrex support, this led me to finally try out cryptopia, and I must say I'm really liking it. Cryptopia has a lot of features integrated, and good interface with no lag placing orders. Let's get some steady BLC trading going there, and one day bittrex will regret delisting Smiley

yeah, just never argue with topia admins,
they totally lose any sense of reality humor if you argue their exchange, crypto, whatever..

Unlike with bittrex it's very rare that cryptopia delists a coin. Bittrex is bigger but as soon as a coin's volume drops it gets delisted. Blakecoin is nearly certain to stay on cryptopia
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: RISE | Under Construction | Building A Brand New Codebase on: January 17, 2017, 06:13:36 PM
this sucks...when looking at trump coin it reached $0.41 cents...a lot of people who bought at satoshi's are now holding at least $100,000+ valued trump coin...it makes you wonder how rise is going to do seeing at they raised close to $800,000 on an ico but are taking forever to deliver..

The amount raised during the ICO was in fact 1700 BTC and was liquidated at $700 per BTC so the total is about 1.2M USD.

The reason it is taking long to deliver is not without reason.  We started out with Lisk as our code base and the objective was to build out this code base with the tools, features and specifications we envisioned. We ran against many issues using the Lisk code base (for a complete summary click here) and the Rise dev team spent a very considerable amount of time trying to make it work. Finally the team concluded it will benefit everyone in the long-term (investors and users of the platform) to start building our very own unique Rise code base, no longer being dependent on Lisk, so Rise can be built exactly the way we want with all the specifications and features we envision and using a technology stack we believe is the most promising and future-proof to realize our road map.

Designing the architecture of the new code base of Rise 2.0 started in November 2016.

Is there a github for the present source code, and when will a github be available to show the development of the new source code base?

I couldn't find a github link in the OP.

Hi @suspiciously square,

Here is the link to our gibhub repository: https://github.com/RiseVision

The development of the new code base will be shown there eventually too. Some prep for this was done in the 'Meteor' branch, but you will start seeing more commits after the team is done testing the proof of concept which they now have running on their internal test servers.

Thank you for your interest in Rise!

Thanks. Why isn't that link in the OP?
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [DRONE] DRONE COIN - Scrypt pow/pos on: January 17, 2017, 05:50:46 PM
I also love to fly drones but you know buying a good quality drone is not cheap. I will like to participate in your drone giveaway. Pease explain more that how we can participate in that giveaway. Are there any conditions for that?

This Thursday Jan 14th 2017 I will be giving away this DRONE shown in this photo

It will be shipped to the winner free of charge.

I need to find someone on BCT that is trust worthy to help me conduct the contest fairly. So please PM some names of trust worthy people. I will give more details on the contest on Tuesday.

You could use this website to pick the winner. It publishes a list of participants and the winner to prove a competition was fair.

48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: want to build altcoin with walletbuilder, any idea? on: January 16, 2017, 10:23:20 PM
Is wallet builder easy to use ? Why do you guys say people should not use it ? Is it mostly used by scammers ?
I see many clone coins and scams around so it pays to be extra careful. If coin builder doesnt build trust maybe it is better not to use it ?

There are already so many walletbuilder shitcoins that no exchanges want to add any more. Nobody wants to buy them. If you pay for one nobody will want to buy it, you will just lose the money you paid to get it made.
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Story of Bob Surplus on: December 11, 2016, 07:30:02 PM

I don't know why anyone would want to go hatin on poor bob. He's just makin money the cryptocurrency way - he's fuckin stealing it. You're all just jelly.

Crypto has a proud history of being a nest of thieving scumbags from Zhou Tong to Mark Karpeles. Even the beloved of this forum like Cypherdoc, DeathandTaxes and Eric Voorhees have ended up being worthless fucking scammers. Why pick a little guy like Bob to hate on?

You forgot Matthew N Wright on your scammers list....

No, he's on a different list of mine. He's on the silly dumbass list. He's not really a crafty scammer like Eric Voorhees or Zhou Tong that made us all feel warm and fuzzy while they walked away rich with our money. MnW made a silly bet for tons of money that he lost, couldn't pay and walked away broke. That's different.

He is trying to say that he has repaid everyone in the bet and even posting about it on other forums for anyone he owes to get in touch

https://bitcointalk4.com/important-announcements/matthew-n-wright-is-trying-to-pay-his-debts/

For the record, he hasn't contacted me even though I'm marked on the list as not replying to his contacts ....

There will be a legal reason for that, probably any debt is legally void if someone doesn't reply to a contact attempt after a number of years. Contact him about the debt, and keep a record of it so he can't deny you contacted him.

Matthew  has locked the threads in question and asked all affected  members (whose names are highlighted in red) to contact theymos which i have done but he didnt reply either ..........

I have not went anyway ,nor am i uncontactable

I dont expect matthew to pay up but whenever i see him lying  on other websites  he has made good on all his bet debts  i will continually state for the record that he has NOT so at least  he doesnt get enough trust to scam new people who dont know about the past ..............

Is this the Matthew N. Wright you had dealings with? I couldn't find your name in the negative feedback left for him. You could leave him negative feedback, and mention that you sent him a pm requesting repayment in it. Unfortunately his profile shows he was last active on January 23, 2014 so he isn't reading bitcointalk pms. Is there any other way to contact him through his websites?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=24749

It's ironic he asked you to pm theymos because he gave him negative feedback.

50  Other / MultiBit / Re: 3 days 0 confirms on: December 11, 2016, 05:43:42 PM
no , when I load it up on blockchain.info it says "Transaction not found"

If I update it will I get my BTC back or is that gone now ?
Backup your wallet files first.

Your coins will not be lost. The problem here is that your client is sending transaction that has high-s value and the network has stopped accepting them. Multibit Classic v5.17 fixed this issue and enforces the low-s value in transaction. Your transaction would then be able to get propagated and confirmed.

Check your fees, just in case.

Reset the blockchain once you have done upgrading.

Thanks alot - i've tried updating but its making me go for MultibitHD - so ill install that and reset the blockchain and move it all over.

Thanks for the help - hopefully its all good now Smiley

That might not work, I don't think you can import private keys from multibit classic into multibit HD.

You can download the latest classic from here.

https://multibit.org/releases/multibit-classic/multibit-classic-0.5.19/

You can import your private key from your old wallet into the latest version of classic using instructions here.

https://multibit.org/help/v0.5/help_importingPrivateKeys.html

You could try increasing the transaction fee in the latest classic by selecting view, then preferences. At the top of preferences there is a sliding scale you can use to increase the transaction fee.

Click reset blockchain and transactions afterwards and try sending with the highest possible fee if your wallet will let you.

52  Other / Meta / Re: If theymos dies ? on: December 11, 2016, 01:15:49 PM
Any global moderator can download an encrypted bitcointalk database backup, and some of them probably regularly do. Any admin, or past admin can decrypt those backups to keep this forum running, or move it to a new domain. If theymos died one of the other admins could keep bitcointalk running. Not that theymos is likely to die soon, his profile says he's 25.

In another thread you said that database dumps can be downloaded by other admins, but only you, Gavin, Satoshi and Sirius can decrypt them.
What does "direct database access" refer to? Any admin can query the db directly and e.g. dump it and/or read PMs?

It's not about ST being an admin now; it's just a general question which popped up in my mind when I read this announcement.

Global moderators can download the encrypted database backups. Admins and past admins (Gavin, Satoshi, Sirius, me, and now justmoon) can decrypt them -- they therefore have complete access to the database and can read PMs, etc. Justmoon and I can also query the live database.

How many admins do we have on bitcointalk now?

Two. Gavin recently decided to stop being an admin.

why let this coin get delisted from trex, maybe just ask bill and/or ritchie to keep it for a while more, its a good coin with good development, unique project, i think they will agree

a dozen good unique coins i watch are in same situation now, they should agree to all of em.
send em a shortlist ? with words like you mofos break my heart with your policy ? lol
lol you seriously can compare this coin with some shitcoin that says its  "unique" and dev is nowhere to be seen

not really, i need them all, all those coins are active, it's bittrex not yobit,
their only "disadvantage" is < 0.5btc daily volume, next month may turn 0.75btc, 1 btc, ...

Yobit's increased its charges too. It wants more money to list a coin and now wants money for every wallet update it has to make. Although I don't think its started delisting coins that don't meet a minimum volume yet, it will probably start soon. Blakecoin's trading volume will need to stay high to keep it on any of the medium sized exchanges soon.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: RISE | Under Construction | Building A Brand New Codebase on: November 23, 2016, 09:07:53 PM
LOL!

We spent $140k and achieved nothing, now we'll start from scratch and build a whole new code base and develop it from the ground up.

Quite often new code base coins that have working code are a flop because the code is buggy. It's even worse if there is only a promise of a new code base that might never get written or completed. If it does get completed there will most likely be forks galore as more and more bugs arise.
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stupid coins: The importance of the name on: November 18, 2016, 08:06:35 PM
Ardor is one of the stupidest names anyone gave to a coin. Nxt was a bit weird but it became popular on the basis of being one of the first 2.0 coins. Ardor is ridiculous, and the 2.0 coin hype has run its course. The nxt devs must be betting that giving their new coin one of the stupidest names ever will make it a winner.
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I've been warning you that this is going to happen on: November 18, 2016, 07:29:06 PM

I just read the cryptocoinsnews one, and it says the story originated at zerohedge, which is the same site that recently spread FUD that China was banning bitcoin. All the other news sites picked up on it, but it was FUD.

If the story is true zerohege has overstated and embellished it. The IRS only want details of USA customers, and are starting a court case to attempt getting permission. It might lose the court case, and court cases normally drag on for years so there will be no immediate effects.

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/irs-targeting-bitcoin-transaction-records-coinbase-users/

The cryptocoinsnews story gives this quote from a reddit post claiming to be by a coinbase employee called CB-Dave.

Quote
Coinbase here. Can confirm a civil petition was filed yesterday in federal court in California. We take user privacy very seriously and will work to protect the privacy of our users in broad information requests. We are taking a very careful look at this petition and the scope of the government's authority as it relates to this request.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/5dnyte/the_irs_is_seeking_the_identities_and_transaction/da6017c/

This coinbase page says it does have an employee with the reddit name CB-Dave.

https://support.coinbase.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1766604-is-coinbase-present-on-social-media-

However, I couldn't find any threads about the story on the coinbase forums, or an official announcement about it. Does coinbase normally make announcements through some obscure account on reddit which has only made 21 posts, 6 of which were made today by copying and pasting the quote above?

The IRS won't be getting any transaction history quickly, and might never get any if it loses its court case, if there really is a court case.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I've been warning you that this is going to happen on: November 18, 2016, 06:56:24 PM
Can you post a link to where you got your information from please? What does "provide transaction records of ALL of their users over 2 years" entail providing besides the transactions themselves? Does your source say the IRS wants names, addresses and bank account numbers in addition to the transactions?
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin - 1 | ASIC - 0 | Lyra2RE | Decentralised | GPU Mineable | Open Source on: November 18, 2016, 05:02:46 PM
Well if we aren't allowed to join the slack, why don't we make our own with blackjack and hookers!!
I have an intense personal hatred for exclusivity, VIP areas and elitism. Vertcoin didn't used to be about all that...ho-hum..I suppose a coin is only as good as it's Captain. The current "dev" admitting that he "does not have the skills to lead" and is hoping that Poramin will help him (after Dec 28th) is extremely disappointing IMO. Promising EVM and then days later saying that it wasn't going to happen, WTF?? Who is this guy etang anyway? He doesn't seem to be helping Vert in any way at ALL.

Every cloud has a silver lining, if he gave vertcoin an EVM that got hacked it would finish vertcoin for ever. Thankfully while vertcoin is still on the first page of coinmarketcap it's alive, but perhaps not kicking as much as we were hoping. If we get lucky a new dev might eventually give it a new feature to get it kicking again. Until then at least we have a dev to keep it on life support.
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ***OFFICIAL*** TRUMP COIN UNMODERATED SUPER THREAD**** on: July 16, 2016, 08:56:33 PM

The problem is Chicken holding the trumpfund hostage and being impossible to reason with, this coin cannot rise again under these circumstances.

How much is in the trumpfund? Funds held by the dev have ruined many good coins if a dev leaves and hangs onto them. If the funds are a large amount it puts everyone off buying in because everyone knows the old dev could dump. Starting over from scratch would be better than letting the old dev hang onto those funds.
