41  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's freaking 2017 - Do you own 1 BTC? on: April 12, 2017, 08:12:20 AM
I have earned more than 1 BTC but due to the family needs, I often sell my BTC.  As of now I still have stream of income from BTC majority of it coming from trading and parts is from signature campaign and bounties in this forum.  It is always a good thing to have a Bitcoin savings because of the fluctuation and possible appreciation of price.  We just need sometime and our savings in Bitcoin have gained extra value.

Yes even I have earned more then 1 btc since I am into bitcoins but the only issue is I couldn't save it for a long time as I keep on selling them whenever I am in need of money but now as price is going higher and higher I have decided that I will not spend my bitcoins and instead will try to save it for future.
42  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin make Banks disappear? on: April 12, 2017, 08:10:25 AM
I don't think that "Bitcoin" can make banks disappear. Because im my country we need bank just to withdraw are bitcoin. So how can bitcoin disappear banks. Obvoiusly i think it will be good if there's now an Bitcoin ATM machines in my country it will be good to all bitcoiners in my country. Grin

Even if you don't  have bitcoin ATM machine you don't have to worry if you have facility to use bitcoin debit card as it will make things very much easier as I am using bitcoin debit card in my country without any issues I can withdraw money from any ATM and at the same time can use it to buy anything from shopping malls, restaurants etc.
43  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Daily use of bitcoin? on: April 12, 2017, 08:07:44 AM
My daily use of bitcoin is on trading usually, trades with altcoin buy and sell it. And currently I used bitcoin as mode of payment, sending payment to others which is fast transactions. Buying some stuff online I usually do with my bitcoin. These things really help me also which is hassle free.

But we should also admit that there are very few places at a moment where we can spend our bitcoins and the usage of bitcoin at physical places is almost zero and if you have to spend it at offline places then you have to convert it to fiat first to buy anything.
44  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many ways are there to earn bitcoins? on: April 12, 2017, 08:05:48 AM
Recently, I've been trading bitcoins on btc-e, earning only a little, yes, very little, except the fees that btc-e takes.

Besides trading, are there any good method to earn bitcoins?   Thanks.
Trading is definitely the best way to earn Bitcoin. However, if for some reason you can't trade, then you should post on this forum for a signature campaign. That is another good way to earn some Bitcoin. You could also try doing some freelancing jobs such as writing articles or building something. If you have quite a bit of Bitcoin, then trading is definitely the best option. The other methods just don't earn you anywhere near what you would if you traded well.

Trading also involves the risk of loosing money and it cannot be helpful for everyone as not all are experts in trading so a person who is looking for fixed and stable income in bitcoins can start earning it from signature campaign as he will get paid fixed amount of bitcoins on weekly intervals.

According to the Mod MoosaNYC, BTC-e will be adding new alt-coins in May.

What coins do you think they will add?

Nothing.

Not according to MoosaNYC.

47  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Ron Paul says Bitcoin is not "True Money". on: April 18, 2014, 03:11:39 PM

Ron Paul: Bitcoin is not ‘True Money’

US Congressman Ron Paul does not believe bitcoin is ‘true money,’ but he is still a big fan of the concept.

Ron Paul is one of the most prominent libertarians in US politics. Much of the libertarian movement is in favour of digital currencies, either through active support and endorsement, or by advocating no government interference and regulation.

Ron Paul even got the distinction of having an altcoin named after him. He never shied away from controversial issues and he never kept his love of bitcoin a secret. Paul’s views on the state of our current financial system are more or less known and he reiterated his position on Quora this week.

Government should stay out of the way

When asked why he thinks bitcoin does not fit the definition of money, Paul said it is his personal opinion, but that it should be irrelevant in the big scheme of things.

“Though I don’t personally believe that bitcoin is true money, it should be perfectly legal and there should be no restrictions on it, there should be no taxes on it. The people who operate bitcoin would, of course, be prohibited from committing fraud but the people should be able to have competition whether it is a basket of commodities or crypto-currencies – it should be perfectly legal,” said Paul.

He argued that freedom from government intervention on the Internet is a prerequisite for the development of digital currencies. Paul said he is concerned that the government may want to curtail Internet freedoms. He warned that everyone should be concerned about government interference online regardless of their position on digital currencies.

Terrible monetary system debases currencies

The Congressman pointed out that he sees bitcoin as a very interesting subject and that he has been a champion of legalising competition in currencies for many years.

Ron Paul went on to explain why he’s drawn to digital currencies:

“We have a terrible monetary system today. We have a government that purposely counterfeits and debases the currencies, and I believe that the alternative would be a competition.  That means that anything that wants to substitute for the American dollar should be permitted.

There should be no prohibitions; there should not be a monopoly and a cartel running our monetary system because it so often benefits the privileged few. We certainly saw this in the bailing out of the financial system where the wealthy bankers got bailed out it in this recent and severe recession. I am a strong believer in competition. Bitcoin is an introduction to that.”

Paul stressed the importance of keeping the Internet free of government interference and at the same time keeping digital currencies alive and legal. He warned that the financial system is run by a cartel and by special interests.

“We want a system that truly challenges the government in their ability to take care of the very wealthy at the expense of the middle class and the poor,” he concluded.

nice way to advertise your new exchange....

You're either incompetent and just an asshole.  I'm thinking more likely the later.

Here's a post from 7 months ago about BTC100, so it's not a "NEW" exchange. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=304235.0

And I most certainly don't own it. However, if the volume in the posted link were true, I would wish that I did.

Bitcoin price recovers; Dogecoin in Space; Welcome to Bitcoin Island
As the cryptocurrency markets rebound following last week's price crash, dogecoin makes it into space and one commentator equates bitcoin to plots of land.
The cryptocurrency market never fails to entertain. At the end of last week we saw a market wide crash as bitcoin prices plummeted. 72 hours later and bitcoin's price has recovered bringing with it most of the other big altcoins.

Looking at the price graphs for all the top cryptocurrencies, we see they all took a dip for 24 hours on Friday but most have recovered to the at or near the same levels they were at on Thursday.

One of the coins which wasn't caught up in the bitcoin maelstrom was zetacoin, the mysterious cryptocurrency which is promising big things in relation to some project in Africa. The altcoin saw its value rise 22% in the last 24 hours.

Bitcoin bounce back

As the date for Chinese banks to end any financial relationship with bitcoin exchanges (15 April) gets ever closer, its seems that the expected bitcoin crash may not be as ba as expected.

Bitcoin Price Crashes as Chinese Exchanges Halt Deposits
Last Friday the price of a bitcoin got as low as $355 as a number of exchanges in China reported the suspension of bank transfers from customers seems to have driven the slump in price, with BTCTrade and BTC100 both issuing notices to customers confirming shutdown notices issued by the Chinese government.

It is more uncertain than ever if the impending Chinese regulations are going to have a positive or negative impact on bitcoin's price - if indeed they have any impact at all.

Dogecoin in Space

Dogecoin in Space: NAsa Astronaut take picture in International Space Station
The dogecoin logo pictures in the International Space Station
One of the stated goals of dogecoin is to get "to the moon" and while this is more of a philosophical rallying cry, one Nasa astronaut has helped doegcoin as close to the moon as possible.

Rick Mastracchio is currently aboard the International Space Station and at the behest of his son David, the astronaut took some pictures and video of the dogecoin logo on board the space station.

As David explained in his original post on Reddit:

"I have been a dogecoin supporter for a a few months now. I only wish I could have hopped on at the beginning. My dad is currently on the ISS and so I sent him the high quality picture of the dogecoin to have him take a picture with it and the Earth in the background."

While the post received a lot of attention on Reddit, it also attracted a lot of negative comments from people who believed the images were fake. To try and convince people David asked his father to take some more images, which he duly did, here.

There's even a short video of the dogecoin logo floating in space:

Welcome to Bitcoin Island

Over the weekend a very interesting and insightful post was published by Richard Gendal Brown, who blogs about finance and bitcoin.

In it he compares bitcoin to land, giving three reasons for making such a comparison:

In the end-state the quantity of bitcoin will be fixed, just like land
Bitcoin is not perfectly fungible and neither is land
Bitcoin is not 'consumed' through use – just transformed and transferred. This is similar to land and dissimilar to many commodities, which are consumed (or at least degraded) through use
Brown imagines thinking about bitcoin in terms of 'unspent transaction output'. These are bitcoins that have been sent somewhere but not yet themselves been spent - and when thought of in terms of land, are equated to plots of land.

Brown concludes:

Of course, the land analogy is imperfect but I do think there is something to it. If nothing else, the mental image of "Bitcoin Island" with UTXOs being the plots of land feels like a really useful one... it has certainly helped my understanding...

People can buy BTC and send to the exchange for trading;
Also the initial purchase creates a "bullish" trade on their exchange.
Brilliant solution to getting money in, I wonder if it's a two-way teller machine?

That's what I was thinking. This is an effort (me thinks) to deal with the PBOC concerns.

I'm wondering if this Bitcoin ATM will work to mitigate the whole PBOC issue.
