Any update on this?
Yes, the alpha-models work! Last week I believe I performed the first bitcoin multisig transaction signed offline by a passive NFC tag (no battery), transmitted over an air gap, and then broadcast to the bitcoin network in real time. Here's a video demonstration: https://vimeo.com/105458967Nice! When can I buy one?

I recently had my first experience paying for food and beverages in a restaurant using BTC. It was a really fun experience to use bitcoins "in the real world" and not just for internet commerce. I'm wondering what other people's first experence using their bitcoins fact-to-face was like.

that would lead to the creation of "paper" bitcoin, because the bitcoin at the bank would worth less than a "real" bitcoin
At some point in time there will be paper bitcoin. Just like paper gold, paper wheat and paper pork belly. Just wait for the guys from Wall Street march in...

However, we can state this: we expect an ongoing development of the hash rate until the point where the mining hardware cannot mine efficiently even for pretty low energy costs including a deprecation.
I have to warn you that you might be wrong here. I am expecting the hash rate development over the point of power cost-bitcoins produced equilibrium. In the future I see mining operations running on red and paying more for power than the bitcoins produced, but earning from other services. So don't be so sure that hashrate deployment will stop so soon. I second that.

Ps I've played with mine and it's amazing. Beautiful screen, no lag, plug and play except browser plugin, web wallet works great. These oled screens burn up real quick even if not using them though.
I agree. It's very well done:-)

Anyone know if there's epoxy inside to destroy it if opened?
Tried to open it, but the plastic is rather soft and will get damaged in the process. Sacrificing a 'First Edition' only to have look at a MCU + OLED display is a bit too much;) I hear it's sonically welded Just ordered another one...

Yet another case of a failed asic company. Nobody knows how to make asics - all that digital junk Analog electronic is the only thing that works properly, someone should make a analog miner "Please put down the crack pipe and step away from the microphone, sir!"

And what happens when 'mytrezor.com' is down for some reason? Can I still make payments?
People from Electrum, Multibit, Armory and others are working on TREZOR integration. Once done you can use these clients to perform operations. Ok, thanks. I wait a bit then before moving significant amounts:-)

Bitcoin traders are sometimes accused of unfairly profiting from an opaque asset beyond the understanding of ordinary people.http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/currency/2014/07/bidding-on-bitcoin.htmlYesterday I met a couple of my old classmates on the street. They asked about Bitcoin and started to whine that most people don't understand the mathematical fundamentals behind Bitcoin and therefore had no realistic chance to invest when it was cheap. Of course, I encouraged them to invest now (better late than never) but seems that people generally rather enjoy wallowing in their own self-pity than take steps to adapt and overcome. Even in this forum I have seen demeaning opinions about people who bought in when Bitcoin was trading single digits --- " they are not real investors and their earnings are equivalent to winning with a lottery ticket". I can see that these issues can raise some negative emotions and Bitcoin has even not risen to 6666$ yet . What's the worst case scenario to follow? Bitcoin Jesus getting beaten up by angry conventional Warren Buffer apprentices? If everything was fair, it would be 4 Kelvin everywhere in the universe...
