DATACOIN (bter.com) The coin that actually does something...
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Datacoin] Datacoin blockchain start announcement (Minor code upd + logo) on: December 16, 2013, 05:20:24 PM
I think the Datacoin blockchain may provide an opportunity for tangible 'proof of discovery'. For instance, one places an encrypted copy of intellectual property in the Datacoin chain directly after discovery (well before patent application). Then, you link to the block(s) in your patent application and provide the password for the encrypted data only if the patent application is disputed by another claimant.

Counterpoints?

I worry that a Proof-of-work function—even a decentralizing function like prime chains—will eventually limit total node number. A "proof-of-nodality" coin release would incentivize a greater number of full nodes. The chain is likely to be massive in time, and the incentive to run a full node for network integrity will diminish in time leaving a far fewer number of permanent large capacity nodes and a vulnerable network.

I am making a promise to the company, that if my shares are active on crypto-trade by Sunday, I will give Ken 7 Bitcoins.
You have my word, I swear it on my families graves. Smiley

At what price are you profit taking? ( I want your shares )
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ***** THE ZEROCOIN SOURCE - Truly anonymous coin ***** on: December 12, 2013, 10:23:52 PM
It would be nice if they chose multi-algorithm security like, SRC or QRK, which both might have been nice altcoins without all the pre-mining. Otherwise, you'll need a serious ASIC (sha2 or scrypt) to mine this stuff in 2014. Zerocoin is one to watch if they manage to implement a fair release. Hoping this one is CPU-mineable.

The Crypto-Trade stage should consolidate ownership. I doubt there will be many new investors with 1k BTC prices, but existing owners will either be getting out or consolidating their positions. Either way my guess is there will be fewer Active Mining share holders on the other side of the Crypto-Trade when a colored coin solution is viable.

Serious Active Mining traders would be wise to explore the crypto-trade API now because I have worries about their server's ability to handle serious traffic: as described in the Crypto-Trade shareholder contract: "- Own 16 cores server to run the website" Perhaps since then they have created redundancies in database servers, bitcoind, web server, etc. but don't hold your breath.

Traffic issues could be mitigated to some degree by a significant time period (days) between transition of shares to Crypto-trade and re-opening of ActMining trading, but be prepared to see a lot of redirects to Koddos during initial trading.

It's like to be messy so get your swamp gear out: i.e. API calls with multiple points of origin & please use a VPN to sync your nodes to avoid HTTP POST redundancy (or you'll be contributing to the outage yourself). Serious BTCers ought to have considered such a set up for BTC/Fiat stop loss bots anyways or your simply giving cash away every time GOX / BTCChina is DDos'd and the price drop 20%.

Happy Hunting Active Miners.

CT will handle the volume fine.  CT was formed out of a server company.  That's their real forte.

I won't hold my breath based on blanket assertions—but it would be for the best if you are correct about their readiness. The API/website is a bit slow compared to what I'm used to at other alt-exchanges and that is under normal traffic. Their coind integration of deposits/withdrawals of BTC/PPC/XPM is superior in performance to Cryptsy and BTC-e who give me database/coind linkage issues all the freaking time. Honestly, I rate Crypto-Trade highly (excepting their low trade volume), I am just expecting a lot of action packed into about a 15 - 30 minute period. Be prepared and don't say you didn't have fair warning. Trading has been effectively choked since BitFunder locked out US Traders. There is massive pressure to relieve, and I suspect the balance of it is on the selling side. Crypto-Trade and their shareholders should benefit from the traffic either way.

People need to honestly ask themselves: "What is crumbs' motivation?" I don't believe crumbs or anyone else honestly wants to save me or anyone else from a bad investment. At least VolcanicEruptor is an admitted market manipulator. What exactly is crumbs up to? Simple: market manipulation.

Crumbs doesn't want Active Mining to fail just cheap shares.

You know you are going to crash that motorcycle the first day you get it. There are no winners in Active Mining.

There are many winners in active mining. My (tortoise) shell accounts are flush with the rewards of investing in under-valued active mining shares but selling over-valued shares.

Looking forward to the crypto-trade rollout. I suspect cheap shares will be had as people will be dumping shares sub 0.0010BTC. I'm not sure crypto-trade can handle the increased traffic, though. I would count on some growing pains as ActM account sign-ups explode with the disillusioned masses looking to dump their shares. If you're looking to buy, it may be wise to queue up your buy orders now under a second Crypto-trade account.

Picking up shares of Crypto-Trade itself would be a good idea as well.  They will make a fortune from all the transactions and activity.

I agree with this excepting that there may be hiccups with the increased securities trading there and I doubt they have enough staff to handle tech support of a bunch of new users. Negative sentiment » lower crypto-trade prices?

Tips for getting a second account setup on crypto-trade: **Who knows if this will be compatible with your shares so use a different e-mail than your BitFunder shareholder e-mail address**

Generate a new e-mail account with two factor authentication (either SMS or google authenticator or both):
https://gmail.com
NOTE: It's nice to have a spare burner or two for sms authentication. Also, don't link to an identifying e-mail account—say like the one you use here or at BitFunder. Not because you are hiding something, instead because you don't want this e-mail account to be vulnerable to social engineering.

1st, open incognito window on Chrome and generate passcodes:
generate strong password:
https://www.random.org/passwords/?num=1&len=24&format=html&rnd=new
generate random 5-digit pin:
https://www.random.org/integers/?num=1&min=10000&max=99999&col=5&base=10&format=html&rnd=new
NOTE: Secure this information in an encrypted file on a usb and at least one secure server in case of loss or theft.

Goto Crypto-trade and setup your account:
https://crypto-trade.com/signup

Setup Google Authenticator two factor authentication "2FA Section" within your account tab:
https://crypto-trade.com/member/2fa

Grab some python code for API trading on crypto-trade.com:
https://github.com/Ademan/crypto

Generate your API keys:
https://crypto-trade.com/member/apisettings

Write some custom code for keybinding buy/sell at -25%/-12.5%/-6.25%/+6.25%/+12.5%/+25% market during rapid early trading phase:
Code:
You should really write your own code...

Calculate an exit strategy for any coins gained:
Pick a target number and date and stick to it—95% of securities exchanges go scam intentionally or otherwise. There will likely be a continuity path for your shares, but not for your coins. Make your profit then withdraw to the paper wallet you had tattooed in fluorescent ink on your pet tortoise's neck.

Thankfully (sic) crumbs will be here to keep prices low, but if the dividends start to roll in towards the 0.0025 payback mark, no amount of trolling will keep the price down.

54  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: goxgui - a Graphical Bitcoin Trading Tool for MtGox on: November 11, 2013, 02:30:38 PM
It seems gox-gui is irrevocably tied to MtGox -- Just look at the name. I suppose porting it to another exchange wouldn't be super difficult (you just need to fork prof7bit's excellent goxtool and redo the API extensions, websocket, and JSON indexes), although it certainly lies outside the scope of a project named after MtGox. Personally, I'd expect there'll be people forking it for BTCChina.

Really very nice work on this one, and thanks to prof7bit as well for the excellent goxtool.

Cheers.

Announcement

Due to Bitfunder closing down, we are extending the deadline to transfer shares to AMC-TENDER until November 13th, 2013.

At this time all shareholders should follow the procedure for transferring shares to AMC-TENDER.

Dividends which are due to be paid tomorrow will be suspended until we have the share problem solved.

We will be creating Pass-Through shares on a yet undetermined exchange for our shareholders.

After the Pass-Through is created, we will pay the suspended dividends.

Active Mining Corporation (Belize)

Regarding above. I can't seem to find the original post with instructions regarding sending an e-mail or signing a message with a bitcoin address after tendering. Could someone please post a link to the exact post with instructions? I could find it here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1707;sa=showPosts;start=0 either.
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [PPC]The Future of Peercoin - Sunny King + 1 FREE PPC per person on: November 05, 2013, 03:22:50 PM
Neither the rich nor poor are getting richer with proof-of-stake—PPCoin is an inflationary currency. Some people are losing due to inflation, though—those who are not minting with their coins (such as, cryptocurrency traders holding coins in online wallets).
