Welcome back Moonmoon!

I know exactly what your talking about with brownouts and SSD's. I got some of the first gen 240GB SSD's from Intel and OCZ and they lasted through 2 brown outs before crapping out on me! Thankfully they were under warranty and i got them replaced free of charge!

I really like the idea of two wallet releases since it is a shady area. The biggest thing is even if your the creator, if you dont have the backbone support, someone can easily swipe up the code and if they have a large team, they could easily surpass us with apps in the app store and put us down.

I also love Snotty's art work! I think that so far as won ESPECIALLY with the splash startup screen that Coinrudar made! I hope we get that implemented in the wallet! Would definately add another thing that makes Particle stand out compared to other coins! Just another thing to add to the list of why PRT is better:)

 Grin Grin Grin Cool Cool

Well worth it! I try to keep active on the site but often forget.

On a side note....EVERYONE WHO IS INVESTED IN PRT, JOIN Altsino.com. The more users....the better it is!!!

Also, wheres moonmoon? Seems like he's been online recently, just lack of posting:( Now that BTC is down, it will be WAY easier to convince people to move into PRT as the price is lower. Getting everything rolled out while were in the down spell is probably the best oppertunity we have in bringing users into PRT community.

I hope we don't launch the wallet in an opensource fashion yet. Maybe 6 months after final release is launched we can release the source, but right now is not the time. Some other coin will swoop it up, implement it ASAP and take over PRT's spotlight....not good!
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PRT] Particle | CPU/GPU, Fast, Easy Mine, * NO PREMINE * | Official Thread on: February 03, 2014, 11:28:37 PM
Nowhere was it stated the 100 confirmations was due to low hash rate.  You are making that up for your own purpose.

How about PRT/BTC on CoinMarket.io?

It would be quite slow to deposit, considering a 100 confirmation requirement...

(a hint to the coin's dev: the 100 confirmation requirement is ridiculous when you have enough hashrate (eg. not a dead coin))

Or, you know, maybe that was stated somewhere..?
Lol are you english as a second language?  Read that again.

Nowhere does that say that there is a 100 confirmation requirement DUE TO LOW HASHRATE.  coinmarket.io was saying the OPPOSITE when it was added.  They said it does have enough hashrate so moonmoon should change the 100 confirmation req because that is ridiculous on a non dead coin.

Before you go correcting someone elses english, you should have correct grammar as well. "are you english..." is not correct.

Sup guys.
We're glad to present our exchange with your coin on it: http://freshmarket.co.in/index.php?page=trade&market=117

Hey def_ender - Whats up with your exchange? Not online anymore? If so, we need to start communicating about how i can get ym funds back.

So just out of curiosity, how many people are actively mining solo with CPU's?

How many people are actively mining with GPU's?

What are your average hash rates (doesn't need to be exact, an average is fine with me)?
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PRT] Particle | CPU/GPU, Fast, Easy Mine, * NO PREMINE * | Official Thread on: January 28, 2014, 02:18:20 AM
ok, it's an old template, but I hope we can use some of it:
http://tinypic.com/r/ve1ahl/5
also, I've used what I've got from novocaine

(man... had to stop mining for few minutes to have this rendered   Grin )
How big would an animated gif version of that be?

Thanks Coinrudar for creating that! I love it! I think you should contact moonmoon for the current design to replace novocaine's mockup of PRT. Would love to see this implemented instead of the static image that we have going right now.

Either PM me or post your PRT address, i got a donation for you since you jumped on making this pretty fast!

Do we know whats going on with mine-pool.net?

Seems like the whole site has gone down since last night? Glad i had a backup server setup to another pool:)

Also, do we have a site up that shows PRT's total hash rate?
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PRT] Particle | CPU/GPU, Fast, Easy Mine, * NO PREMINE * | Official Thread on: January 26, 2014, 11:19:51 PM
just an idea:

name the app market simply ION (which is also a particle), and then use this http://ition.net/  Grin

p.s. i own the domain name / animation is bought somewhere (i don't remember) / i used random date for counter, just to see how it works (can be changed) / text can be changed / subscribe and social media links not set up

any comments?

I like your site:) Partially because its in HTML5:)

What are your intentions for the site?

The ability to direct the pools combined power to a different external pool is a must. (this will only be used once the pool isnt generating enough hashing power to find blocks)

Wish i could help you out bittick! Unfortunately i got no coding experience on this.

Are you planning an app that allows mining from the wallet that functions on this pool?

How many pools actually operate this way?

I have been with Particle Coin since almost the start. This coin has the best devs out of all currencies! I have not seen any dev so proactive in advancing the coin or even coming up with concepts that actually are worth while.

In 6 months, this coin will be 100x its value and will be the predominate coin out of all alt coins! The new wallet + marketing concepts that the devs are coming up with will pull this coin to be in the top 5 spots!

I'm still amazed by the capabilities of moonmoon, you throw out a crazy idea about what could be implemented and it's like "Oh, yea, can do!".  And it's not too late for anyone to be involved with their ideas.

I am also beyond amazed! Moonmoon is fucking AMAZING and EVERYONE should be giving him WAY more credit than he is receiving! The amount of work he solely has put into this coin in the small timeframe is FUCKING AMAZING.

When i got into PRT, i honestly thought it was another pump and dump coin, but after the first few days of watching the coin development and seeing moonmoon talk about his ideas; i soon realized that this coin is no where near a pump and dump coin and i had realized that this coin will be up near the level of LTC/BTC as the ideas to get this coin to mass market are slowly(or i guess actually fastly) becoming more promising!

+1 to every single word!

All that is required now is an exchange that can handle...
Quote
Particle

Completely agree! Though the longer it takes for us to roll out to a high volume exchange means the more PRT i can gather on the cheap:) But honestly i would like it to hit a nice high volume exchange sooner than later as this will bring more people into the realm of PRT and hopefully bring more devs to help further advance the progress of the coin faster.

53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GIVEAWAY] 0 PRT Left - Particle Coin Giveaway! [FINISH] [PRT] on: January 26, 2014, 06:39:54 PM
Hey everyone!

I have dished out all donations to the address that had yet to be paid. Of course due to my real life, i was unable to send the donations as the address were posted which resulted in going over the amount i received in donations.

HOWEVER! Since i was not as active as i wanted to be for this donation, i used my PRT to cover the extra 11,000 PRT for donations!

I will be holding another donation in the near future and i am hoping we can use the new donation thread as a promotion thread, as well as a give away!

Keep your eyes peel for a new thread to be starting within the next month!

Buying Particles. PM me your offer. I dont want to use Coinedup since slow system

Unfortunately Coinedup is our only trading system. If you are buying from any user, i recommend using an escrow service to limit your risk of theft.

I would also suggest for your own safety sake to use coinedup and deal with the slow speed as they have no transaction fee where an escrow service might.

To everyone:

I think we need to redistribute the hashing power on our coin. This i dont think has been brought up yet, however people need to STOP mining on CoinMines server and move the power to the other servers.

Coinmine currently pulling way to much hashing power compaired to the other servers that are out there.

Please move some of your hashing power out of CoinMine and into the other servers before we get to be a popular coin! This will help all of us in terms of security!

I have moved off CoinMine and over to SuprNova's site. CoinMine and Mine-Pool seem to be both pulling the majority of the network's power - atleast for pools

Where do you look to see how much the pools are pulling compared to network?

We don't have a source to view the network hash rate (as far as i can tell), but the time is coming before people pull their GPU farms off the coin(LTC diff drop will force gpu's back to it) and block reward too low for farms to keep all in.

That being said, i was comparing pool hash power individually. Not the best gauge of how much power is being put towards the coin, but it gives a some what "rough" estimate.

IF GPU's were to pull all out(smelter only allows solo mining), then we would have a serious issue which is why i suggest we start to combat the issue prior to having a potential issue.

While a HUGE fan of the new wallet idea I just don't understand the point of an 'App Store' within the wallet which now seems to be the primary focus?  Maybe I am looking at it the wrong way but these are my concerns.

1)  Why would I want a bunch of apps running within my wallet?  Like what would they be?  People are making comparison to Google Play...so you guys are thinking people want to download games like Angry Birds or Tetris and other smartphoney type apps like AccuWeather to use within their wallet???  Why?  Seems like besides being unnecessary it would bloat the Wallet program and make it run slower and/or open a huge can of security issues.

2) This is your wallet aka your personal bank vault holding all your wealth in Particle.  Most people don't even trust pre-compiled binaries of their wallet.  Who would want/trust to use a 3rd party app within your wallet?  Seems like a hug security issue.  Who/How verifies that the apps are safe and not doing something nasty?

Interested in what people think and counter arguments.

The points you made are perfectly valid, but while I really have no interest in playing Angry Birds in my Particle wallet, having an ability to insta-pay for an upgrade making my angry birds angrier is something that would be nice. It is a brave and risky idea, which could go really bad if implemented wrong, but blow away anything else out of water or atleast make way for more public/market based crypto movement, instead of fighting about which fancy hashing algorithm is fanciest in the same circle, which is something most people completely doesn't care.

You say "Most people don't even trust pre-compiled binaries of their wallet.", which, in my humble opinion, is a bit of elitist statement and such thinking, while quite reasonable in the core of crypto community, is blocking the circulation of coins from expanding rapidly in the less tech-savvy public.

That being said any app that could go in the wallet, should be examined extremelly well (maybe open source being a requirement, i'm not sure if that would work), same should be (and I bet will be) done with wallet API functions.

Now, I for one, would like an app which would show my balance in a BTC/USD/EUR according to different exchanges. Simple - yes, useful - sure. Will it make the wallet run slower and use more resources - only with wrong implementation. Even having an app which displays bitcointalk.org for some people would be pretty convenient.

The point is - giving people the tools to work with and we, as a human race, have already displayed throughout the history, what amazing things we can do with them.

Having apps run in the background could also mean just more resources are consumed by ones computer.

Running a typical desktop at 2.3GHz with 8GB ram, i would be very concerned if i noticed bad performance. That is not something that should occur and being in the QA industry, it would not be acceptable. If a dev created a product to launch and said this was a "final" product to submit for the store, it should be reject for the reason of poor performance. As computers grow and the industry becomes more powerful, we are seeing it increasingly harder to have low amounts of memory and CPU speeds. Mean theres rumor that DDR4 is launching this year.....which means if it launches Q2 '14, by Q2 '15 - Q4 '15 retailers will be unloading stock at significant discount to make room for the new industry strandard - People are going to be adding more RAM to their system as we become more reliant on computers.

That means we shouldn't worry about a "bog" from the hardware standpoint - will will all be  based on the devs code for how slow it will run.

One other thing to look at for an example is www.secondlife.com. I have no clue how many of you actually have seen secondlife in its current state, but it launched in 2003. I played it for about 2 hours back in 2006ish....it wasn't my style of game.

When it launched, it was a single island - map example - http://www.slmaps.com/oldmaps.htm -

This image is of the world map as it stands in 2013 - http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/File:Continents_Map.png

Secondlife was built on the idea of UGC - User generated content. EVERYTHING you see in game was pretty much created by the community of Secondlife(watch the movie on netflix called life 2.0). Secondlife's creators just created the vessel for the community to bring their thoughts to reality. Its quiet genius IMO as from the dev stand point, makes your life easier. You get to focus on the smaller, but yet more important things like security, quality over quantity, and marketing.

Freeing the dev's time from creating apps and having more time to focus on optimizing the wallet itself, and marketing the coin to less techy/non-computer nerds is how this coin will grow. Being able to create a system for mass market that is user friendly, visually appealing(metro style is becoming more popular) is great for all the non techy computer nerds out there.

I think we need a "standard" for the app store, similar to how Play/iOS store functions to get apps on the market. Maybe we can have a section within the app store for "Community Testing" that allows devs to publish apps that lack test support and can get reviewed by the community before actually being pushed out(if something similar, would deff need a popup stating these apps are alpa/beta tests, use at own risk). These alpha/beta apps would first have to be reviewed by someone/open-source or otherwise before being published there to verify no malware code is present.

You only need to supply the vessel for one to be creative, you dont need to be the creative one

It would be up to you to decide if you wanted apps running and what apps you trust.  Maybe a trader wants access to charts, maybe a business man wants access to his business's online orders.  Really can't know what the market will bring until the capability is here.

Sure but why would anyone want to do that within a tiny wallet when they could just open it in another window? I could see maybe a mobile app but not for desktop.

Why do you say "within a tiny wallet"?

Say someone like me. I am not a day trader, however i am i a swing trader. I trade with real money, and have minimal real money investments in the crypto world, however i have a fair bit in the actual stock markets. I for one, would love to be able to have an app that would allow me to view detailed charts of volume, transactions, or even pending transactions with the exchanges. The pending transactions(level 2 quotes) aren't as important for me as a swing trader on the crypto world, but they are crucial for a day trader. Having an app that supplies this data within my wallet would be amazing. Having another app...or even the same app to allow me to initiate trades within my exchange straight from my wallet WITHOUT having to switch apps/pages would speed up the trading time for a day trader.

Trading is jsut one example and for day traders, anything to give them that few second advantage over the other guy can not have a value on it. Did we ever thing that a crypto coin such as bitcoins would hit the same value as gold back in 2009? No.

The crypto world is still a infant. Its just started and now that we have mass population hitting one coin, the wealth will spread out to the alt coins when people start to realize the benefit of the alt coins over the primary coin.

Yes there is always a potential to security for running apps within a wallet, however thats not for you to say that it will crush this idea. Yes the security is the most important thing as this is your bank....but whos to say your desktop that your running your wallet within doesn't have a bunch of trojans or malware thats collecting every keystroke that you enter and is keeping detailed logs of all your credit cards, debit cards, paypal accounts, bank accounts?

Whos to say that that awesome game/app you installed on your Android, Windows, iOS phone doesn't have a secret hidden process to monitor your phone so it can collect your CC info/password from the Google Play/App store?
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PRT] Particle | CPU/GPU, Fast, Easy Mine, * NO PREMINE * | Official Thread on: January 23, 2014, 04:56:15 PM
how how do you guys see this coingoing for quark value or higher? I have 29,000 k not sure how long i should wait before slowly unloading it

compared to bitcoin this coin should go to $17.00 and that is not counting the improvements this coin has over bitcoin.

why exactly 17$?

The features that the devs are bringing to this coin are like no other. The wallet design is like no other. The implementation of the app store alone will bring more and more users to the coin as this is what will separate the coin from all other coins out there.

The devs don't need to create the app's for the app store, they just have to provide the vessel for the community to allow them to provide their personal app creations to the the users. Granted, yes the devs will create apps for the market to start out as this is the only way to give a tech demo, but once its implemented. Look at Android, Windows phone, and iOS app store. The companies did not make all the apps, they did make a few at the start, but then the community of users are the ones who flooded the stores with apps. The companies only provided a means for the community to supply the community with the apps.

I think with that being said, the more people who don't dump massive amounts of coins but rather dump 1k at a time and rebuy +1k or more, the coin will increase in value beyond what we all could expect.

I have sold over 20k worth of prt, but yet i have bought over 200k prt as well.

Moonmoon's idea of the "Particle Accelerator" and reference to AOL's mass mail marketing is exactly the kind of ideas we need for this coin especially since this is coming from the devs. The idea of being able to sell a jump start/kick start a noob friendly product will significantly increase the value of the coin. We need an easy, go to, product that will allow the not so tech savvy userbase to enter the coin.

Mailing something like a usb or some proprietary product would be amazing for this product!

im def hold on to them if they went for $17 a coin i think i would die of a massive heart attack

I am in for the long haul like most others on this coin. I want to see it worth atleast $10/prt
