41  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are dice sites reliable? on: March 10, 2017, 07:48:20 AM
"Provably Fair" is safe to play on sites that provide. If the site gives the value "Serverseed hashed" before the dice throw, there is no problem. We can say "Provably Fair" for this site.

The calculation process is described here. https://dicesites.com/provably-fair

Visa can process 2000 transactions in seconds. How many transactions can be done with Bitcoin in seconds?
3-5 tx/sec in average

Visa can process 2000 transactions in seconds. How many transactions can be done with Bitcoin in seconds?
Based on my research Bitcoin can process over 7 transactions per second.

Can the improvements be made on the protocol when the bitcoin system is being used more intensively in the future?
44  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What protection do BTC sites use for security? on: March 03, 2017, 11:12:42 PM
There are many projects with bitcoin. There are many different sites such as gambling sites, trading sites, credit sites. Users send bitcoin to these sites. The bitcoin volume on the sites can be may high.

How do these sites provide bitcoin security? What are the characteristics of the servers they use? They can take security measures in a software sense. But a person working in the hosting company can play bitcoins.

What protection do these sites use for security?
Just use the cloud flare to protecting these sites from DDOS attack. But it seems like make the site has become unsecured caused by the packet data must be passing the cloudflare database. and Some days later with the issue on cloudflare it makes all of the bitcoin site unsecured.

I asked for a site with software and system security.
How do we protect Bitcoins from the employees of the hosting company?

Continuous instant transactions are being made on stock exchange sites. What happens when a user swaps a large amount? Such sites need automatic processing.
Of course they need automatic processing. They have custom made scripts for automatic processing, but you won't find any information on that I'd assume. What is your question here? Every site that handles bitcoins (or atleast the vast majority of them) have automatic processing on deposits and withdrawals.

You said that the sites kept bitcoins as cold storage for safety.
If bitcoins are stored as cold storage, how do users exchange, deposit and withdrawals for bitcoin.
47  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Instant exchange transactions on trade sites? on: March 03, 2017, 08:55:27 PM
When I look at the online screens on the trade sites, I see that a lot of transactions are made in succession.
It takes a bit of time to confirm the transfer process with Bitcoin. Even if an appropriate fee value is entered, you may have to wait.

How do you transfer bitcoin so fast among people in these sites?

That actually is an interesting question.

I would say, apart from well codes software and secure high-end servers, they use one-time deposit addresses, hot wallets. Most of the user funds are kept in cold storage, which is afaik the safest way of storing bitcoins. Many sites have also started using hardware wallets such as Trezor to keep funds safe.

49  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: About verification count on: March 03, 2017, 08:02:21 PM
The transfer process is 1 transaction.

The transactions are relayed across the peer-to-peer network so all nodes are aware of the transaction and have verified it.
Bitcoin Core software is a node? Do the nodes perform authentication?

Eventually the transaction reaches some miners and mining pools.  The solo miners (and the mining pools) gather together 1 megabyte of transactions into a block of transactions.  Then they build a header for that block.  They work on a proof-of-work by hashing the block repeatedly with a different input value each time until they find a hash that is lower than the current difficulty target.
What happens if the process size is less than 1 MB? How are transaction sizes calculated? What is the total size of a block operation? What's in a block process? If there are 0 operations, can the miners find a block again? What is the difference between the transaction problem (block) solved by mining and the transaction problem (block) solved during money transfers?

Then they add the block to their copy of the blockchain and broadcast the block to all the peer nodes they are connected to.  The block is relayed across the peer-to-peer network until all nodes are aware of the block of transactions and have verified it and added it to their own copies of the blockchain.
Where is the block chain kept? Why are they releasing the block to the knots again? Are the transfers not already delivered to the nodes when first done? Do the nodes not approve the operation at first?

When your transaction is included in a block, it then has "1 confirmation".  After that, whenever another block of transactions is added to the blockchain then the number of "confirmations" for your transaction is increased by 1.
So we can say that this process is finalized after we get 2 approvals. Because now another block will be added.
Is there any doubt about the validity of this process once I get one confirmation?

We are entering 4 parameters to send bitcoin. Address, Description, Quantity, Fee
1. Is it mandatory to enter the description parameter?
Can we make a transfer by making the description blank?

The bitcoin protocol does NOT require a description.  Depending on the wallet software you are using, your wallet might require you to enter a description.  If you don't like that, then use a different wallet.

2. Can anyone else read the description we have entered? So the miner who approved the transaction can read this description? Can this description be read after the process is completed? Technically this is possible?

The bitcoin protocol does NOT use descriptions. Depending on the wallet software you are using, your wallet might share the description with others. If you don't like that, then use a different wallet.

When I transfer bitcoin to someone, I write something in the description. When Bitcoin reaches the other side, he can see what I wrote in his wallet.

How that happens?

What wallet are you using?  Some wallets share the descriptions with the recipient or with the public.  If you don't like that, then use a different wallet.

I use an electrum. Then the electrum itself adds this description.
For example, if a btc transfer was made for me from a wallet that does not use an description, I would see the description part blank in my wallet.
Or if I had made a transfer to a wallet that did not use an description by writing an description from my electrum wallet, electrum would not be able to convey this description?

I read the messages. Everyone wrote the same thing. Everybody said your safety is provable. Do you explain to me how it can be proven? I mean companies that have signature campaigns on the forum. So primedice, kingdice, 777coin, bitvest etc.
Do you openly explain how technically safe companies are like?

Thanks.

It can be proven easily, a dice site gives you a:

Serverseed - provided by the gambling site
Clientseed - provided by your browser and adjusted by you
Nonce - A number that increases with each bet you make

And a secret seed which will be revealed when you choose a new seed and you want to verify your rolls, this way a site can't temper with the outcome of your rolls.

https://dicesites.com/provably-fair

I've examined the connection you gave. I will have two questions.

How can I get the following values when the first starts the game?

Quote
Clientseed: ClientSeedForDiceSites.com
Serverseed unhashed: 293d5d2ddd365f54759283a8097ab2640cbe6f8864adc2b1b31e65c14c999f04
Serverseed hashed: 5ac59780d512265230d5efb3cc238886dc1b457a80b54fbf1f920b99c6505801
Nonce: for the first bet it is 0 on this dice site (PrimeDice)

Secondly, how are these values assigned time? So I should know the value of "Serverseed hashed" before I throw the dice. Then when I dice, I should send "Clientseed" and "Nonce" to the server. After I have done the server calculation, it should send me the value "Serverseed unhashed" and the dice result. If there is a sequence like this, the "provably fair" statement would be correct.

Everything is assigned by the site, except the Clientseed this you can choose yourself. The rest is available to see except the Serverseed unhashed this will become visible after you choose a new seed and want to verify your previous bets. The unhashed server seed doesn't come available after every roll, that is the old provably fair system which made it hard to verify thousands of rolls and required a new unhashed serverseed after every roll, so now they implemented the Nonce into the calculation which increases with every roll made to make it easier for us to verify but still being a provably fair dice site.

Just try it out with different chosen client seeds on primedice and use the verifier of dicesites.com to see if it shows the same results.
https://dicesites.com/primedice/verifier or seuntjies dicebot also provides a good verifier.

I did not get the answer to the question I asked.
Where can I get the value of "Serverseed hashed" when I enter Primedice site? Where can I get the "Clientseed" value? How can I change the value of "Clientseed". I did not see the area to change.
52  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: About verification count on: March 03, 2017, 03:44:08 PM
What is the minimum number of verifications required for a transfer to succeed?
What is the maximum number of verifications required for a transfer to succeed?

What is the factor that determines the number of verification?

1 confirmation and the transaction is settled.

There is no maximum, every block is one more confirmation.

The person receiving the transaction decides how many confirmations they're comfortable with.

That's why hundreds of confirmations are happening. What exactly is Block? So the transfer process that I sent is 1 block?
53  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Transfer operation and Explanation on: March 03, 2017, 03:40:07 PM
The description of a transaction is never stored on the blockchain, it is stored on your computer, in your wallet. So you don't have to fill in the description and only you can see it. Some bitcoin wallets don't even have the feature to give description to transactions

When I transfer bitcoin to someone, I write something in the description. When Bitcoin reaches the other side, he can see what I wrote in his wallet.

How that happens?

Does anyone know how this site works? You enter the bitcoin address or TX ID value. The site provides information about the approval status of the transfer process. For example, it gives information about how much time has passed through the process and how long the process will be approved as an estimate.

How to find estimate how long a transaction will be approved? How does the site calculate this?
