To everyone having Pennies issues after Jan. 8th: Debug instructions1. Open "Command Line Banking" and type 'getinfo' - Make sure protocolversion is 7000 (version 0.10.0.0-beta) - If not, go update to v0.10.0.0 2. Open "Command Line Banking" and type 'checkwallet' - Make sure it responds {"wallet check passed" : true} - If not, run 'repairwallet' and wait. 3. If your blockchain is stuck/not syncing - Check your pennies.conf and wipe any nodes you aren't sure about - Add 'node.cryptsy.com' Woops, seems cryptsy may have missed the update, hold off on that* - Save and restart wallet 4. If it's still stuck - Shut down wallet - Go into your pennies appdata (%APPDATA%\Pennies) - Delete all files other than 'pennies.conf' and 'wallet.dat' - Relaunch wallet - Wait for it to resync the chain from scratch If none of this works, just wait a few days for the network to sort itself out, then open an issue on the github. *Try some of these nodes for now: addnode=75.119.241.185

I added these nodes, but nothing has changed.
How much you get depends entirely on how many hashes are on the network, which changes depending on difficulty thanks to sites like coinchoose and dustcoin. Can't really tell you what to expect. Due to how slow the network is thanks to the diff roller coaster, the wallet may be up to date but not know it sometimes. These issues should be sorted out by block 15000 when the fix kicks in. You can either stop talking shit about the coin or the community can take it over from you. If you decide to continue talking shit about it, and refuse to hand over the keys the community can fork your ass. Get with it, man, or get out of the way.

Mmm, I don't need to use pennies to learn, I'm already well experienced with cryptocurrencies and pennies is just a half-assed hack job anyway. I mostly just took it over for fun, and because i hate to see things fade away. Mostly I was just interested in Doubloons and foocoin (et al), pennies just hitched along for the ride. The only truly interesting feature of pennies is the indivisible integer based system, and I plan on using it in my future 'tokens'. |

The first major use for pennies would be for minecraft. We need to create a plugin for minecraft,that would let people use pennies in the game. There's a broker plug in for bitcoins. We need to modify it somehow to use pennies instead of bitcoin. http://www.curse.com/bukkit-plugins/minecraft/bitcoin-brokerThat's what i helped develop Craftcoin for. I'm not about to undermine my own work just to make my yahtzee chips more useful. They also are PoS, and we all know why that's a good thing.
On the contrary, PoS is a terrible thing. It encourages people to abandon network security in favour of hoarding and it's just poorly implemented all around. If I'd been developing pennies from the start i never would of used PoS, as it is, shake just didn't care enough to rip it out. |

General response regarding Pennies client lag:
Due to the massive amount of stake that is still being calculated by the network, clients (especially GUI clients) are expected to be extremely laggy and possibly crash periodically. Most of these issues should be resolved after the January 8th fix, any remaining issues will be looked into with more detail sometime after that.

The label your address is identified with in the wallet. If you just remove it from the script all together it should grab the balance of your entire wallet. That script splits your pennies into 50mil transactions to optimize stake acquisition, but it's basically useless now. |

Alright, this is the last time I'm going to say this: Pennies are supposed to be worthless and i will not do anything to change that no matter how much you whine about it.
You invested in a currency that was always meant to be worthless from the very start, if you lose any money on it it's your own damned fault. No one advertised this currency, no one told you it was a good idea to invest in it, you did it all on your own specifically against the developers suggestions. If cryptsy delists it that's completely fine by me, i don't know why they ever wasted their time with it in the first place, i don't know why any of you have wasted your time with it. None of you were even supposed to know about this coin, it was just an experiment for shake and his pals at #fridaynightunix. That any of you even care about it is an anomaly i don't understand but I will not change the only purpose this coin had just to appease you.
I would like to request that any further discussion about pennies be done in the forum linked in the OP, this thread was not supposed to be dedicated to pennies but rather the future endeavours of RazorLove services. My point is, there are too many in existence. The whole idea of indivisibility was novel, but it only exacerbates the problem, divisibility should be retuned at the same time that stake is removed to ensure this coin lives and people's investment of time , funds and costs does not go down the drain.
Trying to stick to the idea of having trillions that are continuing to stake is absurd, even with the stake reduction if i have a trillion, i will stake 10 Billion, as a result the mony supply will still grow very fast.
but if we divide by ten billion then a trillion becomes a hundred coins, which grow by 1 coin a week, which is far more manageable growth. in a month even with the stake fix, we may very well reach the point where the client is unable to display the balance.
So it would deal with inflation, absurd numbers, and stay well within transaction limits for A LONG TIME.
Just food for thought.
Your grasp of simple mathematics is terrible, if everything is divided by a <x> it wouldn't make a damn difference in any value. sure, each coin would be worth <x> times more, but it's the same relative value as they have now. The only real effect this would have is eliminating many peoples pennies. The only issue is MAX_TX, which as I've stated before, is easily remedied. |

One more thing, and I just want to clarify because I'm very new to POS coins. I can, in fact, send coins to the same wallet via a different address from that wallet, and it will reset the coin age for POS? I only ask because I received confirmations on all of the tx of 50,000,000 pennies I sent; however, in my wallet they show up under my ledger as the amount of 0.
Yes, when you transfer coins between addresses in the same wallet it will display a change of 0 in your ledger/tx history. This is because as far as the wallet is concerned, your balance hasn't changed. You can see how many coins are in each address by enabling coincontrol. |

i know you are busy, but did you ever think about re-introducing decimals and placing at a point where it divides by 10 billion? It means you won't have to bother with increasing the transaction limit. and since there is time you can just put it in the current update.
That wouldn't really solve anything and would completely defeat the purpose of pennies. Everything is fixed other than the max tx size and that can be easily remedied, i just don't want to push out another update while these people still can't figure out they need to update to the current one. Hey guys, so, Pennybank is kind of unreliable to load for me. Every time I try to boot the qt client, sometimes it will load, and sometimes it just brings up the loading page, and gets stuck. I typically have to reload my computer once or twice to get it to work. Anyone know why this is happening?
To many stakes in the system is making it take awhile to load. It will load up if you just leave it for 10-20 minutes, your rebooting is just going to corrupt your data. |

PoS itself isn't the problem, it was a misplaced decimal because, as i've said many times, this was a just for fun coin and no one cared enough to double check everything before that release that never happened. If I downloaded the 10.0 wallet I can now transfer say 2 billion cent from Cryptsy all at once and it should earn interest with no issues by the 8th? Is this right? No worries about doing 100 fifty million separate transfers?
v0.10.0 fixes the stake bug (starting jan 8 ), but it doesn't address the max transaction size of 1billion. Anything you transfer will need to be less than that. I'll probably do something about that later, for 0.10.1 or something. Should theoretically be as simple as modifying transaction validation from MAX_MONEY to INT_MAX. |
