43  Bitcoin / Press / [25-10-2017]More Rumors Amazon Could Accept Bitcoin on: October 26, 2017, 01:39:05 PM
Further rumors are surfacing that Amazon will announce a Bitcoin-related innovation Thursday, as a German newspaper fuels speculation.

In an article Tuesday, Die Welt reported that fintech sources in Silicon Valley were echoing previous hints from investor James Altucher that the global giant could soon integrate Bitcoin as a payment option.

Altucher made the comments in a report last month, citing Thursday’s conference call as a D-Day moment for Amazon and Bitcoin.

Ahead of the call, which anyone can listen to, momentum that the rumors actually hold substance are mounting.

“Even if the Oct. 26 date is not set in stone, Bitcoin introduction should probably be expected soon,” Die Welt writes.

Upon questioning Amazon, a spokesman replied to the publication in a predictably generic fashion.

“(Amazon) opts to include new products or services only when these are useful for our customers - until that point, we do not engage in rough speculation.”

The company has faced years of lobbying and rumors of various descriptions regarding its Bitcoin relationship since competitor Overstock became a pioneering virtual currency adherent in 2013.

While multiple other midsize operators have since engaged with Bitcoin, Amazon’s participation would still be a first-of-its-kind move.

Several dedicated services already exist to offer purchases with Bitcoin from their websites through the intermediary of gift cards.

Can bitcoin be the world's currency?

If you mean Global currency this is happen from start bitcoin (you can send your bitcoin all over world)
if you mean will be only  currency (No paper money) paper money is strong enough to survive next 100 years .

if you mean Only Virtual Money yes most of altcoins will end next 20 years (except ETH and litecoin )

Bitcoin Gold (BTG) is due to fork from Bitcoin on block 491407 and all holders of Bitcoin can be credited an equal amount of BTG to their BTC. The new coin is being launched as a response to ASIC dominance.

Bitcoin Gold is the latest Bitcoin fork with the split occurring on Bitcoin block 491407. The coin is seen by the developers as a response to the ASIC driven monopoly of the main Bitcoin chain. As with the previous Bitcoin fork for Bitcoin Cash (BCH), as long as you are holding Bitcoin in your own software wallet when the split occurs you will automatically receive an equal amount in Bitcoin Gold (BTG).

Users with Bitcoin in hardware wallets or who have them on exchanges wishing to also receive BTG would need to check with their wallet manufacturer or exchange to find out if they plan to support Bitcoin Gold.

Bitcoin Hardware Wallets

In a recent blog post Trezor announced that although their devices support Bitcoin Gold, users won’t be able to do anything other than holding it. Users can choose to export their BTG, however, that is not a procedure they recommend. The coins will therefore not be available in the Trezor wallet.

Trezor’s main issue with BTG is that the code for it currently offers no replay protection, meaning that due to the nature of the chain split there is a potential to lose or transmit your Bitcoins rather than just your Bitcoin Gold. Their advice therefore would be to simply hold the BTG until replay protection is implemented by the BTG team.

The Trezor team states:

"Yes, TREZOR (the device) supports Bitcoin Gold. As previously mentioned, at the moment of the fork, if you have bitcoins on your TREZOR, you will also receive bitcoin gold on your TREZOR (both new and legacy accounts are supported in bitcoin gold). If you simply wish to hold BTC and BTG, there is no further action required from you."

Keepkey has announced that they too will be following the same measures as TREZOR by allowing the users of their hardware wallet to receive BTG but not immediately transact it. They advise users that if they require the immediate ability to move their BTG coins then they should, “relocate their Bitcoin prior to the October 25, 2017 deadline into a wallet that has confirmed support is already in place for this new asset.”

It has been a day of gains for bitcoin price in Thursday’s trading as price struck $5,848 following a sharp spike before midday (UTC).

Bitcoin prices slipped this week following the Bitcoin Gold hard fork, leading to a sell-off by traders to stake their bets on altcoins. However, a lack of support for the new cryptocurrency has seen traders flock back to bitcoin with prices recovering after a week-long slump which saw price strike a low of $5,365 (Bitfinex) yesterday.

On Thursday, bitcoin price has continued its climb to reach a high of $5,848 at press time, gaining $483 from its lowest level yesterday.

48  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-10-26] Singapore Central Bank Chief on: October 26, 2017, 12:53:40 PM
The chief of Singapore's central bank has indicated it will not regulate cryptocurrencies, but plans to stay watchful on the risks posed by the technology.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Ravi Menon, managing director of Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), said he currently sees "no basis for wanting to regulate cryptocurrencies," adding:

"It is a known fact that cryptocurrencies are quite often abused for illicit financing purposes. And so we do want to have anti money laundering controls, countering the financing of terrorism controls in place. So those requirements apply to activity around cryptocurrency rather than the cryptocurrency itself."

According to Menon, the central bank is working on to "formalize" rules for digital currency intermediaries like exchange operators in order to curb money laundering and other criminal activities.

His comments come weeks after Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Singapore's minister for MAS, stated that the monetary authority has been monitoring activities surrounding cryptocurrencies but also has "no intention" of regulating them.

Further, in the wake of the rapid growth of initial coin offerings (ICOs), MAS clarified in August that it will regulate sales of digital tokens in Singapore, given the fact that some issuances might fall under its definition of a security.

With some notable figures in finance critical of cryptocurrencies – including JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, who recently said bitcoin is a "fraud" – Menon told Bloomberg he will keep an "open mind on it."
