41  Bitcoin / Project Development / ModoBot Online Bitcoin Trading Platform [Main Topic] on: February 28, 2014, 10:28:22 PM
I am happy to announce the open public pre-release of Modobot.com, a simple web-based trading bot for Bitcoins. I designed the bot for me, namely someone that does not have sophisticated trading know-how, but would still like to participate in automated trading. Modobot uses a simple buy-low, sell-high strategy that is easy to understand. The bot can be configured to create automatic transactions based on margin, or can be configured to make one-off limit orders.

Sign-ups are free. Live accounts will be accepted on a rolling basis. Trading on live accounts will be limited to 1BTC per transaction. Membership will require a valid email for account recovery and validation. The support forum will require an email validation also. I apologize. If I do otherwise I am at the mercy of spammers.

Features:
- Sandbox mode for testing trading strategy and bot functionality.
- Calculator to check spreads.
- Record of starting balances in USD and BTC.
- Rolling status log.
- Bot transaction history.

How it works:
- A valid Bitstamp account is required.
- With a valid account, create an API key, and configure your account to allow Modobot to initiate transactions.
- Upload API key and credentials to Modobot.com.
- Configure bot for live trading.
- A background process periodically grabs data from Bitstamp and processes each of the bots.

Security:
- Modobot does not store member passwords.
- Bitstamp Api credentials are hashed on disk.
- Api access can be controlled by IP address, so only the Modobot server can access the account.
- No data on the Modobot site can be used to leverage unlimited access to your Bitstamp account.

Privacy
- Modobot does not store any personally identifiable information. There is some logging in place for security purposes.
- Emails addresses are stored for account recovery purposes, and for any site related announcements.

Unfortunately I am unable to spin off time for this project, but I wish you the best of luck. I hope you can find someone that will fit your budget.

I used to work for a company that captured video content via satellite, encrypted it, stored it, and then sent it out on demand in a variety of formats. At current BTC prices, your budget is not adequate. The picture shows a process, but not how you expect that process to happen.

How does the video get on the system to be encrypted?
Will there be multiple videos encrypted at once?
Will there be frequent videos?
How will the operator interact with the system in order to do the encryption? On-site, or remote? Will the app need a snazzy GUI, or can it run from the command line?
How will the content get from the system on which it is encrypted, to where it will be ultimately stored?
How will that content be flushed from storage?
Who has control of the machines in this process?
How will end users retrieve the data? Web page, command line?

Those are just a few questions off of the top of my head, but you are going to have a bad experience if you depend on hiring a developer to figure that all out for you, and it is going to cost considerably more. You may be better off stating your budget and asking if it is even possible within that budget.

Some new updates this week.

1. Added functionality to support fixed transactions, or limit orders. Once the limit order is triggered, no more orders will be triggered until the configuration is reset by the operator.
2. Added an unofficial-official site privacy policy.
3. Modobot is open to limited live trading (1฿ limit for for free accounts). In order to activate your bot for live trades, you must sign up for an account on the support forum and respond to the Bot Activation Request thread there. Until glitches have been worked out, the number of live accounts will be limited.

As far as I know, solo mining incurs a very small bandwidth hit. There are some other threads here that might help.

Not that it is any of my business what you do, but I think your life experience shows what happens when you try to take advantage of your employer.

I have been doing full stack development with PHP and various databases. Most recently I have been focused on front end development. My signature has a link to my current project.

That is one of the words I hear in my head in the voice of a Dalek. Anyway, for our International friends, the Flinstones is a US cartoon about a prehistoric family. They propel their automobiles by using their feet.

I have no idea how that relates to the rest of jongameson's observation though.

I've got a little spare time I might want to fill. What do you need?

Would you share what you did so that the next person that has a similar problem will know?
51  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What is happening with Bitstamp- re flash problem on: February 09, 2014, 03:56:34 PM
I have two thoughts, and hopefully someone else will have other ideas. I think the most likely issue is that something with Flash is corrupted, or is just not happy with Bitstamp for whatever reason. That is why the problem would manifest on both browsers. Remove and reinstalling might fix that.

The thing that bothers me a little is that your Flash seems to work for other sites. If it were me, I would be inclined to run a malware scan also. I don't think it unreasonable to consider the possibility that some site specific malware might be causing issues.

Unless you are using a commercial grade printer with hard drive in it, there will not be a record. In a typical home printer, memory is flushed as soon as the power is shut off. Basically, any $30 off-the-shelf printer will suffice. This may be useful to you.
53  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What is happening with Bitstamp- re flash problem on: February 09, 2014, 02:27:59 PM
I see it.

I am a little confused why you cannot log in though. I can disable Flash in my browser, and the site works just fine, with the exception of the charts. I have to wonder if maybe your copy of Flash is just conflicting with something.

If you are so inclined, try adding the Flash Block extension to Firefox, and see if the Bitstamp page starts working again.
54  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help - importing private key - broke it on: February 09, 2014, 02:04:02 PM
I took a peek at the source code. The error maps back to an "Unspecified problem with the wallet", so yes, it looks like there may be a problem with your wallet. Have you checked the debug log?

Also, a 'Recover' function available in the source, but I am not having much luck in determining whether there is a means to invoke that from the command line.

@JP, I hate submitting one-line posts, but thanks for sharing that.

What browser are you using, and do you have a flash blocker enabled? Have you tried another browser? Did you go ahead and try to update your flash player anyway?

I am having a bit of mental discord. Doesn't having an affiliate link in one's post explicitly demonstrate that there is indeed a relationship?  Huh
58  Economy / Service Announcements / [Ann] Modobot.com Public Beta on: February 08, 2014, 10:34:46 PM

Modobot.com is a web-based automated trading platform for digital currencies. The public Beta is using the Bitstamp API. There is no software to download, and Bots can run twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. Modobot uses a basic feature set to employ a simple buy-low/sell-high strategy. Accounts are free, and include sandbox mode and a basic calculator to assist in determining spreads. Bitstamp accounts are not required for sandbox mode.

Several measures have been put in place to help protect accounts. Site passwords are not stored in the database. Api keys are encrypted in the database. In the event that the site is compromised, the keys cannot be used to directly withdraw funds from your Bitstamp account.

Testing is ongoing, and there are likely to be a couple of rough patches. Live trading is available for activated accounts, but has not been thoroughly tested. Documentation and support can be found here.

59  Economy / Services / Re: [Announcement] modobot.com - a web-based, ATP for digital currencies. on: October 21, 2013, 02:52:11 PM
Would you mind terribly if I gave a description here, and then follow up privately with any clarifications? I'm an engineer, and not much of a publicist, so this is a good excuse to sharpen my prose. Smiley

Modobot.com is a web-based, automated platform for digital currencies. Right now, the only currency is Bitcoin, and the platform utilizes the Bitstamp API. Using a web-based platform allows bots to run 24-7, and frees the operator from the care and feeding of their bot. In other words, no software to download, or keep patched. It also allows for multiple bots to run against multiple currencies and and exchanges at the same time, and all are accessible via web browser anywhere.

The trading logic for this iteration is very simple; buy low and sell high, with some minor enhancements to prevent transactions when the market conditions are wrong. For instance, not selling while the price is still increasing. Future versions will include more sophisticated trading logic, and enhanced functionality.

Bots are going to be subscription/fee based. There will likely be a free simple version for everyone, but with a trading limit of 1BTC; a mid-level version with maybe a 25BTC limit, and a version for unlimited trading. The mid and top level versions will have some nominal entry fee, but will also have access to other tools, including a 'Speed Sim' back-testing tool, and mobile-based widgets to allow operators to monitor bots when not in front of a PC, plus the source code for a stand-alone bot. The site will collect a .03% - .05% transaction fee, based on trade level.

Most development at this point has been going into securing the back-end and database. The site is not yet set up for SSL; that will happen once we start adding active bots.

If I can clarify anything else, please let me know.

A lot of things have happened since our last update. Our production server is up and running, and alpha-testing is proceeding. We still plan hitting the November 1st target date for a limited beta roll out, with a full public roll-out sometime before the end of the year. We added spread calculator for you to try out, a standard feature of our bots.

We hope you will come take a look.
