42  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin price manipulated by Wall Street? on: January 25, 2018, 07:22:43 AM
I dunno- there was a big bitcoin conference in switzerland last week same time as the one in florida- only billionaires attended- not a lot of press about it.....makes me wonder.....http://www.trustnodes.com/2018/01/19/billionaires-meet-blockchain-entrepreneurs-switzerland

45  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Bitcoin important on: January 20, 2018, 12:13:03 AM
It's important because it gives freedom and opportunity to those who don't have access to conventional banks (a ton of people)
46  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has Bitcoin already hit the mainstream? on: January 20, 2018, 12:11:16 AM
Not yet....don't think it counts as "mainstream" until a lot of people start using it-
47  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin consuming too much Electricity. on: January 14, 2018, 06:41:22 PM
Does anyone know where the energy comes from for giant mining farms in places such as China and Mongolia? China is planning on opening mining farms in Canada now - at least Canada as cleaner energy (water).  I heard something about btc and energy on NPR radio show science friday recently, and their expert said a bitcoin transaction takes 5000 times more energy to process than one visa transaction. Sad
It definitely  seems to be a problem. I hope people can adopt sustainable methods to mine- seems difficult :/
48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Coinbase and Decentralization? on: January 13, 2018, 07:09:21 PM

"What "tracking tokens" is Coinbase selling?
Please don;t start with the whole bitbet drama....that was the wallet not the exchange."

"And the whole thing is a mess that makes no sense.
Coinbase is a platform that is offering services.
Bitcoin is a currency that Coinbase offers services for (purchase and sell)."

"Decentralization does not work when fiat is involved.
And after all, looking back the news from the last decentralized exchange aren't that nice."
[/quote]

Coinbase  tracks where you send bitcoin to and from- if they don't like it they close your account- I'm not talking about sending from darknet sites or anything criminal or nefarious-  I don't know why they do it....but it is control- That does not sit right with me at all. I think they are trying to become like a world bank for crypto. They are up to bad things- watch out
49  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Thoughts on Coinbase and Decentralization? on: January 12, 2018, 10:58:27 PM
Hi everyone,

I'm just curious what your thoughts are about Coinbase and decentralization.  Coinbase often emphasizes that they love decentralization, but why do they sell tracking tokens instead of bitcoin? Tongue I am being serious.
Thanks Smiley

51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Wallet for altcoins on: December 30, 2017, 06:53:33 PM
frankly the official wallet is the best choice to use. if only to trade, I think the wallet of the exchange is secure. but if you want to hold for a long time, I think the official wallet is the best and safest option.

Exchange is meant for trading and not for storing your coins but if you still wanna take the risk then go for it but it will doesn't protect your coins when it gets hack and there's no turning back.
Use hardware wallet for your huge amount of coins while use online wallets that let's you hold some seeds or private key, in this way you're the only one who'll access it.

Second this.....many have lost $$$$$$$ keeping coins on an exchange- don't do that

53  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your biggest regret about bitcoin on: December 07, 2017, 11:41:38 PM
I regret not holding (was $250 when I got into it) -and I regret not learning the technical aspects sooner- also wish I would have encouraged more people to invest early on :p

Great Topic!  I am also very curious.  I am in the usa and I just got a bitpay card.  I haven't set it up yet.  I hope to try it out grocery shopping, paying bills etc.  There is a coinbase one "the shift card" that I decided against trying (I con't like coinbase).  Apparently I can't get xapo being in the usa but would to try some others.  I'll check back after I use the bitpay one.  Smiley
