I'm in.

If I can afford 1 bitcoin for a ticket to the "When-bitcoin-reaches 1000" party in Frankfurt, I can afford this.   Smiley
43  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [LEAKED] Private Bitcoin Foundation Discussions On Blacklisting, more (ZIP dump) on: November 15, 2013, 04:37:01 PM
I agree with ffssixtynine that while this might be a very bad idea, the discussion should not be off-limits. The only way to advance a controversial subject area, and hopefully come to a satisfactory resolution, is to discuss it openly and explore all angles. I believe when rehearsing for an adversarial encounter such as in a court of law, it is common for key players to role-play different sides, thereby building a greater appreciation of the predicament they are in.

That said, I can think of many reasons why redlisting and warning recipients of suspect coins is a terrible idea. Ironically, there may be legal and political reasons why this proposal is unacceptable. Here's a few:

- We all know a large percentage of our bank notes are tainted with illicit substances. This is a consequence of the high prevalence of drug crime which many law-abiding citizens think of as something unconnected to their world and mostly the domain of TV shows. I'm not so sure the governments of the world want their citizens who have just adopted BTC to be constantly reminded their incoming coins have a suspect history connected to the War on Drugs.

- A brick and mortar business operating in a high crime area will receive redlisted coins more frequently than those based in more genteel parts. If a business suffers reputational damage as a result, it may very well break EU competition rules. In the eyes of the EU Commission, this business may be victim of an unfair advantage held by business in lower-crime locales or based in countries where local laws are less strict.

- Unless you have ignored the news for the last few years, you cannot have missed the many crimes committed by banks, financial institutions and even politicians that are often so egregious as to go unpunished. The excuse is typically that prosecution would result in systemic damage that cannot be absorbed, a twist on the TBTF logic. Well, what is good for the goose is good the gander. If these entities are drawn to BTC and appreciate its benefits over traditional fiat, will they be happy with redlisted coins moseying through their wallets? As Father Ted once said: "That money was just resting in my account!"

I could always add more employees to the payroll...
I say crack on with what you have been doing to date... building a serious Bitcoin company that sets an example to others on how it should be done. I have full confidence in Neo's approach to carving a niche in this new economy.
45  Economy / Securities / Re: [IPVO] [Multiple Exchanges] Neo & Bee - LMB Holdings on: November 08, 2013, 11:47:53 AM
If bitcoin continues at this rate and goes to $500-$1000 before neobee opens, this could cause IPO dividend payback to take forever. Since they would need multitudes more fiat coming in to cover the 0035/share. Is there any danger to the business in this case?

I would be willing to sacrifice/lower this part because with current rates we're looking at several millions of $ in dividends, which is not the best plan for a startup.

I'm not keen on this idea. Ignoring for the moment this would entail retrospective changes to the IPO conditions we all used when deciding whether to invest or pass, this would result in a lower share price in addition to lower dividends you are proposing. True, if you look at everything through a fiat lens, that may not seem so bad, but I and many investors no longer think in fiat terms. We elected to buy shares in a Bitcoin company with BTC and expect to see our income and gains in BTC.

The recent dramatic appreciation of BTCUSD may cause plenty of headaches for Bitcoin startups, but also, if played wisely, opens up new and exciting opportunities. I trust Neo to grasp these and turn them to all our advantage... I see no reason why the 0.0035 cannot be met.

In short, when I invested in Neo, I doubled down on the Bitcoin economy and if it pays off, as I expect it will, I don't want to be rewarded in fiat.

looks like this wall is actually falling pretty fast, time to get back to speculating here

The price will jump to at least .0035 today, but this time there won't be a dirty announcement to push it back down.
Therefore I think holding it long is the best way to go, as it will be gradually climbing up until new income is established..

What I have learned is to never underestimate the ability of Kenneth to make his stock price go down.

In any case, looks like both long term investors and speculators should make a profit either today or tomorrow.

Time to get back to the study guides, more like. You will be burned soon, oh how I wil FMFAO.

Well If I get burned then you get burned as well since we are both holding the same stock, also I don't know what FMFAO means.

You will get burned, Floates. The first rule of speculation is you don't... well, you'll find out.

Nice job eating away that wall, guys.  If Ken needs more money he should consider selling some of his own assets because I think we've done our part..

lol, that's funny.

Vbs, Streets 2.0 and the others: great job!

The next barrier to overcome will probably be the convertion of Bitcoin -> USD. One of the reasons (besides expenses) for the issuing of the last 500k shares was a falling BTC/USD price and KS last calculation was done with 93.30, but he also mentioned he has a puffer now.

Such huge amounts create a wide spread, potentially move the market and there is the probability, that KS gets goxed. Furthermore and this is very important as well: there are daily and monthly withdrawal limits and large amounts need additional verification, i.e. notarized documents.

I do a lot of cross exchange Arb with btc and have a lot of code with the major exchanges to break up iceberg orders . Ken I'd be more than willing to help you spread out the orderflow into USD to remove market impact.  For the record I'm an algorithmic trader in equities, BTC is just a hobby, I also am a large shareholder and want to see this all work out.

+1

So what is the solution? These are early days in Bitcoin. We don't have currency brokers or any of the exotic derivatives that could help in this situation. What's a seller to do? Drip feed bids asks into the market?

With the box symbol I was aiming for an abstract representation of VMC's product, the whole idea of adding or slotting in extra hashing cards. Getting rid of the "E" whilst not overcrowding the symbol is a nightmare though, although this version is certainly an improvement over my first rough design:

The Fast Hash miners are expandable via boards. What about a vertical stack of thin box-type layers as a symbol?

As we all know, Design is a process. Step 1 just gets you started - it need not be remotely related to the final outcome.

Unrelated - we have 4 votes now for activemining on btc-tc, I think we only need one more for approval

I think we are in the lull before the storm. When the new ACTIVEMINING asset goes live on btct.co and the auto AMC-PT tender occurs *and* Ken completes selling into the market, the price will spike again and probably find support ~ 0.004.

There is some truth in that as long as people are confident they won't be undermined and on how future share issues will be run.

This hiccup will be over soon and forgotten. Stage 1 is essentially complete, all eyes should be on the next stage for ActM: ramping hashing and collecting pre-sales. I'd guess we will be looking at $5 million dollars pre-sales soon.

Looks like we're going to start seeing AMC everywhere

Auction ended. Final result:
Slots BTC/Slot Person
1 8.75 digitalmagus
6 8.25 kslaughter

Btw Ken have you considered a reddit advert?

I'm not too sure how great they are in terms of impressions - sales but I know there is an active Bitcoin following there too

I think the amount of slots ken bought is a bit of a waste. With just 2 or 3 slots everyone on the forum would see something about ActiveMining.

Reddit advertising is a good idea. The ads there target it to specific subreddits and I don't think it would cost that much to advertise on r/bitcoin and r/bitcoinmining. I typically block most ads, but I have found a few interesting things from the ones r/bitcoin.

I think it would be wise to watch the web traffic and sales generated before passing judgement on the advertising strategy.

Also there are many subjective and often subconscious decisions made before someone makes a purchase after seeing some ads. You can assume 2-3 slots would do the job of 6, but you have no way to know unless you test this.

Re: lolstate - all I can say is that part of the point of the board is to instill confidence. Juvenile behaviour and taking flame bait is absolutely against this. So lolstate would have to not post the stuff he posted yesterday for example, as supportive as he clearly is. Being a board member is a serious job and comes with significant responsibilities. It is not something you do because you like ActiveMiner, and you can still be helpful and supportive without being on a board, yet without the responsibility.

I don't think the lolstate persona would be suitable for the board. I second all the others, however.
