Maybe close this thread, eliminating from title the ticker and start a new one linking to this and including all the info since algo change, pools, algo, wallet, exchanges, how to swap the coins and so on, could be a good idea too.

Regarding the coin swap, something short like this would probably do the trick. (Dev, feel free to use / edit / correct as needed.) EQT switched to a new algorithm on August 26th 2017. If you purchased EQT before August 26th 2017, then you might need to: 1) Manually swap your old EQT coins for new EQT coins 2) Download and begin using the new EQT wallet What should you do?If your EQT coins were held at CoinExchange.io on August 26th 2017, then your old coins have already been automatically swapped for the new coins. Simply download and install the new EQT wallet from https://github.com/equitrader/Equitrade/blob/master/equitrader-win.zip and you’ll be able to store, send, and stake your new EQT. If you purchased EQT from CoinExchange.io (or any other exchanges) after August 26th 2017, then you have purchased the new EQT coins. Simply download and install the new EQT wallet from https://github.com/equitrader/Equitrade/blob/master/equitrader-win.zip and you’ll be able to store, send, and stake your new EQT. If you purchased EQT prior to August 26th 2017, and if your coins were not held at CoinExchange.io on August 26th 2017, then you must manually swap your old EQT for new EQT. What I miss most is a roadmap.
Without a roadmap this project will not go anywhere I think.
Brainstorm ideas, take the promissing ones, make a (realistic) roadmap and work on it.
Then maybe this coin has a future.

If you bought on coinexchange you are fine.
The chain already swapped to X11.
There's no need for you to manually swap.
In case you want to transfer your coins to a wallet, get the new X11 - wallet.

Just reposting here from Telegram if somebody needs it for compiling and staking on a debian system (or similar): I took the time to compile a list of commands to get a debian based system to stake eqt from the ground up. I built the list while testing on a minimal fresh debian stretch netinst system. But I only did this until the compilation. All commands after I copied together from other running systems of mime. After i send the coins on coinexchange.io and the swap happens, can i send my EQT back to my address? or do i have to create a new desktop wallet.dat with new addresses?

Do you mean the new chain will have a "maximum" of 10 million? ... I take it Cryptopia doesn't want to participate in the swap?
10 million is the minimum supply . After swaps done by coinexchange and manual swaps are completed we would burn the extra supply which has not been claimed out of 10 Million coins after the close of manual swap window . Please move your coins from wallets and other exchanges to coinexchange for swaps . Nice, some more coins to be burned. |

1) Difficulty Re-Target and Soft Fork .
We would soon be conducting a soft fork to fix the difficulty re-target as the current blockchain is going through difficulty issues which is making mining difficulty and is resulting in the halt of the blockchain . This is a quick fix to solve the current problem before we go for swaps .
Mining pools would have to update the source code and run the nodes .
2) POW + POS Algorithm
We have decided to go for POW + POS Hybrid due the reason that it is best of the both world . Miners can mine EQT and support the network whereas Investors can stake EQT in their wallet instead of the coins sitting ideal with no use whatsoever. 8 MB Block would make the blockchain scale able in future . PoS would add more energy efficiency benefits, the amount of electricity needed to process the blockchain would be greatly reduced. Also the probability of 51% attack will be decreased because it means having a vested stake "balance" within the network so attacking the network would not be in the users best interest since they will have to own 51% of the network to attack it.Since the security properties of PoS are not based on the extrinsic cost of validating the chain, the above attack is out of scope and we are free to shard/scale the network in a more traditional way which would be beneficial for EQT blockchain .
3) New Blockchain Release
After difficulty re-target is solved we would work with novaexchange for swapping EQT coins ( Right now due to overwhelming pressure we are not able to contact them but we would do as fast as possible )
Swap window would remain open for 10 days where old EQT coins would be exchange with new EQT coins .
Right now due to the policy followed by cryptopia regarding swaps it is best to keep the coins off exchange , please withdraw after the soft fork has been completed .
New Blockchain release would be the permanent solution to the current problems faced by the EQT Block chain , all decisions are made keeping in mind the best interests of the community who have put faith in Equi Trader Project .
Could you also get in contact with coinexchange and make sure that withdrawals are possible before the for? I initially bought my EQT there at the very beginning and can't send my coins to the wallet as the wallet is in maintenance. Support couldn't say how long though. Thanks |
