401  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Looking for any card to print and write bitcoin wallet seed phrase on: November 07, 2017, 09:57:24 PM
I made copies of the sheet that came with my Nano S.

I'm looking into steganographic solutions for storing the written seed words but the problem is they have to be computer generated so I would have to set up a secure PC just to be safe.

The Corsair HX1200 can power 4 Vegas but it is rather expensive.

1000w is more than enough to power 4 Vega 56. It is about 690w for my 4x Vega 56 rig on the wall. The vega 64 would use a little bit more but not much.

The problem is the number of 8 pin cables.  I haven't found a PC PSU under 1200W that can supply 8 8 pin cables.  The Corsair HX1200 is the lowest one I can find.  So it's time to get into server power supplies.
403  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]  Parity 1.8 supports $MUSIC officially! 🎸🎸 on: November 07, 2017, 09:31:33 PM
Note: At this point, sending or mining Musicoins to exchanges or web wallet is generally not advised. Please use our desktop client for all incoming and outgoing transactions. Thank you.

I can understand the mining part but sending to exchanges?  Why?

Transactions seem slow this morning, I've had a receive in the pool for 40 minutes with 0 confirms so far.

I have 2 580s, 3 570s, and one Vega 56

[Hash Rate Avg: 5682.5 H/s]
  757.9 H/s GPU0
  814.6 H/s GPU1
  740.5 H/s GPU2
  660.7 H/s GPU3
  757.7 H/s GPU4
  1951.1 H/s GPU5

GPU3 is a new 570 that I haven't tuned yet.  I'm running Anorak's power saving BIOS on all RXs because I was dual mining ETH and DCR.  I may switch to the regular BIOS if I can gain 5-10% more hash.

I love the Z270 boards, 7 PCIe slots with 2 M.2 slots.  I don't run more than 7 GPUs in one rig anyway (at least so far).

yeah and with the power and reset switch on the back you can comnect it to srr or other rig resetting tools and
still have manual control of the boards, best mining board for me atm
I would be fine with 7 vega , six is a non starter , have you tried 7 vegas on these?

Not yet, I just got my first Vega 56 last week.  It will be awhile before I get a full rig of them.  I'm still trying to decide how I'm going to manage power.  It's complicated by the fact that you need both 8 pins for each card.  I'll probably have to start using the HP server PSUs with breakout boards.

so, is it worth to waste the time to set it up on the flawlessly working 6 Vega 64 XMR-STAK rig ? The only real improvement I see while running it on 1 Vega test rig are the temps in the console (which I definitely like a lot tbh ).

I've been enjoying Cast's nicehash support these last few days. The premium there lately over straight xmr mining has been well worth it.

NiceHash has been killing it since Thursday/Friday last week.  Profit was starting to drop over the weekend but it's picking up again.  I hope it stays like this for weeks and months.

I still don't understand why this is happening, are people overpaying on their mining orders through NiceHash?
410  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin arbitrage on GitHub: ~2% monthly return, market-neutral long/short on: November 07, 2017, 03:45:06 AM
2% per month its nothing, lot of people has 4-5K to invest,  2% per month will bring them nothing, sorry but your bot is useless

Agreed, 2% monthly in crypto markets is horrible.  Bitcoin is up 1000% in the last year lol

That said, the 2% figure was specified in 2015, a lot has changed since then.  Is anything using this bot now?
411  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SUMO] SUMOKOIN - 🔏 Digital Cash For High-Confidential Transactions 🔏 on: November 07, 2017, 12:35:27 AM
I really want to buy some sumo because I like everything about this coin...except..the wallet. I'm just an inept non techie and I like things simple. I run windows 7 because I hate 10. Yes..I can get to the command prompt and type a bunch of stuff in there but it seems a bit complex. I ran the miner to check it out and that was really nice..but I quit after realizing my crummy hashrate of 48hs wasn't squat. I know I can get some sumo on cryptonia..but how do they store it? Seems to me I have to create a wallet within the cli and then go in there and do a bunch of fancy stuff every time I want to check..or transfer..or receive? Is there a simpler way to actually "manage" transactions for this coin? I think it has great potential and is at a good price now. Thanks!

Hi there, you don't have to use the cli-wallet there's also a nice GUI version which you can easily download from http://sumokoin.org
Then you create a wallet, make sure you write down your mnemonic seed in case you need to restore your wallet later. Then buy some bitcoin on any btc-fiat exchange site and transfer it to Cryptopia. After the btc transaction gets enough confirmations on the blockchain you'll be ready to make a buy order for SUMO. Smiley

Thanks..downloaded it and it looks pretty straightforward. Question is..does this have to sync up every time you use it or can you do transactions and then wait for it to sync later? All I really care about is transactions going in and out smoothly and not getting lost in a blockchain black hole until the sync is complete. Seems like it takes quite a while to sync so I'm wondering if it's usable during the sync?

After installation you have to wait for the initial sync.  In the future it shouldn't take that long to sync unless you haven't opened the wallet in a long, long, time.  It appears you can't do anything while syncing though.

I'm using the GUI wallet, works great.  It even has an address book and a notes field for putting notes on transactions.

I wish Sumo was on Bittrex but I do have a Cryptopia account.  Sumo should have a nice pop if and when it gets added to more exchanges.  It may go nowhere but I think it's worth investing a small amount in case of future mooning.
413  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SUMO] SUMOKOIN - 🔏 Digital Cash For High-Confidential Transactions 🔏 on: November 06, 2017, 09:08:53 PM
SUMO down big today when most alts are up big.  I just started mining it to make sure my rigs are set up properly for it.  I'd like to HODL a few thousand in case it takes off at some point (another MONA).

I don't like that it takes over four hours for mined blocks to mature, that is extreme.

Actually I am not well informed about "Monacoin". Anybody please inform me. Thanks.

This is the only Japanese altcoin. Japan is the only country giving digital currencies a legal status as JPY

It's so funny when people talk about some coin being country specific.  One of the tenets of cryptocurrencies is that they are borderless.   I'll bet that 99% of businesses in Japan that accept Mona also accept, at the minimum, Bitcoin.  And outside of Japan probably no one accepts Mona.

The more country specific a coin is the less chance it has of going up in value.

What PSU(s) are you using on your 8 card Vega rigs?

2 pcs CORSAIR HX1200 for every 8 VEGA cards.

I have 2 pcs of EVGA Power Supply SuperNOVA 1600 P2, 1600W, 80 PLUS Platinum for 10x vega64, and it´s a more than enough. PSU working max on 60% and this is in the range where has the best efficiency.
[/quote]

That PSU only has 9 8 pin VGA power connectors, right?  Where are you powering your tenth Vega from?
416  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Server power supplies - 6 pin to 6+2 power cables on: November 05, 2017, 07:58:56 PM
So all of these breakout boards I've seen such as what Parallel Miner sells use 6 pin to 6+2 power cables.  PC power supplies have true 8 pin to 6+2 power cables.  Is 6 pin output a concern for high power cards like the Vegas?  I assume it's ok but there must be a reason PC PSUs provide 8 pin output instead of 6.
417  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates? on: November 05, 2017, 07:21:03 PM
Hey guys,

I am thinking of getting 3x Vega 56 for my current rig.
I have some questions:
Will they play nicely with my 2x570(29.5MH/s) + 1x970(17MH/s)?
PSU1: RM650
PSU2: Thermaltake 850W
CPU: 4670k
RAM: 16GB
Miner: Claymore 10 for ETH

Also a big thanks to the community for all these helpful info.

I am running 1 Vega 56 with 3 570s and 2 580s and 1 1060.    I would expect 3 to be ok.  The biggest problem with the Vegas is it requires both 8 pin power cables.  That really complicates power supply selection.   Time to get into server power supplies I guess.
418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates? on: November 05, 2017, 01:34:46 AM
Can Vega 56 run on just one 8 pin power or does it require both?
419  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates? on: November 04, 2017, 04:16:27 PM
i saw someone said if XMR tanks not a lot of value. but at a price of 400 for a Vega 56 now and reports of 470 on equihash and like high 30's and low 40's on eth it sounds like you'd still do pretty good on other coins. No?

There are other CryptoNight coins besides XMR that are also paying well so hopefully CryptoNight will be very profitable for a long time.  But yes, the Vegas are doing ok with ETH and others too so now that the prices on Vegas are reasonable I think they are a good deal now.  I am buying Vegas from here on out instead of RXs.  I may even sell my GTX 1070 to fund another Vega but I'm waiting to see how profitable Bitcoin Gold will be.

Yeah Amazon charging tax sometimes now is making them much less competitive for some things.  And their prices really aren't that great sometimes for some things.  I don't order anything computer-related from Amazon without checking Newegg first.
