It's been a few days, I think it's about time I gave an update. I made an album explaining everything which you can check out here: http://imgur.com/a/aK8qI#0 so as to not burden you all with a giant wall of text and pictures.

Any feedback on the ideas proposed in the album would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for the album. I still think this is a great idea and you could start a Bitcoinstarter project: https://bitcoinstarter.com/.

FYI my MinePeon miner died at 00:00 again last night.  I fixed it this morning by stopping and starting cgminer.

Unfortunately, same here. Last night 00:00, dead. Had to restart the pi this morning.
Please try to "kill a cat" and you'll see the problem is solved... But I can't do any more comments or I'm risking to be slapped again by Neil...

See my comment, regarding this problem, in this thread (and Neil's answer): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=137934.msg2732667#msg2732667

...
Kano,

Did you get your LCD display yet? I just got mine yesterday, and already hacked up a quick script to display data from the cgminer API.

I was wondering if you completed your script yet, or have added support in cgminer? I'm sure it has more functionality than my simple attempt. lol

BTW, I got the LCD with the v1.3 firmware.  Unfortunately that version does not seem to allow absolute positioning on the display. I guess the v1.4 firmware model is the one to get, if it can be found.

As far as there being a standard interface for these type devices, I haven't seen one. It would be nice...
Yes I got it.
I then decided to try using my miner.php as an include so it would be a small amount of php code based on what is already done
I then found that php doesn't support direct usb (there is a git addon/project that has it, but I want to avoid adding external code)
I don't like python, so I stopped there, to wait til I have more time.
For now, it sits next to me running clock.py showing me the time Tongue
I am still running around in circles looking at these silly USB1.1 mining devices in cgminer, so the direct code will have to wait a little longer.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm not a big python fan either. lol! But I hacked together a little python script that displays a few basic cgminer stats. Sorta arbitrary choices based on what I though was most important to display and the limited space to display it.

If there is any interest, I'll clean it up and throw it up on github as an open source app. I do need to add code to display an error if all devices stop hashing. (I already show an error if cgminer doesn't respond "alive" on status, or if there's a network connection.) I know I overlooked it, but what gcminer API should I look at to find out if hashing devices have failed to stopped?

I'm including a screen shot of it running on my Pi mining with one Block Erupter. Let me know if anyone wants this up on github.

...

I also received my new "USB 2.8" TFT LCD module LCD". I hope that one day, MinePeon will interact with this display. But with this comment, I'm NOT ASKING ANYTHING to Neil, or he will ban me for life.

Pois...

Ok, USB Gizmos = USB Block Erupters  Grin

My HUB's: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290900607972 (PSU 5Volts, 2,5Amp) and http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230976716952 (PSU 5Volts, 1,0Amp, don't use this PSU)

My PSU's for the HUB's & RPI: Velleman PSS0530 - http://www.velleman.eu/products/view/?country=es&lang=en&id=376248 - 5Volts, 3,0Amp.
414  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Are block erupter suppose to get too hot to touch? on: July 23, 2013, 02:00:07 PM
Use also a heatsink glued on the ASIC chip.

Where can you get these heatsinks and (thermal?) glue?

I bought a Raspberry Pi heatsink kit, that includes a 6x8mm and a 8x8mm heatsinks, both good for the USB Block Erupter ASIC chip.

The kit includes the thermal tape needed to "glue" the heatsink to the ASIC chip.

I spoke with the seller about this USB Gizmo and he is trying to have a selling of a 6x6mm heatsink. I'm still waiting for news from him.

Meanwhile, this is the link to the eBay selling kit if you would like to buy it, tlr: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121059845105?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

If anyone needs a heatsink for the USB Block Erupter's ASICs, the guy who sold me several Raspberry Pi heatsink kits, is now selling only the heatsink 8x8x6 mm, good for the BE100 chip:

416  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Hub for pi and block eruptors Help on: July 23, 2013, 07:09:19 AM
Hi I have been reading a few threads but cant work out which is the best hub to buy? Does anyone have a link to one on ebay please? I have 12 block eruptors so would like to use at least 10 (might sell 2 depending on what hub I get).

I have a hub with 4 ports and I got 2 block eruptors running last night. I then plugged 10 into my ac power suplied 10 port hub and it kept spitting back errors all night. does this mean I have got the wrong hub?

Also one more question please. Is there a maximum amount of eruptors you can connect to a raspberry pi? How do you do this? Do you just have one hub feeding many all with powerr suplies?

Greetings.
I have 12 USB Block Erupters connected to the Raspberry Pi, via 3 HUB's, each with a 5volt/3amp PSU.

Your problem must be with the power supply of your HUB, as each USB Block Erupter requires half ampere. So, 10 USB Block Erupters would need a minimum of 5 amperes! And don't forget the HUB still needs energy for itself and also for the RPI...

419  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] FPGA's at cheep prices on: July 22, 2013, 02:18:18 PM
Well, I'm convinced ASIC's are heavily involved now and looking to acquire cheep FPGA's.

I am looking to pay 2 BTC per 1Ghs MIXIMUM!

If anyone wants out with their equipment hit me a pm and I will work something out.

This listing is not ment to mock or undermine anything, Just being realistic with mining ROI's

EDIT - OH I am in the uk. I have some trust here, I still prefer to use escrow, Unless you feel you can trust me enough to send first.
MIXIMUM is the middle between Maximum and Minimum?
420  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: ASIC and FPGA miners, which pool did you pick ? on: July 21, 2013, 05:59:11 PM
Hello,

Please only vote if you are an ASIC or FGPA miner.
If you chose "Other", specify the pool you are using.

Thanks.
I voted for BTCGuild (pplns) but I'm also using triplemining.com. I'm mining with 12 x USB Block Erupters.
