401  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do Online Gambling Streamers Ever Get Addicted to Gambling? on: August 07, 2022, 03:24:22 PM
-skip- I can't help but wonder if online gambling streamers ever get addicted to gambling. What do you think? And can the viewers who watch these streams tell if the streamer is addicted to gambling by observing some physical symptoms such as pale skin, weight gain/loss, acne and dark circles under the eyes?2

I think that everything is individual. There are streamers who are engaged only in advertising and, in fact, play for fake money (their income is casino advertising), and there are those who love gambling and streaming for them, this is another income channel to satisfy their passion for gambling. Personally, I have seen streamers whose honesty I have no doubt with an obvious addiction to gambling. They were losing significant money and looked really upset, unlike the commercial streamers.
402  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling winnings tax in the USA on: August 07, 2022, 02:53:44 PM
so recently I saw a news circling around the internet regarding someone from the US winning the lottery jackpot worth $1.28Billion, but then several days later, I saw this article. apparently the winner of the Lotto jackpot will only get $433.7M after the total amount of winnings is taxed. it's ridiculous how the government got more money from the lotto jackpot than the actual winner. I know that $433.7 million is still a lot of money but it is still disheartening how $800 million was taken away due to tax.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/robertwood/2022/07/30/winning-128-billion-lottery-ticket--gets-4337-million-after-tax/?sh=5582ea32028d

This tax looks like a clear fraud. I wish I could see at least one person ready to justify this. This raises the question - if we (ordinary people) elect our representatives to power, then how is it that the laws in force work against us? It seems to me that if democracy worked, we would never see such absurd news.
403  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: August 06, 2022, 01:37:12 PM
Final score 2-2 not bad for a start at least Liverpool's mainstay players each scored a goal  but of course Fulham in the spotlight
The situation is unpredictable yesterday Liverpool won against a strong team and now it's a draw against a weaker team
The manager can evaluate from the result of this match.

For Liverpool, this is a disaster and a big blow to the championship ambitions at the very beginning of the season. It is quite difficult to maintain confidence and good mood when after the first round you are in the position of catching up.
By the way, in the next round, Crystal Palace are playing away with Liverpool and are likely to be defeated - it's hard to envy such a start of the season.
404  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion] Should Gambling be Banned? on: August 06, 2022, 01:14:40 PM
The thing is that even if gambling is banned in any country there will still be people hosting gambling activities.
So in a way, gambling cannot be banned completely so why not just regulate it in a way that people are restricted from gambling too much.

But if a person wants to gamble too much and does not break any laws, then what could be the problem? And why are you comfortable with someone else deciding for you what is excessive and what is normal? I don't think this is acceptable in a free society. If a person wants to gamble, then let him do it even around the clock.
405  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: POSSIBLE THINGS TO HELP US TO WIN AT CRYPTO CASINOS on: August 06, 2022, 12:25:35 PM
I think best tip for a gambler is to never keep playing when you are angry or low in mood. Its because it directly increases chances to lose. You make bad decisions and bad decisions always beep you over.
Also I always suggest people to properly calculate your winning/losing possibility. It help you to prefer and play better game, and in the long run you will have more chance to win. Its example to good decision making.

I wonder what calculations can be done if, for example, for dice, the house edge is always 1%? No matter how the player thinks, at a distance the probability of his winning tends to zero.
As for avoiding playing in a bad mood, I completely agree - anger leads to an aggressive game when a player tries to win back and accelerates the loss of a deposit very much.
406  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: August 06, 2022, 11:58:13 AM
Does anyone know (or where to look) what rewards sportsbet offers in the high tier loyalty program? I mean platinum, titanium and diamond levels. It's not that I plan to be there, but the closeness of information (or am I just not good at searching?) increases the interest. I'm sure that there are those who have reached at least the platinum level.

408  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Type of Gambler Am I? on: August 05, 2022, 06:50:25 PM
Because gamblers doesn't want to disclosed the amount that they have lost, so you can only hear from them, that they won this amount, but how much money they have as capital in order to win?
-skip-

It is a peculiarity of human psychology to hide one's weaknesses (in this case, gambling losses) and to exaggerate achievements (winnings). It's funny that this works in favor of the casino, because for people unfamiliar with this topic, from the outside it seems that earnings here are guaranteed for almost everyone, you just need to make a little effort or just be lucky. Thus, attraction to this area works very strongly even without much effort from the casino.
409  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 on: August 05, 2022, 05:52:41 PM
These are not arguments from the internet, but simple facts: regardless of the reasons (physical, mental or otherwise), the one who cannot defend his title is obviously weaker than the contenders. Strength is a combination of factors, not just one factor. Carlsen came close to repeating Kasparov's period of dominance, but gave up almost at the very end, probably such a distance is extremely difficult in every sense.
I think the same, on the NFL we have also seen a period of unprecedented dominance with Tom Brady and he has stated that he will retire when he does not feel like going through the grind of preparing for the next season, Carlsen despite probably being one of the most gifted chess players ever is right now not willing to go through that kind of grind, now there could be many reasons for this, but the fact is he is tired of defending his title for now and if that is the case then he will be nowhere near his top game, and in that case it makes more sense to allow someone else to take his place on the world championship.

However this is not completely bad news, in boxing there is the concept of lineal champion, with Carlsen out for the time being whoever wins will have his legitimacy questioned as he did not beat Carlsen, this will raise controversy and eventually once Carlsen comes back and he is serious about chess again we will have a match between whoever is the current champion at the time and Carlsen, which in my opinion will be very interesting.

I agree that the return of Magnus will be very interesting (especially if he can keep his strength, which seems doubtful to me). As for the new champion being "doubtful" that's not entirely true. If you look at the history of chess, it almost all consists of the fact that, for example, the current champion could run away from a stronger challenger for years (under various pretexts), while he remained the champion. It was even quite recently when Kramnik beat Kasparov (by the way, illegally) and then ran away from the rematch. But now all these processes are established and the competitions are held fairly, so any new champion will be completely fair and legal.
410  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino Games or Gambling Considered Sports, really! on: August 05, 2022, 05:10:19 PM
I think sports games like boxing, football, etc are not directly linked with gambling games. There are sports on which gamblers bet on the matches. Chess is also not a gambling game, you can only bet on chess matches.

The casino games like dice, slots, or even lottery are not skill based games, they are just luck based games where you win because of your good luck and nothing else. Some people consider poker as a skill based game which i disagree.

Determining whether a sport is gambling or not depends on the percentage of luck and skill in determining the result. Obviously, there is an element of luck in football, boxing and chess, but it is negligible compared to the percentage of skill that affects the final result.
But why do you call poker a game of luck? Knowing how to count the probabilities of cards and trying to understand your opponents is a natural skill and in poker the pros are much stronger than the amateurs, which means that skill is the determining factor.
411  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Man Collapses after Allegedly Losing a $400 Loan at a Betting Shop on: August 05, 2022, 04:40:06 PM
The first post correctly lists the risks of gambling and how we should proceed if we decide to gamble. I don't want to sound rude, but in this particular case (as in many others), the main problem was not gambling. It is obvious that if a person came up with the idea to bet on borrowed money to solve some financial problems, he is already in a difficult situation and the additional problem does not change much.
412  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: August 04, 2022, 04:31:00 PM
The drama is bad for Barcelona and De Jong. Barcelona again self destroy their reputation. If I am a star player and is wanted by many clubs, I will put Barcelona at bottom of my priority. It is bad for De Jong because he will not be ready for a new season. Less effective trainings, bad mood will combine and affect De Jong in early weeks of a coming season.

On the one hand, I can understand Barcelona - they were on the verge of bankruptcy and had to take drastic measures in order to change the situation. But why did they make all these star signings before they settled all the deals with those players who already have active contracts? Did they expect the players to do whatever Barcelona told them to? But it's too fantastic. And now, as I understand it, Barcelona has problems with registering newcomers because of the financial fair play?
413  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Profitable are Gambling Bots? on: August 04, 2022, 04:18:12 PM
I don't believe in gambling bots honestly unless there is math with profit maximization. Think about dice especially, its completely luck based and casino will always win. Or jackpot its all same. Bots should be lot more sophisticated to be more meaningful with gambling. So I think gambling bots are profitable only for their own makers: as they make lot more than gambler him/her self.

This is a classic case of a person selling the book "How to make a million by selling the book" How to make a million "", hahaha. No one will sell the goose that lays the golden eggs. This is also true for trading on the stock exchange, forex, etc. All supposedly arbitrage bots that are sold in fact do not bring any stable profit, and most often they are simply unprofitable over the entire trading distance.
414  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Share your Football Betting Strategies to Beat the Bookies this Season on: August 04, 2022, 04:10:36 PM
  • Don’t play games you don’t understand.

this is a very good point for all gamblers, at least someone should learn or know first before playing on the gambling he wants to know. especially the point here is football, I don't really care about strategy, the most important thing is that I usually bet on the leagues that I know, especially the big teams that will compete, odd, under, over etc. become an option when betting on the team's choice is not possible. however usually I choose three matches and choose the parlay option.
So what you are saying is a good point for gamblers.

I think that this paragraph should be replaced with "do not play games with a bookmaker if you do not understand the mathematics behind it." Better does not have to understand football, hockey or whatever to beat the bookmaker. If knowledge of sports gave an advantage, then any professional athletes would beat bookmakers easily, but this does not happen. I think that betting is closer to poker - it's about numbers/probabilities.
415  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Macau's Casino Operation Continues Despite The Latest Outbreak on: August 04, 2022, 04:00:47 PM
I think that the health of local residents will suffer much more if the restrictions continue to work and the economy continues to stagnate. In my opinion, in 2022 it is no longer relevant to talk about the dangers of the virus, since it has mutated into a much milder form than before and has become no more dangerous than a common cold. Life goes on as usual and there is always some risk, but you can not endlessly "safely" sit at home and do nothing.
You would really be dead when you do starve to death just because of these quarantines or isolation and we've seen such condition or situation and people are really protesting against it or trying out to

appeal that there should be at least some consideration because government aide or support isnt really enough for their living but now we've seen that things turns back to normal gradually.

For a country same as Macau which do heavily rely on gambling tax revenue then it would really be just normal that they would really be making such actions.

All countries that have tried to implement a zero-contamination policy have suffered, no matter how focused they are on gambling. This can't work for any country in my opinion, since people's normal lives mean they move around in space to do work and get paid for it. What surprises me most of all is that it has already been found out in practice that such measures do not work, but for some reason their introduction is being discussed again.
416  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My Recent Experience at a Land-Based Casino on: August 03, 2022, 07:44:14 PM
If I were the casino manager I would want to fire the casino worker for interfering with my business but I am afraid there would probably be laws which prevent me from doing exactly that because I am not sure if it would be considered as wrongdoing by the court. In fact the court may see it in a positive light, like he was trying to prevent a gambling addict and a new father from a gambling addiction or something.

From a humane perspective the worker is probably right to tell him off. From a business perspective... Not so good.

As far as I know, in almost all countries casinos are in a "special position" in relation to customers and employees. For example, a casino may not let a person in without explanation, it was originally invented against scammers and still works. I heard something similar about the croupier - if the casino, for some reason or without it, does not want a particular croupier to work, then it fires him without any problems. These are the features of the business.
417  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Finding value bets on: August 03, 2022, 07:33:39 PM
Yes, it is as I say, the opposite case is very difficult to do because gambling in trading is a bet totally on luck, when we make bets in gfambling we are letting ourselves be carried away by the world of randomness and we fall into another value that is to leave everything to "luck", because patterns and certain routine plays tend to fail more likely, if we take into account that sports bets are or have more chances of winning, the answer is yes, because there are people who hire experts who Do the corresponding expert opinion on your players, in football, baske, of course, an assessment of that style without being with those players, it would be something very subjective, but it would still contribute a certain value when deciding on a bet.

Do you think that there are some independent expert teams that can be stronger than the odds providers that all bookmakers use? I am sure that this is unrealistic if we are talking about major competitions. Maybe it works for niche competitions and for the level of very low leagues, but it seems to me that if a player makes big bets on such competitions (otherwise he will not be able to recoup the work of experts), then this will cause a lot of questions from bookmakers.
418  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Infographics] Does Football Betting Pay Off? on: August 03, 2022, 06:34:06 PM
There are too many factors influencing an accurate outcome to that survey ...

1. People can lie about their success.
2. The amount of people that participated per country.
3. The knowledge levels of the people that participated. (Professionals or Rookies)
4. Population of the country.
5. Citizenship. (UK are a mix breed of people)

So you cannot simply take this as an accurate reflection of the facts per country. You have to gather more information of the people's background before you draw up the statistics.  Roll Eyes

Fair remarks, but if the statistical sample is large (judging by the * it is huge), then the results are close to relevant, since distortions in different directions compensate each other on average, and if we take the lie factor, then it is presumably the same for different countries. Therefore, the difference between countries is most likely identified accurately. As we can see, the Germans are the most conservative, and the Italians are reckless - an exact match to the stereotypes (which also have a basis).
419  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Share your Football Betting Strategies to Beat the Bookies this Season on: August 03, 2022, 06:24:48 PM
  • Choose 2 reliable punters and ignore others.
  • Don’t be a Gambler be a calculative winner.

Don't you think that this is far from the concept of strategy? If the teams that you have chosen are obviously good for everyone, then the bookmakers will not give favorable odds on them and you will not receive a profit for your bets commensurate with the risk. As a result, when the team has a decline (it inevitably happens with any team), for a couple of unsuccessful bets, you will lose all your previous winnings and go into the red.
