12h PSAR flipped to bearish on Bitfinex and BTC-E and very close to flip on Bitstamp and BTCChina.

Sometimes, when it looks too bearish, it's actually bullish.

Just sayin'

And sometimes if it looks mildly bearish, it's just a prelude of crashes. Wink
12h PSAR flipped to bearish on all exchanges, also 1d PSAR flipped, so we're not going up significantly for a while.

In a market this small and illiquid, we are going up when someone decides to buy lots of BTC, and going down when people decide to sell lots of BTC.

In 4 years of watching BTC prices, have yet to see any chart predict any of BTCs large moves.

405  Economy / Speculation / been here since $15 and i think.... on: January 26, 2015, 08:02:46 AM
that every bubble has been different. Ashamed to say i watched the bubble to $280 and sat it out in disbelief, despite having been interested in BTC for over a year. When it crashed back down i bought a lot as it fluctuated between 60~120 for quite a while, cursing myself for having thought about buying at $15 and just spending money on other shit instead, like gold. Great investment that has been. As this week i am back to where i was a few years ago, and only then cause of the Aussie dollar.

Fair value in my opinion for the last 12 months has been between 300 and 400, based mainly of blockchain stats like wallets, transactions, and usd volume. Still only sold 25% of my stash at $800, more because i needed the money than i had the courage of my convictions.

For the time being I still believe that is a fair price, but my gut feeling, which has no data to back it up, but has been good to me when i have listened to it, tells me BTC is at a similar place is was at $140 in 2013. ie poised to take off.

Obviously nobody should take the gut feelings of an anonymous  person on the internet seriously, but I tend to take them seriously given how they have worked out in my life. The conscious mind can process something like 50 bits of information per second. Our brains unconsciously  process 10 million bits of information per second from our eyes alone. The more you consciously study something, the better your unconscious brain can make connections you are simply unable to reason out.

My unconscious brain is now telling me to buy with both hands, so I am. We shall see how this all works out, yes?

407  Economy / Economics / Re: 80 richest people on the planet have the same wealth as the poorest 50% on: January 25, 2015, 12:35:52 AM
Almost everyone on this forum is in the top 5%. It's easy to look up and say, "It's not fair". Nobody looks down and says the same. The world can't support 7 billion people with a TV and air-conditioning. Before you expect the top 1% (only about 1.5 million dollars by the way) to give some up, how about you give your wealth to somebody in Africa?

And yet it always seems to be conservatives trying to make burning the flag illegal. Most people pick a side, and don't get too bothered by actual principles.

all this has happened before and will happen again....

Thinking this very much too - and considering just how much positive the growth of fundamentals has seemed over the past year, I'm very much looking forward to the adjustment.
In the last half year, the use of Bitcoin hasn't changed much. See Estimated transaction volume in USD, which has been flat for six months now. There's been a lot of talk about growth in usage, but it's not happening.

Looking at transaction volume, it is up around 300% from this time last year, which means around $360 is pretty much exactly where the price should be.

Plus number of transactions and number of unique addresses used continues to climb, I would say BTC is pretty much where it should be. Remember, we were at $15 not that long ago. I would say we should hit 4 digits again around this time next year.
411  Economy / Speculation / Re: what happened, guys? on: November 13, 2014, 12:41:55 PM
Number of transactions just hit an all time high for the first time since last year. Number of wallets used has been at all time high for a few weeks.....BTC adoption is continuing its relentless march higher!

Been a long time since i got so many positive bitcoin paranoid notifications in such a short space to time. Now if only gold would stop tanking....

Jesus, this kind of action brings back memories.....was beginning to think I would never have these make $1000's whilst i sleep BTC nights again.   Smiley
415  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is there any hope for bitcoin? Possible solutions? on: November 01, 2014, 02:28:41 AM
I see very little reason for people in USA to buy bitcoin to use as a currency. For the rest of us though, it makes a lot of sense. Paypal makes on 2 -5 % on currency conversion, which is a lot when buying laptops etc. Once more and more companies accept it on world wide sales, it will grow strongly, simply cause it is both a pain in the ass and expensive to buy stuff from the USA when you dont live there. I have american address and credit card purely for amazon etc buying, it's a pain. Will be interesting to see what happens when Dell lets everyone use bitcoin, i think they will see a lot more sales than they do now, because it makes so much more sense for bitcoin purchases in the rest of the world.

number of transactions just hit an all time high, first time we have been above last Decembers bubble peak....only this time is has got there from steady growth. Number of wallets used daily has been at an all time high for some time.....bitcoin continues to grow slowly and steadily.

But the total daily value of those transactions, in USD, has been pretty much the same since April, and is ~30% less than it was in Jan--Feb:
Estimated USD Transaction Volume

But, anyway, we STILL do not know how much of that traffic is "fake" (between addressed that belong to te same person; e.g. hotwallet/coldwallet flow, tumbling, deposit/withdrawal at exchanges, gambling sites and other "bitcoin banks"...)

UDS volume is up around 300% since last year may-december though, which ties in nicely with the price, and the steady growth in transactions means it's very unlikely to be fake.
417  Economy / Speculation / Re: don't panic, btc is doing well ! on: October 31, 2014, 11:54:30 PM
charts on blockchain are interesting....we just hit an all time high in number of transactions per day...finally beating the December 13 bubble. I think bitcoin is still growing a good steady rate, this year has just been returning to a more realistic price. Even without etf or anything else, i think we should continue to grow steadily, i estimate $1200 by this time next year.

can't stop laughing at that GIF... does that make me a bad person?
420  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why are people predicting the price going down? I predict it steadily growing on: October 25, 2014, 10:53:06 PM
Just look at the charts on blockchain. BTC is growing steadily. USD transactional volume is up 300% from this time last year, which corresponds pretty closely with the price. Most people here seem to have unrealistic expectations of how bitcoin will make them millionaires overnight with no real effort or risk on their part. By the end of 2015 BTC will be over $1000. That's damn good growth, just stop expecting to make shit loads in a matter of weeks. There may well be more speculative bubbles, but steady growth through adoption is what you should be banking on.

Most people seem to be pretty bearish right now, based purely on the price returning to more sustainable levels of growth. Up 300% in a year is an excellent return.
