401  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] - laser engraved bitcoin cards [preorder] on: July 22, 2011, 08:20:26 AM
I'd like to pay now.  Ordering now and paying in BTC in August is like you short-selling BTC.

No is not: price in BTC will be rearranged if there is a increase/decrease of BTC value (I can cover a +/-5% of fluctuaction around 13.9$/BTC). But if you prefer to pay now there is no problem at all.

What he means is that he might owe you 0.5btc (for example) now, but if the market crashes to $3 when he needs to pay you in a couple of months, he will owe you like 3btc.

I'll take a couple.
403  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who Are Mt Gox! on: July 20, 2011, 10:01:55 AM
It seem strange to me that people put so much trust in Mt Gox.  I have a 4 BTC there. I'd be hard pressed to leave much more there. The Reason.  I have absolutely no idea who they are. The site give nothing away. There is nothing about the directors. There is nothing about the plan for the future. Its all very Faceless.

MtGox is a real company in china(? or japan i think) run by http://www.tibanne.com/.
404  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Could I make and Compile my Own Bitcoin app. But with my Custom Interface. on: July 18, 2011, 09:24:19 AM
Hi

Bitcoin is open source. Could I get the source code for Bitcoin and make my own interface for it that would still work with the bitcoin blocks.

Thank you.

405  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] 2x Radeon HD 6850 on: July 17, 2011, 09:31:39 PM
I have been using these two (powercolor) cards for 7 months in my gaming rig, they're not the best for mining (about 210MH/s each), but they do make great gaming cards. Bitcoins only please, I'm asking about 9BTC each (includes postage). They're in great condition, along with the box and accessories.

I haven't sold anything here before, so here is my ebay feedback:
http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/120_holt

I will sell them individually, or together. If you're interested, PM me. UK only please

You can push 300mh/s+ with that card.
406  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Eve Online PLEX or ISK on: July 17, 2011, 06:50:38 AM
Prices vary depending on the btc/usd exchange rate, but currently its 1.5btc each plex! and isk at the same conversion rate ( 1.5btc/375mil)

hmmmmmm. tempting. is it still against EVE's ToS to sell plex outside of game?

Bump.

update?
408  Economy / Goods / Re: World of tanks - Steam Serial 0.2BTC ONLY!! on: July 14, 2011, 04:30:49 PM
I don't think World of Tanks is a Steam game - I think what you have is a gold code or whatever so you can get the premium shit that free players don't have... but I don't think it has anything to do with Steam.
I know already, I was wrong, I'm sorry.

Change the topic.
409  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: how can I start only the terminal on Ubuntu 11? on: July 14, 2011, 03:11:30 PM
another question...

when I'm on ssh and start the miner, how can I get the screen again after close and open again?

for example:

I open ssh now and run some random miner, and then exits...

later the same day, I want to see how things are going, how can I open again and see the hashes? (echos/prints from the previous session)

Already tried the cat /dev/pts/2 but nothing happens, only black screen

unless you use screen or something, starting a miner then closing that ssh session will end the miner.

Wow, I was just about to create a thread asking this same question.  I need to power two 5970's and was wondering which of these two PSUs to choose.  I'm worried that the 1200 W Corsair will not be able to handle both the 5970's.  SomeoneWeird, you would say Strider, why is that?

1200 is DEFS enough for 2 gpu's. You could probably power 5 off it...
Could the Corsair 1200 W power 3 6990's and a Phenom II  core 1090T?

Doubt it.
411  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Experienced Linux and bitcoin mining person looking for work? on: July 14, 2011, 10:52:56 AM
Hi,
I got help - thanks for your offer though. It's just you didn't really inspire any confidence in me for a really expensive rig I have.

I actually got a guy that works as a system admin for his day job, has multiple cisco certifications among other things. That's all you needed to tell me. (if you do have them)

Again thanks though - but I was looking for a pro.  Smiley

um, I have 5 cisco certs, if you bothered to look up the diploma I was doing, it gives me roughly 10 different certificates, including CISCO ones (CCNA etc.), Business management, Computer repair, and advanced networking.
412  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Experienced Linux and bitcoin mining person looking for work? on: July 14, 2011, 09:05:58 AM
I am in the process of getting my rigs up and running to fully stable condition at the moment. I'm currently getting cooling resolved and then I will be working on getting a Linux configuration working with all the reporting utilities, monitoring etc. working. This will probably involve batch scripts etc. The person I get hopefully should be able to give me more ideas to improve my setup and have experience overclocking cards. Specifically the Radeon 6990's.

Negotiable rate depending on what your capable of and your experience. I know quite abit of Linux myself but I need someone experienced to get this up and running quickly to the functionality I need.

I'm currently in the process of getting a cooling solution in place. Once that's up then things will need to be configured. I would prefer that the person posts here quite often and can detail other things they have worked on.

Look forward to hearing back.

Thanks.

I can do it.

Do what? Have you your own rig?

Yes, and I have quite a bit of experience with unix.

What kind of rig do you have and how have you it setup? What is your day job?

Um, I don't see why it matters... but I currently have 2 (1atm, getting other replaced) 5830's running and should be getting another 6950 in a couple of days. And I'm at tafe doing an advanced diploma of computer systems engineering.

Course it's relevant - go to job interview education when ur finished your course. Third level education means very little.

... do you want help or not.

It does exist, I don't know why it isn't listed though.

Looks free on the website.

I'm looking to build a new triple 6990 rig and I'm wondering if anyone can help me with a choice of power supplies.

I know that a lot of you in the community use the AX1200 which here in Australia is more expensive then the Strider 1500W.

So I'm not sure which one to choose; the AX has a single +12v rail where as the Strider has 8 +12V rails but has a higher wattage.

Strider. Also drop by #bitcoin-aus when you have a chance Smiley
