menurut UNHCR pada tahun 2016 , ada 897 pengungsi Rohingya yang mengungsi ke indonesia dan terus bertambah di setiap tahunnya,
di awal november 2023 pengungsi rohingya kembali terdampar di beberapa kabupaten pesisir di aceh,
tetapi tidak seperti beberapa tahun sebelumnya yang menerima pengungsi dengan ramah, kali ini warga aceh menolak kedatangan pengungsi rohingya ke daerah mereka ada banyak alasan diantaranya:
- kelakuan rohingya yang tidak mematuhi aturan setempat
- sifat mereka yang tidak tau berterimakasih
- melarikan diri dari camp pengungsian
- terjadi pencurian di kebun warga hinga tindak pemerkosaan
