401  Economy / Gambling / Re: BETABIT.co.in - The Bitcoin Betting Exchange - Now in beta on: July 14, 2014, 05:41:37 PM
We will add interactive tutorial soon, but currently there is information in the bet slip, that states: Back (bet for) and Lay (bet against) the outcome you've chosen. The easiest way to recognize what's happening is to watch out for the colors - red means you are betting against the outcome and green means you are betting that it will happen.

That still wasn't helpful and I saw all that on the site. Still not helpful. If there are two teams playing in a foreign country then who is the home team and who is the away team? Green and red and home and away do not tell me which team I am betting on. I wanted to bet on Germany and I thought I did. Surprise, surprise! I didn't. Get it?

It's not that difficult m8. I'm not sure how you could think otherwise.

"Hey bitstamp, I bought a bitcoin for 600usd, but I thought you meant Canadian dollars! Refund me!"
402  Economy / Gambling / Re: Ratings and Reviews of Sportsbooks. Ask books questions, problems and feedback on: July 08, 2014, 05:24:05 PM
It doesn't seem like enough people find it weird that a guy who runs a sportsbook rating thread on a bitcoin forum:
1. Does not seem to understand that odds move over time (see discussion with directbet)
2. Does not seem to understand that it takes time for bitcoin transactions to propagate (see discussion with directbet)
3. Is paid by some books ("oh but that's ok, it's for my website not this forum")
403  Economy / Gambling / Re: BETABIT.co.in - The Bitcoin Betting Exchange - Now in beta on: July 07, 2014, 03:39:04 PM
I like the idea behind the site but in all honesty the site is garbage.

I'm not a betting man most of the time, but i do like to throw in a few wagers from time to time.
Why cant the site be more simple ? I mean "win" "loose" and so on?

I tried to place a bet like 10 times on Germany winning vs Brazil but it just doesn't let me place it.

If you plan on running the site as it is, it will never have any success. People like it simple.
I also believe as they are doing its not working for them they need to settle things very quickly and I have few bets and after match I check then I realize these are still unmatched and I have nothing with result grading is also very slow

I don't understand what you mean? Do you mean you are technically not able to place bets, or you don't understand how it works?
If you don't understand how it works, that's too bad, because it's just a betting exchange and that is really a fundamental and simple concept (see Betfair).
Perhaps you should have a quick wiki read before you place bets.

405  Economy / Gambling / Re: Fairlay - betting exchange - we offer the SAME ODDS and LOWER FEES than betfair on: July 02, 2014, 05:27:49 PM
Good luck to you, looks good. Lots of similar sites opening recently. I like that your advertising is focused on the meat and potatoes (margin, volume) and not miscellaneous bonuses and stuff.
However, I'd really like for you to use standard football lines (you don't have to offer the full extent that betfair offers, but standard FT 1x2 lines are a must, these "to qualify" lines are rarely relevant throughout the season) and also use the standard terminology (back, lay, outcomes labeled by team names or 1x2 rather than "yes/no"). In the future, you could perhaps have a sports section that makes it simpler to bet on sports rather than the "catch-all" interface you have now.
Additionally I'd like to be able to see how much is matched/unmatched on each different outcome at each different odds, betfair style, and not just in total.

Thanks for your suggestions. Your impression is right - our interface was not designed for people who do sport betting all day. In user test we found out that new people are really confused of for example lay odds of 4. What they wanted to know is what odds they get (1.333) and not what they give the other site.

Another example is, that "normal" people are confused if they bet on "Germany will win" and then we say them - your bet did not win because Germany did not win after 90 minutes.

So - in our opinion - for sport books pros it is way easier to figure out how our site works then the other way round for newcomers.

The way we want to attract the pros is purely by exceptional odds and low fees.

However, we are always willing to add features. We already implemented the feature you suggested regarding the overview of all open bets on our testserver: http://188.165.246.217/predict/registered/new/brazil-will-win-the-football-world-cup/
and then click on: "show additional stats" We will deploy it on the real server soon.

Wow cool, and thanks for the fast response Smiley
I just hope that as next season approaches sportsbook functionality gets worked on.

Requiring 4 confirmations for deposits is unreasonable and certainly "usually takes no more than a few minutes" is not true.

Hi,

Odds on Brazil vs Chile for draw is wrong. please check its showing 1.4-1.5.

I know I can take benefit of this but just want to help.

Normal odds must be above 4 for back.

The odds aren't set by them  Smiley
409  Economy / Gambling / Re: BETABIT.co.in - The Bitcoin Betting Exchange - Now in beta on: June 28, 2014, 11:21:23 AM
Thank you for your feedback.
The commission is 4% from the net profits as in Betfair. As for the 10-20% stated - the only bookies with lower juice are Asian bookies like Pinacle and 188bet, the European bookies are working exactly in the 10-20% range.
As for the volumes - they are currently low, but we are still in beta and would like to fix possible bugs and issues on the site and then we will invest more in promotions and other means to attract users and increase liquidity.

Thanks for clearing that up. In any case even 10% is a bit exaggerated, but ok, it's hard to compare different methods of commission.
The main problem I have is not lack of volume but lack of knowledge of how much to bet. Is the lay that this guy offered for 0.0001bitcoin or 1bitcoin? I have no indication.
I'd also like to have an option of inputting an amount for my liability and having backer's stake calculated from it, rather than the other way around.
410  Economy / Gambling / Re: BETABIT.co.in - The Bitcoin Betting Exchange - Now in beta on: June 28, 2014, 10:37:39 AM
You really need to show the full market to give some idea of quantities.
The amount of commission is also not clear. You say on the help page that it's 4%, but is that percent of net profits (like betfair), or percent of volume (like regular bookies).
Also your claim that "The juice is much lower – while bookies set it around 10-20%" is completely false and weird.

Would be willing depending on price. Have trust ratings from a well-known BTC-to-paypal seller back when he was still operating.

What are the chances I get my deposit back? :-( https://blockchain.info/tx/0d26ad5dad12ba4681ebe2ece3fb749f05de149e77b6a80b5b57851326fa6e03
I think I sent it a good 2 hours or so before it ended.

Can OP comment? At what time was the last transaction before the site shut down, and does my transaction qualify for some compensation?

Disappointed at the sudden raise in margins (without notifying), guess I will be moving to Nitrogen.
