401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's function 5, 10, 20 years from now on: December 31, 2023, 11:57:15 PM
By 2043 I would hope that bitcoin is used as a payment option but also as a means of using as collateral, I should expect you to be able to make any major payments such as a mortgage or car payment with bitcoin. I can sew the ease of use has been given rise due to implementation of some kind of blockchain infrastructure and blockchain being implemented into education and industry fully.
402  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto and the Masses on: December 31, 2023, 11:42:54 PM
Cryptocurrencies have come a long way since the early days of Bitcoin and we are the early adopters of this remarkable technology.  But still the mass hasn't adopted blockchain technology or Cryptocurrencies. So, As you think, How can we bridge the gap between mainstream adoption and the complexities of blockchain technology? Share your thoughts on making crypto more accessible to the general public

I think that as time goes on its only inevitable for increased adoption to happen unless some apocalyptic event happens where we all go extinct or something takes out the internet completely.
403  Economy / Economics / Re: SBF-Denies Improper use of Customer Funds in a 1 on 1 Interview on: December 31, 2023, 10:04:25 PM
He won't do it. He'll want to wait for the verdict first and this will take at least a year. Then, if he gets 30 years or more, there's a chance he'll do it.

For a young guy, getting out at his 60s or 70s is like a death sentence, especially that he's a weak looking guy. If he got into a prison camp he might survive, but in a normal federal prison he won't make it with all those street thugs around. He'll end up as someone's girlfriend.

Should we care about him? It wasn't a mistake that he made. It was years of stealing before he got caught. He knew what he was doing.
I'd be more willing to release Ross than SBF and Ross is in for life.

LOL.. do you really think that this guy will spend more than a few weeks behind bars? He made hundreds of millions of USD worth of donations to various political causes (the vast majority of which went to the Democrat Party), and his parents are very rich and influential. He may get sentenced to a lengthy jail term, but I don't think that he will serve more than 1% of that time in a proper prison. Ross Ulbricht's case was different. He was from the other extreme of the political prism and he went against the system. You can't compare Sam Bankman Fraud to Ross Ulbricht.

Do you really think that Democrat or any political party will risk their vote for just one man, more than that that, SBF has lost all of his leverage. Not to mention that next year is election year. I don't know whether the general public is paying attention to the FTX case, but Democrat will definitely seize every vote they can get, and getting involved with SBF at this time is bad decision, they will always get another donor.

SBF subverted an inconcievable amount of money into the Democratic party the deed has already been done and surely his money helped their cause. I only hope that people will have enough sense not to vote for someone that doens't want anything good for their own country. It truly is a shame what is happening in America.
404  Economy / Collectibles / Re: CYPHER HODL-TIMELINE on: December 31, 2023, 09:59:17 PM
Wow these look really nice, and of very good quality. I think its a really cool concept to be putting the Orinal into a BRC-20 themed coin. I have seen some of this with the Pepe coins that I wish I had ordered in the past here and I think that I would definitely like to get one like this. Add me to your list!
405  Other / Meta / Re: What new changes would you like to see on Bitcointalk in 2024 ? on: December 31, 2023, 09:51:47 PM
I like the forum as is, what I will be looking a lot forward to using is the telegram bot that I've not had the chance to look at but I see that as being extremely helpful for notifications and keeping you up to par with what is going on in the threads that you have recently posted in. I think overall I am very happy with this forum, it works quite well IMO.
406  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your Top 3 Altcoins of 2023? on: December 31, 2023, 09:48:26 PM
It is going to have to be BTC, ETH, and XRP for me, I wish I could say NEO but I havene't checked the price in ages and I sold my holdings in it long ago, although at one point they were highly revered among the other altcoins. I honestly think some of the craziest tokens I have heard of recently are BONK, ORDI, and SATs, which have all seen some pretty huge increases in the last part of 2023 here. All Ordinal related tokens and most definitely anywhere even close to my top 3.
407  Economy / Goods / Re: Original Ledger Wallet Nano Sealed on: December 31, 2023, 09:44:26 PM
Hi, I have a ledger nano wallet (the one that existed before the ledger nano s) lying around at home, which is still in its original sealed packaging. Is this wallet worth anything? (Collectible?) Are sealed "older" hardwarewallets considered collectibles?
Many thanks for any answers!

After all of this crazy string of events w/ the dapps I'm sure that these wallets have lost a lot of users, but from a collectible standpoint I don't see why something like that wayyyy down the line couldn't be worth a whole heck of a lot more simply because there are few going to be left in this condition in existence. Hang on to it m8! Maybe they can use it in your local crypto museum some day in the future.
408  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Kialara Guardians: Share, Trade, Buy, and Sell on: December 31, 2023, 09:42:03 PM
as Max informed us all in his newsletter today, the guardians edition will be limited after all. there will be a total of 1000 pieces (250 of each element) Smiley
the whole thing is getting more interesting again and the guardians are getting a new (collector's) value in my eyes. @Kialara nice that you have made this decision

Wow that is a big deal! These are very choice. I have seen a few sets from various collectors on the forum but I have yet to see any Kialara in person. I wonder if they will be at the Bitcoin conference next year in Nashville Tennessee? I'll have to check K's website and see, I remember thinking that these were a bit out of my price range at the time but I've recently come into some play money ;P
409  Other / Meta / Re: [TELEGRAM] Yet Another BitcoinTalk Notification BOT (merits, mentions, topics,+) on: December 31, 2023, 05:30:18 AM
Wow, this is incredible, I can't believe I never saw this before. I can't wait to try the bot on telegram. For a noob with this bot can anyone kindly tell me some of the coolest things you can do with it? It looks like people have asked for improvements/ given ideas, have many of them been implemented and also is this still being upgraded today?
410  Economy / Economics / Re: MicroStrategy Buys $250M in Bitcoin, Calling the Crypto ‘Superior to Cash’ on: December 31, 2023, 05:23:18 AM
Damn, I didn't know that Saylor himself owns like over 17k worth of bitcoins, that is absolutely crazy! I thought it was just his company that was loaded with Bitcoin but I didn't know that he was such a bull with his average buying on his personal coins was 9.8k.... 10k less that Micro's average buy.
411  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Has your bank or credit card told you they will stop you buying crypto? on: December 31, 2023, 05:13:14 AM
Just make sure to shave off 30% of all your gains on interest fees alone! Crypto should always be purchased with cash you have already on hand, otherwise it cancels out almost unless it just goes through the roof. The time it'll take to go through the roof might not be worth it depending on the amount that you are purchasing.
412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The general public still doesn't understand Bitcoin is still growing on: December 31, 2023, 04:57:31 AM
I guess they just didn't do their research and assumed that because FTX fell that it was the end of crypto as we know it. SMH. It definitely put a huge damper on things and for quite a while if I might add but it was definitely not the end of Bitcoin as we know it. SBF is definitely going to pay for that 100 fold because he is not in for a fun future I don't think. Bitcoin is definitely strong, and just needs to sort out this Orinals issue...
413  Other / Meta / Re: Opinion on Spelling Check on: December 31, 2023, 04:54:31 AM
I know this isn't exactly microsoft word but I am curious to know if you think that the Bitcoin Talk Forum is probably more real and authentic because of the lack of a spell check? I think that in addition to being able to guage intelect and a sort of personality traits to pick up from the readers perspective recognizing proper spelling habits in any users helps you know whether or not a person is out of character due to a hack or something of that sort and now we have an account under the control of a hacker/scammer. I think its honeslty great that we don't have a spell check because I think it always has you second guessing yourself and thus training you to always double or triple check your words on a public forum.
That means you are using phone, those computer browsers that I have used have spell check themselves. I think  Windows OS that I am using makes it like that. But on Android phone, I do not see spell check there. I use Edge browser and everything you wrote incorrectly are going to be highlighted in red under the words. Do not expect this forum to do all for you.

You are relating it to scammers and hackers. Don't your know that scammers and hackers can also write good English and use the right tools needed for it.

Yeah I guess I don't have this problem when I use my mac vs my android on a dell doc when I am writing many of my posts. Guarnateed I probably even have spelling/ grammer errors in this post. You also bring up a good point, that hackers would be more on point with their writing and just because people either might have bad grammer or spelling or whatever it doesn't mean that they lack intelect, maybe they are just in a huge rush or have other pressing matters to attend to? Who knows.
414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What we all learnt this 2023 on: December 30, 2023, 02:24:15 AM
I know I'm kinda new here to be giving out advice on this forum, nonetheless I've been on the crypto space for some years now and from my mistakes and personal experience I can say this:

👉 Don't take popular opinions as an investment advice. If there is anything I've truly learnt from my time in this forum, is not to follow popular opinions or crypto influencers. Making reference to a trend some months ago about bitcoin price reaching an ATH of 100k this year which is obviously not going to happen because of the current price and market conditions, I guess it would take the hand of God to make that happen and we aren't even sure if we are in a bull run or not.

👉 Stop relying on Telegram channels or Reddit groups for trade signals or investment advice. I know everyone has their decision and perspectives regarding to this but from my knowledge and complaints I've seen on this forum and other sources, most persons ends up with negative experiences from this.
Trading is risky and investment must be done wisely.
I recommend that you get some knowledge so you could do some analysis for yourself and check those signals before using them. This would help you have an idea of the risk your getting into.
Always do a good background check up before investing in any project.

👉 This advice might seem a little controversial, but I think it's helpful. Stop over diversification, what I call over diversification is putting your money in every crypto project that comes your way.
I think it's far better to have few crypto that you are constantly, than investing violently in so many project.

I 100% agree and would agrue that I am 100% in on BTC, as well as these other cryptos: ETH, XRP, I do like Monero, Solana definitely seems to have promise. Helium. HederaHashGraph/HBAR. That is pretty much all of the ones I like. The majority I am really HODLing on is all BTC, ETH, and XRP.

416  Other / Meta / Re: New Year = New Password (...and new you, too!) on: December 30, 2023, 01:50:20 AM
If you're considering changing your Btalk password be warned that everytime you do this BPIP can see that and show the whole world the exact date and time you changed your password lol. Just FYI. I think a lot of people probably are not aware of this fact so that is also the main reason why I am bringing that up.
417  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin History Book 2008-2024 PROGRESS REPORT on: December 30, 2023, 01:35:31 AM
“The Past Milestones”, the index is just amazing and it’s making me read the book already. This is definitely going to be detailed book considering the index titles from domain registration to how it started with email communications, yeah that gives me good insight about this book and what is expected from it. I think we are going to have very nice book soon just because of one active and enthusiastic member.

I just wanna say, keep it up. I will contact you regarding donation after few days once I get my salaries rolled over by my employer. Being Bitcoin lover I would be more than happy to donate small share for your good work. All the very best mate. Hope to see your copy released real soon.  Smiley

I would have to agree each time I check this thread the progress is really looking good. I love how this is in the layout of a school text book. I'll definitely be looking forward to taking a gander at the "The Past Milestones" as well it'll be good to have a crisp synopsis of all the main events. Looking forward to seeing the final product. Please do put me on the list to purchase one when the time comes.

420  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as a Replacement for a College Savings Plan on: December 30, 2023, 01:06:49 AM
At this rate, I am seeing that now most corporate companies plan to remove the college degree requirement for jobs, which will transform the college education long term, and its looking like it won't even be needed unless you're going to be a PhD or a Lawyer etc etc.

The traditional mutual fund / 529 plan isn't really needed anymore if college isn't going to be a requirement, but now I am more so just thinking of a life savings plan is a much better and more flexible option. Maybe just set them each up a wallet and load x amount each making quarterly contributions. By the time they are old enough surely they would have more money in that account anyways compared to the mutual fund, right?

Don't fall for this trap. There are only a handful of companies where they do not look for a college degree to hire you if you have extraordinary talent. 99% of the companies still believe in meritocracy. The world you are dreaming of, is not going to happen in your lifetime. Probably few more generations will be needed to change this social system. So get a College degree and it is best if you can get a masters degree at least.

Saving in Bitcoin should be fine because Bitcoin has the potential to give you a great return which can cover your education cost. But be a little conservative and probably divide your investment to invest in both Bitcoin and mutual fund.

You're right for the most part I think albeit some companies will definitely overlook the college degree requirement for the right candidate that shows the right kind of moxy that they're looking for. This opens up a wide net and i'm sure it'll come with some sort of pay decrease and have some reciprical effects to the professionals that actually have degrees.

You're absolutely right with the notion that you should just invest in both Bitcoin and Mutual Funds. I like that and it honestly should not ever be just one or the other but taking each into account and thinking of each scenario having both surely couldn't ever hurt.
