401  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: June 15, 2011, 01:57:05 AM
I have two rigs mining but this is my main one:

Two 5870's.  One is overclocked at 1120/500 → 469 MHash/s.  The other has a minimal overclock (900/600) → 376 MHash/s.

Serious question:  Why do you have so much radiator surface area?  Do you need that much area to dump the heat?  Is your water temperature running near ambient temps?  Did you have to add more radiators because your delta was getting too large?  I ask because back in the day when I designed my own water cooling system (before you could buy them in a box) I was able to get away with a radiator about 250mm x 120mm.
Because the heat generated from current cards and cpu's is ALOT more now. I need 3, 360mm x 120mm radiators to cool 4 GTX 580's, 2 hexacore xeons, and a motherboard chip set block. (It isn't a mining rig, its a super enthusiast rig Wink

Video cards don't scale perfectly. It is usually up to the motherboard and CPU to make sure the work is evenly divided. But you will never see 100% performance from multiple cards.

Either your video card is dieing or you need to add some vcore to the video card.

I take tips Wink

Anyone know the reasoning behind the DOS?
It was a DDOS, not a DOS
405  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Dwolla? on: June 14, 2011, 07:26:56 PM
They are nothing like Paypal. Paypal is a evil company. I have yet to hear of any issues with Dwolla.

What makes Paypal so evil? I'm just curious where all this hate is coming from since I've never had problems and haven't heard much about the problems that happen.
They can and will limit your account for no reason. They hold payments for 14 days, and in most peoples cases, pertinently limit your account and hold your money for 180 days!
406  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: CPU effect on 2x 6870 mining operation? on: June 14, 2011, 05:26:35 AM
I ususally run a cheap dual core
407  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Pool issues (SLush, BTC Guild...) on: June 13, 2011, 03:17:32 PM
1# What is the problem?

To be honest, I don't see a problem in your picture.
The temperatures are fine (graphic cards are able to get 70°C)
On the other hand, looking at the patern of the graphic your GPU tends to go immediately stop.

My guess: Putting the graphics together I think your computer stops the GPU usage as soon as the temperature gets to 60°C and starts again under the temperature of 50°C.
I thought that you could highten this temperature.
Note that this is just speculation...

Kind of unrelated, but a GPU can get to 110°C before it gets perminatly damaged. I've ran 570's and 580's folding for months at 80c, no damage what so ever. I would say the highest temperature a GPU should hit for sustained use is 85.
408  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: GPU mining rig -- How much CPU is actually required? on: June 13, 2011, 03:10:55 PM
Nope, I would recommend AMD though. You can get a AM3 board+dual core for $100.
409  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much would you pay for a 5870? on: June 13, 2011, 03:08:50 PM
I would sell them for real market bitcoin price +10% to equal out for price fluctuations. They are almost impossible to find now, and on ebay, they go for 400+USD
410  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: Selling Apple iPhone 4 (16GB, white, new & unlocked) for 17 BTC!! Last offer!! on: June 13, 2011, 06:36:21 AM

If you don't provide what I asked...

There you go Smiley

17 BTC anybody?

What the hell is that image supposed to show??
411  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mixing Graphics Cards 4650 and 5830? on: June 13, 2011, 06:01:03 AM
You can only run 2 different cards if their in the same series, IE 5xxx or 6xxx
The problem is that every different series of card uses a different architecture, 40nm,50nm, ect and the drivers simply don't support 2 of those cards working together
412  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Too late to start mining? on: June 13, 2011, 05:53:10 AM
At this point, I would reccomend using 6000 series cards. The 5000 series cards will lose ALOT of value if the bitcoin ever fails. The 6000 series can still be used as a gaming card

How many bitcoins would you pay?
414  Other / Beginners & Help / How much would you pay for a 5870? on: June 13, 2011, 03:25:09 AM
I can get them at about 15 cards per week. How much would you pay?

I want to bulk order, but need to know the current market price.

UGH! Whats that smell? Oops, I just landed in a bullshit thread
416  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Stable pricing algorithm? on: June 11, 2011, 06:38:57 PM
I would take the rate from the previous week, and the average rate from the current week, average those 2, and then get a good average.
417  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Hash rate falls while streaming Netflix on: June 11, 2011, 05:33:04 AM
Well, mining takes 99% of the GPU, so when you stream netflix, you are using about 30% of the gpu, hence the fall in mh/s
418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: GPU Heat Level Utility on: June 11, 2011, 05:31:29 AM
You would need some kind of way to connect data from computer 2 and 3 to computer 1. I would recommend a mass of fan controllers and temperature probes, all can be found at frozencpu.com
419  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 5k series instead of 6k? on: June 11, 2011, 05:29:09 AM
Well if I had to choose between a 5870 and a 6950, I would go with the 6950. It is the same price, and IF bitcoin ever fails, you can just resell the parts for a minimal loss. Also, in regular computing (F@H/gaming) the 6950 is about 35% faster than a 6950.
420  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 1 Bitcoin for the one that solves my problem! on: June 10, 2011, 05:28:54 PM
-re-seat the GPU
-Use only 1 stick of ram, try all sticks
-check motherboard for red lights
-try different PCI-e connectors
-if you can, try different slots
-if you can try another GPU, if that one works, you will have to RMA the 5870
-You can also try and tell me the bios beep error, that will always tell you exactly whats wrong, you will just need to consult the mobo's manual
