401  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup [HD] on: May 26, 2014, 06:06:47 AM
That would seem to be an over current condition.  The change of a few degrees shouldnt be enough to melt the plastic on the fuse unless you notice that the case is getting really hot.  Then you should check that the fan is running.  Dogie has some info about reversing the fan for better air flow but i would suspect that the fan is not running and thats what is causing the build up of heat,  the other option would be that the socket for the fuse is loose and causing high resistance.  Was there a good amount of resistance when you replaced the fuse?

If ever a Bitmain customer needs help call the help line at 844-BIT-MAIN

http://dcmco-op.com/?ref=Drizzik  fully endorses BITMAIN..  No Lazy Ants Here!!!

Fan was running when I found the fuse like that. Could have stopped at some point and started again? I had trouble pulling the fuse out and had to use pliers to get it out.  I had all the power disconnected at the time.  It was also difficult to push the new fuse in.

I thought this was weird though.  I plugged the miner back in without the fuse and the fan kicked on. Didn't mine though.  I turned it back off and put the fuse in. It started mining.  Is that normal?
402  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup [HD] on: May 26, 2014, 05:11:18 AM
Weird. I checked in on my cube today and found the fuse all melted, still worked though.  Then this thread shows up in my "Show new replies to your posts."

Here is  pic of the fuse, sorry about it being blurry, my phone takes crap pics while zoomed:

I've had it plugged in since the beginning of February. It's the only one I have running in a room and it has decent ventilation.  Not 100% sure how long it's been like that, I check on it regularly though.  It did get a little warm last week for a few days it was around 26-29 degrees Celsius (79-84F), could that have caused it?

I replaced the fuse and have been checking on it every hour or so and all seems to be fine.  What could have caused it? Should I be concerned with the health of the miner?

About $50 a month.

I play ~$100 / month for 50/5. Meh.

I pay $60 a month for 25 MBPS download speed. It comes with a cap of 250 GB of data a month.

Ouch, guessing New Zealand or Australia?

SHAW Cable in Canada. The prices here are ridiculous for internet.  There are other internet providers here, but I've found SHAW most reliable.

This is the site, if you want to take a look at the option we have here: http://www.shaw.ca/internet/

I agree that shaw is the fastest internet but Telus tends to offer specials now and then that undercut them
That said between telus and shaw
Shaw is faster but Telus can be as reliable and cheaper
However if we compare it to this place called Olds Alberta it helps me to realize how ripped off we are in mobile internet and phone services
http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/small-alberta-town-gets-massive-1-000-mbps-broadband-boost-1.1382428

Well that's just sickening, LOL!

I've been thinking about switching to Telus on and off for a while now, but I've had really bad experiences with them in the past.  Shaw has raised my rates twice over the past 12 months and I've got nothing extra in return.  We do get bent over a f'd dry here in Canada when it comes to cell and internet.  I mean, I pay $82 a month for my cell service, and that's with 250MB I think for data.  Oddly enough, I use Telus for that, LOL!

We definitely should have more options here i Canada. IN and around Vancouver we have 2 option for TV/Internet, Shaw and Telus.  Cell options aren't much better. Telus, Rogers, and Bell.  The monopolies need to end!

shits really going down hill isn't

The video is unavailable apparently.  Could you explain a bit of the video or give me an idea about what it was about?

Shit really is going downhill though, not just in America either. Considering how many Americans are stocking up on guns and ammo, they know it's only a matter of time.  Even here in Canada, people are buying guns and ammo in record numbers.

The current system is broken and needs radical change.

I spend about 4-5 hours per day...

Initially when I came into this thread I thought it was going to be about how much money I spend a month.  Anyways, on the topic of hours per day, way too much time these days as I'm off work.  These days I spend around 10-12 hours a day, not constant surfing, but it's in front of me while I do other stuff live watch TV and look for work.

When I'm employed, I'll surf the net maybe 3-4 hours.  I don't believe in surfing the web while I am working. No one should be surfing the web on someone elses dime, unless it's actually your job to surf the web.

If there is a job out there to get paid for surfing the web though, sign me up!

408  Other / Off-topic / Re: TV Series Recommendations... on: May 26, 2014, 03:22:38 AM
Is The Big Band Theory worth a watch? It has got 7 seasons.Sadly its not on Netflix.Have to download if its worth.

I think it is.  I didn't really watch it when it first came out because I didn't find it appealing, but my gf watches it, so I started catching episodes with her.  It's really funny and is good for a laugh.  Their ineptness when it comes to women is really hilarious and pathetic all at the same time, LOL!

It was just names the best scripted series on TV: http://nypost.com/2014/05/25/big-bang-theory-named-tvs-top-scripted-series/

Chuck Lorre definitely knows how to create great TV

You don't necessarily have to download them.  You can watch TV shows on Project Free TV.  Some people have had issues with viruses on the site apparently, but personally, I haven't had any issues in over a year of using it..  Like any web site, just use common sense.

I don't know why I looked up this...

Deep fried pizza

Haggis pizza

I tried looking for a deep fried haggis pizza but started feeling sick looking at haggis...

It's minging.

People deep fry pizza... *barf*

It's no wonder that obesity has spiked in some places over the past few years.  Some of the deep fried food concoctions look absolutely disgusting!  Why deep fry something that is already really unhealthy for you?  I just don't get it.

I'd probably teleport myself to England. It's one place I've always wanted to go and my Dad lived there back in the early 70's  I have a bunch of his old letters and postcards he sent back, could be interesting to see if I could find any of his old friends or places that he worked.
411  Other / Off-topic / Re: What video games do you play? on: May 23, 2014, 09:30:54 AM
Thanks to my girlfriend, I'm not addicted to Candy Crush. Well, not addicted addicted, but I play it pretty much everyday now.

I'm really starting to rethink out relationship.   Grin

Nothing will change.

The nature is harsh and competition is the only way to preserve "desire" trait of human/species.

Natural selection is just doing its job to weed out the inflexible.

I disagree, we are bubble wrapping the planet to cater to idiots.  We need to take the safety devices off and let nature run its course. I agree that nothing will change though.  Humans are too greedy of a species.

We are quickly hitting a point of no return. Every species has an expiration date, and lets face it, humans are starting to smell.
413  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 6 New Bitcoin ATMs And Where To Find Them on: May 23, 2014, 08:03:25 AM
Great news. Even more Bitcoin ATMs in Canada. The Canadians are way ahead of the rest!

BTW.... if anyone want to locate a Bitcoin ATM, use this map:

http://bitcoinatmmap.com/

Thanks for the link. Looks like there are a lot more bitcoin atm's in Canada than I thought.  Looks like there are 17 of them. Government for the most part has stayed out of it here in Canada so far, but they are promising to crack down on it.

The Prime Minister here is a bit of an idiot though, he's still against the legalization of marijuana even though a lot of the top cops are looking the other way since they have better things to do than bust pot users. So I could really see him try and stop bitcoin.  After a certain point though, I don't think he will be able to.
414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 6 New Bitcoin ATMs And Where To Find Them on: May 23, 2014, 07:32:00 AM
Check out 6 New Bitcoin ATMs And Where To Find Them on Coinbrief!

Sean found some of the most recent Bitcoin ATMs, who is installing them, and where they are.  One of them also supports Litecoin and Dogecoin!  Since people on the subreddit seemed to like it, I thought I would bring it here  Grin

WOW! Now Saskatoon has got in on it, that's cool!  We have an atm in downtown Vancouver, it was the first bitcoin atm to open in the world

There are machines in Ottawa, Toronto, Halifax, Montreal as well that I know of.  Canada so far has really embraced bitcoin. Many have stated that Canada will be The Silicon Valley of bitcoin.
415  Other / Off-topic / Re: How long do you think it'll be before you eat your first synthetic steak? on: May 23, 2014, 04:28:24 AM
I'm not pushing the vegetarian agenda, but surely there are more efficient ways to produce meat than big, smelly megafarms that treat animals like disposable widgets. Like this one. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2014/05/140521-synthetic-cultured-lab-meat-pig-backyard-food-science

I may try it down the road if it was offered as a free sample, but I doubt I'd ever buy and eat a synthetic steak.  Not all farms treat their animals like crap.  There is a farm about 2 hours from where I live and they supply my local meat store.

It costs a little more for their meat, but I know that its 100% local. They are raised from birth on the farm until they are slaughtered and butchered on site. The farm has really high standards and even offers tours of their facility so people can see for themselves how the animals are treated.
416  Other / Off-topic / Re: IF YOU HAD 1,000,000 DOLLARS WHAT WOULD YOU BUY??? on: May 23, 2014, 03:29:02 AM
why should you buy stuff when you can produce it?

create a company, generate income

1 000 000$ is nothing..

Depends on how old you are really.  If you're really young, you're right, 1M is nothing.  I'm 37, I could easily retire on 1M I figure with the right investments.  Plus, it's not all that easy to just create a company and generate income.

I think I'd still probably work for a bunch of years though.  It would get awfully boring not working and when I'm bored I tend to spend lots of money.

Every time I see this thread pop up I instantly think of this song:

417  Other / Off-topic / Re: Spiders live or die? on: May 23, 2014, 02:29:38 AM
I generally don't kill spiders if I find them in the house, then again, around where I live there really isn't any spiders that can do any damage.  We do get the odd black widow, but I've never seen one in the house.

I used to get wolf spiders where I used to live, at least I think that's what they were.  They used to creep me out, they get pretty big and you could hear them run across the floor.

Just leave them be for the most part.  If they infest you're house though, it's a whole new ball game and I'd be calling an exterminator asap.
418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin-pizza day on: May 23, 2014, 01:39:50 AM
That pizza looks disgusting.  I bet they do the same as Pizza Hut.  Pour oil in the pan and let the dough proof for a few hours while it soaks up the oil.  Then as they cook it, it soaks up the rest.

For me, it's definitely got to be thin crust. If you're ever in Vancouver, you gotta give this place a try:  http://www.pizzagarden.ca/

They don't take bitcoin, but they make some of the best pizza I've ever ate.

I don't know how others feel, but these little "bidding wars" that some people are pushing for just cheapens the campaigns and as far as I'm concerned, just red flags us as a whole, and I see the sigs on this board getting eliminated altogether if these red flags keep popping up.

If this ever comes to happen (and Stunna with other benefactors fail to bribe the authorities here), this may mark the end of the forum. It will be a matter of a few days (if not hours) for a new, more signature loyal forum to pop up with the user base instantly migrating there... Cool

That's what people said about alt coin giveaways but this forum is still here and going strong. I'm sure lots will move over to a new forum but none of them have the userbase this one does, though that's not to say a bigger one could arise and banning sig campaigns certainly would help in that regard.

A more loyal sig campaign forum may show up, but how many users will migrate? Likely only the sig advertisers and a few other members. User base or not, forums survive on longevity.  Then again, myspace was crushed.

Users with paid-for signatures may not be the majority here, but evidently they are the most active ones on this forum (that's what ultimately matters), and with the financial and technical support from the sig advertisers, a new forum may quickly gather popularity... Cool

A new forum of who? Mostly sig advertisers. I'm sure it will gain other users, mostly ones that are there to make money or dupe accounts.  It may start out ok at first, but eventually, it will turn into a big circle jerk.  So to speak.
