402  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Government's actions against crypto on: June 13, 2023, 01:39:33 PM
Oh well this is just another one of those big FUD days you know? Good time to short and buy low when you are doing DCA with BTC or ETH.

Let them be. Maybe we’re still in a big storm but it will come to pass. If the US are so strict regarding crypto, then Asia is wide open and the US SEC has nothing to do about it nor having the jurisdiction to stop these companies from operating elsewhere.

Or maybe the US SEC boys out there are just doing it on purpose to manipulate the market and buy when the everything calms down. Hmmmm……
403  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Gcash Down? Unauthorized Transactions on: May 09, 2023, 05:49:35 AM
As per latest update, they have a system glitch daw.

Here is their official statement from their official Facebook page:

This has caused major concerns sa mga GCash users in terms of security. Because of this, I strongly believe na bumaba na ang confidence nila to store their funds and do transactions sa GCash.

I have checked mine recently and so far luckily as ease lang balance ko. Kaya I do not store much money sa kanila as well as Paymaya, banks, etc.

Much better sa hardware wallet na lang i store to be safe talaga ating hard earned money. Dito ko na store emergency funds ko eh just in case ma hack ako sa isang wallet, multiple wallets, etc. Ginawa ko lang naman ang GCash, Paymaya at banks as cashout source and not to save.
404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investing doesn't guarantee you to be rich on: May 08, 2023, 09:45:14 PM
Exactly it is, straight to the point. Nothing here in the world of Bitcoin and crypto is gonna guarantee or promise us anything in terms of profits if you are expecting to be rich after investing.

The market is very unpredictable. Without warning, it can go up or down anytime even harder. See to it that you are well-equipped in managing your risks, especially when you do DCA (dollar-cost averaging) with Bitcoin.

Only spend an amount that you can afford to lose.
405  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your favorites altcoins these days? on: May 07, 2023, 02:11:39 PM
If I was not hacked last time, I would go for Ethereum. For now, I only have Bitcoin and the rest are just stablecoins and altcoins with either little to no value.

I learned my lesson the hard way which complacency and greediness are my biggest enemies. So the next time I am going to DCA with Ethereum, I will be using my hardware wallet.

The rest of the top altcoins are either short or mid term only. Ain’t a fan of meme coins.
406  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Staking really great way in crypto wealth on: May 07, 2023, 01:57:19 PM
Staking when price fall you just buy more and put in to staking once price goes up you don't need to sell it you continue to staking so after u earn more.
The new feature on exchangers the EARN could be one of the best ways to earn income some of them Even no lock up or little as 14 days.
No liquitation risk and you sleep well newbie friendly method..instead of trading off course If you know what you doing trading good Also but staking Are great one.

I don’t know why you’re putting this topic in the trading section? How can staking be trading to you? This should be moved to an appropriate section maybe Altcoin Discussion.

As for staking, it is a double-edged sword method for me. Either you can make or break. Depending on the platform’s APY on the preferred coin or token that you are going to stake, there are no promises or astronomical guaranteed returns on its value after the staking ends.

Although the tokens you are expecting after a certain period of time are “guaranteed”, but the value itself isn’t due to the continuous volatility and very unpredictable. You may not know when it will go up or down without warning, so you better expect the unexpected in the end.
407  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Rip localbitcoins.com on: May 06, 2023, 05:23:24 PM
I have never used LocalBitcoins.com for P2P but I knew that they have been here for so long. It’s the OG of the P2P crypto trading (but correct me if I am wrong). It’s just unfortunate that they have to close because of the declining number of traders in using their platform, so nothing is really permanent.

But there are still other P2P platforms from exchanges like Binance, KuCoin, OKX, ByBit, etc., that we can still use as of the moment.
408  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: More exchanges shutting down, Hold your Asset with You on: May 05, 2023, 05:41:05 PM
I got the motivation to write on this from Recent events should make you withdraw all your coins to your own wallet: Part 3 when i came across the news on crypto exchanges shutdown in Ukraine, if you're still using a centralized exchange, then read about this recent event happening in Ukraine as the US Cyber security Personnels bring down about nine (9) cryptocurrency exchanges for lack of being regulated along with other deformities in compliance to the government policy for their operations https://news.bitcoin.com/ukraine-us-shut-down-9-cryptocurrency-exchanges/ come to think of it if you have your bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency with any of this exchanges, all will definitely go lost because you have no access to control over them, this makes it ore very crucial and paramount that we make use of crypto wallet that gives us control over the private keys to the wallet we are use.

Why you should avoid Centralized exchange

1. They can be attacked by hackers
2. Your privacy is not guaranteed in them
3. They are third party/centralized institutions and work policies for their own interest
4. You will be subjected to KYC, AML and other governments cyber operational agencies
5. You can be traces and tracked down through the information provided for your KYC
6. They have same functions and disadvantage as using a centralized financial institutions (banks).
7. They can go bankrupt and you loose your entire investment with them

Recommendations for the storage of your cryptocurrency assets

1. I will recommend an Open Source Hardware Wallets, find below some good examples below from threads created and discussed on the forum here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5288971.0

2 . Bitcoincore is very good for your security measures over your asset and you can connect the software to run bitcoin node, for more details, check the link below
https://bitcoin.org/en/bitcoin-core/

Additional informations on these are high welcome from experienced members of this community.

“Not your keys, not your coins”

I have said this many times in either of my threads and replies. I keep most of my assets in a cold storage hardware wallet where it’s impossible to be hacked.

But for non-custodial hot wallets like the Metamask, Trust Wallet, etc., they still have some vulnerabilities and exploits that leads to the hackers finding backdoor to drain our assets without even using the seed phrase to access our wallets. So it is also not safe to store there much longer either.

Better invest in a hardware wallet like the Ledger Nano, Trezor, SafePal, etc.
409  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin trading be my sole source of income? on: May 05, 2023, 05:30:33 PM
As a young person, I am overwhelmed by my curiosity in trading Bitcoin, but I'm not sure if it is appropriate for me to resign my white collar work and return to trading exclusively Bitcoin.

This was a conversation a buddy of mine and I had yesterday, and I felt compelled to bring it to this illustrious platform for the best types of advice and counsel.

Is it safe for a Bitcoin trader to quit their jobs and focus solely on Bitcoin trading if they can devote their time and attention to maximize the benefits in the Bitcoin world?

I hate to say this but making Bitcoin trading as your only sole source of income is not a good idea. You know the reason why? Bitcoin is volatile and unpredictable and you may not know when it will go up or down without warning.

You cannot command Bitcoin to go up or down the next minute, hour, day or so. It is decided by the buyers and sellers worldwide.

You can just make this as a side hustle and only spend an extra amount that you can afford to lose. Never go all-in with your salary or life savings if you want to get in to Bitcoin trading.
410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The fall of crypto influencers. on: May 04, 2023, 10:19:31 AM
I made a post about crypto influencers not that long ago talking about how people still trust them despite all the cringe and stupid stuff they post.
In the the last post, after reading your comments, I came to conclusion that most of the people who follow crypto influencers are:
1) Normies (or lazy people who don't want to do research and want to follow trend)
2) Bots
3) Bitcoin uneducated people

I think the third category is the most interesting one because I don't know how long it will exist considering what is happening with Bitcoin right now.
We can see that there are more and more programs about Bitcoin awareness and crypto education. More people are getting interested in what bitcoin/crypto actually is. And one of the signs of Bitcoin adoption is the promotion of Bitcoin education.

I think in the next few years, influencers can lose their "influence" over uneducated people because they're gonna be fewer and fewer of these people on the internet. And I don't think that bots and normies are sustainable audiences so I think influencers will see a hard time soon.

And overall, bitcoin education will decrease people's need for influencers simply because they will already have all the knowledge needed and all these Twitter posts about "PUMP IS COMING" will sound pretty stupid. And you shouldn't be the most educated person to see it. And it's pretty obvious that all these Twitter people post specifically for people who don't have a good knowledge about crypto because most of these posts are just basics and hype.

So what do you think?
Will we finally see the fall of influencers or there still will be enough stupid people to follow their advice?

Until now, most of the subscribers, fans and followers of some certain “influencers” that you’ve mentioned are uneducated, misinformed and has lack of understanding as they we’re just too prone of the “hype”.

As they are prone, they just simply go buy this and buy that without questioning at all, not having second opinions, no hesitancy and not doing their own research plus lack of proper risk management.

Some of my contacts until now are still having that mindset. As a result, they stumbled on the same stone not learning their lessons about the losses that they have suffered because of the “financial or investment advice” being made by the so-called “crypto influencers”.

But of course not all of them are like that. There are some who are realistic and more on education rather than hyping their subscribers. I respect them more than those influencers who are saying like “Bitcoin will go 100x next year, bla bla bla, etc.”.
411  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you still hunt for airdrops? on: May 04, 2023, 10:10:36 AM
People already make thousands of dollars through airdrops, the latest one is Arbitrum, I am sure that metamask and zksync will follow, some are testnet tasks while others are just the same old ways of participation, I think the best time to engage in airdrops is now, we will see many new projects releasing their tokens this year into 2024, do not sleep on these projects .

1. LayerZero
2. Quai Protocol
3. Sei Network
4. Sui Protocol.
5. Zksync
6. Metamask.

So far ARB and SUI have been booming for this year alone along with PEPE.

I have seen some of my friends who have been celebrating their wins in these coins being mentioned. Although most of the airdrops are not guaranteed or having promise for us to earn these coins or tokens, but as the old saying goes, nothing happens in our lives without trying or risking at all whether if it works or not.

I already began with Venom blockchain and almost completing the tasks. It’s just that the Venom bridge has a problem where I am struggling to connect my EVM wallet via Walletconnect to bridge testnet Venom to the other chains.

I am also looking into LayerZero but I don’t know if I am already too late with that. So far no snapshot date being announced yet. I guess I should try them out despite the risks of no guarantees if it’s worth my time and money or a waste.
412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop comparing BTC to FIAT. FIAT is dying every single day. on: May 03, 2023, 01:33:01 PM
As long they keep printing more fiat, we keep experiencing more inflation like the case of Venezuela’s currency.

Although that fiat may not cease to exist anytime soon or in many decades, centuries, etc., the value against USD keeps declining over and over that would really create problems for the economy and our way of living.

Fiat’s fundamentals are different than Bitcoin’s. BTC is not likely going to be a reserve currency and a replacement of the US dollar. Both fiat and Bitcoin can co-exist because of its different use cases.
413  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are Promo offers from Twitter Influencers Scam ore serious offers? on: May 03, 2023, 01:23:46 PM
No disrespect to Twitter influencers, but most of them are hard shillers without doing their homework. They do not even warn their followers about the risks, DYOR, etc.

Same thing with Youtube, Tiktok and other social media platforms. When the projects rugs, they immediately deleted all of the posts related to that project and pretending that they did not promote it.

But not all of them can escape like the case of FTX where a number of celebrities, athletes, etc., are promoting it without doing their due diligence.

I am not saying that all of them are like that, but there are a handful who are just being careful on what they are promoting whether if they are NFTs, GameFi, etc.
414  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Venom Token Potential Reward For Early TestNet Users - Guide on: May 02, 2023, 08:30:52 PM
...I don’t mind taking the risk in spending time doing the testnet. I just wanted to have a learning experience on what it’s like to do these tedious testnet tasks...

You should definitely try it, especially since it does not lead to a loss of money on the commission, since all interactions are performed in the test network, with the exception of one quest. And if you decide to participate, then do not forget to receive a daily airdrop of test coins - https://venom.network/faucet

Yes I am doing it already during my spare time but I did missed out the bonus offers from the "Earn more VENOM" like the Discord, etc., and I only have like daily quiz only where I can get 5 testnet VENOM tokens if I get the correct answer.

As of now, I am trying out their bridge and DEX platform in the testnet. So far, I have successfully minted 2 NFTs already and still got long ways to go though.

Although this is time consuming but kinda fun thing to do whether if you're a newbie or a seasoned beta tester because of the potential rewards when their mainnet launches.
415  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can we help to Bitcoin education? on: May 01, 2023, 06:03:19 PM
Imagine if there was a thing, what thing? I don't know, just imagine a thing that people could store value, just like gold, and at the same time they could exchange this thing among everyone on earth without depending of any trusted partier. This thing is also limited just like gold, and it is so limited that there is only 21 millions available, but it is not a problem because you can buy literally only $1 dollar of it in seconds. There is no way you can just print more of this thing because there are thousands of copies of every single transactions all around the world. And there are also thousands and thousands of people that are building around this thing, discovering new technologies, searching for possible fails and improving it, writing about it, teaching about it, well..

Bitcoin is the thing.

Any ideas to spread the Bitcoin education to the world?

I'm making a YouTube channel to simplify Bitcoin for beginners, and also making daily threads on Twitter.

Check my new thread - "Bitcoin simplified for beginners" and give me feedback:
https://twitter.com/bit4uYT/status/1652713706738921472

So you are indirectly shilling your Twitter thread and your Youtube channel's empty? I'm just curious. Are you a Bitcoin maxi or what?

Dude there's tons of information that the newbies can find here on Bitcointalk and in the internet, so I don't know how would your upcoming content stand out? Are you even thinking outside of the box?

Sorry but I'm trying to be realistic here as there are tons of information regarding Bitcoin for beginners. Unless if you're very creative and not a "boring" content creator, then you might have a chance.
416  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Venom Token Potential Reward For Early TestNet Users - Guide on: April 30, 2023, 12:18:15 PM
Some of my friends on Facebook are already posting their Venom testnet stats and I am about to begin doing the tasks.

I don’t mind taking the risk in spending time doing the testnet. I just wanted to have a learning experience on what it’s like to do these tedious testnet tasks.

If they do airdrop as promised and the token goes full blast, that would just be a bonus for me and I would be extra grateful.
417  Economy / Reputation / Re: Someone's using my video as bounty entry without my permission or consent on: April 30, 2023, 09:07:00 AM

OP, if you want to, you can change the thread title from "someone" to "Apt2022" so anyone taking a glance at topic list on this board would get a better understanding of the situation. Second, though I am not sure how he can get out of this situation, I also advised you to at least invite Apt2022 to this thread by PMing him, so he can defend himself or give his side of story. It's an ethical thing to do.

Yes, I think it's better to name that guy and send the manager this link to ban him from the campaign I don't think he can defend his action because he has a history of cheating and ban evasion, it's intentional.
He followed Cheezcarl's channel and beat him to the registration he register ahead of Cheezcarl so there is an intention to cheat but if the manager always checks the details he'll find out that the submission does not belong to the cheater, I hope the manager is good when it comes to details.

Yup I already did now and still no word or action from the bounty manager. His entry is still there untouched or unedited by the bounty manager. I have yet to receive a reply from him either. Also informed the JOT Art team about this and will keep following them up.

Still wondering if the bounty manager is willing to cooperate on this matter. More than 12 hours have passed and still not checking this issue. Hopefully he's not gonna ignore this.

I would rate his history as spamming and maybe he deserves to be temp banned for doing this, but some members maybe don't agree with me and this is not mentioned anywhere in forum rules.

Not only just his post, the account in question here is also Evading a ban.

So it's an Alt account of his for ban evasion because of using the same address as the one got banned.
418  Economy / Reputation / Re: Someone's using my video as bounty entry without my permission or consent on: April 29, 2023, 07:14:10 PM
In my own opinion, it is not up to you to tag him with a negative trust, what I think you should do is what you have done, and that is reporting him the bounty manager, is it up to the bounty manager to tag him with a negative trust, and if necessary, ban him from participating in future bounties..

So what I will advice is that, you wait for response from the bounty manager, he is the one to handle the case in the best way, you can tag the user later, but wait for bounty manager to tag him first plus take other necessary action on him.

So you want me to remove my tag and let the bounty manager handle the situation first?

It's just your opinion right? Coz' I have already tagged the user as it is not acceptable for me whether bounty or no bounty that he is taking advantage of my content that is not his and claiming it as his own entry without permission or consent.

The bounty manager doesn't have reputation either if he is willing to cooperate with me on this issue or not.

I will also try reaching out the Jot Art team themselves who have connections with the bounty manager to attend to this important matter.
419  Economy / Reputation / Re: Someone's using my video as bounty entry without my permission or consent on: April 29, 2023, 05:34:04 PM
You did the right thing by contacting the campaign manager and informing him about this.
What I find interesting, though, is that the accused user Apt2022 posted his POA one day before you post yours and according to the timestamp field on the campaign spreadsheet he submitted his entry one day before you do!
Where did he get the link to the YouTube video from?

Anyway, all you need to do is to prove to the cm that you are the real owner of the YouTube channel (which isn't hard to do) and, hopefully, he will reject the other user's submition.

At first I did not know there was a bounty program for JOT because I was too busy with a lot of important stuff.

I did made and uploaded the video without any knowledge of the bounty because of a separate KOL deal (which ultimately turned out that the deal did not continue) until I have found this thread myself. So when I have checked the spreadsheet entry I am surprised that Apt2022 used my video without my permission or consent.

Yes I have already sent my proof to him that I am the legitimate owner of this video because of my POA placed in my Youtube description. I am still waiting for him to take action, maybe he's asleep.

I'll just wait and see then. But for now I'll give Apt2022 a negative tag to catch his attention.

Plagiarism and copyright infringement is something that we cannot tolerate nowadays.

There's no way I'll be removing the negative tag and it's gonna be permanent to teach him a lesson that he'll never forget. Even if he says sorry or apologize, the damage has been done and I'm not changing my mind.
420  Economy / Reputation / Apt2022 using my video as bounty entry without my permission or consent on: April 29, 2023, 04:27:10 PM
This guy Apt2022 is using my video without permission or consent for the Jot Art bounty.

He is the first entrant in the Youtube spreadsheet but using my own video link.

Check here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1t3SXlN5jK6phPh6MR-UacHAEGBdpt1nUJvv9BPoJbkg/edit#gid=297937312

This is Apt2022's POA: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5450276.msg62162859#msg62162859

This is my POA: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5450276.msg62168670#msg62168670

As you can see, his proof of authentication does not match with my Youtube video's description.

I have reported him to the bounty manager BF-Fi but still waiting for response as they do not have a Telegram group for this bounty.

Do you think we should give him a negative tag for using my content without permission? Coz' this is unacceptable considering my time and effort in doing this content.

Thanks!
