401  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: mmpool.org - 1.5% fee DGM/PPS - tx fees/vardiff/merge mine/tor on: January 31, 2023, 06:16:16 PM
An update on mmpool closing passed on in Kano's Discord room https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/691838852985520148/1070036494913380433/IMG_20230131_124018.jpg
It can of course also be found at the mmpool website.
402  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon A1166 continuously reboots BOOTBY 0x10.80028DD4 [solved] on: January 30, 2023, 11:51:50 PM
It seems that chart is dead because I also get this DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN
It should be accessible and show the code inside that link.

According to the link below
- https://code.highcharts.com/

They do have the updated/latest one so possibly the firmware you currently using still has that dead chart. So the solution to this is to upgrade your firmware or ignore this issue because the main issue is solved.
Ja. For whatever reason Canaan uses highcharts as a 3rd party cloud service provider to generate the charts.. Why? Who knosw. It not like aren't scores of free libs to do that on the miner cpu... I usually disable charts because I don't like sending data to 3rd parties for no reason...

404  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Antminer S19JPro 122T on: January 28, 2023, 08:30:26 PM
It was sent to me by a broker who said it was provided to them by Bitmain. From what I can see, it’s not suitable for home mining with the supplied cable, unless you have a PDU at home.
Even more to the point - the cable is NOT listed by any organization. The connectors and wire by themselves are but NOT them being used together.

And for good reason: That C19 connector is only rated for a MAX of 20A, Bitmain specs the miner as 25A max and even the more normal 20A it would pull using a 277v line is pushing that C19 very hard.... Idiots.
405  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Antminer S19JPro 122T on: January 27, 2023, 01:28:30 PM
If that one from Anderson is it that would make perfect sense. With the miner pulling up to 25A even Bitmain would not spec the connector to be just 25A. One rated for 30A gives a perfect reserve safety margin and that Anderson plug/socket are a much smaller size than industrial IEC ones.
406  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Antminer S19JPro 122T on: January 27, 2023, 01:59:36 AM
I found that Anderson Power makes a connector line that looks closer to what BM has https://www.andersonpower.com/us/en/shop/2350-1300-20-saf-d-gridr-300-single-ended-t-latch-plug-power-cord.html and looking on Amazon they are a fair bit cheaper than the IEC industrial connectors I linked to earlies but of course w/o knowing what BM uses, who knows...
407  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Antminer S19JPro 122T on: January 26, 2023, 11:31:01 PM
Ja. Given the current most connectors are definitely into the industrial range vs anything else. thing is, next step up from 20A is 30A is connectors like these from AutomationDirect
Being industrial rated products - $$$
408  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Antminer S19JPro 122T on: January 26, 2023, 09:33:22 PM
Yup. Considering Bitmain has not seen fit to tell anyone just *what kind* of connector I suspect that it is a custom one made for BM that the user has to wire to a cord themselves. If so the miner damn well had better come with it and BM needs to have them for sale at least as spares.

If it is a custom then it's terrible idea considering that there are many global-standard connectors that would fit the bill. If it *is* a standard connector then huge oversight for BM to not put the spec into their datasheet/sales ad.
409  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: any USB data hub with 5amp (25W) per usb port? on: January 26, 2023, 06:17:07 PM
I was just seeing what USB hub would be best for Compac F miner if I need to overclock it to the max feasible.
Currenlty I ordered
https://bitcoinmerch.com/products/gekkoscience-8-port-usb-hub-2-0
That's the best one available for powering the F's and really the only one that will allow you to run the Compac-F to it's true potential. Do read through the Compac-F thread for details on what folks have done with it.

In terms of graphics cards, the most powerful options for mining Bitcoin are the Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series, which are built with the latest technology and offer high computational performance. They are also energy-efficient and generate less heat, which is important in a mining rig.

Folks, how many times must it be said here: -- VIDEO CARDS ARE BEYOND USELESS FOR MINING BTC.
Can they be used? For shits & grins general farting around for fun, yes. Just do not expect to ever make any money using them. Unless you happen to be very very very very very very lucky and hit a solo mining lotto you will be losing money by trying to mine BTC with video cards.
411  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: any USB data hub with 5amp (25W) per usb port? on: January 26, 2023, 03:20:14 PM
No - sorta...
1st: USB-A ports are only rated for continuous current of 750ma although that has been upped to 3.1A for Battery Charging applications, even for BC the connectors are designed with the assumption that the higher current is for a limited time - not 24x7.

Can you push more through them? If done with care by making sure that there is air flow over the connectors and you keep an eye on them to catch problems then yes...

The ONLY hubs that supported up to 6A from any 1 port was Sidehack's original Gekko hub. They had 3 pairs of ports, each pair fed from a 6A regulator and yes, some folks have pushed then very hard with over 5A from them. Folks also fried connectors by doing that...
The latest Gekko hubs now use 1 very large regulator with each port being fed through a 3.2A resettable PTC fuse.

In short: If you want to push that much current into a USB device it is far far better to NOT use the USB connector for power and instead directly wire power to the device.
412  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Issue with Blockheader from Stratum Data on: January 25, 2023, 08:33:11 PM
A better place to ask this in in the Bitcoin Technical Support area of the Forum. This area is mainly for hardware support, not coding.
413  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Hosted versus mining pool on: January 25, 2023, 03:21:42 PM
Hosting and joining a pool are not mutually exclusive. Hosting simply means that you have the miners located elsewhere that is out of your immediate control. Any host should damn well let you point the miners at whatever pool you want to use!

Any host that requires you to use a specific pool no doubt receives a kickback for each miner pointed there from the pool operators...
414  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Air conditioning and miners on: January 25, 2023, 02:03:42 PM
It's not so much that AC is 'bad' for electronics. It is *how* they are used and how much humid air is being exchanged from outside as well.
>Never have the cold air directly blowing onto equipment. That can often cause condensation if the humidity in the room is too high.

>If available use AC systems that are designed for cooling equipment - not rooms. They are built to higher standards than consumer/commercial air conditioners which are made for cooling rooms & buildings. More to the point, true cabinet coolers are designed to cool enclosed ares that have a high heat input from the hardware being ran. That setup results in a regular AC either never shutting off or short-cycling where it turns off for a minute or so and the then the rapidly rising temperature forces it to turn on again. That is very hard on the compressor.

Equipment cabinet coolers operate differently and cycle the compressor between cooling and a bypass mode which does not damage the compressor.
415  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ShhPool: Privacy and Profitability on: January 25, 2023, 01:26:55 PM
The last I will add here is that this really belongs in the more general Development & Technical Discussion area - not here. At least there you would not be multiposting to yourself and may even get someone else interested in it.

What you are trying to do is *not* merged mining. Merged mining is coins that are recorded as part of the main chain, eg namecoin information is recorded as part of the BTC blockchain. As others have said elsewhere that information is stored in the blocks' Coinbase header.

BCH is not part of the BTC chain. Bitmain & their cohorts created it as an independent fork that branched off of the BTC chain. Once they forked then the BTC & BCH blocks began following their own chains with neither having anything to do with the other.

What you are doing is essentially running 2 different pool nodes - one for BTC and one for BCH - with miners connecting to a pool front-end that time-shares sending the miners work from the 2 pool nodes; sometimes the work is for a BTC block, sometimes it is for a BCH block. The miners would not see that happening because unlike other 'follow the profits' algo switching schemes, what you are doing does not force the miner to switch to a different pool. The miner only see the 1 connection to your pool and the work you are sending it. The only way a miner would know that the miner is working on a BCH block would be if the folks look at the miner GUI and take note of the diff being set by your pool or use software to monitor diff and report major changes in it.
416  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ShhPool: Privacy and Profitability on: January 24, 2023, 02:32:40 PM
Pool is in maintenance mode in preparation for BCH testing.
In that case this topic belongs in the Altcoins areas -- not here in the BITCOIN ONLY areas.
Just because is sometimes mines BTC does not get around the fact that it also focuses on mining crapcoins....
417  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitcoin getwork pool? on: January 24, 2023, 12:35:00 PM
Hello,
Are there any getwork bitcoin pools?
No. That is a very old protocol that has been replaced by the far more bandwidth efficient stratum.
418  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What are the top Bitcoin miners right now on: January 23, 2023, 04:10:02 PM
The difference is that the hydro does not have the large cooling fans. Running at full speed each fan can easily draw 50-75w. That said, the hydro *does* need to use circulating pumps and fan cooled radiator(s) which are not part of the efficiency spec. When running just 1 or 2 of the miners it's a safe bet that after adding in the power for cooling system will it be nearly the same...
419  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin mining at home on: January 20, 2023, 03:53:10 PM
  - If you are planning to mine bitcoin at home, you should know that you need to buy a mining hardware. Similar to ASIC miner, but this device is quite expensive and can consume a lot of electricity...
Similar to ASIC  Huh
A Bitcoin miner is not 'similar to', it IS ASIC-based hardware such as sold by Canaan, Bitmain, MicroBT, GekkoScience, FutureBit, etc.
420  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I want to Mine Bitcoin on: January 14, 2023, 10:07:18 PM
...
You shouldn't be mining bitcoin right now; it was more profitable to do so a few years ago. Instead, you should invest in bitcoin by purchasing it when its price is low and holding onto it until its value increases later.
Right now, it's too late to mine bitcoin.
No it is NOT too late to mine BTC -- provided you have access to very cheap power. The only problem is that most folks have power that costs too much to do it profitably. Power costs have always been the limiting factor so nothing new there but until BTC prices go up it certainly has become more of an issue for most folks.
