401  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Between Betting Exchanges and Sportsbooks Which has a Profit Potential? on: March 23, 2024, 04:15:01 AM
Do you have the financial strength to stand against higher hands, if you don't then you should stick to the common sport booksmakers for your gambling as you will have a higher chance of making profits there with small stakes than betting exchanges. Unlike the traditional online gambling bet exchange are richly prone to tricks and the corruption of outcomes in the course of the events depending on what and who you bet against or for, which makes it for me a no favourable ground for small bettors like myself. These sought of character are very minimal with the common betting sites.
402  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin and it's holders in our society on: March 22, 2024, 02:05:45 PM
At this moment the Nigerian government are not against bitcoin or cryptocurrency as the ban against crypto in 2021 by the former administration has been lifted by this current administration, the problem is just with those corrupt law enforcement officers (the police) that are using their uniform to intimidate, harass and extort crypto hodlers and traders of their assets if they notice you are  dealing in the currency or peradventure they do an illegal stop and search and finds a crypto related app on your gadget then you're screwed as they will coerce and intimidate you into releasing your coins to them. And  they make sure all evidence to their trace are whipped off.

As crypto users finding yourself in this milieu it's imperative you take your privacy to any trace of cryptocurrency seriously, if it's by freezing your phone when going out or having a different gadget that's not about your crypto business/trading/holding etc. I am sure with time the government will take cases like this seriously so as to fish out such corrupt officers from the streets.
I would say that is not really unheard of anywhere else neither. Maybe not regards to crypto, it could be about something else, but "corrupt cop" is something as old as time, I have watched maybe like 100 movies where drug dealers end up paying bribery to cops, and cops look the other way and let the drug dealers do their business. This may not be related to crpto, but it is about corrupt cops and it's usually in the USA movies as well, and based on real life in most cases as well.

So as you can see, Nigerian cops could be corrupt and do this related to crypto, and I think that is sad, but every single nation in the world has corrupt cops that will take money from you in one way or another, that is sad but the reality.
Yeah, you are right there no single society with no corrupt cops but just that in some it's so glaring when compared to others, and a lot of them do it with so much impunity because the system is so filled with the corrupted than the good cops. Just as someone told me years ago that there's no form of illegal deals and actions going on successfully in any society that the cops aren't aware of or playing a role to it success. And it's the value of bitcoin today that have marshaled some of corrupt cops in the country to divert their disservice of illegality to the uniform they wear to crypto users and holders unlike years back it wasn't about crypto.
403  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Feelings on losing the match and the bet on: March 22, 2024, 08:28:50 AM
Are you sad that your team lost or are you actually sad you lost money? I hate losing when I make a bet, but no reason to get upset. You can bet again on the next game assuming you have the funds to make a bet. I think most people are going to be sad on losing the money more than their team losing.
I get equally sad for both the loss of my money and that of my favourite team am fond of, and as a fan it's quite easy to feel the two sides of the loss equally if you gamble responsibly by betting with money that you for anytime can afford to lose.

People mostly feel very sad about their the loss of their money for two reasons maybe, the money they spend on the betting for the team was much for them or it's either they don't really have any feeling of attachment to their supposed favourite team. Perhaps there is a stage in the competition that your favourite team has strived to get to, let say semi-final or finals stage and suddenly your team lost the game, as a fan somehow you will be touched by their loss even if you don't want to.
404  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Let's be more careful with local exchanges. on: March 22, 2024, 08:07:18 AM
Since Binance removed peer-to-peer (p2p) trading, many Nigerians have switched to other exchanges that still support it. Binance has been the go-to exchange for us Nigerians for a long time. However, when exploring new p2p exchanges, some have different trading patterns and fewer traders, increasing the risk of scams.
For a crypto user that values his asset, before having to use any exchange be it Dex or Cex it's important you would have read their operation policies like the ToS, which you have no excuse for not been in the knowing about it when you eventually shoot yourself in the toe.

I have read about people complaining of losing their funds because the amount of fund they deposited into the their account in the exchange they newly tried to use is below the exchange deposit limit and that was how that fund got lost to the exchange. But if they had read about deposit limit they won't have made that mistake.

On issue of p2p, the greed of a trader can land him/her into some loss even in a reputable exchange. There are exchange rate amount you see in a p2p trade that even without being told your instinct should tell you that that's a red flag when compared to all other rates. Then the percentage showing the trading record of the trader is another indicator of reputable trader. And most imperative, all exchange will always tell you, never send your coins if you haven't received and verified payment.
405  Other / Meta / Re: Is the Merit circulation on a downtrend yet Bitcoin is on an uptrend? on: March 22, 2024, 07:18:52 AM
Is merit spending becoming more and more scarce lately?
You will also see that the quality of posts not eligible for any reason can be applied for eligibility. If he applies, he is given a minimum of two merits from there.
You can share @fillippone [Merit]Share your best posts/threads with Fillippone to be assessed.

I think you understand man. thank you.
For your information unlike some of us not everyone will like to constantly share or apply on that @fillippone thread for his Quality post to be merited. And if you don't know, there are quality posts that have been summited there for over a month or two or even more if am not mistaken that haven't gotten merited and this is not because @fillippone is not attending to his thread on daily basis but because the number of submission per day exceeds him alone to deal with and as such takes a very long period of time for posts summited there to be merited.

And in most cases those posts could be there and still not get merited outside fillippone's thread. This sinto tell you that for a truth the number of members has exceeded distantly the number of merit sources in the forum and a need for new sources to be approved is now undeniably necessary. Just like someone above said, demand has greatly exceeds supply and Theymos need to look into this for an even circulation of merits across all boards.

407  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Olympic Games Paris 2024 - Discussion Thread on: March 21, 2024, 08:01:14 AM
I'm excited to be experiencing another Olympic tournament. It's been almost a decade since I followed the activities of an Olympic tournament. In recent times, I have followed up with happenings at the world cup (almost watched all the matches from the group stage) and most recently, the Afcon tournament that ended last month. However, I don't think I would watch any other sport apart from football. I might try to watch some other sport anywhere since there are varieties to pick from.

~Snipped.

Can't wait to watch all the football events as the competitions unfolds by April.

Isn't the competition supposed to be in July? Except it's other sports because the football season won't conclude until May for the premier league at least. I imagine other leagues will be around the same time or few weeks forward.

I can understand that there are indeed a lot of football fans in this forum alone. A lot of bettors as well. But most of the time, I would seriously bet when there are few teams left, not the the early betting lines. The chances are quite low as there are so many teams involved. But of course, it is fun watching those games and you will find out that you will be rooting for some particular teams other than your favourite team.
Generally, in every sports platforms football fans dominates the numbers as it's the sport's with the highest number of fans world wide. Betting on this tournament for me is going to be right from the beginning to the end as I believe it doesn't matter at what position or time of the tournament you come in with the bets if you are going to make a win from the games then nothing will stop you, perhaps that's your choice and I think think am cool with that for you.

I just do believe that the start of any competition or tournament is where bettors can have a better chance of winning games as those bookmakers just like the gamblers are only speculative of each teams ability to perform tremendously in the first games based on historical performance so it doesn't put them ahead of the gambler in terms of how they would want to twist the odds to deceive and confuse the gambler into falling into wrong predictions by looking at the odds given.

I don't know if you get what I mean. Grin
408  Other / Off-topic / Re: The more You gamble for money the more You become sad with Gambling on: March 21, 2024, 07:14:46 AM
What have your gambling for money experience brings to you, are you a sad gamblers that chase the money, and how have it been with you over the years, have you been able to make a profits that eradicate your sadness?
Majority of people that gambles do it for the prospect of making money out from it, and I don't condemn that if that's what they chose to ultimately make up of gamble neglecting the fun side, but what I don't support is when gambling is taking as a source of income that the gambler has to depend on it as a means to his financial ends. That is one main cause of gambling addiction because it breed loss chasing all of the times when such a person gambles making them  not knowing where and when to draw a line.

I enjoy the fun in gambling and also lurk in for the profit that could be made from a lucky win but as someone with some other reliable sources of income my pattern of gambling doesn't and can't make me a sad gambler even under a loss or a win because I don't take it as a source of living but as just some activity that by chance I can make money from it after a few reasonable loss.

Having a job is a panacea to loss chasing in gamble by gamblers because the very first reason gamblers chase losses is due to their acknowledgement of no hope of other means to get this money therefore if I lose it  now am going back to zero default which is why I need to chase those losses by all means necessary. But for a person that has a job, his mentality won't go in that direction. So a lack of job is really one of the main causes of loss chasing among gambler leading to addiction.
409  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: "Everyone" is all wrong about Bitcoin... on: March 21, 2024, 06:25:53 AM
It would be good to make good post than to make blatant nonsense. How can everyone be wrong about bitcoin? Even if you want to say everyone is wrong, you have to mention the type of people. Like on this forum we all know much about bitcoin. In fact, this forum was created for who are interested in bitcoin. It is better not to post at all than to post what is not necessary.

Sorry for disturbing you, but my opinion is that this would have been the very best argument in public and media. Wrong place to say so, OK. I get you.

Very best argument in what sense, as in what makes all you have written as a statement to deserve an argument close to average how much to be among the very best arguments in the forum. We are not here about which or what is the best argument, so it's imperative next time you want to raise an argument based on your opinion you add substantive letters backing it up and not to speak on a surface level and expect much from it.

You can't just use such a strong statement that everyone is wrong about bitcoin and you didn't state who or the categories of persons that are wrong and why.

If everyone is wrong then who's right to you because everyone just can't be wrong? And how is it possible that everyone from the genesis of bitcoin till date will all be wrong about their perspective of bitcoin? Are you angry towards bitcoin maybe you might have bought at a position close to the new ATH and now it's going low for the past days, and that's why everyone is wrong about the hypes? Speak up!
410  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football teams create a kind of community on: March 21, 2024, 06:03:21 AM
Recently I've been reading about the tension and division that football can put amongst people making it look as tho they are part of a different community or even county, like when two famous clubs are playing, and members of the same family or friends would be against each other forgetting other bonds they once had and going all out to support their club or née family they belong to.

The point is why does football create such a tension and division that can even result to fight and dispute sometimes.
Football today in our society is like a religion that hardly you see a individual that is not a supporter of a football team, it necessarily must not be a well renowned team with a large fan base but just any football team be it a local or international teams.

Football in all essence promotes peace, charity and love among people of diverse culture coming together to cheer up a particular team they fancy or interested in, we saw all of that in the last concluded world cup where different countries citizens came together to wine and dine exchanging pleasantries, it's only football that can do that seamlessly.

As for the part of the jeering, dissing, and the jocking mockery between two different football fans, I tell you that's one of the many beautiful sides of the game when the tension in the middle of the ongoing match is built-up every fan wants to be by their team showing that pride, and it shouldn't be something beyond what have just explained. Anything order than this is just an unhealthy way of being a football fan, because after the game we still have to go out and empty some bottles of beers that how it ought to be fun fun fun.
411  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Olympic Games Paris 2024 - Discussion Thread on: March 20, 2024, 10:11:23 PM
It's as though there are new features that have been added into this very Olympic tournament as there are a few competition's
on the list I have not seen before or is it that am the one that have not been paying attention.

As a lover of football that's where my priority will dominantly based in then followed by table tennis and box but that doesn't mean others are not that interesting anyway.

The men's teams in the group stage the team's  am rooting for to qualify to next round are France, USA, Argentina, Ukraine, Sprain,  Egypt,  Paraguay and Mali. For the women's football, my favourite team is team USA and am sure they will be making it out of the group stage without huddles as they seem to be the best team in that group B followed by team France in group A who I believe are going to prove a toughest opponent to USA women in the course of the tournament.

Can't wait to watch all the football events as the competitions unfolds by July (edit)

Along the way going a black cap men stopped us and wanting to search us after which they asked to unlock our device and so luckily I already hide my important app as my instinct leads me, but people around me that entered same vehicle(taxi) with me didn't do that and I noticed they have similar app on their iPhone so the policemen called to asked them about the Binance and other apps in their phone when they opened it they started questioning them about the funds inside and how did they manage to raise those funds although those young men weren't able to speak boldly and to defend themselves correctly and that was how they asked us to leave took them to station for further questioning.
Nigeria police and their misdirected search. They won't go after the big politicians who launder money by pretending they're trading these cryptos or who've boys who trade them on their behalf and leave helpless and unconnected youths alone. Wasn't it during the #endears protest that we saw Kucoin app on the PC of a minister in Nigeria and he was even on VPN at a time Twitter and cryptos were banned in the country. What came out of that exposure, nothing. It was swept under the carpet. Anyway, my advice to the youth is for them to know how not to expose their trading apps. If they've more than a phone, they can convert one to crypto phone and kept at home.
I have not seen a situation whereby government attack traders in nigeria, theirs one popular Nigerian bitcoin trader called blord,  government have tried to severally to arrest B.lord and they could not arrest him, even when economic financial crimes commission  [Efcc] filed case against b.lord, the b.lord won them in court of law, nigeria government is not against whosoever that is into cryptocurrency trading, even some of the politicians is even saving their funds with cryptocurrency especially bitcoin
413  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you stake it all put of over confidence in your club on: March 20, 2024, 01:39:02 PM
... shocking to me he went on and staked 5k on man United win to qualify which was about 7 odds at that time, and yeah it turned out right for him. Can any one do this or was it a foolish move?

There's nothing wrong with that as long as he is comfortable with the outcome and his loss did an analysis and he is not betting out of blind loyalty.
We won't agree to see anything wrong about his action and that's because the outcome was a favourable one, he won and that's what every gambler what to hear. Justifying a stupid action because the results out of luck turned out to be fine is not proper. We should also look at the other side of it, how probably he lost it on staking that amount the story here would have been a different one but instead a lot of persons are praising him for taking an uncalculated risk
414  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Making decisions while betting on: March 20, 2024, 12:49:54 PM
Cash out as not always an option in the right for gamblers. This is why before I bet on a game I decide ahead of time if it's for a cash out or it's till full time. Have seen where someone cashed out about $20 out of anxiety for a $500 game which eventually played, till date he finds it had to forgive himself. Unpredictability of gamble just makes the activity very unique somehow.
That's right.
First, we must identify if we are going to finish the whole parlay or not. Because there are gamblers who make a long parlay and cash it out halfway or maybe even less, because that's the real plan from the start.
Some like finishing it so they put in a list of games where they are sure that almost every line will win their respective games. I've also been in a position where there's a chance that I could cash it out but I didn't due to the fact that my plan is to finish the whole parlay. I lost it with the one last leg and I was frustrated but still because that is the plan I made myself then I stuck with it and I should be stronger to accept the consequences.
The last game was running and I had many chances to press the cash-out option but I didn't but that's because it was my decision and I won't go as far as not forgiving myself for that.
Sometimes we do have to ask ourselves if we are ready to accept the consequences so that it will be easier to accept the loss if it didn't go your way.
It's much easier to deal with the consequences of whatever happens if we take the decision to  cash out or refused not to under a well thought atmosphere than doing it out of tension. It is that spontaneous action that causes us the regret when the whole games does play after we might have cashed out a meager amount.

The hallmark of it all is that it doesn't matter if we cashed out based on prior plans or out of anxiety we just have to be ready to accept with no regrets the consequences that may follow and move on.
415  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Seeking Community Insights: Building a Community Around a Blockchain Project on: March 20, 2024, 09:14:18 AM
Op you are putting the cart before the horse and that isn't the right thing to do. I'll advise you use Satoshi and bitcoin as a practical successful example for your quest.

Satoshi Nakamoto first and foremost focused on completely building his project bitcoin and didn't divert energy on building a community for a project that isn't built yet, of which after bitcoin was created it in the course of time built the community for itself that we all are members today because we saw it is worthy.

Therefore if your project is a genuine one then you should focus all your resources into bringing it to a completion and if it's worth it then a community won't be a herculean task to achieve when your project is ready, with just a simple advertisement on socials media networks.
416  Economy / Gambling / Re: Potential Leads to Colabs/Promoters ? on: March 20, 2024, 08:40:51 AM
It's hard to partner with individuals like you are looking for because they would be taking a great risk by promoting your platform.  You could offer some promotion to their followers, get them to all deposit into your site, then just disappear leaving the influencer to look like a scammer.  This is pretty common, more than actually finding a trustworthy partner, so I think without some serious reassurances and possibly even escrowing funds, you're going to have a hard time getting someone to put their community at risk to promote for you.  Just my 2 satoshis.
You  may not be far from the truth which is why if he's very serious and genuine  about his business and the quality of promoter's he's out for then he will be more than willing to put down something valuable for a collateral  that the influencer could bank on in the event that anything of the negative happens. It's just as away to serve as security in the partnership between them. We have seen a whole lot of ugly experiences and it all started this way so have to be careful and make necessary demands from certain beautiful offers online to avoid tenting their reputation.
417  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Making decisions while betting on: March 19, 2024, 11:11:42 PM
How do we regulate our emotions while betting and how important is it?
The first aspect of regulating your emotions is to stake responsibly. When you overstake, your emotions can get the better of you while playing games and you make wrong decisions.
Gambler tend to act too excessively careful with their predictions and  due to this they without knowing become confused and vulnerable to making errors that would cause them sharp losses. This condition moat envelopes gamblers when they are about to go in with a high stake that's above their usual staking amounts. The fears to lose such amount of money triggers bad emotions in them because they have lost control.

Quote
You should also take the safe decisions at all times, especially with cashouts. Many players try to take as much money as they can and refuse to cashout even when they get a good deal. I recommend to take that deal as the outcomes are not guaranteed.

418  Other / Off-topic / Let's talk about self investment too. on: March 19, 2024, 02:35:13 PM
When the word investment is made mentioned of in the forum all everyone talks or thinks about is money investment into one project or another, and how to make profit from it after a short, medium or long term of investing.

Not more or less is discussed about self investment , in other words, investing in yourself, regularly adding value to yourself and due to how valuable you become this value in turn brings money to your pocket. For by learning  lucrative skills, striving to regularly improve on it you turn resourceful with a transformative potential to create and acquire a quality life in the future.
Self investment can't be overemphasized.
419  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Don't do this mistakes in trading on: March 19, 2024, 02:08:33 PM
No matter how many discussions talk about "common trading mistakes" this still won't change everyone. Because what I observed is the more we talk about this, the more newbies fall into committing mistakes. Honestly, it is difficult to change someone who already fell in love with money because even if they know greediness is wrong still it lives in their mind. And no matter how many times they suffer losses, that won't change their behavior. Maybe, just maybe, if they stay cool this time but can't ensure they remain cool for a long time.

We fail trading, not because of the lack of knowledge but it is due to our wrong actions and approaches.
Talking about greed all of the time doesn't mean people will no longer fall for it, of course people must fall except there are no trades anymore but in as much as trades are made a portion of traders must fall into trade victims of greed. Everyone must not win their trades, an error must set in either by an act of greed or something else otherwise we won't have course to be treating the discussion all of the time.

Humans we are wired to seek for more after initial target has been attained and that insatiable nature is what create that greed in us while we trade and when a trader lack a conscious control of that innate inclination for more in his trading life you see he keeps making more losses than profits. Even in times he should make profit greed set in to take more and from taking more a collateral loss is incurred. Everyone of us has greed it is how we manage it that matters.
420  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How to make choices in difficult times like this on: March 19, 2024, 12:23:17 PM
So we should learn how to make our choices very well some people might need it urgently but will that urgent taught help you later or you just want to eat your tomorrow today and suffer tomorrow. LET'S BE WISE IN OUR CHOICES.
There are factors that plays a critical role in influencing the choices of people, factors such as the environment and the background of the individual. They all design our perspective about the world around us about why we have to make certain decisions that some other persons with an elevated background might view our decision about a situation as baseless and lacking wisdom in it, but to the next person based on where he or she's coming from, that decision he/she took was the best going by their worldview.

There are persons that don't worry about sustainable solutions to their plight all they need is that solution which could solve their needs immediately but when we see these sets of people we think them to be stupid but no they are not, that's their own life, everyone must not think in same direction. Some people think short term when making their choices while others think long term as the case may be, in all, life still goes on.
