Electrum is good if you don't want to buy a hardware wallet. With Electrum, you can use a single signature wallet that is less secured than multi-signature wallet and cold storage.

406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can the exact date of the next Bitcoin halving be determined accurately? on: February 27, 2023, 02:20:28 AM
Nope, exact halving date can't be known in advance, the best we can to is estimate it and all the websites with halving counters do exactly that. All that we know is that the next halving will happen at the block 840,000 but problem is that we can't be 100% sure when that will happen because blocks are not mined at the exactly 10 minutes interval and instead that's just an approximate average.
Even two or three blocks before the next halving block #840,000, we still can not know exact time when the halving block will be mined on the network. Three blocks can be mined in a little more than 10 minutes if there are two blocks occur in a few seconds and a third block occur after about 10 minutes (an average block time). Three blocks can be mined in more than 30 minutes if all those three blocks are mined around average block time. It can be to 40 minutes if one of three blocks needs 20 minutes to be mined.

We can not know it exactly.

The Average confirmation time shows the uncertainty of block time

Could you include columns for
- Privacy score
- Lightning network stats/ charts
- Information about mining pools, hashrate distributions.
408  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can the exact date of the next Bitcoin halving be determined accurately? on: February 26, 2023, 07:32:43 AM
Noboday can say exact date of next halving.

Bitcoin block reward halving happens after every 210,000 blocks since a previous halving block. It is an exact number and you can calculate a next block number at which block reward will be halved again.

https://bitcoinblockhalf.com/

Exact date is impossible to say because block time is very different but the average time is about 10 minutes. Time between two blocks can be a few seconds, 10 minutes or more than 10 minutes. It makes impossible chance to say an exact date for a next halving.

However, I don't see a chance that this forum to be seized by any government in the world. No one knows who owns this forum, so how can the government seize this forum? Even if a government claims Satoshi is its citizen, it can be very doubtful. This forum is decentralized, it allows this forum to last longer.
I see that risk is small but it is not the only risk. My example is used to help OP knowing about risk and advising him to have real jobs. Forum can be one of his jobs as additional source of his income.

Nothing can last forever and this forum too. If he does not prepare for the bad, when bad night comes, he will have a nightmare.
410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Help Bitcoin help Ukraine! on: February 25, 2023, 03:46:09 AM
Putin and Russia lied that they did not invade Ukraine. They called it as 'special military operation' against Ukraine. That's a big shame lie from Putin.

They blamed the West for everything and initially hid their intention to do other 'special military operations' farther to the West to countries like Moldova, Poland.

A few days ago, they publicly announced their hidden intention.
Russia warns West over threatening its troops in breakaway Moldovan region
Putin cancels decree underpinning Moldova's sovereignty in separatist conflict
Russia's Medvedev floats idea of pushing back Poland's borders

Medvedev, a spokeperson of Putin, is another terrible guy. He is too aggressive and is another version of Putin. After Putin dictatorship, will Medvedev become another dictator in Russia?

In Ukraine, the war destroys almost everything and it's difficult for Ukrainians to store their bitcoins, backups safely. Their buildings, homes, lives can be destroyed any time including wallets and backups.

What are your best advises to Ukrainians for their coins, wallets and backups?
411  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: People mindset in Bitcoin on: February 25, 2023, 03:10:01 AM
Some people understand Bitcoin in different specifications
It is not a matter if we all use Bitcoin on Bitcoin network. Agree or disagree, if we use Bitcoin on its network, we are contributing to keep its network alive and become bigger. We are helping Bitcoin adoption.

some people out there always think that Bitcoin is the shortcut of getting rich when you invest in Bitcoin, but have not seen Bitcoin as short way of making money, as Bitcoiner, are we not sure that it's encouraging to think that Bitcoin is the shortest way of making money
If they see shortcut with Bitcoin, they will use leverage and bet then lose money. However it is not anything faulty from Bitcoin, those people are only stupid and very greedy.

It is more like a shortcut to get poorer for those people, not to get richer.

When a friend told me how he makes money from bounties
Did your friend make good money from bounties?

I don't know why your friend introduced you about Bitcointalk and invited you to join because of bounties that are not good.

Quote
I've been in bounty for a while, and during that time I've heard and read some topics about how unproductive and time-wasting they are here.
If you have been in bounties for a while, you did know they are good or bad. Did you earn good money from your time with bounties?

If you did not earn good from bounties, it is a good confirmation for what you read in some topics about time-wasting with bounties.
413  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My father thinks I'm working in a shop,he didn't know I'm bitcointalking. on: February 24, 2023, 10:20:59 AM
You seem pretty confident that the forum will shut down, although I don't think there's any reason for that to happen as long as there's interest in Bitcoin and all other cryptocurrency-related activities in general. Things could change in the future when people no longer want to communicate in this way
I did not say it will be shut down certainly.

I only raised a risk to OP if he depends on forum for income as his only income source.

Forum shutdown will happen by many reasons, not only less interest of community in this communication style. It can be seized by government for example.
414  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My father thinks I'm working in a shop,he didn't know I'm bitcointalking. on: February 23, 2023, 11:14:38 AM
Now my father asks me about my shop, and where it's located,I told him I'm bitcointalking, and he doesn't know what I'm talking.
Bitcointalk is not ATM for you and you can not work here forever.

If you are young, you can work in Bitcointalk and learn to work at other working locations, shops, companies, super markets or work as free-lancer but don't depend on Bitcointalk. If you only work here, when Bitcointalk shuts down, you will be burned.
415  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I check my merit count for the last 120 days on: February 23, 2023, 11:07:43 AM
Ninjastic.space does not have table for users you sent merit too like BPIP.

Your user page: Obari merits.

I like Ninjastis.space because it has charts (Merits sent, Merits received last 3 months).
416  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How do i sign a message on: February 21, 2023, 06:34:01 AM
DO NOT use an online web form to sign messages!!?!

Online webforms are "ok" for verifying messages, but you should NEVER EVER input your private key into a website. The reasons for why you should NEVER do this should be obvious.
Thank you. I forgot that we should never leak our private keys. I knew it but you taught me again with a strong reminder.

I took out my mobile phone today and tried to clean up some space from the storage so that I could use it for movie purposes. I slid in my old telegram, which I used for airdrop back then, and with a network connection on it, a message popped in immediately.
Change your Telegram settings to avoid adding into scam groups.

For personal messages from strangers, scammers, you can create a folder like Scammers and all future personal messages from strangers will be in that Scammer group. Yo will not have to check those PMs.

How to create and manage chat folders in Telegram?

Click on the link and message the said user, who sent me a link to join and create an account, which I did since I don't have anything valuable or intend to use the phone for anything serious.
Click on link, are you really smart?
418  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How do i sign a message on: February 20, 2023, 02:34:23 AM
Sign your message with Electrum.
Verify that message by yourself and after you verify it successfully, you can copy and paste it to stake your message in Stake your Bitcoin address here

Your staked address can help you to recover your account.

It is from Bitcoin Cash and we can have better ways to sign and verify message. I don't like to support Bitcoin Cash team with more traffic for their website.

Sign and verify easily with BitcoinMessageTools

I know the narrative, that miners wont sell at loss so price have to go up. But price will go up only if we assume that demand is constant. Which is not. It can go down as well and those miners that did not sell at loss wont have cash to pay for bills and will go bust reducing difficulty for others. Other miners will mine cheaper bitcoins that they will sell at profit even lower. Difficulty doesn't have to go up all the time.
Miners have to sell their bitcoins to pay their electricity bills especially small miners who can not have good budget to hold their bitcoins in bear market. Miners who have bad financial management and take too high leverage in bull market will not only have to sale off their bitcoins but will also face with bankruptcy.

Miners have miner capitulations

I'm not saying that bitcoin will not reach new ATH.
It will, if not in 2024 it will make a new all time high in 2028 or 2032.

I believe in controlled supply and good adoption growth of Bitcoin, its demand will only become bigger. Price will have to rise and new all time highs have to occur.

Bitcoin took 6 months to get 1000 users; 5 years to find 1 million users.

Today, 13.8 years from inception, it has 300m+ users, 4% of the world.

At current growth rates, 1 billion users will be hit in the next 3 years. That's 12% of the world.
420  Other / Archival / Re: What is the easiest way to explain bitcoin to a regular person? on: February 19, 2023, 02:50:47 AM
You can explain them from knowledge to practice but you can do it inversely from practice to knowledge.

I'd like to choose the inverse explanation, from practice to knowledge.

I will show them how to make a transaction with Bitcoin. It is to show them the process is very easy. Then I will show them how to create a wallet, get a receiving address, how to back up and recover wallet.

Very last thing, how to secure their wallet file and how to download wallet from official website.

Verify wallet is important but it is advanced and I can explain it to them after they already have experience with Bitcoin.
