Anyone wanna explain the 7769999 value genesis block?

Yeah, I won't be mining this one thanks.
402  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: VirtualMiner.eu - Game now BETA on: September 26, 2011, 10:39:40 PM
Who's going to want to buy virtual bitcoins? When they can buy real bitcoins..

Good question ;0)

First of all the game will run on real bitcoins once it is tested enough to make sure that people wont loose hard earned BTC due to my bugs.
Those virtual forks (named: chains) are what you say, virtual coins. But what else are i0coins, ixcoins or SolidCoins? Basically they are comparable. People trade them with real BTC although they have but only virtual value that stems from the computing power put into them. And that is the aim of this game - adding another way of trading virtual currencies (or valuables if you want to call them that way) with real BTC with the big advantage that noone would have to put their miners away from the main Blockchain.

Now you've put it that way, it kind of sounds interesting, but I still don't see it taking off. I for one would prefer it to just be a purely "play-money" game with some sort of donation system or premium feature system instead Smiley Just my 2 bitcents though..

Also I don't mine i0coins, ixcoins or solidcoins, only namecoin and bitcoin Tongue which might explain why I'm not too keen on the gambling aspect of this game

This is a great idea Smiley good job!
I'm still not sure as to which fees are virtual on this game and which are real bitcoins.
Is it entirely virtual? (no real fees, no real profits) or is there some sort of gambling element involved?
405  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Spartan6-LX150 board for $250 -- gauging interest for mid-Oct ship date on: September 25, 2011, 05:24:23 PM
Definitely interested in this!

Any prices for shipping to the UK if it's available?

406  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Smartcoin Linux mining administration. [MULTI-MACHINE SUPPORT NOW IN!] on: September 23, 2011, 10:17:01 AM
Hi again John.
I hope you're still checking this thread =D

Just wondered if it was possible to get an email notification when the hashrate drops below a certain level for more than a certain period of time (e.g. less than 300 for 10 minutes) or maybe get smartcoin to execute the lockup script if this happens?

As what i've been noticing is one of my cards may go down but smartcoin wont pick up on it because it's only one card.

Thanks!
407  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Ultra-Low-Cost DIY FPGA Miner - 175MH/s @ $1/MH on: September 20, 2011, 09:40:44 PM
Would love to buy/build a few of these if I didn't suck at soldering so much. Maybe I can get someone to solder it for me.
408  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: FPGA Miner Design for Sale to Someone willing to Market It on: September 17, 2011, 10:53:39 AM
Sounds like a complete scam.
Only 7 posts and ridiculously exaggerated figures.

I'd stay well away from this guy.

410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unknown National Chain Restaurant to Accept Bitcoin This Weekend on: September 16, 2011, 12:18:13 PM
The real question is: How long until Bruce sets this imaginary restaurant chain up with a convienient online wallet service that he's apparently got 25,000 coins with, which then disappears a few months later...

Bruce and the online wallet service.. totally coincidental relationship there of course.
411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Don't Black People Use Bitcoins? on: September 13, 2011, 04:59:12 PM
Only if you allow it to be with bullshit old school way of thoughts like this.

I bet you support things holding back society like Black History Month too?

Such a shit thread.     Less racism, less sexism, was already existing in Bitcoin.  Only old school ways of thoughts will keep it from progressing further imo.
AND WHERE IS OUR WHITE ENTERTAINMENT TELEVISION?

Fuck off back to stormfront please, this topic is for serious discussion.

LMAO. This topic and serious discussion would never been seen in the same sentence...
412  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Double Spend attack on Namecoins!!! Start mining now to save Namecoin!!! on: September 12, 2011, 07:53:15 PM
namecoin is stupid

bitcoin is safe

end of story

You're stupid.
Namecoin fulfills a completely different purpose to Bitcoin.
413  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Safebit - Official Preview Version released today! on: September 11, 2011, 04:24:30 PM
I loved this project until you mentioned it was purely JavaScript and HTML.

Please please please port it to C++ or something similar.
414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin vs solidcoin on: September 03, 2011, 06:14:44 PM
Bitcoin always wins. Solidcoin is a poor fork with no real advantages and will likely die out soon.

GX 650w from cooler master.

CoolerMaster is good, definitely not the cheap crap you find in bargain-basement PCs.  It's a name that has been around for a while.
Good to hear this! I've heard a lot of people slating the PSU for being a cheap rip off, but it seems like a fantastic mid-range PSU to me, so I'm glad someone agrees!

I usually focus on a lot of input fans and let a combination of the video card exhaust fans and passive vents handle the output.  If you have a lot of air coming into the case you will have a lot of air coming out..  The cases I'm using now I have 3x 120mm + 2x 180mm input fans and only a single 120mm output (near the CPU) + all the video card fans and some passive vents.

If you can get a high air flow for your intake fan it could help to add vented slot covers for the expansion slot covers between the cards (or just remove the slot covers) this can help remove some of the hot air from around your cards.

Silverstone vented slot covers:

I agree with the adding fans in the side panel blowing into the card intakes.

Also pay attention to cable clutter within your case.. try to eliminate or reroute cables which may block airflow.

Higher grade power supplies usually have modular cables which can be removed if not needed helping improving airflow in addition to the power savings from the higher efficiency.

Thanks for the fantastic reply. This was exactly what I was hoping. I'm temporarily running caseless until I get my new 120mm Scythe Kaze Jyuni. Anyone know if this fan is any good? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330601649625

417  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Open-Case mining rigs exposed to short circuit threats from spiders! on: September 01, 2011, 11:07:55 AM
Actually I moved my rigs into the garage and two days later one of my rigs is off in the morning. It wouldn't post. I take it apart to find a moth stuck on the pins on the underside. Board is being sent back to be rma'd now. Hopefully warranty will take care of it...

Ouch man.
This confirms my fears! I've got mine cased up now. There's still quite a few gaps but hopefully it's well enough protected. I need a USB bug zapper..
418  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How important is a good exhaust fan? on: August 31, 2011, 10:11:22 PM
Good idea. I was considering that but didn't think it was necessary. Should I have dust filters on all of my fans? I didn't think they were necessary either to be honest.
419  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How important is a good exhaust fan? on: August 31, 2011, 07:39:27 PM
you can only blow as much air out as you are taking in- if you have more fans doing one or the other you'll still benefit from the air movement but it will be poorly optimized. A general rule of thumb for regular case layout (PSU on top) is to have intake fans on the bottom/front of the case and have exhaust on the top/back- this lets hot air rise from the case without being sucked back in. I've tried alot of combos of fan placements and it can make a huge difference on your temps if done wrong/right. hope this helps Smiley
Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately the case is laid horizontally so that screws up the airflow a bit, any tips for this setup?

That's good to hear that it's flexible incase it need changes in the future.

This could be done in two ways: Each user could set the proportion of their individually solved blocks to donate, or each user could set the proportion of their work to donate. They should be equivalent in the long run, so I'm mainly considering which is easier to implement.
By solved blocks I assume you mean solved shares?
I would've thought setting it proportionate to shares would be easiest, but let me know which one you decide!
