I had actually thought about this sort of idea a couple of years ago... a "rogue's gallery" or something along those lines... I'll have to see how things go.  It's a nice idea, definitely worth some thought.

For non crypto users who may actually want to buy some GP in order to pre-order the game (I mean, you never know  ) - what's the very easiest, simplest way for them to do so using fiat?

Basic idea for Captain Disaster in Death Has A Million Stomping Boots pre-order:

- To run from 1st April 2016 to 30th June 2016
- 3 tiers (yes, it will almost be like a mini Kickstarter):
   - Gamer - 500GP - simple pre-order of game
   - Supporter - 1000GP - pre-order game and mention in game credits
   - Investor - 2500GP - pre-order, credits and 1GP per copy of game sold in first 3 months following launch

Caveats: I cannot guarantee release date at this time.  If we cannot deliver the game release by December 2017, I will return the amount of GP given +20%.  (Things will gone catastrophically wrong if we are unable to release the game by December 2017.)

My realistic estimation of game sales, having researched similar releases, is 5-10K.  I cannot make any assurances on number of games that will be sold, but obviously I will do everything I can to maximise sales!  A "sale" will be counted as any unit sold without being refunded before 3 months from the release date.

We will also run something to get free GP just for buying the game, but the exact mechanics of how this will be delivered are TBC.

We're edging closer to having a final plan of making Captain Disaster in Death Has a Million Stomping Boots available for pre-order exclusively for GP, but a few details to iron out first.  Will hopefully be able to post absolutely final details before the end of March 2016. 

Might get hold of some on DKV then, looks very promising.

Prices up?  Where can you trade it atm?  Bittrex is still showing it as having a broken blockchain.

Maybe we could have a three-tiered structure... Pre-Order, Supporter (Pre-Order with mention in Credits), and Investor (Pre-Order, special mention in credits, and GP back when certain conditions are met).

I'll have to think about it.  I don't like not being able to give a definite release date at present, but experience suggests it's still too soon to do that.

Can you PM me with details of how many GP you could put up for this and I'll put a plan together.  Won't be straight away though, I want to give this some serious thought before deciding anything.

That's an idea.  The trouble is that I have no set release date yet (though we have a pretty firm decision to aim for December 2016), and we have yet to set a definite price.  Also its common to the point of obligatory to have an introductory special offer for the first couple of weeks these days.

I was hoping that a mention in the game credits and on the dev blog would be enough of an extra incentive for people, although I understand that a lot is on trust here.  I'm also wary of the fluctuating value of GP and making promises that I will potentially struggle to keep (or, can keep but take up a lot of my time that will then be unable to use for gamedev).

I don't know how wide the interest might be within the GP community (or, in all honesty, how big the GP community actually is!) - but I am fully aware that the vast majority of players who are likely to want to buy my game will have little or no interest / knowledge in cryptocurrency, beyond having vaguely heard of Bitcoin.  So should the focus of anything we do here be to reward existing members of the GP community or try to introduce a totally new set of people to GP?  Clearly it should be a mixture of both, but one side of the coin (as it were) presumably will have to take precedence.

As a side-thought, are there any online shops that accept GP?  I know there are a couple of HYPER stores, but not sure about GP?

Will do, although as it's likely the sites will have a spot purely for screenshots, it may have to wait for my next Press Release.  (I do need to update the blog to show GP as the sponsor - already done a post about it but need to add something to the homepage I mean.)


That's an interesting idea actually, but I'm not quite sure how I would be able to implement that.  Deserves further thought, definitely... maybe it could be some sort of competition that players can enter?  A code they will receive only in-game somehow?  (Could you point me to the GoldPieces API and I'll ask my programmer if he thinks we might be able to do something.  It's going to have to be somewhat low on the priority list right now though.)  Or, maybe I could so something from the dev blog / on Twitter?

I did a similar study and got more or less the same results - can't remember in detail as I didn't save the data though.

Now that I've played it, I have to say that the Rainbow Snake mode is actually pretty awesome! 

My little girl's been buggy me about the "Rainbow Snake" mode ever since she saw CrazyJack's beta screenshot, so she'll be delighted!    (Actually it's both pretty trippy and compulsively relaxing at the same control... I think you may be exerting some kind of freaky mind control over players using it.  )

Also, I'm confused - if you can only buy with HYPER, why does it not show the HYPER price for items?
