This is great,
I've always wanted to have a full block on a physical metal. The ecosystem just wasn't mature enough for it back when it was 50BTC reward. Small miners had no financial ability to manufacture these things.
Buying these means that the buyer will have to align their interest with BTCC and continue their survival. The way I see it from the business stand point is that there are no bad consequence of keeping the private key without destroying them. The only potential bad outcome is if Chinese government decides to raid BTCC and found the private keys. Remember that Mike of Casacius coin got a visit from FBI as well, so if he had kept the keys back then, I am very sure that the FBI has access to those and all of them should've ended up in Mark Force's secret wallet by now.
Pure business wise, the reason why Bobby will not use the private keys for his own gain is because if he does, the reputation hit to BTCC will be too great. Which means that their financials will have to be so bad that they need the cash flow from these blocks to tide over the year.
I look at bitcoin the same way I looked at the old roman empire when they started minting their coins with composite metal instead of pure gold and pure silver. What happened was that the pure ones gets taken out of circulation and hoarded while the newer composites gets used in daily transactions. When the shit hit the fan, the pure old coins can always get melted down and converted to the next currency while the newer composite with no precious metal content is worthless.
There's more and more debate about taint and colored coins. What we need to understand is that a newly minted coin that has never been passed around can always be trusted as something pure, that's never been used for nefarious purposes. The court cannot argue that it is used in drug trades if it is a minted block that's never been used.
As for BTCC, I have a request for these blocks. Can you also send a certificate of ownership chain like what Mike did to his customers?

I knew there was going to be an error block! Gosh 50BTC + premium on it... Is that going to go up for auction? That will be the most unique block ever made (only one available). But I don't understand how that could have happened as the blocks are not consecutive as in the case of the 1BTC Twin coins. You guys mentioned that the Twins happened because sometimes you mine 2 blocks very quickly one after the other. There are 8 blocks between 418419 and 418427, that wouldn't be so fast right? And how about the 2015 ones? Will they be up for sale soon? Clarifying about the "twins" versus this "error". Both are sort of errors, but the twins case is that consecutive blocks get mined so quickly that some of our mining pool machines didn't get "reset" after we find a block, so they both get inadvertently mined to the same address. However, for this "error" block, what happened was a misconfiguration, where we made a regrettable mistake and actually assigned two jobs, and caused a double funding, to the same address. Since this was our fault, it didn't come in consecutive blocks, and we should not call it "twins" like before. Hope this makes sense! thanks, Bobby |

Its not the biggest block,when I was helping at bitgold just when bitcoin was released I heard there was one block with a massive amount in it that would show after the second halving
Very true that there is much bigger blocks. But don't confuse it. It was the biggest block that BTCC mined (that we know of). Correct. Our claim is that of all of the Bitcoin Blocks mined by BTCC Mint (in 2015, 2016 both pre and post-halving), this is the largest single natural block, at over BTC26+. the biggest flaw with such a gorgeous titanium coin is that while the block and its engravings are fire/water-proof, the hologram and private key are not
has BTCC considered either laser-engraving the private key on the block (might cause security concerns though), or otherwise engraving it on a small titanium disk placed behind the hologram? I can just imagine the heartache if the private key got damaged or illegible
