Do you have a list of all your old books?
402  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-11-18 americanbanker.com: The Bitcoin Delusion on: November 19, 2013, 10:13:56 PM
Not only does the author show very little understanding of Bitcoin he also shows very little understanding of the operations of central banks and also of communism. Suffice to say to say that the current manipulation of the money supply presumably for the public good by central banks with the blessing of the state has way much in common with communism than a currency who value is solely set by the market.

Central planning is at the core of communism and so is at the core of the operations of central banks.

Yes it is.  The form of utopia is sold as the answer but it is never discussed who will run this system and how decisions will be made.

Thank you for this analysis.
404  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-11-18 americanbanker.com: The Bitcoin Delusion on: November 19, 2013, 02:48:53 AM
"What doomed communism, and will likely undermine Bitcoin, is the delusional hope that a protocol, a procedure, a network, an algorithm can neutralize the ugly selfish traits of human beings. Somehow, wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony disrupt the fairytale dreams of the true believers. Alas, they camouflage themselves for a long time before the bitter truth becomes clear."

Here is your real truth.  Ignore this at your own peril.

So for now I could use any pool I want?

Do you recommend a certain pool? What's your opinion about eligius? Easy setup and no fees, sounds good to me.

I like Slush, OZ and BTC Guild.  I would rather have more luck that no fees.
409  Economy / Goods / Re: WTS 3 oz Gold - 3 Separate coins, Eagle, Buffalo, Australia on: November 10, 2013, 02:41:23 AM
Again I understand, it's no effort on my part, I just put up and ad is all. Like I said if there is a buyer out there, great, if not, I'll move on. Atleast people on this board will have a chance at what I am trying to sell.
I know people probably wont buy without an escrow, but its so hard to do that at this point, with all the hacking going on. Im trying to sell them on here because I need the money at this point, if I cant sell them here, i'll just have to sell them at the local pawn unfortunately. But I cant afford to lose them.
 ~ Thanks
I tried to think of other options, but, if this dosent work out, Ill just have to pawn them (sell to a dealer or something) I wanted to avoid that first by trying to sell on here. I can only talk to the buyer, show who I am.... So, if theres a buyer, great, if not, I tried.

Go to a local rare coins shop, a pawn broker will rip you off usually.

@cointerra : So....no more 1 TH/s miner ?

No plans for an entry level mining machine ?

cointerra's chip - at 500 Gh was never going to be for the low end miner.  for that, they are best served buying hashes from the aftermarket (cloud hashing etc) who buy big systems and break off the gh's into smaller chunks and sell to the entry level market.

it makes sense to put multiple chips in a box (two in a 1TH and even better.. 4 chips in the 2TH box) - and it seems to get better economies of scale by increasing the amount of chips in a box - i.e.: to be able to spread out the required component costs of the box (non asic)... e.g. the box itself, power supplies, dc/dc converters, the controller, fans, cooling systems etc... thus the cost difference between a 1 TH box and a 2TH box isn't so drastic..   so the way to bring the cost down $/GH is to cram as much hashing power in each box as possible and realise economies of scale to bring the price down for the customers.

asic companies selling less powerful chips can offer smaller systems and will operate in a different part of the market... but cointerras chips are probably best used in bigger systems to gain their max efficiency benefits.   Also, when space is at a premium (e.g. rented space in a data centre), packing more GH's per U makes a difference.   Cointerra's 2 TH in 4U is quite dense and efficient from a packaging point of view and will probably be lower running cost as well as lower GH cost... by comparison KnC is 0.55 GH in 4U, and Hashfast is 1.2 TH in 4U.

And anyway - assuming you ARE going to be mining and not sit it out...  with the network hash rate where its heading you may need terahashes not gigahashes to make a dent.

Nice explanation.
411  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Take care of Butterflylabs (BFL) on: November 09, 2013, 09:47:40 PM
I live in Austria (Europe) and ordered my Jalapeno in March 2013. The BFL Jody blog tells that devices from May 2013 are already being shipped, I however am still waiting. My tracking information ends up in an Australian post office (1). I read also, that China shipments end up in Canada (2) and people get wrong devices or missing parts (3) too.

Butterflylabs did not - since 5 days - respond to my emails. And Paypal stopped buyer protection for BFL orders - opening a dispute for BFL orders is not allowed, it results only in an email to BFL.

I am really pissed, BFL doesn't seem to be a scam, but it looks like BFL orders have a serious risc attached.

Please post a screenshot of the email or letter you got from Paypal confirming your claim that they will not offer buyer protection for BFL orders.  Thanks

you've got essentially no trade history.

if you change your mind and want the bitcoin let me know.

looking for gold/silver but not when i have to trust someone with 1/100th the trade history as myself
Yes I know, Unfortunately it is the way it has to be. It's going to be hard to trust anyone here I suppose. Does not matter who it is, Im just doing what I can to stay afloat.
So, if someone is interested, and to my terms then great... if not, then it's ok, wasn't meant to be.

~ Thanks

Maybe take note that 2 Hero and a Staff member posted on here but you will not accept escrow or deal with them directly.   You are really causing yourself more effort than needs be.  The attitude that someone either sends me $3,000+ before I ship it is isn't meant to be is an incorrect manner to handle this transaction.  Not that I am accusing you of anything but other people who took the same stance usually were trying to rip someone off.  Think about it.

I PMed him with the same concerns.  He understands but we is also very wary of people on here.  It is sort of a catch-22 situation.  I suggested he use a reputable escrow to handle the transaction.

Do you already have your own pool up and running?

Yes we do.   At this point we still don't have enough hardware delivered to make it worth the risk of running it.  I believe in 2-3 weeks it will go live with some large orders being delivered.

420  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Profitability of the new bfl monarchs (600ghs) on: November 08, 2013, 09:07:16 PM
This card will be negative ROI once it arrives.   Mark my words.  The question is what is an acceptable loss?   -100% ROI to ROI?   You will be within in this band so only exchange rate speculation may bail you out.    Before BFL hits, expect another 8-14 PETAHASH to come online so make sure you figure the difficulty well over 1 billion.
