... I'd rather be honest and upfront with everyone ... Right. I've shown where you are not always "honest and upfront". Care to show where I lied, as you asserted? Or, issue an apology?

The house I had built in 2001, in Texas, has only 15a sockets throughout. (Other than the 220v for the clothes dryer and oven/stove.)

And let an opportunity to make profit pass? How is that rational?
Merely due to the company's honor? I do seem to recall they clearly stated they would not mine with their devices prior to shipping. After all, they have a reputation to maintain. -- edit -- Nope, I was wrong. We use EasyMiner's built in evaluation function to burn test, not the live network. Why? Because the live network isn't a very good test. Meaningful performance evaluation requires known problem sets with known results. With live mining, you miss out on absolute confirmation of work. Network inconsistencies further cloud performance testing metrics. However, after units have been cleared, they're tested on a live pool connection as a last minute sanity check. What you're looking at with that burn in account is the cumulative result of six months sanity check live testing.
Our primary objective is delivering product as soon as we can. We do not hold product back for unnecessary burn time.

I'd welcome a HOWTO for the Cairnsmore1 board (for Linux please). I don't even know where to begin with... There was one person reporting success with a single FPGA but from what I understand they needed to connect to the JTAG directly and not through USB.
I've not looked at it, but try this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=78239.msg1189779#msg1189779-- edit -- Oops, my mistake. You did specify Linux.

... I've just find it odd, what could of caused it to just start happening. ...
'Maybe' a small increase in ambient temperature? Are you using the makomk bitstream and are any of your CM1 FPGAs generating over 0.5% Invalids? For me, USB related problems went away when I stopped connecting a USB cable to a board which is generating 2.25% invalids. (By daisy chaining the boards and making the one with about 0.2% invalids the Master.) With this approach I've been operating four days continuously whereas before the reconfiguration I had two failures within 24 hrs.

I think I may have found a temporary fix to my problem ...
Congratulations. Just in case someone else someday runs into the same or equivalent problem, and while it is still fresh in your mind, could you give a very short description of what you uncovered, please? -- If you want to wait a few days for validation, that makes sense. However, I do suggest jotting notes down now. It is amazing how fast little details can fade from memory.

Why do you care? I care because it is an issue of principle and integrity. Inaba/BFL_Josh unequivocally called me a liar. I presented evidence for my statements. After which he went silent on the issue.

Thank you friedcat and Deprived.
I appreciate your helping me to more fully understand how things were transacted.

Absolutely. I apologize for the making the comment (I would go back and edit it, but we've seen where that leads). So someone quote me, quick, so I'm not accused of editing anything after the fact.
But in all seriousness, I do apologize for the comment and I will refrain from guessing at your numbers until they are publicly available.
However, you have yet to apologize to me. I was trying to avoid calling you a liar, but the bottom line is you are lying.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=97269.msg1181484#msg1181484Or, I've missed it and ask you to please point me to your response.

Thank you, friedcat.
Although now I'm a bit confused. (Either due to my poor reading or ignorance no doubt.)
I thought 30,000 shares were offered for general purchase through GLBSE and 170,000 were offered via bulk private/direct sales.
Did it turn out that a lot of those 'private/direct sales' were handled by using GLBSE as a facilitator?

I compiled 2.7.5 also. (On Debian 'wheezy' 32bit.)
Don't remember the exact error message, but it was essentially a 'failed to open port'.
I have not yet tried executing cgminer from a cold boot. 'Perhaps' mpbm is not properly releasing/closing the ports when I shut it down.
Since I haven't done that cold boot test / done all the testing I can, I've not yet posted on the cgminer thread reporting a problem or asking for help.
Glad it's working for you.
And, btw, does your rig / mining now look good to you?
|
|
|
If you only have one board, i.e., you are not daisy chaining, then only two of the ports are 'mining' ports with makomk's bitstream. I expect those to be /dev/ttyUSB2 and /dev/ttyUSB3 for you. If you're seeing about an effective 400mhs from each of the ports which are 'detected', then all is fine. You are now mining and on the path to easy money. -- edit -- BTW, you're running cgminer? I've not been able to get that running on a Debian 7 release yet. Do you have any advice / observations about how you got it going?

Search in this thread with keyword "udev". You probably need to issue a modprobe command. (You might also search with that as a keyword.) You can also search for posts by "spiccioli". He has helped me a lot. Also check to see that the FTDI service is enabled. iirc, it wasn't on my vanilla installation of Debian. -- edit -- Also, if still having problems getting the /dev/ttyUSBx's to show up. 1) Unplug USB 2) remove power from boards 3) ensure that only *one* switch is off on the DIPS next to power/USB connections 4) power up boards, wait until orange shows on all FPGAs. 5) plug in USB 6) use "dmesg" to see that the devices are seen 7) manual modprobe or set up spiccioli's udev rules -- edit again -- "orange" and "yellow" are probably the same color.

Out of interest... how many manually maintaned shares are there that arent handled in glbse?
I consider that a fair/reasonable question.

Hi LazyOtto, no need to search anymore! 16CtsQsV6bPrtzc3DaYvDHjsHS5MwXL476 spiccioli <lol> Thanks, spiccioli. I'm starting my bitcoind / wallet now to send a trivial amount of BTC in appreciation of your quite non-trivial amount of help. ty BTW, my personal amount sent is trivial. I'm hoping though that the idea is *lots* of people send small amounts and they add up. -- Also sent 1 BTC to: Glasswalker: 17RQ9weR551AijNniuC7QRLp6Ff2WAjbc9 -- makomk, I turned on 'show sigs' but still don't see your address, please post or PM it to me and you get a BTC also. And my thanks.

Glasswalker, please look at this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=78239.msg1177532#msg1177532And comment on my thoughts / sanity. I am now up for 46 hrs continuous operation versus the first two failures within 24 hrs. I don't think this is all related to USB cables and hubs. (But I'm sure they do play a part. Multiple possible points of failure here, after all.) -- edit -- Although this is not gonna help the guy with his Ubuntu problem.

I was trying to avoid calling you a liar, but the bottom line is you are lying.
Interesting. I think the best response here is by using your words: "please provide some evidence" In this thread Inaba made a post which in context clearly 'shoulda' been made by BFL_Josh. When I pointed that out (which I thought was an attempt to be helpful) Inaba posted that 'It doesn't really matter since everyone knows I'm using two accounts'. (paraphrased from memory since the original post is deleted.) My post where I pointed out the mistake, here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=97269.msg1151000#msg1151000The post I was responding to: Deleted. Post that I paraphrased above. Deleted. Which is when I referenced Orwells' "Memory Hole" here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=97269.msg1151255#msg1151255"The only post that was "deleted" was the one where you yourself bitched about which account I was posting with" And the one where you stated that it didn't matter which account you posted with. That is two. That is multiple. In my capacity as a representative of BFL, I post as BFL_Josh, for other things, I post as Inaba.
I guess "It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is." http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/chatterbox/1998/09/bill_clinton_and_the_meaning_of_is.htmlIn the post referenced above I pointed out to you where, IMO, you had mistakenly posted as Inaba when you meant to use the BFL_Josh account. Your response, now deleted, was that it didn't really matter. Later, after this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=97269.msg1151111#msg1151111you deleted the post where you stated 'it doesn't matter', and the first one I pointed out. And, probably, reposted the contents of the first one erroneously made as Inaba as BFL_Josh. As you should have to begin with. (Which is a pretty damn trivial issue. But calling me a liar isn't.) This is the sequence. These are facts. You have escalated the tone here multiple times: "those individuals lied and any accusations they made were completely fabricated" "so please be careful what you accuse me of, because I can prove you wrong if you are just making things up" So, please. Prove me wrong. Or apologize.

No. You lie. There are posts from that thread which are now gone. Not relabeled as to who the poster was. Gone. (As can be seen from the context of the thread. In the future I will be sure to always post with full quotes from you to mitigate this issue.) How do we get a moderator / site admin involved in this? -- edit -- Where is the response to: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=97269.msg1151000#msg1151000
