Both 1 & 2 were ~$1500 USD at the time of purchase when you include shipping costs.

Both B2 and B3 cost about 75BTC, so if you were paying with BTC already mined the reality is B2 people get screwed the most by the delayed "promised vs actual" timeline.

Its fun to pick & choose which numbers to compare, because the wild fluctuations in BTC/USD price throw off the comparisons but the reality is someone who purchased a B3 is getting their unit with much less overall delay than B2.



Who actually bought that line?  I think we all know Avalon decided to finally take some profits on B3 and this was as good as logic as any to keep the BTC price mostly fixed between B2 and B3.

All you guys whining "partial refund" ... How long did BATCH 1 & 2 Customers wait?  Batch #2 was supposed to be APRIL!  The last units just went out the door.

I got shipping info on my Batch #2, I am more than happy.  I had guessed it might be MAY, worst case JUNE, now its JULY.  So 3 months late, but still happy.

Avalon really did just take ~3 weeks to produce/ship basically all of B#2 once the new line was up.   Batch #3 will definitely be much more "on time" comparatively speaking, I am very surprised there is even an offer of a refund for the whiners.

Put simply:  Should I be asking Avalon for ~250BTC for "lost profits" of my Batch 2 being multiple months late?  Heck no.  Mining has always been YMMV!

As I read on the thread linked, it would be bad business for Avalon to move chips before Batch3 ships, although it could happen.

Title says it all.  Assuming the current delays hold, which realistically goes out the door first?   Speculation encouraged!

Chips are produced but SHIP 2 MONTHS LATE...  So OCTOBER maybe?

Waiting for Avalon Batch #2 is like riding in a car where every second you get closer to your destination you have to pee that much more....

Totally sucks while its happening but the relief at the end will be worth it!

Agreed.  But that's why its a WATCH thread!  As Yifu said it required more faith on Batch 1 & 2, time is still of the essence for us in batch 2 as those of us who had GPUs and made this our transition plan are getting killed in difficulty.  I am just hoping the floodgates open on that new factory remodel or whatever it took and they can get them out the door faster this time!  Go Team Avalon!

While I love Avalon for beating BFL, I am starting to wonder how late the first Batch #2's will actually start shipping.   Consider 4/15 was already a month-delayed ship date.  Now we are being told "end of the month", which means we hopefully start seeing reports of tracking info or units arriving soon?

Everything about ASICS has been late so far.  BFL super late, but even AVALON has yet to get ONE batch 2 in the "wild" and it was supposed to ship a month ago.  From when Jeff got his batch 1 it pretty much still took over a month for anyone else to report having one - really took two months to have them out "in force".

While a half million chips may have been ordered, lets hope Avalon is as late with them as they have been with the rest of their stuff!

That would be about 24KW just for video cards (sans host computers).  Or $57/day in electricity at $0.10/KWH - more like $80/day with host PC requirements.

Honestly NO ONE should be buying GPUs right now.  Do a group buy of raw Avalon chips or something!

I got into BTC after the "first" crash that hit $30+ in 2011.

I thought I'd never see past $30 again.  Since then I mined 700+ coins, sold most of them for $5-15.  My last 10% I sunk into Avalons.

My last two coins I sold were:  3/18 - $40 then 4/10 - $232. 

I'm happy!  Currently BTC is 2x what it was a month ago!  This 10x increase BS was a bubble.  But guess what, now I am sure it will return - if I have to wait two years I will!

When I get my Avalons I am holding the coins.  Next time I'll make enough to actually pay off the house!

Well Batch #2 has been pushed back to April 15th from the original date of what, March 5th to April 5th?, I'm just stating what I thought was obvious.  BFL is 6 months late I'll let Avalon be 1 month late 

I think at this point I wouldn't worry about it until B3 start shipping in June/July.

Avalon has plenty of support tickets for B1 and B2 customers to be dealt with first.
