401  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Common misconceptions about cryptocurrency (Bitcoin) on: March 01, 2024, 08:35:08 PM
Sorry to say this, I don't really understand why newbies like to teach when they should be learning this is one big mistake I never did. instead of saying things and then it will turn out that I was very wrong I will rather remain silent and learn the basics before trying to contribute.
Newbies teaching instead of learning is a very big concern that the forum has started hissing about recently. I actually do not have problems about newbies teaching, if only they can teach well. It is not all newbies in this forum are absolute newbies in the cryptocurrency industry. Many of them have known about bitcoin and cryptocurrency at large, it is just that they located this forum lately.

The problem only arises when the said newbies start teaching the wrong things or confirming gross misconceptions to be the truth which will be obviously misleading.
I agree to this. Not all newbies are less knowledgeable, they may be new in the market but some have indeed deep understanding about crypto and the whole crypto space. So if they act as educating the other members in the forum, I guess there’s no wrong with if what they are teaching are relevant to other forum members.

Some higher rank members may underestimate the position of newbie. But to be honest, some newbies are highly knowledgeable than some legendary members, and it can be seen on their informative and highly relevant posts in the forum.
402  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou - March 9 on: March 01, 2024, 01:53:55 PM
The fight promo trailer is epic, it looks like a movie.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOHS1ajTmdA

I’m expecting AJ should have an easier time than Fury did against Ngannou. I’m expecting a knockout from AJ in this fight.
I click the link but the video no longer exist, but I search again and I found this one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MhhsTcKg34

nice trailer, this started with Francis vs Fury and they never failed to amazed us, whoever is making this, it's a good way for marketing purposes.
Great job!

Thanks. I'm sticking with AJ here, would not change my decision although Ngannou could knock him cold.
403  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: March 01, 2024, 01:23:24 PM
Looks like farm teams are having a great start. In their opening, Blackwater beat the Bolts, and now it's the DYIP that beat Converge. My bet lost, and I have to double that on the next game. With that said, I'm betting on the Road Warriors to win by -2.5.

I'm also interested on betting the over 203.5 ( no push that way). And,... Northport over 102.5

Good luck guys, have a great evening. Game will start at 7;30 pm/

We're witnessing a very entertaining game now between these two. NLEX started strong, but Northport was able to have a good run, and now they are only trailing by 1 point. As for the total points of this game, the pregame odds are still almost the same, so that's fun since it's still in the 3rd quarter, and there's a chance that in the 4th quarter they'll score more due to a possible increase in fouls committed, as it's a close game. If this game goes to OT, that would be a huge bonus for the over.

Already in the 4th quarter now, and it's now Northport that is leading the game, but it's still a manageable lead. So yes, OT is possible here, and the over will hit easily. Enjoy the action, guys, as this All-Filipino is also entertaining to watch. By the way, I have my bet on Northport here, and I'm happy with what I'm seeing so far. Hopefully, it will not change, but I cannot be sure here since there's still plenty of time.

Quote from: Finestream
Patience is always the key not just in long term hodling, in trading, but even in studying and understanding the forum as well. If you are patient, you will absorb all the information needed to make you a quality poster, a good investor and a reliable trader as long as you do your own diligence to research and study. So I totally agree on you OP, not just newbies but all those who want to take risk in the crypto space should have high patience to gain their  innermost desires and goals set upon entering crypto.
Just embrace patience in that coins you are hodling or trying to buy from the market and you will see the benefits of patience and you will like to always wait for the right bull to come before you can sell to make money that will give you courage to buy again when another bear occur.

The reason why OP mentioned newbies is because newbies always fall victim to such things in the market to loss some money in trading and, they need to start exercise patience in hodling whenever they succeed to buy coins from the market to stand in a chance to achieve something big in the bull market.
Patience is always the key, most likely in trading where you are trading in such an unpredictable market price. However, I believe newbies kept losing not because they are not patient but because they become greedy and keep chasing for instant profits. Not only in trading but even in buying and hodling their coins, they just expect to buy and sell whenever they want to and expect that they will get instant profits.
405  Economy / Economics / Re: Step up your game before the game steps you down. on: February 29, 2024, 10:20:38 PM
No matter what state the economy is in, there are hundreds of new dollar millionaires getting printed every day. It is because some people know how to get rich no matter what the financial situation is. Do people stop drinking water just because the economy is bad? No. Do people stop taking their pills? No. Do people stop eating? No. I just gave you 3 business ideas. They print money no matter what happens in the world. They don’t give a shit. They keep making money. In this globalized world, it is almost impossible to fail if you are smart.
Its just that some people never gets affected with a bad economy and will always tend to oversmart despite of unfavorable financial condition. So they won’t stop chasing for profits and continue making money because they always see it as their real purpose in this world. But not all people are like them. Some are weak and have no future plans and have never considered setting future goals. It’s like they do accept their fate already that they’re not bound to get rich and improve their way of living, daily survival is already enough for them.
406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin was created to reform money and provide financial freedom on: February 28, 2024, 11:57:45 PM
If I’m not mistaken, bitcoin was created not to replace fiat but to act as a reserved currency and serve as another option for people who prefer to use bitcoin more than fiat. Bitcoin brings freedom not actually to spare us from using banks but to open new opportunity for digital currency payment system. And I think for now, we can see a lot of people doing transactions with bitcoin but for those countries who are not yet legalizing bitcoin, they see bitcoin as an investment tool that can provide excellent profits.
407  Economy / Economics / Re: Save money today so money would save you tomorrow. on: February 27, 2024, 10:59:21 PM
We all need to have savings for the future. We all need to have an emergency fund because we have no idea when our financial problems will occur. If we follow some rules in our life then maybe we will be able to save our money.

We need to set specific goals: we need to plan our spending levels from the amount of money we earn and even spend accordingly and motivate ourselves to increase savings. This is how we can gradually reach our ultimate goal faster.
Avoid unnecessary expenses: We are often forced to spend unnecessarily on our friends and family. We need to stop this unnecessary spending to keep our goals in life. So we all should be frugal and stop unnecessary expenses.
Saving is always necessary. You don’t know what your future holds so always be ready whatever circumstances that will try to attack you. With sufficient amount of savings, you can always find time to invest for long term without being pressured on how long this investment will go far before you are going to gain profits from it. Saving alone will not save you as inflation will certainly affect the future amount of you savings, but if you are more than knowledgeable and capable to invest most likely on higher risk like bitcoin, I’m sure you will have the highest benefits and profits from your bitcoin investment.
408  Other / Off-topic / Re: Don’t play gambling with drugs or in half sleep on: February 26, 2024, 08:35:22 PM
Half asleep is a state where the person lost much of his consciousness  and all his decisions are going to be impulsive, just as being in drugs. The dangerous thing about this is that gambling is more fun in that state where you don't have feelings of stress or knowing how much is the risk of betting.
The addict or a person under substance influence is not aware of the dangers of gambling his money or the amount he is going to deposit, in such cases after the effect take off, that person start regretting what he have done and how much damage he caused.
There are some who are doing that when they are under the influence of alcohol too. I have seen a lot of cases like that when a person is gambling aggressively like there's no tomorrow, and as expected, even if he'll start with a good run, since the casino has a bigger bankroll than a gambler, in the end, the gambler still loses. It's how we reach when under the influence of a substance; we tend to make a decision based on our emotion as our mind is not in a clear state, so we tend to make mistakes that we will regret in the end.

I suggest for casinos to set a smaller period of self execution before the person takes any drugs or alcohol as well, he can set a small period disabling his account for a short period.
I know self exclusion is only possible on online account, but how can a casino determine if you are under on illegal drugs or alcohol. the word itself "self", means the decision should be coming from us to exclude ourselves from gambling for a certain amount of time.
409  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Wins: Your Money Was Returned to You. on: February 26, 2024, 08:28:04 PM
what we win is the money we lose, I don't think so, I think when I win gambling it is someone else's money who loses and vice versa, and this cycle will continue to turn, and that is the reason why casinos very rarely go bankrupt because they pay out their winnings. which is greater than their income

The cycle for most of us. However, we might not be able to notice that because we are not keeping a record of our wins and losses. If we do, we will see that overall, we are in a net loss. Maybe that's just how gamblers think. We are too optimistic to win but quite unrealistic with our approach. We think we are winners in gambling, but that's just because we are failing to acknowledge our losses and boosting only our winnings.
410  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do people truly risk their money on bets for profit? on: February 26, 2024, 01:24:30 PM
            -   You know, mate, all gamblers who enter the casino are really risk-takers; all of them are ready to lose their bets in the casino. Because if they are not ready to lose, they will not even waste time depositing money on a gambling platform.

That's the reality non-gamblers in real life would not understand. We are risk-takers; we know that we can lose our money, but we still try for a chance to grow our money. That's why it's always advised to limit gambling because of the fact that we lose more than we win, at least for most of us.

That's why casino players in any field of the gambling business are called gamblers. And then they expect that kind of defeat from a casino mate, because often gamblers in the gambling field are losers.

Losing is already a possibility. However, since we are gamblers and we love this kind of challenge, we are willing to risk, even if we lose. Most of us do not keep a record of our losses, so we will not feel that we are losing overall. Sometimes we hit, and that would be a big achievement on our part. It makes us happy and more inspired in gambling as we were able to conclude that it's not impossible to win. The word "limit" is just too important; we follow that, and we will last longer.

All they receive now are praise from the fans, and I'm sure they are so happy with that.

Because of their impressive games, there's a news that they receive an invitation to play with the strong teams in FIBA.
here's the full news.

Quote
Gilas Pilipinas head coach Tim Cone bared that invitations have come their way for their build-up toward the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament 2024 in July.

The veteran mentor said that European teams such as Lithuania and Slovenia have invited the Philippine team to come over, as other federations are also keen on preparing the best they could in a bid to get tickets for Paris.

“We’ve got some invitations from Lithuania, Slovenia, and the Czech Republic, we’re gonna work our way through those and see what we can do,” he said.

Nothing is set in stone yet, though, with the Philippine team given just 10 days to prepare for FIBA windows as per the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas’ agreement with other basketball stakeholders like the PBA and the UAAP.

That includes the OQT – where Gilas will be playing in Latvia – as well. “The window for us to do it is only 10 days,” said the 65-year-old bench tactician.

“That’s our agreement with the PBA, that’s our agreement with the NCAA and UAAP, and also the agreement with the Japan league – they can only release them for so long for a FIBA window. Ten days it is for us,” he added.

This one is great news, and I'm not surprised why this came up. The way Gilas played in the last two games showed how good their lineup is, and they are deserving to play with the big boys, the teams with the better ranking in the FIBA World Cup. I hope they'll televise this game so we will see if we are really strong enough to compete with the best in the world.

What do you think about Gilas now? Will they qualify for the Olympics?

About the naturalized player, which is better, Clarkson or JB?
412  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 26, 2024, 11:15:47 AM
I watched a game for the first time since the All-Star fiasco and Milwaukee beat Philly very comfortably. While the Sixers were focused on Giannis, other Bucks players hit wide open threes from outside and led by 21 at half time. The fact that they made 7 extra threes made the difference. Giannis didn't have to do much as the Bucks maintained the scoring margin throughout the game. Until Embiid comes back, the Sixers have a very difficult job. He'll be back before the playoffs start, which is good news, but the Sixers need to do better while he's out.
I guess it's kind of expected that the Sixers will have a hard time getting those wins because Embiid is out for at least 2 months because of that injury. It's almost the same as the Nets when they had KD and Kyrie a few years ago. At one point, they were at the top, and when both of them got injured, they just got loss after loss until they went down to the bottom 4.

I'm not saying that the Sixers will experience the same, but they relied too much on Embiid in terms of offense that they forgot to shoot already. Too much exaggeration in that sentence, but what I mean is that no one can step on the team offensively. Not even Tobias Harris which is their supposed 2nd option on offense.

The Sixers are 3-7 in their last 10 games, and their next 5 games are kind of easy at least. They will be up against the Nets, Magic, Pistons, Spurs, Grizzlies. I just hope that they can rack up some wins now that Embiid is still out.

I think most teams would struggle without their best player. When Embiid was still healthy, he could score 30+ points in a single game, and I think he made 70 this season too. That really says a lot about how dependent the Sixers are on Embiid. What I like about the Sixers is that they are not forming a super team anymore, as they got better when James Harden was out. However, that was also the risk of losing Embiid, and it's not surprising at all, since Embiid has had some injury issues in the past.

Well, for now, if the Sixers fail to make it to the playoffs, then they can give that slot to a team that could really compete in the playoffs. Actually, I was thinking that the Knicks would make it to the playoffs, but recently they have been struggling, and I think without OG and Randle, this team will be like the Sixers, but a bit better.
413  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can we contribute accross local boards? on: February 25, 2024, 09:29:48 PM
Are we permitted to engage and contribute across local boards?, I mean being a member of the Nigeria local board, can I contribute in India, German and other local boards?.
I know some of them are not using the same language as mine, but there are translators to the rescue. I still think there are valuable informations there that can be of good benefit to me and help me broaden my horizon

Thank you in advance for your more experienced feedbacks

First, there is no restriction about posting on different local boards, anyone can post and contribute to any local board, the problem is the communication, since people may or may not understand the kind of language one will use if he is not a local of that board.

I don't know if there is an almost perfect translation app available on the store.  So using a translator may often misunderstood as spamming or using an AI app, and we all know that several members of this forum hate AI-generated replies.

Btw, what is your motivation in thinking of posting across the local board?  Aside from merit hunting, I don't find any reason why a member pursues such an approach.  We have boards dedicated where everyone can participate so why not use that board to help other people?

I don’t think using a translation app is a good idea to help you convey your message or translate your post. Instead, learn their own language if you really are highly interest to participate in their discussion, that’s the best possible way so you won’t be seen like spamming or using AI generated post.

I guess if you are into hunting merits, you can always earn it most likely in your own local board, without meddling into other local boards. Don’t complicate yourself, just post where you are most comfortable to post.
414  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Lomachenko vs. Kambosos - May 12 IBF Lightweight Title on: February 25, 2024, 08:58:02 PM
Loma cannot be too complacent about not getting a knockout win in Kambosos' country. Just to ensure a victory, he needs to KO him; otherwise, he might be surprised that he is very confident in the ring, thinking he'll win comfortably, but the judges saw it differently. Grin

People will never forget what they did to Pacman, and I hope it will not happen to Loma here since Kambosos has a similar style to Horn, who just loves to attack and throw a lot of punches. If judges count that and he survives the 12 rounds, unexpected things could happen. I'm pretty sure Loma's camp is well aware of that, so it's expected that their game plan is always ready to secure a clear victory.

Now, if I could ask, what would be next for Kambosos if he loses this fight? Would he rather retire or continue fighting against non-top boxers?

To be fair, there's not one high profile robbery fight in years in Australia after the Horn vs Pacquiao fight. Maybe they know that it did bring bad stigma to them. So now they are very careful of the fights being held that involved Australian. They still have Tim Tszyu as a champion and he had fights in Australia that hasn't been home cook, although it's either a stoppage win for Tim or a knockout victory.

But I will do agree that Loma shouldn't be self-assured here, in the Haney fight for me might have slow down in the championship rounds that's why Haney was able to steal the win in that fight. So he shouldn't do it here, he needs to show he has still the killer instinct to finished and knock his opponent out.

Robbery normally happens when a champion loses to a challenger. In the case of Tim Tszyu, he seemed to be the favorite or the champion, so he was expected to win. In this fight, Loma is the heavy favorite, so it will be controversial if the public perceives the fight as dominated by Loma, but it turns out that the victory is given to Kambosos if it goes the full 12 rounds.

I think every boxer fighting in the opponent's home country will make sure to secure a KO victory or at least show a very impressive performance to win, just to prevent this kind of controversial result from happening.
415  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 25, 2024, 01:57:27 PM
I just saw the betting odds for the game tonight between Gilas Pilipinas and Chinese Taipei. We thought -10 is high, but it's actually -24.5. Now, who has the courage to take that high spread? Personally, I have a little doubt about this, as it is the first time I saw the Philippines as a heavy favorite in the FIBA Asian Qualifier, and they are up against a decent team, albeit lower in ranking than the Philippines.

I might try to have some fun here; maybe I'll bet on the opposite team, as they have a very attractive x20 moneyline odds.

Maybe because people are been so hyped with past result on hongkong where they get 30 pts lead and take a win. But Chinese taipei is decent team so provably we cannot a see a same like situation on hongkong and I expect we can see a good match up here.

But for now not going to bet on either Philippines or Chinese taipei since I don't feel any excitement on this most likely we can see at the end of this sequence that Philippines would be the winner after the end of the match.

X20 money line odds though but I think for now I'm fine watching the game without placing any bets.

It would be nice if we have a head to head record for these two teams including their previous match ups so we can analyze if the line which is -23.5 now is overvalued. This is only the information I was able to search online, https://livescores.biz/basketball/h2h/chinese-taipei-19883-vs-philippines-7905

Better if we have, but unfortunately, there's no website yet that is as popular as those that record statistics in NBA games. So for now, we can just rely on what we remember about these two teams and do some further research. It may sound challenging, but it's never impossible to find information that would help us analyze the game we are betting on. At least, let's not bet blindly on this.
Stats wasn't necessary on that game as Gilas still dominate the game. I thought that the team that they faced tonight was way better than the Hongkong but I was wrong because against Hongkong, it was only a 30+ victory but tonight Gilas dominated with 50+ victory. The level of confidence must be so high. In this window, the closest rival for Gilas is New Zealand. I hope they will face each other soon so we can avenge our loss to this strong team in the past. I heard from the commentators that Gilas will be back by November for another game. I'm not sure of the mechanics, but it's good that we have something to look forward to.
Based on that record, Philippines has been dominating this team but not all in a blowout win, so I think -23.5 is quite high for Gilas to cover although we've see how impressive they were as for sure no team will compete in this big league unprepared.

They look prepared, and the game is already ongoing. We are in the first quarter now, and just like the Philippines game vs Hong Kong, it's a close game.
They only looked prepared at the beginning, but Gilas was able to dictate the game. As evidence, there wasn't even a quarter that Chinese Taipei had won. Despite Gilas leading by a huge margin, they are still playing with the same intensity.

It's surprsing! Looks like Bojan Bogdanović was a great addition to the Knicks. Had already played 3 games and had been averaging 16PPG. His last game was very impressive, putting a show with 6-6 shooting beyond the arc (didn't missed). With a shooter like him, the Knicks can space the floor and they'll not heavily rely on Brunson's attacking ability. Hopefully he'll earn more minutes and could give consistent contribution to the team.

Today, they'll be hosting the red hot Celtics who are currently on a 7 win streak. In their last 3 games, it was all Boston, so pretty much they were dominated based on the trend. can they make a big change today with a big win?

I am one of those who was rooting for the Knicks to pull the upset at home. But I did not place a bet as Boston is once again on a hot streak and is looking stronger after that shameful loss against the Lakers who played without Lebron and AD.

Ever since these two have been injured, their struggle started, and it is continuing now. This will have a huge impact on their ranking, and they are at risk of missing the playoffs this season. Yes, Brunson is very consistent, but we know he is not really a star caliber player like LeBron (the prime LeBron), KD, or Leonard. He is just an ordinary star player and can't carry this team to the championship, even in the playoffs.

Quote
Bojan is always a good addition to any team so the Knicks are lucky to have him. But Bojan did not get lucky today as he only shot 1 of his 4 in the threes. It was all Brunson once again and it is hard to win against a top team when relying on a single player. The Knicks are struggling without Randle and Anunoby.

He would be very significant on a playoff team as he is a clutch player, a veteran who still plays like his seasons with the Utah Jazz.
418  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A little ignorance and you can lose all your holdings on: February 24, 2024, 10:39:15 PM
I came across the post on Reddit about a guy that took this hard drive that he stored his bitcoin to a data recovery specialist to fix it, who told him that his 276 bitcoin has been stolen, wait a minute how, his hard drive was bad and gave it to you to fix it and then you told him it was stolen.
It's a shame how people would still act so unwise with their holdings, I know its not his fault that his hard drive got bad but at least he should have taken some measures to secure his holdings, and now there is no proff that the so called data recovery specialist was the one who stole it or not.
So, this idea was probably one of his carelessness. And it probably wouldn't be very successful to make a case for it unless he had strong evidence. There will definitely be a delivery history, right? And it would be a shame if we entrust such precious hard ware to be worked on by someone else and you don't see how it is done. Yes, maybe sometimes they don't allow you to see it. However, regardless of the condition and assets you have, I will look for a specialist who will allow me to see the work process. And when this accusation is no longer proven, what else can we do to prevent it? Oh yes, if the drive is indeed lost, there will be a transfer transaction, right? Just see when the time is, if the time is when the drive is still in the hands of the specialist, there is a possibility that he will do it. But if not, maybe this is just a fake story.
Its hard to believe that this guy went down entrusting his hard drive to some data recovery specialist without some caution. He must be trusting that person so much that he end up being deceived in the end. Although this might a made up story, but if ever it really happens, the person at fault is the one entrusting his hard drive to some stranger. Security should always be the first priority, rather than letting someone fix your hard drive when you know exactly that the assets inside are so much valuable that you can’t even afford to lose.
419  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is sharing insights the key to better trading? on: February 24, 2024, 09:38:01 PM
If there's a way to learn and earn at the same time, of course it's good one since it's free money after all.
The idea of sharing insights is fine, as long as you are talking to someone who can give you the right information and not just to tell you what to buy. There's a risk here if you will just follow their suggestions or insights, to avoid being trap into any project its advisable to do your own research as well and with this, you can learn faster.
Sharing insights is normal most particularly for experienced traders. But along with it, you also need to do your part by taking extensive research and studies so you will also grow on your own. Although sharing insights and experiences about trading is great since it can boost trading motivation for each other, but we have this saying in trading that trust no one but only yourself. Hence, you have to listen to other traders ideas and insights but make and follow your own analysis on the market. Know when to trade when you see visible profits and know when to delay trading.

Believe it or not crypto is helping a lot of people to make their life or future better.
There are so many people who are using crypto as another source of income, while other's are using it to hold their savings and earn more than they could get if they just let it sleep on their bank account.
Crypto has given us a chance to earn more than what we could and made it easier for every to start their investment journey.
That one I believe is a living legacy. No one gets actually lose or makes life worst with crypto if you know how to take it as an advantage rather than a risk to overcome. Crypto has never been a wrong decision for people, the only way people create wrong decision is when they see bitcoin or crypto as a get rich quick tool and immediately invest it without prior understanding on the market. With that, it’s certain that people will actually lose since they don’t even know what they are doing first and foremost.
