402  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Data from 503 Randomly Selected Altcoin Bounty Hunters on: February 18, 2018, 08:57:25 PM
It's nice and clear statistic here. After reading the OP, I think that there is a large amount of merit to give to everyone per month. The problem here, that there are a thousand of member doesn't care to give some merit points to high quality posts, In result, many people who write great posts complain about merit, I mean that every high quality poster thinks that he deserve more merit points.

403  Other / Off-topic / Re: Merit System Upgrade on: February 17, 2018, 11:15:47 PM

I think gambling is too important for the bitcoin ecosystem, The most of casinos sites are too rich with bitcoin, so This is expected if you see in time that gambling could be as much as 50% of the daily transactions of bitcoin. In addition, I think that a lot of members in the bitcoin community are gamblers, and liked to gamble with cryptocurrencies, especially bitcoin instead of gambling with fiat. They can easily access to gambling sites without any restrictions that can found in casinos and gambling site which accept only fiat.
Sorry for the late reply.

Because you don’t have much post history I’m going to split the amount and give you 10 merit. If you continue to participate in bitcoin discussions and pry yourself out of the gambling sub, you should be able to rank up before you reach enough activity. You’re going to need to become more involved and post more.

Thanks for your suggestions, I will try my best in the upcoming days to post more and become more involved in the forum. You are so kind person.
404  Other / Meta / Re: Secure your account before you regret. on: February 17, 2018, 10:49:46 PM
Many people are afraid due to the spread of hacking into many accounts and some of them consider that the security of those accounts are very weak ( especially after their accounts are hacked) and they bear all the burdens on the forum.
Yes, recently we've seen a lot of accounts being hacked. The problem is spliced into 2 general things.
1-Weakness of forum security
2-Careless about security by the user (I mean using an easy password).

In my opinion, the problem is not the weakness of security, but in fact, it is your misbehaviors that lead to your accounts ( users) being hacked.
Your opinion is right, careless about account security is always lead to lose your account. If anyone cares a lot about his own account, then he should put an effort and search how making it more secure.

When your account is well secured , the hacker cannot  get your password. So it's very essential to protect your account through two simple steps  :
1- Choosing a powerful password.
2- Secure your Email ( Strong password, Step verification ( by a  phone number) ,Encrypt it through a special key).

Your suggestions are good. People who have strongest password and care a lot about their account's security are mostly safe from being hacked.
But the problem is not here, I think there is a possibility to be hacked even if you made a strong password. The big problem is when you will be hacked, you will not notice by email until the hacker change the password and the bitcointalk email, Also there is no a confirmation email sender for you to confirm that you want to change your password or not. Here, it is the wrong point.

Admin send some merit to us Smiley

Nothing guaranteed but i think theymos will think about a second round if things get too slowly which I expect will happens once our guns run out of ammo soon Tongue
That's right, we are still in the first round now, Theymos will take a look how things happened in this first month according to the merit system. Maybe he can improve more this system and maybe not. There are few suggestions posted recently by users in Meta section, maybe he can consider some of them.
406  Other / Meta / Re: Does the merit system have weaknesses? on: February 17, 2018, 10:07:45 PM
with the merit system really helps this forum from spammers, and this improves post quality from forum members. but will this merit system actually stop spammers and make them look for loopholes in getting these merits?

so far I think the merit system is very good and makes me eager to make a post with good quality. thx  Smiley
I think that merit system is great to not say perfect, In the reason to fight spammers and shit postings, because a high percent of member here just want to join signature campaign with a minimum of effort to make money, They doesn't care about the forum, they only think about themselves which it's too greedy and wrong. So now with this new merit system, they will be obliged to improve their quality posts to eligible to rank and join signature campaigns.
407  Other / Meta / Re: Where are the merit sources? on: February 17, 2018, 09:25:06 PM
Honestly, I think that high members ranks are more eligible for the merit source than lower ranks, they have more merit points to award. The right question is:" Why merit sources are mostly given merit points to high ranks members, instead, to give more merit points to low ranks members who deserve that?"
This may happen because those high ranking members have made/make high quality posts so users will merit them. I personally have a policy of not giving out merit to anyone that is Legendary or eligible for Legendary (although that has been violated a few times by accident and during the first few days of the merit system).

I absolutely agreed with you, every member who post high quality posts, whether newbie or legendary, he can receive merit points, but the problem, you can see that some newbie, a member and Full member write good quality posts and they deserve a high amount of merit points, not just 1-2. On the other hand, you can see also some users (mostly high ranked) give a high amount of merit to (high ranked member) not to low ranks accounts, which I think probably it's unfair to low ranks members.
408  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: February 16, 2018, 09:34:44 PM
Just from this thread, the merit system is already broke from the start. This needs to be done away with. Just a opinion.

No it isn't.
The concept is good and will eventually stop rewarding the shitposters, however it will affect also regular posters slightly depending from their actual activity, at least for those who cares about their ranks. Contribute and you will get a reward.

Yes, the concept is great, however I think people need to get more used for giving some merit to posts that deserve it. It's very hard to get some - I've started quite an active thread about privacy coins and contributed quite a lot to it, but only got 3 merits - and there are required to go from Member to Full Member. Is there anybody who succeeded in getting higher rank since the merits were introduced?

It is possible but it will require longer waiting time.
If you find any of your topics/posts useful but it didn't get its chance then you can simply highlight it in a dedicated topics where the OP there will give sMerit for quality posts. You can find those topics in the services sub generally.

Hi,
thanks for a response. I'll have a look for these topics. The way to get higher rank seems to be very long, but I am not saying that it's bad. With the total sMerit amount increasing from Merit sources and with users getting used to give merits to good posts, perhaps the speed of getting Merits for everyone should increase.
Anyway, if anyone wants to evaluate if my list of privacy coins  deserves some merit, please have a look  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2869616.0
Best regards
If you want to get some merit points by reviewing your posts, you should see the post of pugman here.
409  Other / Meta / Re: disgust, at how people r using merit-related threads for merit farming on: February 16, 2018, 09:08:28 PM
The merit system makes it exceptionally difficult to rank up.  I think the amount of shareable merit should be replenished more frequently.
That's right, It's not easy to get some merit points unless you post high quality contents, otherwise you can't get a single merit point. It's true that the new system makes it difficult to rank up, but everyone should try to improve his posts to gain merit. But, I think the only problem is that a lot of good posts than the ones posted by OP had didn't merited until now.
410  Economy / Gambling / Re: Win $1,000,000 USD - FREE ENTRY! on: February 16, 2018, 07:48:49 PM
May I ask who is holding the funds? I guess the goal is to raise more money then is being given away, which is quite a lot for a new service.

Using a multisig wallet with an escrow that needs to sign off would give a lot more trust I guess.
I don't think they already have this amount of money to escrow it. I thought their strategy was to collect this money using people who buy tickets, They already said on the website: "Draw will happen when 100,000 tickets are sold." So people should wait until all tickets are sold and then they will have 2 Million dollars (100,000*20$). So in the final point if they pay the winners, they will end up earning a huge amount.
411  Other / Meta / Re: My account got hacked and I am wondering how on: February 16, 2018, 07:01:17 PM
Hopefully, he didn't change your bitcointalk email address, because I see a lot of topics about member got hacked and the hacker is eligible to change the email and password without any confirmation to your email, so you can't do anything about that. I think this point is the weakness in the security of the forum. I already suggest a few solutions about improving security you can see it here.

I know "merit system" is very good to improve the forum, but I don't know why I always see great posts which didn't have any single point of merit. I think high member ranks (most of them) don't care too much about low ranks who they try to improve their posts quality.
413  Other / Off-topic / Re: Merit System Upgrade on: February 16, 2018, 05:03:51 PM
I would like to try my luck with this post if i could get my first merit points for it:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2906373.msg29891412#msg29891412

“Try my luck” You spend too much in the gambling sub. LOL

You’ve been here since 2016 but you only have a 185 activity. You will need to post more before you can gain rank. You know to get Sr. Member you’re going to need a 240 activity. At the rate you’re posting now it’s going to take you at least a year.

Your posts are good. There’s a reasonable chance that if the right person saw some of them you would get merit. You seem to be from the UK but speak both Arabic and French which to me is an odd combination but kind of cool.

I have a question for you. How important do you feel gambling is for the bitcoin ecosystem? I spent a little time looking at the different online casinos to see if I could tell how much bitcoin relies on gambling and I think at times it could be as much as 50% of the daily transactions. As a gambler, you might have a better feel for that.

415  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Bitcoin Is So Volatile on: February 15, 2018, 11:59:19 PM
Bitcoin price is so volatile because of the sell/buy of it, It's not stable because of this reason, It's not like a real currency, It is used by all countries in the whole world. So don't expect that it will be stable, even news (good or bad) about cryptocurrencies can affect the price immediately.
416  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoins hit 30K before the end of this year? on: February 15, 2018, 11:53:27 PM
Honestly, I think bitcoin price will be more than 30k$ in the end of this year. My prediction about bitcoin tell me that bitcoin will achieve the 50k$ at the end of 2018. This year will be the best year for btc, the community will grow too much and the most big investors will believe Purly in bitcoin, so I think the price will increase too high due to these reasons.
417  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin predictions rise in what month ? on: February 15, 2018, 11:44:37 PM
I think in the upcoming month bitcoin price will increase too much and achieve the 14k$ level. As we see now bitcoin recovered some of his real value and the current price now is 10K$. So I think now is this time is to recover the real price of bitcoin, It will be hard if bitcoin decrease again to the 8-7k$ level again, so we hope for the betterment.
418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it Ripple buy time? on: February 15, 2018, 11:38:58 PM
When the ripple (xrp) price is below 2$, it will be more than good to buy it. I believe in this cryptocurrency to gain a high potential this year, Maybe it will be the crypt of the year with bitcoin, No body knows, but I believe in it, I think it will reach the 20$ at the end of this year, which is very good compared to the current price now, If we buy a lot of xrp we can make a huge profit in the future.
419  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin alternatives in 2018 on: February 15, 2018, 11:34:59 PM
What do you think which will be the best alternative of bitcoin in 2018? Ethereum, Litecoin, Ripple, Verge or Zcash?
I don't think that there is a best bitcoin alternative in 2018, because I think that bitcoin will reach the 50k$ few months later, so I can tell you which cryptocurrencies that I have a faith in it. I think the ripple (xrp) will have a great potential and xrp price will increase too much this year, maybe it will cross the 20$ barrier.
420  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: how long you can stay without gambling? on: February 15, 2018, 11:29:26 PM
I am not addicted to gambling, I can stay without gamble for a long time, because I know what is gambling, I mean, how risky is it, I don't like to waste my money on one of riskiest activity like it. I just gamble only for fun, It's not money purpose.
